I am beyond thankful for Peaceful Passage. My boy took a turn for the worse overnight and we knew it was time. I called early in the morning and was able to get an app for the same day. The person on the phone was very nice and compassionate and explained what the process would be once the doctor arrived. All information was taken care of over the phone, making the visit smooth and efficient. When the doctor arrived, she also took the time to get to know our boy and was seriously the best doctor we could've asked to do this. I always knew I wanted at-home euthanasia, and after my experience with Peaceful Passage, I know I 100% made the right choice. My boy died surrounded by so much love and care, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Thank you Peaceful Passage

We first reached out to Peaceful Passage, serving the MD/DC area, in March, leaving our names, our contact information, and Harley's name, weight, and a little bit of backstory for her experiences at the vet. Nine months later, our still-precious first rescue, having lost a little weight, still a 120-lb. German Shepherd/Rottweiler mix, could no longer get up; and we knew it was time, with her having given us everything: endless joy, unceasing laughter, and unconditional love. The two doctors that made the trip to our home, to help us say goodbye to our septuagenarian puppy, compassionately and calmly explained how the process would go, eliciting our help in steering her on that final, fantastic voyage. We told her we would soon see her again and that, before she knew it, she would be treating fields of buttercups, her favorite flower, as her own balloon-filled bouncy castle with herself as its dragon.

I could not have asked for a better last few moments with my dog Curly Fry. They are able to get Dr. Ernst out to my house the same day I called and she was very respectful of of the situation. She said and did all of the right things and it went as smoothly as it could have. The letter we received a week later even had some personal touches to it which made my heart warm .

This place is amazing. Honestly one of the best choices of my life to have them help my beloved pup pass, it was peaceful and exactly the ending my beautiful Mr Peterson deserved. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this company, it was over two years ago that I said goodbye and I still remember how it was the easiest part of such a rough experience.

My experience with Peaceful Passage was beyond 5 stars from start to finish. I called very early on a Sunday morning to schedule a consultation as my husband & I were facing the decision to let our sweet Beagle (Scarlett) free from the cancer she was suffering. I spoke to Lindsey first who listened to my observations, concerns, and uncertainty over if now was the time. She reassured me that everything I was feeling was normal and explained we did have a small window before our girl would be much worse. I talked things through with my husband and called back to schedule the home visit. I spoke to Elizabeth who was also amazing and so kind. All of my questions were answered and I never felt pressured either way. Dr. Thompson came to our house at the scheduled time (and called when she was on her way). She even honored my odd request to not knock when she arrived and just walk into our house, as I knew Scarlett was too weak to do her usual howling and greeting she gave to all visitors. Dr. Thompson sat right on the floor with us and let Scarlett sniff her and her bags. She then explained the process and prepared us before each step. She even fielded a last minute question/request to have the cremations split into 2 portions. Our sweet Scarlett was given peace & comfort in her last moments with us thanks to the service of Peaceful Passage. I highly recommend this company to assist anyone facing the same (toughest) decision & experience.

Saying goodbye to my baby boy Raja was the hardest decision I've ever had to make. But I am so thankful to have gone with Peaceful Passage. He was always terrified of the vet and I knew that wasn't how we were meant to say goodbye. The woman who answered the phone when I had to make that dreaded call was exceptionally kind and compassionate. Dr. Thompson arrived on time, gave us all the time we needed, and was incredibly supportive. Her heart was with us the whole time and we could feel it. She even sent us a sweet note in the mail a few days later.

The vet techs were nice. When the male vet came in, he barely introduced himself. I tried explaining I'm new to cats and wasn't familiar with how vet visits go. He then asks me to "scruff him." I have no idea what that meant, I just said I'm new to cats. He seemed irritated and brought in a vet tech. I thought he was just going to look at his anal area, only to discover he was expressing my cat's anal glands. Did not explain to me what he was going to do nor what an anal gland expression entails. Then he tossed the pus covered paper towels into the trash, and missed. And left it there. I tried asking more questions and felt dismissed. At one point the vet literally just ignored me as he was writing notes. Oh, he listened to my cat's heart and lungs and said everything "sounded good." It's two months later at a different vet, and my cat has a heart murmur and asthma! I brought my cat back one more time for another anal gland expression. When I called ahead asking for the price, they told me it would be $20 + $5 vet tech fee. When it was time to pay, it was $30 or $35 + $5 vet tech fee. Felt like they were just pulling out random numbers. The vet techs were nice overall, but after all of that, I just got a weird vibe and won't be bringing him back.

