I had never heard of PCC, but my friends got all excited on my behalf when they heard a PCC was opening near my house, so I wanted to come check it out. Obviously it's a brand new location so it's experiencing some growing pains, but I think there's a lot of potential here for folks that love natural/organic and vegetarian/vegan products. One important thing to note: this is not the place to come to do your weekly grocery shopping, especially and most importantly if you cook your own meals. PCC will remind you strongly of a smaller, less well-stocked Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, with familiar brands replaced by quirky organic knockoffs at twice the price, and a massive, disproportionate footprint of the store devoted to prepared foods (tacos, pizza, salad bar, etc.). In that sense, PCC is far more like a cafeteria than a grocery, but the foods looked and smelled fabulous (I had already had dinner, unfortunately). Aisles are narrow, short, and laid out diagonally in relation to the walls of the store, which is a little disorienting. The cashiers are on the far right of the store (as you face when walking into the entrance) rather than the usual spot right in front. Nothing that can be done about that, I suppose, and it's probably fine once you've been to the store a few times. The bulk foods and wine sections were quite impressive, if a little overly pricey. The fresh meats/seafood section was also impressive. The produce section is far, far smaller than you'd hope for at a natural foods market, but the produce they had looked pretty good. Prices in the meats/seafood and produce sections were comparable to other higher-end groceries in the area. Overall, PCC seems like a good place to come for lunch or take-home dinner if you have enjoyed eating at a Whole Foods or other natural/organic market. It's also a good place to grab that rare organic ice cream or green tea or cereal that you can't find anywhere else. At this point, and while they're still getting into their rhythm, this is not the place to do your weekly grocery shopping, but I'm looking forward to coming back here and seeing how they grow into their new location. read more

First off, trying to get into this parking lot is like a scene out of the raiders of the lost ark. Crazy, just bonkers crazy... Took me 15 minutes in rush hour traffic. That's my only complaint. I won't take off any stars for that. Secondly, the Pizza lady with the dark hair to the side had a great attitude, smile and served up two wonderful pepperoni slices for me. (sighs...) The slices were not of the hot-pocket burning variety but they were just right. The sweet sauce and cheese were made to perfection. I hope I get to see her again to give her my thanks. Pizza being made right just north of Seattle is a hard thing these days. Especially the organic kind. You'd be hard pressed to prove me wrong. Management, I hope your reading this. Give the lady a raise or some recognition. Also, the atmosphere at this location was artsy with some great music and the visuals that beat the rest of the other locations I've visited recently. The produce was top notch and they had the Vermints I was looking for. The staff here is diverse and polite. In short, I will be coming back to this location even though it's a good 15-20 minutes from the house, but who cares when you get great service and products. Well I really love this place and even in retirement I spend a lot of dough here because it's a small community organic market with many options including soup bakery really good bakery which is the best takeout salads fresh butcher etc. however however, they recently cut out certain bakery items, including sour cream, coffee, cake, and replaced it with something called a pastry mitten for $15 what a rip off! Bring back your traditional cakes, whether you make them or not! read more

I work in the same vicinity as PCC and the workers are amazing, I sometimes see them twice a day-first for coffee and later for lunch. The food is affordable but I would always rather pack a lunch (highly recommend the tacqueria). For me, some things are a little too overpriced for me to even think about getting, but the people are great and so is the food Update: I really love this place STILL and they have recently added a grain bowl bar. I shop at different PCC locations in Seattle frequently as I drive all day in my job within the city limits. I live closest to the PCC here in Bothell and find it somehow lacking by comparison. It is a smaller store and the product options appear to be limited. The design doesn't help. While other stores are warm and inviting, I find this store to be cold and overly industrial. The staff are courteous and helpful, and of course the products are all that one expects from PCC. I just find myself disappointed after experiencing all this store could have been. I shop here infrequently as I always walk out a little disappointed. read more

