I've had a really positive experience with Eastern Animal Hospital so far. They've been kind and gentle with Max, responsive when I need an appointment, and the facility is always clean. When he needed treatment for an ear infection around the same time he was due for vaccines, they helped me think through a plan to spread out the costs while still making sure he got everything he needed. I've also had a great experience with their pharmacy. The pharmacist was incredibly helpful and informative when we switched one of Max's prescriptions. My only minor inconvenience was that they no longer carry Simparica Trio in-house, but we were able to find an alternative that worked for us. Overall, everyone from the front desk to the veterinary team has been friendly, helpful, and sweet with Max. I'm glad we made the switch! read more

I should have known better than to give this hospital another try. Unfortunately, I found the staff to be "fake friendly" and felt that important information was not communicated upfront. I encourage pet parents to explore other veterinary practices where they feel genuinely cared for and where both the pet and the pet parent are treated with compassion and transparency. Paying more does not necessarily mean receiving better service or care. And one more thing: I'm not taking my "friend" to the vet. I'm taking my pet--my fur baby. Updating my review to say that 6 years later, EAH remains one of the best places ever! I truly feel like the staff are family now with how often my boy, Koda, comes in for daycare and boarding. Koda literally runs to the door in excitement when he knows he gets to see his favorite people and doggie friends! Eastern Animal Hospital is an exceptional veterinary office, their urgent care option has saved me a number of times when my senior dogs needed a same day appointment. The staff is so kind and knowledgeable, they care about both your pet's and your experience. I lost my two senior dogs a few years ago and the compassionate care they gave to my babies on their last days brought me to tears. Pet loss is so difficult Perhaps the best way I can describe it, is to say that my even my dog loves coming here! He attends boarding occasionally, and when I bring him through the doors he is ready to run to the back and play. I've been taking my dogs there for years but now it's all about the money!!!!! My puppy had been itching at his ears and needed to be seen by a veterinarian. Finally got an appointment after five -six days and we are regular customers . Puppy into exam room and first thing I'm told is they need to do an expensive ear cleaning before the vet will even look in his ears . 50-70.00 ear cleaning before even an exam. I had already cleaned the pups ears and the if the vet had even looked in his ears he would have seen that. The total bill was gonna be 260.00 for just treating a yeast ear infection without adding the medication cost. I called around to other offices and they all said the same thing. How can you even suggest an ear cleaning before examining the ears! This will also be reported to the BBB of Baltimore . So basically if you don't pay the money to have an ear cleaning, Easter Animal Hospital vets will not even examine your dogs ears . This was not my usual vet I normally see there and I would hope when someone sees this from there , she would address this issue immediately unless this is they're practice of further gouging they're patients for more money. My puppy is Odie McDaniel and we are definitely changing vets after finding out no other vets even suggest an ear cleaning without first examining the dog . The level of kindness shown by the employees of Eastern was unlike anywhere else I've ever been. Shawna helped me tremendously when I had to bring my cat in for a urgent sick visit. Shawna reassured me that I didn't need to feel rushed ( I came in towards closing time ) she made me feel like I mattered and u don't see that kind of care very much now a days. The doctors and all the staff worked very hard to help me be able to find resources to pay for the bill. They eased my worries during a scary time. When an animal u love is sick and money is scarce it can be very emotional. The staff were so understanding. I also think the medical care is the highest level and gold standard. The best in this field of veterinary care is Eastern. Some of their prices are more expensive than other places HOWEVER the quality of care that u get is better than other places. I've been to the lower priced clinics and the care n service is not that good. U get what u pay for AND they also work with u by helping me find resources to be able to make payment arrangements. So I took my Abigail (golden retriever) to them when she suddenly became sick, lethargic, and started to lose her energy quickly! I assumed it was the fact that she ingested some antifreeze, as I caught her licking something suspicious out front! I took her to Eastern Animal Hospital and was told by Dr Michelotti (which may be misspelled), that not only did she believe that she ingested that due to a light test on her teeth, but that Abby also had a huge tumor in her belly which was a fast growing cancer, and her belly was filled with blood! She stated this a known fast cancer for goldens and wanted to euthanize her immediately, stating she had 24-48 hrs, to which I declined, because at that time and up til her death, which was a week later, she didn't seem to be in pain. However, they just kept insisting that euthanasia was the smart thing to do even when I called back with questions about IV fluids a day or two later per her prescriptions! It was all about euthanizing her! With that said, and respectfully my boyfriend and I decided to take her home and let her pass peacefully at home with those that love her! No doubt I was in some sort of disbelief, and still am, but was caught off guard with such a demanding response that euthanizing her was the best