I decided to get my first ever facial right before my trip and I am so happy that I came to Alice! Alice is an extremely friendly and knowledgeable esthetician! She explained to me the difference in the facial options and was so patient. I decided to get the moisturizing facial for $60 as a trial. Alice's salon is very clean which is a huge plus. Her chairs are comfortable and she provides clean blankets to keep you snug while getting your facial. The facial was fantastic. She pointed out the problems in my skin and was able to remove so much dirt and other grime from my face. I came out feeling sooo refreshed. On top of the facial, she cleaned up my eyebrows and provided a therapeutic shoulder massage, both of which I desperately needed. Now my eyebrows are shapely and trimmed. I didn't even have to tell her anything specific. Alice just knows what shape is best for your facial structure and she has really strong hands for a great massage! Before leaving, she brought out all of the skin care that she used for my skin type. She told me everything about every item including when to use it and what it does for my skin. I was sold as I don't have a skin care routine already (everyone should have a skin care routine!). Her professionalism plus her welcoming vibes makes her stand out! Brazilian waxes are unfortunately not her forté because she went over the same area multiple times (3+) which caused more pain for me. The ordeal was about 20 minutes and left me tender. When I got home, I plucked the remaining (15-20+) hairs that she didn't notice despite her best efforts. 24 hours later, I was still tender and sore which puts this waxing experience on the bottom tier--I've been to 3 other waxers and have waxed myself before. I don't usually write reviews for beauty salons, but this one is definitely worth the time! I have been going here for years. Alice, the esthetician, is great and knows my skin condition better than I do. I usually book my appointments bi-weekly or once a month (during my busy months) and Alice is always very welcoming. When I first came in, I didn't know too much about facials. However, Alice was very patient and she took her time explaining different facial treatments to me. She designed and recommended me a facial treatment to especially target my dry skin. Her facials are targeted to really clean your pores. Blackheads, pimples, and moles, I have done them all. I always leave feeling clean and refreshed. I also really like some of the products she recommended me. Since I have dry skin, I really appreciate the toner and the moisturizer. I use it on my skin everyday and it really shows. I also would recommend the cleanser as well. I have used other products previously, but they all left me feeling more dry than before. However, Alice's cleanser makes me feel clean and doesn't make my face all dry after I wash up. As for pricing wise, it is VERY affordable. I cannot find another place that offer such great service and results at such a low price. I would recommend buying a package; it's more worth it and you don't have to worry about payment every time you come in. There is no one else I would rather trust my skin with than Alice! Since I have started coming here, I feel my skin getting healthier and cleaner. For anyone that needs skin care, I would definitely recommend Alice. read more

Don't be fooled by the minimal decor. This place has a lot to offer in terms of facials. I have been setting up appointments with Alice since college. I make appointments everytime I am up north visiting family. The prices are very very affordable. You don't get the whole spa experience and all that jazz like you would at Burke Williams, but she does a great job cleansing your face, extractions, exfoliating, masks, etc. All her tools are sanitized and she uses natural stuff on your face. Sure, extractions hurt like a mother because you gotta get down to it in order to get all of it out, but she makes sure she cleans the open pore and disinfects. You can purchase packages. Of course, the more you include in the package, the less each session costs. You can also share packages too. My mom and sister let me use a part of their package when I need to make an appointment. She does stuff catered toward your particular skin type (ie. sensitive skin, microdermabrasion). You definitely leave with your face feeling clean and refreshed. On top of facials, she also can do makeup, tattoo makeup, laser treatment for moles, and eyebrow shaping. The laser makes me want to cry every time. She also sells facial products (Joanphil) that are very natural. I have been using one particular face wash from her for over 3 years and nothing cleanses my skin as well as her facewash. It was the incredibly cheesy name of this Spa that drew me in. For I fight for love and justice! And nice skin, of course. So for those of you who know the depths of my soul, you know I'm a guy who puts in a bunch of effort in maintaining healthy looking skin. Typically I do pretty well, but a recent international trip to Japan had my clear skin erupting like angry volcanos. Desperate, afraid and incredibly sad, I tried to find a local place that could soothe my hellish pores. First of all, know that Alice is a nice lady. Your standard basic but nice Chinese lady esthetician. I opted for the problem skin treatment, which was like 60 bucks. And...meh. She gets a plus for trimming my bushy AF eyebrows while cleaning my face, but the results of the actual facial itself were not as spectacular. I had a couple pimples not fully extracted and a bunch pores still clogged. How do I know this? I had another facial several days after (cause girl, I knew something was off) and bam. Extractions like cray cray were happening. Andddd not to mention the whole "facial" was only about 45 minutes. No therapeutic massage. Just slightly lack luster cleansing, extractions, masks and weird lightning rod of Thor that shocked my skin like no tomorrow. Sigh. My acne prone, oily skin did not find salvation here. But the place is tidy, the lady is nice, and maybe you'll have better luck than me. read more

Usually I'm really picky about beauty products and the place I'm going to, but I love this beauty salon! The only beauty place I trust and love...skin is something we care about and Alice(the owner and beautician of Peace and Beauty) does a wonderful job at everything. I've done the facials for my acne(clears everything out...may feel a sting or a bit of pain, but worth for a clean face, waxing, makeup, mole/tag remover. There are more types of facial she does, makeup for all kinds of occasions, short term makeup tattoos, and plenty more! Alice uses the newest technology and awesome products to improve skin. I got a Brazilian wax and this time they waxed my butt. The first time I went they didn't. Alice was awesome! Efficient and professional. It hurt a bit but it was tolerable. I have never written a bad review before, but my eyebrows were done so poorly that I had to post this. I warned her from the beginning that I did not want them too thin, and that I didn't want too much of an arch. Well, she gave me the two exact things which I explicitly said I did not want. And then she had the nerve to say that she'll be able to do better next time I come in! I tipped only because it was polite, but if I had my way I would've rather burned that money than give it to her. I now have thin triangular - I kid you not, triangular - eyebrows. I just went to Peace & Beauty Salon today for the first time for a brazilian wax. I never had one before. It was quite painful but Alice the owner was gentle and so kind! She did a great job. Alice is the best! I have been to many beauty salons in the bay area in addition to others overseas when I traveled for business trip before. My neighbor Ann has been Alice's client for over a decade. She never ages because of beautiful skin. So I decided to ask for her referral and then started to realize that maintaining beauty is pending on a skillful facial beautician. Among all experience, I would say that Alice is the one that does the best facial job to get rid of all acne and blackhead and impurities from my skin. Alice also does very well to get rid of moles and her laser skin care treatment targets age - spots, yellow speckles, freckles, and hormone spots with minimal pain! My daughter is quite picky but whenever she returns home for vacation, in spite of hectic visit schedule, she would always make trip to Alice's salon for facial or even moles removal. I have been to this beauty shop several times for the treatment of brown spots/melasma on my face. The owner is an experienced beautician who carefully got rid of the pigmentation. After several treatments, the discoloration was less noticeable, and some brown spots were completely gone. My husband also went to get rid of the numerous dark spots and moles on his face. I even had my teenage son go there so the beautician could clean up his acne. During the visit, we got a free lesson on teenager facial care. I highly recommend this beauty shop! read more
