Never go here. Enough said. More importantly, never go here if you happen to be female. Longer version: I took my car there when it started making "A Bad Noise". I wasn't sure what the noise meant, but I had heard good things about this place from male relatives. The nice repair people took my car in, and I went to work. Throughout the day, they would call to tell me that, oooh, the noise is very bad... but we haven't determined the source... it seems to be the engine... They then proceeded to tell me that, to determine the source of the issue, they would need to take the engine apart. But oh, by the way, that'll be $500 - just to do the work to find out the issue. Then they started in, telling me it might be the flywheel. And that that would cost $2,000 to fix. Or maybe the engine would need to be rebuilt. Are you sure you want to keep this car??? After all was said and done (and I was out about $500+), they came back with their conclusions. It was really bad, they told me, but whew! Not as bad as they thought. Want to know what it was??? Spark plugs. I needed new spark plugs. Neither myself, nor any of my male relatives, ever have gone here again. read more

This business puts people first! Since starting college and my professional career, I have moved A LOT and thus have been to a great number of auto repair shops along the way. This is by far the best one I have EVER been to! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! I went in today because my car felt like it was pulling to one side. I just moved to the area three days earlier and it made me nervous to have a car possibly break down when I'm starting a new job and have no connections yet to ask for rides/help. The repairman looked my car all over and even went on a ride with me. He was totally honest with me saying that he felt my car was safe and couldn't find anything wrong with it. Any other place would have "found" something or made up a problem. As a woman, I really appreciated that he did not take advantage of me. I will be back here for ALL my auto maintenance needs as long as I'm in Champaign (which hopefully is for a long time- I'm sick of moving! Update 9/24/14- They took 1 hour to email me back regarding an appointment while another place had me calling, emailing, submitting online requests eight times over a course of three days for service. I really appreciate their flexibility in getting people in and speedy communication. You won't find this at other car places in town. read more

First, charge 150 buck for diagnosis, however, Nissan dealer charges for 100. Second, force me to change oil, otherwise they won't provide me with any warranty. BTW, they charge about 10 bucks higher than other store. Third, ask me to change the battery and base as well for 300+ bucks. I have to say that I have a feeling that been ripped off. I have not been to PDR in about 15yrs. Prior to that I had one great experience with them and then the next two times I came in I was truly disappointed on how it seemed they found problems outside of what I took it in for and it felt like they just gouged me when it came to price. I found Peter B's and went to them instead and found a better, more economical mechanic overall. They are not much cheaper but I haven't experienced the nickel/dime I did at PDR. read more

The folks at PDR are great. They are friendly and professional. I also believe they are highly skilled and posses the equipment needed to diagnose and treat most if not all makes and models. Their prices are extreme, probably due to the equipment and software needed to care for such a variety of vehicles. PDR provides a shuttle service and flexible drop off and pick up hours. Essentially, PDR provides the same type of service you would find at a dealership. The downside at PDR is the cost and the lack of amenities. When you pay dealer prices for service, you typically have an upscale waiting area with plenty of seating and brand new cars or vans used as shuttle vehicles. Often, when a dealer services a vehicle they will wash the exterior and vacuum the interior when finished. At PDR, you pay the upscale dealer prices but the upscale service amenities are lacking. My nearest dealer is in Peoria or Indy. Having a highly skilled mechanic locally wins out over making a 2hr drive to get the upscale service amenities when the same level of service expertise can be found at PDR. read more

The issue we brought our car in for has been a frustrating and expensive one! I called them on a Thursday and was able to get it in the next Monday. Our car was back in our hands by Tuesday and we were charged the exact amount that they quoted. We were incredibly pleased and relieved to have the problem fixed for less than we'd anticipated (due to past issues/repairs/cost of the same problem). Great service. read more

NEVER GO TO PRD. Worst Auto repair shop that I have ever gone. I told them about my car's problems and they charged me nearly $300 to diagnose the problems. I have also inquired other repair shops, which either no cost or $25 to diagnose problem. It is 10 TIMES only for diagnose. And the price that they offered for repairing the car is TWICE the price that I got from a dealer. RIDICULOUS. read more