choice! So they gave me meds to keep her comfortable and I brought her home and on Sat (a few days later,) I called and spoke to the staff, about the IV electrolytes The Dr prescribed and how to administer; Nat, was wonderful! Walked me through how to do the IV fluids etc., and couldn't thank her enough! The night I left the hospital with Abby, I was so distrought by the prognosis, I returned thinking I lost my phone! Danielle came outside and even helped me find it, which again, due to being so upset, and feeling blind sided by this prognosis, and the Drs stern belief to euthanize her immediately ; she helped me and saw it right in my Jeep! I hugged her, cried, and just went on my way! As I stated I than spoke to Nat on Sat a few days later who spoke to me for 40 mins on the phone and walked me thru every step of the way thru the electrolyte IV fluids and could not thank her enough! My boyfriend had read and ordered B17 which has been known and studied to be a cure for cancer (although not FDA approved) Prior to giving that to Abby I wanted to hear the DOCTORS opinion of the vitamin and called for such! I spoke to Carly who later called me back stating hastily "Dr Michelotti says NO it's cyanide and will kill her immediately!" Well isn't that what ya all wanted to do anyway???? With that said, I asked if the Dr could PLEASE call me back WHEN SHE HAD TIME because after spending over 2k to find out my dog was dying, I thought I deserved a call directly from the Dr to answer my many questions about B17 to which Carly, had no answers for and said such! Carly than hung up with me and told the Dr I cursed at her, the staff, and cursed about the Dr??? Why in the world would I cuss people out when I desperately needed their help??? When Dr Michelotti called me back before she would even speak to me, she told me that she didn't appreciate me cussing her nor her staff out and after I explained, she said she would mark my chart with my side of the story??? My side of the story was nothing more or less than the truth! I was losing my fur baby at 9.5 yrs and was definitely not cussing anyone! If anything I was thankful at that time for their services! I just asked to speak to the Dr WHEN SHE HAD TIME!!! After My Abby passed they met me outside, took her and had her cremated etc charging me another $400 and were very kind and sympathetic which was clearly an act!!! Today I received a call from a Cierraro (probably misspelled) requesting my side of the story because I emailed Carly and the staff wanting an apology for her lying! Instead, I was told in the future my other pets were not allowed there, and to seek help elsewhere?? Funny how they were so kind and faked sympathy in order to take that additional $400 to cremate her yet now I can't go there in the future all because of Carly lying on me!! This is not over, and not that I would return there anyway, but my lawyer will be in touch! This is pure disrespect and not at all something you call and say to someone who just lost their fur baby less than a week ago! Shame on this hospital! My review is not over! Keep believing Carly maybe she should be monitored in and on how she treats patience because she's clearly not where she wants to be and is lying on respectful people! They care for my girls as if they were their own, the pet service and customer service is top notch and I would never go anywhere else. I have had a few emergencies and they made sure no matter how busy they were they fit me in. They care deeply not only for the fur babies but also for the parents of them, they never rush through appointment and are very thorough in making sure my girls are happy and healthy. Brought my Staffy here because he was in pain and hadn't eaten in two days. Had no clue what was going on with him. I called the night before to get some advice and ask about appointments and was told about the urgent care process. The next morning I followed the instructions that I was given and was able to get an early appointment. We rushed right over and they saw my boy immediately. They were friendly and very patient (as he walked very slow due to the pain or my husband had to carry him). He was a little nervous leaving hubby and I, but they allowed me to walk with him when it was time to get his x-ray. I was grateful for that, since I just wanted him to feel comfortable in this new place. Ultimately, we left with a couple of prescriptions which have done the trick. My baby is back to his usual energetic and greedy self... LOL His little brother is ecstatic to have his playmate back (and so are we. IYKYK)! Thank you to everyone we encountered. When I moved to Baltimore from the west coast, I chose this vet due to their AHA certification and claims that they were an elite hospital. The experience I had with them was the exact opposite of what their credentials claimed. On one particular visit, they told me that I should euthanize, then ran blood tests and told me that he was fine and euthanasia was out of the question. You can't be so fickle in matters of life and death of peoples loved ones/pets. My Boston Terrier had developed an infection in his bladder which was causing him to drink tons of water and pee excessively. The vet charged me over $6000 in the span of a few weeks only to tell me they didn't really know what was wrong. The issue was actually with his kidneys, and I'm not sure whether it was made worse by the medicine they put him on which was known to cause kidney damage. When my dog's health declined (many months later) I took him in right when the clinic opened to be euthanized and was turned away. That was the final straw for me. This clinic does not have well trained staff, they are not accommodating, they are only interested in racking up a huge bill for you with pointless tests, and worst of all they are heartless. No one should ever visit this horrible business. Take your pets somewhere that will actually care about them. read more

