Great idea, but the service is poor and the execution is lacking. In almost every order we've…read morereceived, something ends up moldy or spoiled the day after arrival. We almost never have this issue when buying directly from farmers' markets, so I'm convinced there's something wrong with how they store and handle their produce. Other reviews mention the same thing. They also replaced locally grown cilantro with cilantro grown in Mexico, without any note or explanation. Getting fresh, locally sourced food is literally the only reason we order from them. We had an order that was supposed to be delivered on Thanksgiving morning (that's what it said on their newsletter), but it arrived on Friday instead. When we contacted customer service, they gave defensive response that three minutes after we placed the order, the system updated to the "correct" delivery date, even though their newsletter said they don't deliver on that date. The response didn't actually address the lack of clarity about the delivery date. They even once included a slip of paper with someone else's name, phone number, and address. We're done with this place.

I do love going to these types of stores and put it in my mind on a return trip to stop in and check out the store. Well we made a another visit to town a few weekends ago and we made a stop here. Like any good and complete Co-op (I have run into bad ones) the products are of good quality and the food is organic. There is a nice deli area where you can get sandwiches and food bar to dish up if your heart desires it. There is a good health and beauty section where like the quality of the food is a few grades above a run of the mill grocery store which the quality can be questionable and if it's ethically sourced (same concern goes to food too). I purchased a few cans of beer and hop water. The hop water was quite good but it is from a brewery that we have a very high regard for so not a huge surprise. They have a considerable beer and wine selection which is nice. This is a great place to go and support... something I can really get behind is to support local businesses!

They offer great local produce, very quality meats, and apothecary items as well. The supplement and vitamin section is very large with lots of top brands. Very helpful staff and clean store. I recommend dropping into this place in your way into downtown., or when leaving, grab a snack for the road.

I would almost call it serendipity, but I was certainly searching for something, I just didn't know exactly what. I had a day off and had spent the earlier part of it wandering, looking for any remaining independent produce stands, butcher shops, or just something that felt like it would nourish and heal me because I had been feeling....well? physically, emotionally, existentially, and psychologically, like absolute crap. Historically I've spent years independently studying nutrition and biochemistry, herbalism and traditional medicine, but over the years I'd strayed from those things and lost my way. All this to say I may have forgotten some things but I recognize when someone else knows their stuff. I wandered into Sunshine Corners, originally for a good sandwich and maybe some produce. What immediately struck me was how comforting this place was, and how much it felt like the old school apothecaries or coop's before they became adulterated by mainstream capitalist influences. Stay with me here. I overheard Tony talking to one of the people at the front desk and immediately realized "ok, that guy knows his stuff". Meekly, when he had a moment, I walked over to him and basically, in a sort of desperate manner, laid out my litany of aches and pains and mysterious ailments, expecting an abrupt hand waving answer. That is not what I got. Tony spent what might have been somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour with me, patiently asking me questions and pulling out reference literature. He recognized things in me that no one else had been able to see, and pointed me in a direction that has allowed me to focus on actually getting better rather than just collapsing in frustration. Tony, if you're reading this, the time you spent helping me meant so much to me. Your years of wisdom made a huge impact, but more importantly, your humanity.

With that said, I've noticed several cost cutting changes over the years that I'm not thrilled about. The meat department used to have a traditional butcher counter, which made it easy to get the exact amount of black forest bacon I needed. This is now gone and replaced with pre-packaged cuts. Bulk bacon is no longer offered, and shopping for meat now creates more plastic waste. Recently, the deli counter was replaced with pre-portioned servings. This move might make sense but is not a great sign of for the future of this store. I'm glad the sandwiches have been spared, especially since I eat those pretty frequently. Lastly, the pizza situation is lacking. Maybe something's up with the heat lamps, but slices tend to dry out and are incredibly unappetizing. The only way you'll get a good piece is if it just came out of the oven. This is not an issue at other PCCs, where the pizza is in good shape throughout. Overall, still love shopping here but I hope my PCC's best days are ahead.