See below for details. All records/documents were provided (at the businesses request) in advance of the appointment, the front desk confirmed receipt of the same. We were told that they must review documents before our appointment time, no matter what. At the appointment, tech claimed they didn't receive any documents. I showed proof that this was untrue and had to explain my pets history to the tech. Later, when the veterinarian came into our room, she had not reviewed the history/documents provided nor been updated on anything by the tech. I was then advised to get my kitten a specific treatment and vaccine but I had to remind them she already had it done, which was in the records and history I already gave multiple times by now. If they had treated her without my reminder, my kitten could have become severely sick. Additionally, the staff did not seem concerned with how they physically handled my docile and sweet kitten. At the end of the appointment, there was no advice given for our situation but we were charged $100 to be seen. It was acknowledged that if they had reviewed the documents before the appointment, as they specified they would do, then the appointment was unnecessary. I recognize that there are specific protocols in place to keep staff safe but those protocols were extremely unnecessary in our situation. I wish they were more careful as my kitten was already injured and definitely not a threat in any capacity. Overall, I wish this place had treated us with more empathy and respect. It didn't seem like they cared about my kittens wellbeing and only cared about making some money.

Our cat was in desperate need of euthanasia and it happened abruptly - I phoned around that day and this was a vet who could come that same day. I'm scratching my head over this and cannot reconcile the - well, the unethical behavior -- The vet was kind and very professional - But this monetary component has left me with a very sour outlook. Save for this shady handling of fees, I would readily have considered using this vet in the future as it is closer to my home --- but not now. If I hadn't been so desperate to help my cat, I would have chosen another route.

When he is available, he checks in on our dog to see how he is doing. The treatment itself is administered, most of the time, by the technician who runs the desk. Every once in a while this can cause delays, like that one week where the lady was giving her pet's life story and running through her entire month schedule while trying to set up a follow up appointment. As a…read morepet owner, nothing is more scary than seeing your baby not feeling well and being unable to pinpoint exactly what's wrong. I had taken her to another vet previously who couldn't find anything wrong after some standard blood work. They pretty much said "We don't know, could be pancreatitis maybe but not sure" and left it at that. So this weekend, I decided to try Doc-Side and brought Amelia in for an emergency visit around 12pm on Saturday. I had called in advance so they knew I was coming and allowed me to come in even though they close at 1:30pm on Saturdays. We were checked in and seated in a room immediately. The nurse came in and took down some basic info and did a quick check on Amelia. Then Dr. Tierney came in about 20-30 minutes later to perform a more in depth exam. Dr. Tierney performed the most detailed exam I've ever seen. Our other vet had barely done the type of physical checks I'd seen her perform. They then took her back for testing. The estimate for all recommended services was clearly explained to me and I didn't feel pressured into anything. I got a call on my way home that the pancreatitis test was negative. And then by Monday morning, I got a call saying her bloodwork hasn't revealed anything specific yet so we'll continue to do some tests to find out what the problem could be. That said, I have more confidence in Dr. Tierney than my other vet given the care and detail with which she approached the situation. She explained everything in depth and does her best to create a "no-fear" atmosphere for each pet. I would recommend taking notes or asking to record her as she is more of an auditory person than a note-taker.