I have posted many reviews over the last 30 years about the wonderful care my Golden Retrievers have received. We boarded our Golden last week and he immediately got a mental state and wouldn't eat. The staff worked like crazy to entice him and Dr. Perez examined him to see if there was a medical issue. It turns out there is a separate medical issue that Dr. Perez discovered and she has worked like crazy to make sure we follow up with the proper treatment. As to his lack of eating, a total scam. Duke is almost 12 and he wants his parents! We get him home and I test him by putting some food in the bowl and he devours it. He hasn't missed a meal! Thank you Dr. Perez. read more

I brought our Beagle to the EAH urgent care after some on & off symptoms that were uncharacteristic for her. We saw the vet tech Alaina & Dr. Kaufman who were both so kind & patient. Unfortunately, the visit resulted in an advanced cancer diagnosis that didn't offer any treatment options except to make our girl comfortable until we said goodbye. Dr. Kaufman was able to deliver this devastating news with the most comforting bedside manner. EAH was not our regular vet, but will be when we are ready to be dog parents again. read more

I love some of the vets here, but today's experience has us heading to a new establishment. We have a litter of 11 working dog puppies on ground, and mom had to be pulled out at 2 weeks for emergency surgery. They've been formula fed ever since. We are getting ready to move and need to vaccinate them before we start our drive to Florida. We called and scheduled our vaccination/litter exam appt for this morning. When we scheduled we confirmed that they would vaccinate two days ahead of the 6 week mark. The receptionist conferred with others and confirmed that two days wasn't an issue. Today we took our vulnerable puppies out of their whelping area; loaded them up (took an hour); hauled them into a vets office (potentially exposing them to God knows what); fended off a receptionist who stuck her fingers in their cage without asking; just to be told that they intended to just do a litter exam (no vaccines) and that I would have to return in two days for shots (and pay exam fees all over again). The litter exam consists of them weighing and deworming (things I've already done) so we just left and made an appointment elsewhere. If they had told me at scheduling that they couldn't vaccinate during the litter exam, we would have skipped the litter exam and scheduled for next week (without the unnecessary exposure). They insisted we do them together (to save us money- even though I told them I didn't care- my priority was vaccinations). The vet didn't even have the decency to come talk to us this morning. The vet sent the tech (who was great) to handle their dirty work. Do better Eastern- for the sake of the few great vets you have on your staff. read more

I really like eastern animal hospital, they are thorough and accommodating. I switched my dogs after so many great recommendations, but honestly the experience was sub par... I have to say: vets and staff are great! (Dr. Dewitt is amazing). Really hoping this is a speed bump and business is not normally run this way. However (hopefully this is a covid only issue) I waited 2-4 hours on separate occasions for two different foster dogs to get routine shots. Should note before I get comments assuming it was discounted, my rescue organization paid full price and hope eastern can help out local dog and cat fosters moving forward.:) Overall-- would recommend, despite my frustrations, hopefully can update with positive feedback once the pandemic is over! read more