I got sassed today! Hold on, this ones gonna get a bit sporty and sadly, In all seriousness, it's not really funny all, even as I rely on a little humor to get us through this. Today I stood at the meat counter, for a really long time. Two guys cutting meat, facing my direction, neither would make eye contact. They were frequently interacting with a gal who was stocking and was walking past me frequently. It got so silly that I just started to assume that she must not be responsible for customer service. I think maybe the two guys cutting meat were not making eye contact so she would have to serve me and sadly I suspect she was playing a similar game with them. After a rather ridiculous amount of time, probably nearing ten minutes, though I wasn't timing, she finally acknowledges me and asks if I'm being helped (same two guys heads down). I gave her a grimace and responded a little tersely "I've been waiting a really long time". That's when she escalated in an aggressively snotty sass. "You need to do a better job of saying something". That's when it happened. Without any forethought, I heard a rather loud utterance come out of my mouth. "F-U". It's the thing that in any normal circumstance, you should just lose the argument. Yet then, and even now as I just got home, it's perfectly clear to me. If this were to ever happen again, I'd respond in the same manner. It, was, somehow....appropriate. It's terrible, but true. I asked for a manager and he rather patiently listened and apologized. I was pretty honest about my response as well. I told him I was done shopping, was going to immediately check out and never come back. Penalty box: level permanent. After getting home and calming down, here is the thing. It's not enough. I firmly believe that a person deserves to make a mistake now and again. But if you heard that tone, you would understand. There was such conviction. This is someone who has practiced. They have gotten used to this kind of response. I'm thinking of bringing the groceries back and getting a refund. Except those chicken wings. I'm keeping the wings. And the chicken gizzards, those too. Aww heck. What to do here? The thing is, this response has a different flavor. This one was something else. This did not feel like just a bad day. Yeah, not funny at all now. I honestly think we really did cross a line today. I'm going to forward this up the chain further. Nice store. Smells great as soon as you walk in. The produce selection is pretty small. There were some interesting items in the refrigerated prepared food section. I have shopped in organic health food stores for years, including several small independent ones in the Bay Area. I found the prices here to be unreasonable, especially when this is a chain and things can be purchased in bulk. Standard items like boxed baby spinach and kombucha, which are widely available at all grocery stores, cost at least 30 percent more here than at safeway. I'm willing to pay more for special items but not for standard stuff that can be found anywhere. It is also weirdly dark around the cash registers which makes for kind of a bad vibe. read more

But you have to want a certain type of restricted food and have more money (than QFC, Safeway, FM) to spend on your groceries. Would shop there in an emergency but not going to replace my daily/weekly shopping places. Customers should get printed receipts and check them thoroughly. Especially if you are shopping at the Bothell PCC. I've noticed a general lack in quality at this store for and now that I've heard from the Manager I know why. I've been a member for a long time and have known good cashiers at this store and others. But, my experience yesterday leaves me wondering what's going on at the Bothell store. I had a $140 bill, 2 bags, not a lot to check out. But, the cashier double charged me on TWO items. And, on one of those he held the item back at his register after scanning it twice. I asked him as I was leaving 'Is that mine?' He did not seem to know or care. I checked my bags and receipt and found he double charged me. And then kept the item. He also got bent out of shape because I forgot to write the code on my bag of pinto beans. He ordered a girl to back of the store to get the code. Couldn't he look up the code himself? And then he started to do other things at other registers and talked to other staff. Meantime, my expensive cold items are getting warmer. He also left a block of Parmesan and a lemon bar under the payment console and did not bag them. I saw them and bagged them myself. There is something definitely wrong there. The Manager was no help except for getting the refund. I got the impression he did not want to be bothered. I won't be going back to that store. If you shop there check your receipts and watch the cashier. read more

I have never been to PCC before and when I went for the first time I was in shock by how well organized, and cleanly the store is. However the rude behavior from the employee at the sandwich department was ridiculous. He seemed bothered I even asked to order a sandwich, and wanted it warmed up. He then threw my sandwich on the counter and said "Here". Very rude service, but very nice store! read more

I was so excited when they opened up a PCC in Bothell! Too bad I moved to Duvall (I'll keep asking them to build a location there!). I still shop at the Bothell location, at least once a week, as I volunteer at the Petco next door every Sunday. I love going to PCC to do my big grocery shopping! I am vegan and gluten-free (due to health reasons) and I try to eat a lot of raw foods, which means I eat A LOT and often! The produce section is great!! Lots of variety and choice - much better than any Whole Foods in this area! I HATE going to Whole Foods for produce, as their veggies and fruit tend to be older and less fresh. Plus, Whole Foods has less organic items and doesn't stock their shelves as frequently. PCC has higher standards for all of their food and products (shampoo, soap, etc). The only reason why I continue going to Whole Foods is because they are one of the only stores that sells organic frozen WILD blueberries, which have superior nutrients than any organic farmed blueberries. I asked PCC if they could carry wild ones but their supplier is unfortunately out of stock. Sometimes the Bothell PCC does not have an item I want, but they are good about special ordering it for me. Also, a big reason why I wanted to write this review is to thank them for making the most awesome vegan and gluten-free mini cupcakes for my wedding! I ordered 10 dozen, and even my non vegan/gluten-free guests liked them! I've tried all the vegan/gluten-free cupcakes sold at the PCC's and Whole Foods, and the ones made by PCC's baking department are the BEST! I will keep ordering more! Oh and their pizza is great! Too bad I can't eat it anymore due to my gluten intolerance. read more

