Also on the weekends they do NOT allow laptops which is a huge bummer, but I understand they want to curate a different vibe. Random but the bathroom is actually decent and usually v clean (although quite dim), unlike bathrooms at other coffee shops that can get scary at times. I echo other reviewers and wouldn't recommend the matcha here, but have enjoyed my Americanos and chai. Cardamom bun and Everything croissant are S tier. I haven't tried any of the other food items, but I have seen a lot of people that seem to be enjoying hearty sandwiches and salads which are always a nice chance of pace compared to only baked goods that are usually offered at coffee shops.

Friendly greetings all around, but please turn up the AC. That pizza oven is hot. Nice, small and reasonably priced wine list. Started off with the Pizza Bianca, which while crisp and hot, could have used some seasoning, or cheese. Or both. Caesar salad and tomato salad were both first rate. Would honestly go back for the tomato salad. So fresh! Pastas and trout were all excellent, especially the Mezzaluna. Very nice portion sizes as well. The dessert menu was sparse and not especially enticing so we skipped dessert. They should do better. One other issue for me: when there are leftovers to be boxed up, I strongly believe that the server should do this as a matter of course. This server, like way too many others before, just handed over boxes for a "DIY" experience. If you expect a tip of 20% or more, this is what is expected of you. If you don't want a large tip, then please go ahead and hand me a box. All in all, we would definitely return but hope to see some important changes.

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. I've only ever been here in groups of two and I probably would recommend it for smaller groups because the space itself is small and most of the tables are two-seaters if I recall correctly.

It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

Now to the food......I ordered the crab fried rice for $24 and I received just rice with crab I could barely find. Waste of money. I also ordered the crispy garlic fried chicken. It was okay. Lightly fried chicken with soy sauce on the plate to dip I guess. I also tried the general Tao's shrimp. It was good but very spicy. I also ordered food to go for my husband. Again with the crab fried rice no crab. FYI when I ordered I told the waitress to make sure they add the crab so I don't just pay for rice. For a pint it was $17 just for rice. I packed up the chicken for him because I didn't love it and he wanted to try it. My daughter ordered the crab fried rice which had a very very very small piece of shredded crab. She liked the ribs and her general Tao's shrimp because she likes spicy. They charge for sauce but she did not tell me until I saw it on the bill. 20% gratuity and a fee for credit card use. And on the bill they have the nerve to put suggested additional tip. I don't think so. Overall this was a restaurant that I tried but would definitely not return.