The people at the front desk very sweet and helpful as well as the one female vet. But the MALE vet was very aggressive and didn't let my dog get comfortable with him and just grabbed him my dog afterward was barking at him and only at him. When he was taking him out for an ear clean he started to drag him so I picked him up instead. When he came back my dog was BLEEDING and his ears were RED I asked why is he bleeding he said it was normal for a CLEANING. My dog was in distress he never acted that with the vets. NEVER going back plus I waited for 2:30 HOURS I checked in at 5:50 and didn't leave until 8:45. HORRIBLE that man was just aggressive and SUPER EXPENSIVE!!! read more

Very friendly team. Admitted me in fast. I called to schedule a next available appointment to get a health certificate for my dog to travel to Guatemala as well as get his urination looked in to. I was so happy to find out that they could get me in at 10AM the next day (Sunday) so I can get the very time sensitive health certificate. When they did the urinalysis they apparently spilled most of the urine so my dog became pretty stressed while they attempted to get more urine for a proper test. After a long wait I was told they couldn't get more urine so could not give me definitive test but since they ran the test (with the little remaining urine) I would be charged in full. When I questioned they said the results are never definitive so it was the same difference. Then why did we take nearly an hour trying to get more Urin? They then stated I could get an X-ray to find out more about him having stones or just give him the medication that was being provided for his skin as it could also potentially help. I elected to get the X-ray for my 11 year old dog in fear that something could be wrong and I love him so much. I also had to get blood work for a medication they wanted to provide. This also showed nothing except that the urinary track is inflamed but we don't know why. Referred to observe for 2 weeks. I then asked what's the next step for the very time sensitive health certificate. They told me the vet I was scheduled with is unable to provide. The entire reason that I chose this vet for the fast appointment. 2.5 hours and $891 later I left with no further information on the urinary inflammation nor did I receive the health certificate. However, I was informed that my dog has a bacterial infection on his skin which is good to know. Needless to say not very happy. 1 week later after multiple calls received call back from Director Justin who stated that I should get services from another vet. read more

Today it is an entirely professional, pet parent friendly, place not see in a very long time. Dr. Beizavi is great! The staff is great! And helpful when you want to treat your animal child well and are working class. I saved up for this visit and it was better and more thorough than I could expect from the treatment before! My family and I experienced a wonderful, albeit odd, contact-free visit at Eastern Animal Hospital with Dr. Sole. My experience with EAH was efficient and exceptional from start to finish. The staff was very helpful when we initially made our appointment, fielding our concerns (our pup had an ear infection) and walking us through what to expect with our upcoming visit in terms of social-distancing protocol. Submitting prior vet history/records was a breeze (we were able to do this electronically via email). Upon arrival, care was taken to ensure they weren't overbooked - there was ample space in the parking lot to practice distancing and we didn't wait long at all for a tech to come and retrieve our pup. Admittedly, the hardest part of the process was leaving our girl to be examined and seen alone, without us but Dr. Sole made the best of this odd situation and was very comforting during our phone call with her. We received a subsequent call from the front desk to make payment and then our pup was brought back to us with accompanying antibiotics and instructions. Highly recommend a visit to EAH in the unfortunate event that your pup is sick. We'll be returning for our routine visits in the future. read more

