If your water heater is 10 years old, or older, I highly suggest you replace it. After a friend had his blow out 2 weeks ago and creating a river in his basement (an 11 year old unit), I checked the date on our water heater, and discovered it's original to our home (installed 05/2002) - YIKES! I immediately started looking for plumber reviews. I came across Alex of Peach Plumbing and liked what I read. I scheduled an 8 a.m. appointment for this morning to replace our contractor's grade 50G unit with a quality unit. Alex showed up at 7:59 a.m. ready to get to it. We made a path for him to get to/fro the water heater. The longest part of his installation was just the draining of our old tank. He installed a new Rheem water heater with all the required parts, new expansion tank, etc., NOT cutting any corners, dragged away the old water heater, cleaned his work area, bill in hand, paid, and out the door in 2-hours. VERY fast response. I had an older model "flushometer" type of commercial toilet valve in my condo that had worn out and would not stop flushing. I turned my water off, did a search on Yelp, called Alex and he finished up his current job and drove the 30 minutes to my location in Midtown ATL. He went straight to work and had the entire assembly replaced with a new one in 30 minutes. So, you really can't beat that kind of a service level. Sure, it was a pretty straightforward job, so nothing really magic about it and he did charge me a little more than another quote I got, but because of the speed and quality of his work, I was happy to pay it. I used Peach Plumbing, Inc to run a gas line to under my cooktop. Alex, the owner is honest, fair and prompt. Through email, we found a time that worked for both of us and he arrived on time and promptly provide a quote. This quote was 25% of the estimate (75% less) of a local larger Plumbing company and I went with it. He also told me where to expect holes in the basement ceiling for him to complete his work. His work was quick and he even found a more efficient method to install the gas line so he knocked down the price even more. I would recommend Alex without hesitation and will definitely call him again if I ever need a plumber. There is no incentive to write this review (coupons, gift card, etc). I used them a few months ago for a broken faucet pipe. The plumber ( Alex) was very nice and on time. He cane and diagnosed our problem. He did not charge us a few to come and look at the issue. Because he is a local guy with just him and his wife running the company(love supporting small businesses), and 2. I felt he was VERY reasonable with his pricing and honest. Saw my water heater drain valve was leaking. Saw all the good reviews about Alex so I sent in an RFQ online last Sunday. Alex answered very shortly afterward and said he could be over the next morning to check it out and to provide an estimate with no service charge. He said he'd come by between 8 and 9 am. When I get good service, I always want to make sure to let others know about it. It's tough to find people you can trust these days to not only do a good job but be professional and provide great continuing service. We started to notice that our toilets were running constantly. This was so irritating because they would wake us up throughout the night and our water bill went up. Then our shower started to leak so we replaced the shower head and shortly after it started again. We called Peach Plumbing and within minutes Alex was able to identify the problem. He replaced the Pressure Reducing Valve and the problem never returned. The worst part was when we had a leak in the yard. He was here immediately after we called them, and fixed the main water line. I am a first time home buyer and within the first year of owning the house I was notified by the water utility company that we may have a leak. The next water bill we received was for $350 and 32,000 gallons of water. I immediately freaked and Alex and Peach Plumbing called me back within 15 minutes of my voicemail at 9PM during the week. He was able to walk and guide me through the repair process and get the leaky main water line leak fixed, along with two leaky outside water spickets in a matter of a couple hours. I have very nice grass in my front yard and Alex was able to take care of how he was digging the up the grass to be sure to properly lay it back down properly. It didn't even look like he had dug up the ground, that's how good he cleaned up. I've attached pictures.