It is not often I am rendered speechless but today was an exception. I took my annoyingly expensive to maintain foreign car in for electrical work, and they told me I needed to replace a part. The price they quoted to me was on par with my independent research, and I took the car in for them to switch the part out. Lo and behold, the circuit going to the part was also kaput. The manager/owner dude told me he wasn't going to charge me labor. I gaped at him astounded. I hate going to the mechanic because I have to take their word for... everything. They have a state of the art diagnosis process. Communication was good. I am very satisfied! They are thorough, competent, professional and timely! I would use this repair shop again. There is a 10% discount for AAA members. I took my car to a dealership down the road from PDR and they did not fix the problem. PDR figured out the problem quickly and I had my car back by the next morning. They are the repair shop that AAA recommends. That some says something about this business. read more

I have been on the receiving end of poor service from various automotive shops in the past, and unfortunately you are usually at the mercy of the garage when it comes to working on some of these newer model vehicles. The situation I found myself in with PDR automotive, has been by far the worst. After dropping off my vehicle on a Monday evening after hours for some maintenance I scheduled, maintenance I should point out was strongly suggested by them in the first place, I noted on the drop off envelope that I had a sound emanating from my car I was unfamiliar with, and that my oil pressure alarm had gone off at certain RPM's. Fast forward 2 days later and they had determined that the oil pressure switch was bad and would need to be replaced, on the phone I approved this repair along with a diagnostic that they wanted to do to determine where the sound was coming from. At this point it should be noted that this company is very technologically up to date as far as emailing, text messages, even online reports with pictures included. With that being said, the verbal consent I gave was for an $89.99 diagnostic, as well as a $36.62 oil pressure switch. These are the only costs that I was told about, despite a request for an estimate, (looking back I should have requested a full estimate in writing before anything else, and I strongly urge you to do so anywhere you go as it is the law that they must provide one.) The next day (Thursday) I was called to let me know that they had replaced an oil pressure switch, and that they had run several diagnostic tests, and determined that my Turbo may or may not be getting old, and that I should "Have a diagnostic to check turbo inlet pipe and intercooler". Despite the fact that I had just been charged for 2 separate diagnostics tests, and all this valuable info to the tune of an additional $400 total. After this I was told that the car would be ready for me Thursday end-of-day, to which I get a call around 4pm stating that they would have it done Friday by lunch most likely. When I went to pick my vehicle up at about 3pm on Friday, I received it dirty both inside and out, with the fuel light on, and a bill for $750. The most obvious sign of foul play was a random charge for $50.99 (that I had agreed to in exasperation on Thursday) to pressure wash the engine, in order to monitor for any oil leaking. When I opened the hood of that car, it was as dirty as it had ever been. When I asked the front desk clerk what exactly they washed for $50.99, I was told they washed the area underneath that needed monitoring (The oil filter) and the splash guard. Long Story Short: If you decide to take your car to these people, get everything in writing FIRST! And don't let them try and sell you on unneeded service. They charge generally $10 an hour more than anywhere else in town, and they had 3 diagnostics run on my car, with still no answer as to what was wrong with it. Horrible service all around. I don't like being taking advantage of and I believe I was definitely taken advantage of by PDR Automotive Inc. in Urbana, IL. Service costs for repairs on my vehicle were much higher than dealership (I called to compare item for item, service for service). If you're car isn't running and they service your car, expect to pay more, a lot more. read more