I and my dog love Eastern Animal Hospital... DVM Kaufman is an angel!! ...A gifted and professional veterinarian. In addition to annual/preventive care, such as exams and vaccines, my dog has received two surgical procedures at EAH: dental and musculoskeletal. Before and after each procedure, communication and information from the EAH staff was prompt, thorough, and educational. Also, I never sensed that I [and my canine] was "just a number" or a profit source. Most importantly, following each procedure, my dog was in great condition, and recovered as well as I could have hoped. Took my cat Cleo here, 2hr wait. I went home to eat and got a frantic message from the front desk regarding my whereabouts. I called  back, waited on hold for ten minutes, then explain that the vet Lisa said it was okay to go eat, the person said well I have to check on that because you are NOT allowed to leave without filling out paperwork. She said hold on. I hung up. Went back for them to tell me my cat had gas and gave me a bill for $900. After quoting me $600. Asked for copy of bill to look over before paying, they said NO? When I got home my cat was fine. I tried  to return unopened med. next day, They lied and said federal law forbids that. Fed law prohibits returning open medication. The entire staff truly cares for the family pets that come through their doors. My dog had an urgent care need and they were compassionate and skilled. He was able to come home a few hours after arriving. I was armed with medication and special food to continue his care at home along with detailed instructions to supply him with the care he needed. Very unhappy with this establishment. I paid for an Urgent Visit for my English Bulldog due to her panting heavily and having a UTI. My urgent appointment was 11am, I wasn't seen until 12 and I did not get out until 2:30pm. $700 later I was sent home with clavamox and cannot even get my lab report so I can go and see a competent Vet!!! My first experience with Easter Animal Hospital was an emergency ER visit after my dog was attacked by several other dogs (having never been to this location before). Before I was even handed paperwork, they had a team working on her to make sure she was taken care of quickly, efficiently, and compassionately. Not only did they clean her wounds, but they cleaned her up from gravel and grass she had all over her, going above and beyond "life saving". The team there checked on me regularly while she was in the back and kept me updated on everything they were doing. They clearly explained to me my options should anything detrimental happen, and they were kind and caring in my traumatic situation. I have heard from others that their prices are high; however, I did not feel that I was overcharged for any services, and they did not attempt to add on additional things that were not necessary. They made sure I didn't have any questions or concerns remaining before they even brought up the topic of payment. They could tell I was obviously distressed and offered me water and snacks. From the front desk staff, to the techs, to the veterinarian, I cannot say enough positive things about this location. After this event, I officially switched to them as my primary vet center. Thanks to their amazing services, my pup was on the mend quickly. There wasn't a single employee that gave anything other than incredible and compassionate service to us. UPDATE: To address a concern on a below review... I was given an itemized cost breakdown for each service rendered PRIOR to paying, and they asked if I had any questions. It is no surprise that the world/customer service has changed since 2020 for the worst. However there should never be an excuse to put greed into a situation where healthcare is necessary for humans or animals. We had set up an appointment with a few vets from Maryland to Pennsylvania that offered the flu shot for our dog. We did not want to give him this vaccine but it was required by his doggy daycare. We spoke to Eastern Animal Hospital a week ago after we found out all of our other locations did not have the dog flu vaccine due to a massive shortage in the U.S. It was confirmed that we could bring him in, he would get the vaccine at Eastern Animal Hospital, we pay what we owed and that would be it even given the fact that he was not a previous patient. On the day of we get a call from this location when we are roughly 5 minutes away stating that they would no longer honor his appointment and he would have to become an actual "patient in the books" but they didn't have room for him on this day. We were left with nothing to turn to and our dog daycare wasn't bending at all. At the end of the day, this was a massive money grab for the vet to build onto the bill after noticing they were one of the only locations that carry the flu vaccine for canines. SAD SAD WORLD and SHAME ON EASTERN ANIMAL HOSPITAL. Keep your pets away from this place ($$$$ over pet's health). I can only imagine the other horrible situations this place put people in. - Disgusted loving dog owner *Update - In regards to your response below I find it hard to believe that is what you decided to go with, given the fact that anyone in the general public would be able to see this. My wife and I recently experienced gross negligence and extreme insensitivity at Eastern Animal Hospital. The health of our sixteen year old dog (Sierra), to whom we were exceptionally attached, began to fail about two months ago. We took her to Eastern Animal Hospital in July for an examination (she had a trachea issue that was getting worse) and vaccinations. She was seen by an inexperienced doctor (recent veterinarian school graduate) that did such a cursory examination that she failed to detect a very large growth on Sierra's head. After subsequently being seen by veterinarians at other hospitals, it was determined that Sierra most likely had a brain tumor (which may or may not have been related to the growth on her head). On Labor Day, Sierra was having trouble breathing. We took her to Eastern Animal Hospital because it is located very close to where we live and it was a holiday. A technician took Sierra and walked through a door. Shortly thereafter, another technician asked us to sign a form indicating whether we wanted Sierra to be resuscitated. When we asked to speak to a veterinarian before making that decision and to tell them Sierra's history and current symptoms, the request was denied. When we then refused to sign the form, we were told we had to pay before we could speak with a veterinarian (we have spent thousands of dollars at Eastern Animal Hospital over an approximately 20 year period with zero payment issues). All of this time, Sierra (about whom we were extremely concerned), was somewhere we could see her. Our dominant desire was that she not suffer, and for an extended period we could not get anyone to tell us her condition or to let us be with her. We lost our tempers and a lot loud unpleasantness followed. Sierra was euthanized that day and what would have been an extremely upsetting occurrence under the very best of circumstances was made markedly worse by Eastern Animal Hospital. read more