He should not be allowed to provide any kind of veterinarian services if this is how he chooses to conduct himself. Took my dog in because he was feeling sick and not eating in February. Dr. Pineau (the ONLY doctor who works there) said he had a high white blood cell count and was trying to fight off an infection. Sent us home with antibiotics. As my dog is taking the antibiotics he's still not eating, so I call back about that, Pineau gives me prednisone. I go for a follow up appointment and get another blood test done, and he says my dog is still battling this infection with a high WBC, gives me a different kind of antibiotic and tells me to keep him on the prednisone. All the while my dog's eating has still been low, and at this point he's lost like 10-15lbs. I go for another follow up, but this time my dog's legs are hurting him really bad, like he won't even walk. So Pineau takes him in the back, gives him two pain shots (without consulting me) and comes back and tells me the pain is in his hind legs, and that the shots should help, and that I should give him pain pills for 2 weeks. Two days later I get the blood test results and Pineau says his WBC is good now, my dog should be all better if he just keeps taking the pain pills. The next morning I wake up and my dogs back legs are so weak he can't even walk. I take him to an ER and the ER doc gets my medical records and is SHOCKED by the fact that my dog had been SEVERELY anemic the entire time I was taking him to Dr. Pineau and he NEVER said anything about it. Not only that, the white blood cell count that he was so worried about? Wasn't even in the high range until my 2nd blood test. She scanned my dog's bladder to see if she needed to put in a catheter (because he couldn't stand to pee), and found his spleen was riddled with nodules (presumably tumors), and said that all of these things are signs of a cancer in the blood, and that my dog would have a few months left at best... So I had to put him down ONE DAY after Dr. Pineau said he was perfectly fine. This vet is a disgusting human being who stole the last little bit of time I had with my dog because he lied straight to my face with no remorse. I'm not sure if it was because my dog was a rottweiler, or I was a young black woman who he thought was just too dumb to know any better, or if he just didn't care, or a combination of all three. P.S. To the nice lady at the front desk who always remembered my name and my dog and when our appointments were? You're the best. Please find another place to work because I won't stop until I've gotten justice for my dog and myself.

UNPLEASANT & VERY UNPROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE…read more After reading most of the relevant reviews on this hospital, it appears they used to be good, but the service has declined after certain doctors left this practice. I experienced that today with both doctors, Dr. Pineau & Dr. Bradley. Both doctors are extremely unprofessional, dismissive, rude and disrespectful. My 12 year old, 10lb chihuahua required service. When I made the appointment, I informed the receptionist that he is aggressive (as many of chihuahuas are) however she did not give any specific instructions while making the appointment. When I arrived and checked in, I asked the receptionist and vet tech if they wanted me to muzzle him before they took him back. The vet tech went back and gave me a long leash and I told her I did not know how to use that as a muzzle, so she took him back with no muzzle. I heard my dog struggling in pain with them in the back, then Dr. Bradley brought him back in the room VERY hostile telling me I am going to have to take him else where because he is trying to bite the staff... When I tried to speak and tell her that I offered to muzzle him multiple times, and the vet tech stated, "it was ok", she then kept interrupting me while I was trying to talk. She then asked me where he was seen and has any other vet hospital declined services. When I told me no, she then asked, "Well why did you come here". This woman wanted to argue because she apparently hates her job. It makes zero sense that they will decline services to a 10 lb, 12 yr old chihuahua but literally while I was getting checked in, they did not decline service to a 60-70lb shepherd that came in with a e-collar growling. That dog is larger and came in the lobby growling. My dog did not growl not once in the lobby, he's only aggressive towards anyone handling him so make it make sense. I had to tell her to let me talk because I am the client for her to finally shut up for a second so I could talk. I expressed how she was wrong for coming in the room hostile without offering options such as we will bring out an e-collar, muzzle or do the services in the room to allow the owner to handle/restrain the dog. After she finally got the correct type of muzzle and brought in the room, she already made everything hostile and was still being rude to me, I was not going to allow those people to service my dog from that point. I went back to the front and asked to speak with another doctor or manager. She took me back to the room where I tried to report how rude Dr. Bradley was towards me but Dr. Pineau also got dismissive and even flicked his old hand in my face. These private owned, hole in the wall (the place literally has bullet holes in the walls) vet hospitals are the ones you want to stay away from as the can operate on their own beliefs and feelings. The franchise hospitals have to maintain professionalism, provide customer service, and work with/accommodate the clients. The doctors at Aardmore do not care. Pay for quality if you love your animals.
