My boyfriend tried to order a mocha and the girl working there said they were almost out and if he could order something else. So he just ordered a regular coffee that was not very good. Then the girl behind him in line ordered an iced mocha and she made it for her. He didn't tell me this until after we got into the car. But if I had known I would not have ordered anything. My boyfriend is black and I just wondered if it was a racism thing. I could be wrong but it felt that way since everyone else was white. It happened while I was going to the bathroom at the creepy bus station office next door which you have to go to bc the coffee shop doesn't have one. I got a chocolate croissant which tasted fine but the woman who worked there made me wait a super long time while she and the guy in front of me talked about his dog. There are a lot of coffee shop options in New Paltz so you don't have to go here if you need coffee. I would stay away from this place. I was led astray by a review that said it was good. read more

We always look for a cute coffee shop and this one checks that box. The barista was helpful providing recommendations. The shop is small but we went pretty close to closing time and there wasn't a line. We got a hot caramel latte, an iced amaretto latte, and an iced brown sugar latte. Stopped by this spot on my way out of town. They had a variety of sweet and savory pastries in the pastry case as well as a variety of espresso drinks on menu. Some folks seem to have been able to get a breakfast sandwich or burrito here but I didn't notice anything like that (maybe I missed it?). I ordered one of their savory pastries. It was a savory filled (tomato and olive oil, I believe) flaky (croissant-like) pastry. It was ok, though I would have preferred it be heated a bit (they may be able to do this but I didn't think of it and it wasn't offered). For my coffee, I got a latte, which was great! The espresso was rich and the temperature was perfect. It was nice and warm throughout my drive to White Plains. It's definitely more of a grab and go situation with just a table or two inside. The barista was wonderful and welcoming. Get to it! read more

Considered trying this place for while since I heard good stuff and wanted see for myself. I really wanted a ham croissant sandwich since the pics on here look amazing, but sadly they ran out of ham. So a bagel with cream cheese was my second go to, the bagel was just right, toasted not burnt, and not too much cream cheese. The maple pecan croissant was very good, flaky crust, smooth soft filling and I do love the shine all there pastries I noticed they have. Also appreciated they have a basket of day old stuff for half off, so they don't waste. Will have try here again and get that ham croissant next time read more

Ridiculously good coffee shop right next to the bus station in New Paltz. Great location and super nice inside. Got a delicious Caramel Apple Butter Dirty Chai and a vegan Chocolate scone that was unbelievably good. All the desserts are clearly made by a very skilled baker, and especially happy to see vegan options too! The staff were really nice. This place would be a daily move if I lived nearby. read more

This place is a real gem...perfect location, walkable and convenient. Fast and fresh, I got a tray full of breakfast sandwiches for the whole office and everyone loved them! I got myself a cold brew and normally when I go to Dunkin or Starbucks I have to order it without ice to keep it pure. Pleasantly surprised to find out Village Grind has coffee ice cubes, such a good idea and in the coolest aluminum cups, frosty for hours! This is my favorite place to get coffee in New Paltz for a few years now. Service is always fantastic no matter who it is, always helpful and very sweet. Food/coffee/treats, always great quality. Definitely recommend anything here. I've tried it all at least once. I've really never had a bad experience here. Today solidified this sentiment for me. I had a horrifying day in the heat of COVID trying to find a place to hike and swim. I finally gave up and sequestered myself to getting laundry done at the place across the street (which is also A+ quality). I figured, "why not go and grab a dirty chai while I wait?" Great choice. Upon entering, I was greeted by humorous, charming and personable people. They seriously uplifted my mood with the rich and varied conversation, their helpful knowledge of what I should order and how I'd like it. As I wait for my laundry to tumble, I want to write this review to say a BIG thank you to Sergio, Kevin and Kate who absolutely made my day, and to promote a great place hidden in the Trailways station. The BEST coffee in New Paltz! Seriously. Growing up in New Paltz and now living here post grad, I had been on the hunt for the perfect cup of Joe. Nothing was quite hitting the spot until I went to the Village Grind. Under new ownership, the convenient and quick spot has only given me 10/10 service and cold brew! Their cinnamon cold brew is my favorite (with coffee iced cubes wow amazing). I tried the blueberry cold brew as well to spice up my daily dose of caffeine and it was definitely an interesting flavor. I ordered an iced chai with oat milk and it was the perfect balance of spice and richness. The employees are bubbly and funny, always talkative, unlike most snooty baristas. To be fair, I don't drink coffee and was just coming here for breakfast but I was pretty disappointed. The kitchen was temporarily closed so all the cooked breakfast items I was interested in trying were a no go. But the croissants looked decent. I got a spinach one and a chocolate one. The fillings were good but the croissant was sad. The dough was not well laminated at all. It was not flaky at all, no texture, it could've been a pillsbury crescent roll dough. Basically I'd give this place 1 star based on what I actually bought, but that seems unfair since I'm not a coffee drinker and the kitchen was closed. read more

All we needed was coffee but my boyfriend and I got so much more on this quick stop. I ordered a mocha latte. My boyfriend ordered a classic coffee. And then we gave into temptation and also got an apple fritter ALMOST THE SIZE OF HIS FACE and an 'everything' bagel (toasted with cream cheese, yum!). Both things were delicious and so not in our "diets" that we started that morning... But I guess there's always the next day! I don't regret anything- The coffee, latte, bagel, and fritter were delightful. And I have to mention that my latte had just the right amount of froth, nothing like that two inch foam found in Starbucks drinks. That's always my concern when ordering lattes... During our stay I overheard that the owner recently renovated the perfectly located cafe. We enjoyed the family friendly atmosphere and, even though we don't reside in New Paltz, we felt cozy atmosphere. The owner had his wife and little daughter helping and that brought a smile to my face. I'm not sure if I'll ever be in the area again but if I am then I'll definitely be returning to this cafe located not far off of I-87 NYS Thruway, Exit 18. read more
