This review is for the kombucha on tap window located right next to Willowtree Health Market. I love that they have their own little kombucha booth with different kombuchas on tap. The kombuchas were originally made at either Mystic kombucha from Seattle or local Iggy's brewery from the island. I got the Old World Ginger kombucha which was comprised of jun, ginger root, lemon zest, cinnamon, star anise, and other spices - all organic. He got the Pineapple + Ginger kombucha which he described as a little too Apple cider vinegary for his liking. Between the two kombuchas, we concluded Old World Ginger was the tastiest. read more

BI is has a gem of a health food store in Willow's Naturally. Their product selection is really great and they have a nice selection of books as well. I have to stop in this place. It's a 'health food store' with a bunch of natural remedies including body care. They have a nice variety of food for people with various allergies. I like this atmosphere. It's open, clean, and easy to maneuver in. The service has been friendly and knowledgeable each time I've been in. There's no high pressure to buy here. Their Natural Foods & Remedies Market is full of yummy healthy food and goodies and an awesome selection of wellness products such as vitamins, remedies, tinctures, you name it. They also have a Kombucha Bar featuring kombucha from local artisan Kombucha brewers such as Mystic Kombucha. You can purchase kombucha by the pint or growler and they even do growler refills. I also recently picked up some artisan craft Fire Cider from a newly launched company (Sip'N Ciders) from one of their employees! Its the best Fire Cider I have ever tasted. Also, one of the things that makes this place truly special is the totally cozy and warm environment and the amazingly friendly and super knowledgeable crew that works and hangs out there. I'd been to the store pre-COVID, but bc I have severe health issues, I had not been able to shop in-store since February, when I was advised to stay home. I follow them on Instagram and noticed they said they deliver/do curbside pickup and that we could order by messaging them. I was so excited bc I had been wanting a pink salt lamp and had hesitated to buy one bc I hate giving Amazon any more $ than is absolutely necessary. Anyway, they made the shopping experience a pleasure (sending me photos of all the product options) and a breeze by calling me to take payment, and even delivering directly to my door with no contact drop off, and then there was a teeny thing with an item I had purchased (not their fault, just a variation) and they came to my house again to exchange it, no problem and so kind. I love the energy of this place (and used to cherish going in person when I could) but I was so blown away and touched by their accommodation and effort to make their customers happy, I just had to come here and tell everyone. I have always loved Willows, but since the new owner took over and is now WillowTree, the store has become one of my favorite places in the island. Everything in the store has been carefully selected for you, it takes the guessing out, from vitamins and supplements to wine and beautifully crafted, locally made gifts! and the food! and books! and candles! IT REALLY IS A ONE STOP SHOP. Also, if there is something they don't have, they will order and stock it for you. Last but not least, the store is just beautiful -i love being there. My family had become regulars at this business. The staff have always been friendly and knowledgeable. Over the course of this past week I have had three separate disappointing experiences at Willows that left me unsettled enough to write this review. The first experience involved an employee that I'd never seen or met before. I made it into the store fifteen minutes before closing. When the employee asked if I needed any assistance, I told them what I was looking for. They began suggesting products that listed very few or no ingredients. The employee couldn't say with any certainty whether or not the suggested products had specific allergens that my family has severe reactions to. It became very obvious, very quickly that the employee was shoving things into my hand in the hopes I would leave the store so they could close on time. I would have been much happier if they'd simply said , "I'm sorry but I don't really have the information you're looking for and it's very important that I close on time today." The second lack luster experience I had was with an employee who recommended a very expensive product without having the education or training that other employees apparently have. After taking the product into my physician to make sure it was safe for me to take, I was informed that it wasn't appropriate for me. That was fairly disappointing but not a massive problem. I had developed a trust about the staff of Willows being well informed, educated, or trained. Understandably, new employees won't have the same level of information, education, or training but with that comes the hope that the new employee would be discouraged from making recommendations without a more senior employee's input. This leads me to my third disappointing experience. During my trips to the store during the week, I'd witnessed a couple of customers return items. I'd never needed to do so but thought that was pretty cool of the establishment. I also became thankful that they had such a neat policy once it came to light that the overly expensive item I'd purchased on the ill advise of the newer employee, wasn't good for me. However, when I went to return the item, I wasn't allowed to do so because I'd opened it. I remember very clearly, one of the customers who had returned an item earlier in the week, had stated that the item had tasted terrible and they just couldn't tolerate it. How could they taste or tolerate it without having opened it? I went online hoping to write a review of the product on their site. Their site didn't support that but while perusing their About Us page, I came across this: RETURN POLICY 100% satisfaction guarantee on every product. If for any reason a product does not meet your expectations you may return it for a refund. I've emailed them concerning this last experience and their above stated guarantee. If they respond, I'll include it here for other potential consumers. At this time, I don't think I can recommend this establishment. ********************UPDATE 5/23/2010************************* Today I received a response from Willows and as promised, I'm going to include it. Because of it's timely and considerate nature I'm raising my rating. If I'm successful in returning the product, I'll reevaluate my rating. Response from Willows: Dear Dis, I am so sorry that my emplyee refused to take back the OregaBiotic and refund your money. That should never have happened. I will make sure that all of my staff is very clear about our return policy. Please accept my apologies and bring in the OregaBiotic at your earliest convenience for a full refund. Your good feelings and your business are important to me. Thank you for letting me know about this misunderstanding and I am very sorry for any inconvenience to you. I love this local health and wellness store! There is new ownership--great gifts, supplements, herbs, and friendly people.

This is not a child friendly store. The owner's husband yelled at my 4 year old twin boys. Sure they were happily horsing around while I paid and laughing and talking in outside voice. There was no child friendly area where I could direct their attention. The man started screaming at them from an upper loft area. He could have noticed I was paying and would be out the door in seconds but he choose to yell at children. Who yells at other people's kids? They should post a sign that special needs kids, kids that need naps, sick children or any kids that actually act like children are not welcome. It would be a shame to disturb the owners husband by spending our money. read more

The new owner (November 2015?) and staff at Willowtree are very knowledgeable and friendly. They bring a gust of fresh air into the formally functioning, but somewhat tired health food store. I have been there more in the past few months, than in the past few years. I was excited to see she is carrying a cool variety of yoga gear and I noticed a natural line of makeup too.