The entire staff at Eastern was awesome. They were able to squeeze me in within a week's time for a new patient visit in anticipation for my cross country move which was much appreciated. My cat was evaluated by Dr. Wu this morning (Saturday) who was amazing and very kind. She took the time to listen to all of my concerns, answer all questions, and put forth a great treatment plan she made sure we felt comfortable with to get my cat to a more healthy weight. After reviewing invoice, I realized I was charged $667 for cough medicine for a 3lb puppy. The amount of this medication was never discussed at time of service and an itemized invoice was not given at time of check out. My fault for not getting breakdown upon check out but I had 2 dogs seen and x-rays performed that I thought justified the high price. I was not expecting to see a $667 charge for a bottle of cough medicine that can be purchased much cheaper elsewhere. I would have asked for a lower quantity or perhaps a different medication to try. I will continue to take my dogs there as the care is very good but will get written prescriptions and purchase my medications elsewhere from now on. read more

It's really sad that Eastern Animal Hospital has sunk so low. Our Bella has severe anxiety around strangers (a fact well known & documented with them as they have treated her since she was 11 weeks old). She was severely mistreated by her prior owners. She has been known to try and bite the vet - even with us present. The only way to control her is if I am in the room giving her the "mom" stare and voice. Sometimes if it's really bad, I have to hold her in my lap - she can't help it. Welp according to their COVID-19 protocols even if your pet suffers from anxiety and can be aggressive with strangers (oh and by the way if your pet bites a staff member from the vet, you are liable), you are not allowed to be with your pet - NO EXCEPTIONS. I mean if everyone is wearing PPE and gloves - what the hell is the problem? The county positivity rate has never been so low and they are acting like we are still at the onset of the pandemic... We have been loyal patrons since 2008 - they lost that patronage tonight. Very sad and disappointing EAH! read more

Fantastic experience for my new kitten and me. The facility was pleasantly surprising in how clean and modern it felt. There was a coffee bar with snacks for patrons to enjoy while waiting to be seen. The front desk staff were polite and quick to help me check in. The tech and vet were also very polite, handled my kitten well, and answered all of my questions. I highly recommend! read more

The staff is great and the care they give to the animals is amazing. There were just a few times when they've added things to my bill that were not necessary and one of those times it appeared to be a technical error and they refunded me the extra amount charged without a problem. Also, the other thing that didn't quite have me feeling good was the constant suggestion for certain testing by a specific veterinarian and these dire warnings of what could happen if the situation wasn't resolved resulting in paying for multiple tests, resulting in multiple trips to the clinic. Yet when I saw another veterinarian in the same location, I was comforted to know that most dogs experience what mine was having and that even if the issue was eliminated that there would be a likelihood of it happening again all that could really be done was to treat the condition with medication. That really eased my mind and lessended my concerns. The other thing is that when my pup needed a procedure done they didn't fully inform me exactly as to how the procedure would be done and in fact even kind of misinformed me as to how it would be done so when the procedure was completed initially I was not very happy. Then the area where the procedure was done got infected which made me feel worse. But again they adequately addressed the issue and showed a lot of concern and did everything they could to make sure my pup was ok. Now several days later, he seems to be coming along just fine and looks to be making a full recovery. Thanks Eastern Animal Hospital for the great work you do. read more

Upon arrival Saturday morning (it was pouring rain) I was struggling to get my 100 pound lab through the doors. No one came to help. They just screamed from the desk to ask my information. Every time I called or showed up it seemed to be an inconvenience for them no compassion. This is a 24/7 facility so I'm confused why they treated me this way. My dog was dying and not in good shape. Thank you for making this harder and colder than it had to be. I refused to let him go there so we brought him home to be comfortable. Do better have more compassion but I guess you can't instill that into people. Will be going elsewhere with my other family members. read more