I'm sorry. This is the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. I ordered a burrito. Much like you would see at chipotle or Qdoba. I thought that would be an easy thing. I was wrong. All of the meats that are served with the burritos have some sort of broth base. This makes the Burrito some sort of leaking substance that is impossible to pick up. If you were to try to eat it with a fork. You would also have no luck. Because the broth has leaked through the wrap which is now glued to the surrounding wax paper. The makings of the burrito including black beans are cold. PCC please do yourself a favor shut down the burrito libe. read more

I actually live closer to Whole Foods in Totem Lake, but if I'm going to pay a premium price, I'd rather shop here. Whole Foods is expensive, but the quality is like Safeway. At PCC, everything is so fresh, and just looking at the meat and produce is candy to my eyes. I used to live a couple blocks from the West Seattle location, and I had no idea that Bothell and Kirkland had locations on the Eastside. I'm as happy as can be. read more

The luster has definitely worn off for me since PCC Bothell opened. And folks seem to be divided on it. The high prices and social pretenses approach that of a South Park episode here. The food one receives from either the deli or the food bars is of decent quality, but seems to be oddly seasoned and never right. On the plus side, they have a decent baked goods selection. If you need a decent baguette, this is your place! Same for the other things like cookies and desserts. The bulk section is also very good, so head there. Avoid wine or beer here. I had never been into a PCC until this one opened last year. Prices are compatible, sometimes cheaper than Whole Foods and carries much of the same products. I like that it's locally owned, and is great to their employees. Try the pizza, it's only $3 a slice; the sandwiches are really good, and their coffee is my 2nd favorite coffee after Vienna Coffee in Lynnwood. I wish the coffee counter was a lot faster though, I've had to skip coffee many times because I only had 30 min and there were already 2-3 people in line. Hands down this is my favorite grocery store. Items are definitely pricey but you can't beat the quality, especially in the meat department. The PCC deli has a ton of options which makes for easy meals on the go, especially if you're trying to accommodate a specific lifestyle like paleo or whole30. The wine selection is good and fairly priced. Customer service is really above and beyond which makes shopping here a great experience. My favorite Bothell PCC items: protein salad from the deli, steph's tofu from the deli ( and I typically don't even like tofu...) the cheddar biscuit breakfast sandwich, pizza from the hot bar, carne asada from the meat department. read more

This is my first time....not only to the new Bothell PCC...but to any PCC store. I'll tell you when NOT to check it out....lunchtime...unless you are specifically coming for lunch...avoid shopping or just checking it out during that time. It's an interesting set up. Coffee when you walk in, and produce, then the fresh made foods to the left, check out to the right, with all the aisles in the middle. I didn't realize they have only one entrance.. the other side was exit only...(of course awesome me parked on the wrong side...making more work for my peg leg.) I kinda stand out in a store like that in this area...blue hair, dark smokey makeup, and dark clothes...oh yeah AND a pirate leg... lol Everyone in there was either business dress, or natural, shorts, flip flops, etc. Not sure if that's why so many people noticed me and asked if I needed assistance...or if they are all really just that friendly. I wasn't looking for anything in particular....just a snack, found some chips and dip that look good.. but didn't want to open it yet, so I got a fresh baked blueberry scone (THAT WAS SO YUM!) Also found some protein bars that I like that were priced equivalent to my normal store. They have vitamins, healthy stuff, alternative choices, skin/ bath supplies, lots of great stuff to look at, eat, etc. It's too pricey for me for actual grocery shopping...but I would hit this place for lunch or specialty items I need. I expected it to be a little more Whole Foods...which I guess it kind of is...on a smaller scale. It's incredibly clean, bright, open, beautiful flower bouquets at every register. Produce looks amazing. They had news fliers, coupon books, etc. at the check out. A lady even gave me her left over buy one get one free coupon she got in the mail. Employees were truly friendly...even a few customers...including the really nice guy that took my cart back from my car since they're isn't any cart drop off spots. Why 4 stars instead of 5? Only because of the on one way only, and no drop off cart areas in the parking lot, and price (which I actually is typical for this type of store...so should I fault them?) I love PCC it's absolutely no secret. I go to PCC probably 3-4 times a week and sometimes I wish that I didn't because it's so damn expensive lol. Seriously though. 8.99 a pound for the salad bar, hot food bar, and olive/food bar? Come on man that's a bit ridiculous. But besides the price I love it. They have vegan croutons which is big for me because I freaking love croutons! And I've become a lover of all things olive so their olive bar is constantly visited by me with their delicious overly salty Greek olive mix omg pairs so good with a salad! Love it! The store in general is a great store, awesome employees, and a great place to sit and eat. They have plenty of vegan options, veggie options, and meat for you carnivores hahaha. Their grocery food is high priced as well so I don't see myself ever actually buying groceries from there but I do buy the bottled water and drinks. I went to this new store of PCCs and was excited to find they have an Elleons yogurt bar! However, I also found that they charges more on Elleons yogurt at the deli bar than the packaged ones in the refrigerated section in the back of the store. Therefore, they have the same product, same amount, but two different pricing in one store. For me, this is just weird. PCC has their reasons, but as a consumer, I do not have to like it or agree. In the future, I will just try a sample of the new flavors the yogurt bar offers, if they are not amazing, I would just go to the refrigerated section and buy the classic flavors. read more