Only 4 stars because I can't say I had a "full" experience yet, like getting a major problem on a vehicle fixed. But what I did so far experience was great. It was a real simple job but they got me going on my project. I was simply trying to change tires on my scooter. The old DIY method, for I'm too cheap to bother paying somebody if I can do it myself. Anyway, my last tire to install was being a real pain in the butt. I could not get it inflated to create a seal and seat the bead of the tire onto the rim. The first tire was easy, but this one was just refusing to inflate. Since I don't have a proper air compressor I had gone to several gas stations around town, spending almost 10 bucks in quarters for their compressor machines. I even got a ratchet cargo strap wrapped around it to try to make the bead seal better, but no dice so I drove around for a shop. I saw "TIRES" on the PDR sign. So I figured I'll give them a visit. I walked in the front door and showed the guy at the desk what my problem was and he quickly got up with enthusiasm and said 'I'll get this no problem'. So he took the wheel to the back, told me to wait. I waited about a couple of minutes and he gave me my cargo strap and I asked him what the trick was. He said they had a high pressure compressor setup that fixes these problems. I asked him what it would cost, he said don't worry about it. A minute later a guy who was helping finish the job handed me my fully inflated wheel. I asked him how much for the job and he also said nothing at all. I was impressed with their quick service, especially when they weren't expecting payment. So I figured I could offer at least a few bucks tip for both guys to split. They both said thanks but no thanks, it was basically too easy for them to accept anything. So I felt the need to write this good review, for they saved me a load of trouble. I wish I would have went there first!!! Of course if I were you I wouldn't expect free service for any problem, but what I had was simple enough for them to do complimentary. I see there are many negative reviews in the past here on Yelp. I think they should be given a second chance, they did well to make a good impression with me. Thanks PDR. read more

Recently bought a new 2003 986 Boxster S with 46k miles, and got a set of winter tires for it from tirerack, asked them about mounting the tyres and aligning them, got quoted 160ish for the mounting and 260 for alignment plus suspension and steering check. I got the tyres mounted from elsewhere for 80 dollars, which is half the price and a week later took the car in for alignment as it was moving to right slightly. I was forced to get the suspension and steering check for 60 dollars , and they said you can take it elsewhere if you don't want to do that. I agreed and dropped the car in the morning, they were kind and also gave me a ride back home, later in the evening I was told that car might take another day, so I decided to go pay a visit, wasn't allowed in the shop for insurance reasons, which is understandable. Drove off, and the issue is still persistent, car is going to the right noticeably and I'm being told it's due to one week of tyre wear and that I would have to get new tyres. I don't know what I paid 270 dollars for, I feel no difference. Hope they decide to help me out, I am positive it's not uneven tyre wear. read more

PDR of Cunningham is a bad place of business. I went in there because my rear taillight and front turn signal went out. I couldn't figure it out but guessed it was something easy, so I took it to the shop. I work a whole bunch and don't have allot of time to self diagnose. I had never been to this shop before but thought id try it out. They called me with a quote of 1000 dollars then when I asked why it was 1000 dollars the guy didn't exactly know. When I went there to speak to the shop In person they said it would be 180 bucks to pick up the car. They said they spent several hours taking it apart but when I came to pick it up it took 20 min to put back together. Both the tail light and turn signal worked. They said the bulbs were bad and one was in the wrong place. So when it boils down to it a shop charged me 180 bucks to get my turn signal and my taillight working. I must have been looking pretty cute that day and that's why they decided to fuck me. I've had luck with kdr in the past and I'll most likely go there or anywhere else. I hope you read this review and try another place. It won't make my 180 bucks come back but it might help the business learn to be a little better with their customers. I would NEVER recommend bringing your vehicle here. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE not once but TWICE. I brought my car in 2 weeks ago due to my engine light being on. They had my car for 2 days. Then they sent me a copy of the things wrong. Due to their ridiculous prices; I only got my camshaft position sensor replaced which was what brought me in anyway. So no problem I guess, after $600 was shelled out for a part we got estimated at $35 before taking it to PDR! So I got my car back and the very next day I started noticing OTHER problems that were NEVER present before and it was never mentioned when they looked over my vehicle 2 weeks ago! I take my car back up there and explain the problems that I am now experiencing. An entire 24 hours later I hear back from them telling me what was wrong, no work had been done. Spark plugs needed to be replaced and there was a wire cluster. AGAIN THESE PROBLEMS WERE NOT PRESENT BEFORE I TOOK MY CAR INTO THEM IN THE FIRST PLACE AND NEVER MENTIONED! Now they say I owe them $280 for LOOKING at my car and the total for the repairs is $1100. This place is a JOKE. NEVER RETURNING and I would advise others to do the same! read more
