I traveled from lower Manhattan for these donuts and I'm mad at myself for not leaving earlier. We arrived at noon (they close at 2 pm) and there were 5 yeast donuts left in total! My friend got one and I got 3 plus a couple cake donuts. I'm really not a cake donut fan and in the city there are plenty of vegan cake donut options but I came here for the yeast ones specifically! I'm also mostly only a chocolate eater so the fact that they didn't have ANY chocolate yeast donuts I was bummed, but the apple jam filled donut was so freaking delicious! I'm not vegan but these donut though, wow! Their yeast donuts were amazing. Not greasy tasting light airy and soft. Their glazed are pack full of flavors and combinations are delicious. Fantastic place! My husband and I shared a s'mores donut and it was absolutely amazing. We got there about 11 am on a Saturday and they only had a few s'mores donuts left, so next time we go we will make sure to get there nice and early. Place is amazing. Cutest little decor inside. The donut paintings on the wall are hilarious. I am a big time donut fan. More than Homer J Simpson. He got his insatiable desire for donuts from me. I was also lucky enough to pick donuts that were freshly being put out. I got the matcha which was good but I wouldn't get it again( personal preference, just wanted to try it) the apple jam that was so damn good, the strawberry something or other one that looks like the Homer Simpson Donut which actually should've been named after me and the Arnold Palmer donut which was my favorite. Every time I visit my parents in NY I'm going to make sure I take the drive into Beacon for one of these amazing delights. Also the girl working the counter was exceptionally nice. read more

This pop up shop deserves a spot in every casino, ball park, food court in America. This is artwork and baking combined. This was worth the 2 hour drive to New York, the price is fair and the ingredients are natural. The marzipan was perfect, biting into that almond paste flavored cream and frosting was so good I didn't want to stop. Second, the lemon poppy (my favortie). Perfect for people who don't like "too seeet" it was like a lemon danish and flaky croissant hybrid. The pop tart was the guilty favorite... sugary... frosting... crumbles .. pure perfection. Strawberry , the basic b**** with a hidden twist! The cinnamon sugar... the "this is how donuts were in my day!" And let's not forget the classy... sophisticated hazelnut chocolate drizzled supermodel. God this place was wonderful. I really appreciate good food, baking, and people and this place kills it. Looooong wait - like 1 hour starting from 8:20 on Saturday. Not totally sure why it takes so long to get through like 20 customers - a little quicker service would be nice. The wait really sucks especially if you're just one person getting one donut. Donuts are good though of course with lots of cool options. It's about time they got a brick-and-mortar location! Peaceful Provisions makes the best donuts (and other sweet deliciousnesses) I've ever had in my life--not just vegan, but in general--and only The Cinnamon Snail (also vegan, in NYC) is in their league. Their stuffed donuts are especially out-of-this-world, like the NY Cream, whose thin chocolate icing somehow packed a lot of chocolate punch and whose yellow creamy interior was rich and sweet heaven on dough. The range of donuts the owners create, and their ability to make them all delicious--even the nontraditional flavors and toppings--blows my mind. The only downside is that you need to show up early--and it's wise to call ahead--if you want to be sure they don't run out by the time you get there. read more

I discovered Peaceful Provisions at an event at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. Word got around that they had rainbow cookie doughnuts, and I knew I'd have to get one. They had a pretty decent line, I was worried the doughnuts would sellout before I got a chance to get one, but luckily I made it. The doughnut, which was actually three doughnuts combined into the one all powerful doughnut to rule them all was $6. I felt this price was absolutely fair and reasonable considering this doughnut was more like a piece of cake than a doughnut, and huge. The raspberry jelly in between the layers was perfect, the cake part was perfect too (aside from the colors not being the usual red-yellow-green, I think the top was supposed to be pink but they didn't use enough coloring), the chocolate on the outside reminded me of the nice coating Entenmann's doughnuts have but better. This brought me back to my pre-vegan days where I'd just eat an entire box of rainbow cookies, or half a box of Entenmann's. I'm so thankful the amazing ladies that put these doughnuts together exist. The world is a better place because of them. Now that that's over, they were also selling tempeh rubens and jackfuit nachos that looked pretty good. I didn't get either, but I over heard people saying they were great and would love to try out their non-dessert foods in the future. Came in for some donuts after cutting down the Christmas tree. The store was hard to find because there is no clear sign of where it is actually located. The shop is located INSIDE of the Peekskill Brewery. The flavors of the donuts were quite different from any other I have ever seen before. In my search for vegan perfection, the results so far are Blackbird in Philly for best savory, and Peaceful Provisions in New York for by far the best desserts. They also win my vote for for best donuts (vegan or nonvegan). And that is beating out a place in Chicago who I thought couldn't be topped. I don't know how to actually describe biting into their little works of art. It is transcendent. You get that feeling they wanted you to be really happy, not just provide a vegan option for sweets. Hands down, the best broccoli cheddar soup I've ever had!! There were even these wonderful pretzel croutons with it. After that I was hooked. I stumbled on this shop at a Vegan pop up at Pine box rock shop. I'm not vegan or even vegetarian, but I do seek out exceptionally good food. They're food was not only delicious but it's gorgeous and creative. They were all really sweet and you could tell that they love what they do. There was a decent line, about 5 people, but I got everything really quickly and the food was nice and hot too. Now for the best part. They had all kinds of crazy looking donuts. Mochi, strawberries and cream, matcha lemon, maple sage, plus something like 3 other kinds that I can't even remember. I really wanted to try a donut but was starving so I opted for a savory option first. I had this super yummy looking plantain waffle with fried seitan sandwich with Aioli, kale, green tomatoes and bbq macaroni salad. It was moist and crunchy and the bbq macaroni was icing on the cake. I didn't have any room for donuts, but I really couldn't leave without trying them. I ended up getting the strawberries and cream, maple sage, and a couple of corn cookies.