I really like this store. This staff is super friendly, their deli food is amazing and they have a great selection of healthy food. The main reason I'm writing a review is because I think it should be noted how terrible the blueberries are in the produce section. They are consistently overripe, mealy and old. They always look good so I continue to buy them occasionally knowing I'm taking a chance. I have probably wasted at least $200 buying old inedible blueberries from this store. I just wish the produce would have expiration dates on them. I buy the same brand of organic blueberries on Amazon fresh and they are never old. I'm still giving this store 4 stars because everything else is wonderful! read more

Why is this this organic $6.99 Formosa papaya from PCC is a waste of money ?Because it can't be eaten. the color inside is yellow not orange, the seeds have not even developed, the cavity y large because the fruit didn't develop, after waiting a week for it to ripen, it rots instead. What happened?It was picked prematurely and then somewhere along the way it was refrigerated consequently the fruit never ripens and you loose. Buyer beware, the papaya must not be all green, it must show signs of ripening yellow, also it most night have brown spots or show wrinkling on the skin because in that case it is already rotten without ripening. read more

As to the bag charge, we have to agree to disagree. "encouraging" me with a nudging charge is ok, I guess, but my research and that of Todd Meyers (an expert) make me conclude that this bag thing is not a severe crisis as it's presented. Much like the plastic straw trend. More of a "do something--anything" for local government and businesses to pursue with little political blow-back or cost. Aisles get super cramped and overall there is not nearly enough space. Maybe they will be expanding soon? Checkout can be painfully slow at times but it is very dependent on whether or not you are there during peak hours. It's a little early since they literally just opened up but there are definite improvements to be made. More space and more staff. Now. Onto the food. Your usual PCC quality. Fresh high quality produce, organic meats & dairy and a plethora of snack foods, bulk foods, supplements etc. My roommate has also commented on the excellent vegan options available. Okay, they've found their feet. Staff are like PCC staff anywhere else, maybe a bit friendlier. The produce is expensive but some things are cheaper than QFC. We shop at both. PCC has more choices of flavors for Brown Cow yogurt, so that's good. My wife likes hard to find gourmet stuff, like froze chicken feet for Thai food. I like organic grass fed bones for bone broth. Stuff you wont find in other stores may be here. read more

I couldn't be more thrilled that PCC is now only a few miles from my home! It is unfortunate that they couldn't build from the ground up like in Edmonds and Redmond (my favorite PCCs) and have all of the space they need but they did what they could with an old Albertsons shell. For those that didn't realize, there are two quick checkouts - one at each end of the coffee/deli area - in addition to the checkouts by the exit door. This store is geared toward take out/ take home meals. There is a huge deli with prepared salads, taqueria, salad bar, hot food buffet, and a whole refrigerated aisle of prepared salads, sandwiches, soups, small meals - meatloaf/potato salad, salmon/kale salad, chicken/pasta salad, lasagna, mac n cheese, etc. along with an equally long beverage case of single items - juice, soda, water, tea, smoothies and things I don't even know about. To the guy looking for Coke/Pepsi products - PCC does not carry them because they contain high fructose corn syrup and caramel color. Try a Zevia or Blue Sky soda instead.
