Scheduled an appointment, drove 25 miles just to be turned away by a very rude man who told me that they don't schedule appointments at noon because that's their lunch hour, yet i have an email from Richard that says my appointment is at noon! They expected me to wait an hour till they had their lunch instead of just going to lunch a little late to do an estimate for me! After all it was their mistake!! Lunch was more important than I was! Sent here by 2 tire stores to get warranty service on an obvious defective truck tire with 5k miles on it. They wouldn't warranty it "you hit a pot hole" The 2 other places said that was impossible to do that without damage to the wheel and or truck. I never hit anything. read more

These guys know what they are doing and do a great job installing new tires. I got a good deal on four new Goodyear tires and they were installed quickly and precisely. Plus, they didn't scratch the wheels on my VW GTI, which, if you are familiar with the GTI wheels, isn't an easy feat. Finally, they didn't over-tighten the lug nuts on the wheels. I've gotten in the habit over the years of pre-loosening the lug nuts after tire service because most tire places severely over-tighten the lug nuts and it's nearly impossible to remove them on the side of the road if you get a flat. But I was very pleasantly surprised when I got home to find that all the lug nuts were at the proper torque. I highly recommend Urbana True Tires for all tire services. read more

If you want them to take a look at the car and give a quote for the repair, make sure to ask if the quote/consultation is free. Tl;dr * They did not tell me that they would charge for the quote/consultation me until after they performed the tests. * The "diagnostic tests" were things anyone with a obd2 reader and sitting in the car during a drive could do * The desk clerk did not specify what needed to be fixed, how long it would take, and the total cost (parts and labor) * Ask if the quote/consultation will cost you before giving your keys, especially if you are easily taken advantage of. long detailed story below I called asking if I could have them take a look at my car and see if there was any issues with the engine. Based on the phone call, it sounded that it would be a free checkup/quote When I got there the clerk did not mention or ask if I wanted to pay for the consultation. To be fair I did not ask, but at Midas they would ask if I wanted to pay for any tests before conducting them. The mechanics did a road test and looked at the car. After the mechanics were finished, the desk clerk explained the issues the mechanic found. The clerk wasn't specific on what was broken. Everything the clerk mentioned being broken were thing's I could inspected before myself looking under the hood. I was hoping they had more diagnostic tools that could narrow the issues to explain the specific engine issues. Furthermore, the obd codes they gave were ones I could get with own reader. The clerk mentioned broken cables causing the sensor in the car to flood the engine with gas. The desk clerk did not address my concerns with the spark plugs (I mentioned before the tests) and cited the cables as the source of the all engine issues. When I asked cost and duration of the work, the clerk said they would only know the costs once the repairs had started (they gave me a minimum estimate of $1000). They stated that since the wire harnesses were broken, they would need to replace it before they could give a more detailed quote. To avoid being taken advantage of, especially if you are naive or Asian American (I am both), keep your guard up and ask if tests or quotes will cost you before giving your keys. I learned this the hard way when they held my car hostage for $70. read more

I bought tires here 2 years ago. I get them rotated either every other oil change or when my sticker tells me to, whichever comes first. People, you have to take care of your tires! When I came in to price the tires, the staff was super helpful and friendly - they also told me about the promos on tires and I went home to think things over since I had other quotes to consider. They do way more than tires!! The first time I brought my car here it was for tires, and I was surprised to find that they do most all auto services. Since then, I've been going here for a few years, and they have always exceeded my expectations. I can really trust their opinion, and I know that they give me the best deal possible. The staff is very friendly and are willing to explain the details of every repair thoroughly. They've gone out of their way to help me out with some weird problems that come with having an old car, and sound advice for when it was time to sell my old vehicle. On occasion, they've even waived fees for me they didn't feel it was fair for me to pay. A special thank you to Ryan and Rich, they have always taken excellent care of me. The location is very convenient- walking distance to Schnucks, Common Ground Food Co-op, Marketplace Mall, Crane Alley, Black Dog, Courier, Sitara, and all other downtown Urbana restaurants and shops. I live in a residential area near by and can easily walk home after dropping off my car. It's recently changed ownership, the previous long standing store manager is now an owner, and they've made improvements to the waiting area and design of the shop- I love it! I took my Class C motorhome in to the Urbana True Tires for 7 new tires as the ones on my RV was pretty old when I just bought it on 9-16-19. Ryan and Richard researched several options for me an gave me the lowdown on both so as I could make an informed decision. I settled on the brand and they ordered them and I took the RV in Wednesday 9-18-19. Everything went smoothly until they got to replace the 4 back tires. They could not get the outside aluminum rims off as the previous owner evidently had not rotated the tires for quite a few years. Thus the aluminum rims had such bad corrosion they were stuck to the steel hub and they couldn't get the rims off. Some dealers may have said they could not get them off and that was that and sent me on my way or just had me buy new rims at an additional cost. However, Ryan and Richard were determined to give it their all. They kept the RV over several days and nights in their business. They applied a solution to the rims every night and every morning in the hopes of dissolving the corrosion. On the afternoon of the third day, they tackled the rims again and were successful getting them off. Not only did they get them off, they ground all corrosion from inside of the rim and actually ground several millimeters of the inside of the rims so the rims would be a better fit. These professionals went above and beyond the call of duty to keep me from having to spend approximately $1300.00 on two new steel rims in addition to the cost of the new tires. I know this a lengthy, but I can not say enough about these gentlemen and I would highly recommend this business. read more

The best in town for tire services! They have repaired tires for me twice and also put on new tires. They are always very friendly, honest and low-key, not pushy salespeople at all. The work was great and done very quickly. I feel like I can trust their input. They most recently repaired a tire for me that a larger chain store in town insisted was beyond repair. I had gone to the larger store because it was Sunday and Urbana Tire was closed. Through a series of events, it became clear that they were dishonest and only interested in selling tires at all costs, so I opted to wait to visit Urbana Tire on Monday when they opened. They were perplexed by the diagnosis by the other shop of needing a new tire when the only issue was a screw about a half an inch inch long. They fixed it quickly and put on 2 new tires, taking the time to explain my options and not at all pushing for the top of the line. As good as it gets!! :-) read more

Just wanted to give a thumbs up to Urbana True Tires! The staff is very friendly, patient, accommodating, and honest. While on a tight schedule, I anticipated having to patch a not-yet-flat tire after I ran over a screw, but they said it would likely need replacing. Ryan suggested just swapping it with my full-sized spare - which we did. Took probably 15 minutes. It was ultimately just a tire change, but the fact that they charged me nothing was pretty incredible. In this day and age, service like that is a rare thing indeed. Experienced a tire blowout on my way home from work and after I assessed the damage and no one stopped to help, managed to pull into a lot across the street from Urbana True Tires, not seeing their business initially until after I parked. Managed my way across the busy Vine Street and asked them for help and the friendly manager immediately had one of his crew assisting me. The equally-kind mechanic changed the tire to the spare only to find out my spare was flat, fixed the spare up so I could drive over to their shop. I was prepared to buy a new tire there, but they didn't have it in stock that late afternoon, but they checked the tires, aired up the spare, so that I could make it home. When I asked to pay them for their time, I was told that there would be no charge. May seem like a minor thing, but in today's world, it's rare to find shops that will go out of their way to help someone and not even charge for their time. Great business sense for sure, because I will definitely consider Urbana True Tires for future tire needs. read more
