Stayed at Waldorf so first night stayed in for dinner shared a burger and enjoyed privacy of our table. Amazing service surrounded by beautiful architecture.
I went here work colleagues after a conference before dinner to kill some time. We decided to grab a few drinks. The drinks are pricey as expected ($30+) but my drink tasted really good and was strong without tasting like alcohol. I got the forever pear drink. I'll go back sometime when I'm in the area for work. The ambience is very pleasant and the lobby is usually busy with people.
Come here for a late dinner while staying on property. The place is huge and i know they do afternoon and evening champagne dinners. It's very beautiful mix of bar with TV and then seating with chandeliers and flowers. Sat at the bar so i could watch FIFA. I sat there 10 mins before someone came to drop off menu. Mind you the place was fairly empty. Maybe they didn't think i was going to dine there, i am not sure. Anyways, finally got the menu but then took another 5 mins for them to come back and take the order. But the couple next to us who came much later were served quickly. Anyways, finally ordered and the food was just ok compared to the price. Got the rigatoni alla Norma and chicken meatballs. I would say the meatballs were actually good but it was more of an appetizer. The pasta was very olive forward. We had to get break to soak up the sauce. Overall the food was just fine. I will say the bartender that took care of us, he was very nice despite the early weird start. He took care of us and checked on us frequently once the food arrived.
My friend and I came here on a whim since we were all dressed up and nearby at a garden soirée. We sat at the bar for a few hours and reveled in the beautiful, sexy ambiance. You have to experience the scale of this lobby--it'll absolutely 'wow' you. Harrison at the front desk informed us there's a signature scent pumped though the vents to evoke a 'sense of place.' We ordered the Wagyu beef sliders, parmesan truffle fries, and the Sancerre. While everything is a bit overpriced, the whole experience is a fun splurge. The sliders are very mini but the fries are a delicious standout (ask for the dipping sauces, they're delightful). Our two bartenders were Serbians named Marko who supplied us with great service and stimulating conversation. We sat next to a delightful dinner companion, which helped make the night even more social.
Our experience at Peacock Alley was amazing mainly because of Chenee. It was a return visit. I was celebrating my birthday & wanted to have the Post Old Fashioned I had here previously. Chenee surprised me with an amazing birthday dessert. She is the best bartender in D.C. very personable. We hope to return to Peacock Alley again.
We stopped by here for some tea after having one brunch near by. You must make a reservation for high tea experience. Since we didn't have one, we just settled with some tea and dessert. Their service was great and live up to the name. Dessert and tea were great. Decoration is amazing and elegant. Pretty neat place to relax with some tea or drinks. Definitely will come back for high tea experience.
Peacock alley is such a gem in DC. It easily a spot you can dress up for or go in as you are. The drinks are great and the service is top tier. If you don't have a reservation, the bar is a great spot to sit for a beat. I will warn, during busy periods a reservation is recommended. I went with a friend to an afternoon tea service. She is vegetarian, and as their regular tea service menu includes meat, and they were able to accommodate and modify with vegetarian substitutes. There was one chicken substitute croissant sandwich that I wanted a second of! The experience of a tea can be hit or miss depending on the food, but I was very pleased with the options. Overall I really enjoy peacock alley and do recommend. I prefer in a more casual, cocktail setting, but the tea was fun. There are so many options here that there's no way to be disappointed. Pro tip- go to the clock tower and the pop down for a drink!
The tea selection is vast and very tasty. When you're seated they ask if you'd like champagne or sparkling cider. We thought this was included in the experience. Came to find out each glass of champagne was $20 and the cider was $8. We were disappointed this wasn't mentioned since we would have declined considering the tea service itself is $90 a person. Fun experience but not sure it's worth it.
My wife and I came here prior to the nearby restaurant opening in order to kill time and have a drink. We each had a non-alcoholic drink given our diets, along with some hummus. Likely overpriced but it was delicious and a great atmosphere to spend some quality time together. They had an afternoon tea going on so no tables were available and we were able to get the last two seats at the bar. We always enjoy coming here given the interior decorations for the cherry blossom festival that we missed at their peak outside but got a picture near the tree here.
Not worth it on multiple levels. Tea snack options were scarce and mediocre. For ~$150 PP, you don't get very much. I've done high tea at other locations for a cheaper price AND more/ better quality food. I also found a short light brown hair (I have long black hair) that was baked into one of my scones. At the moment I alerted the say, I could tell they were surprised so they didn't know how to react so they said a quick sorry and just brushed it off. Later someone came out while I was in the restroom and gave my friend a very half hearted apology - I personally did not get one. They didn't really do anything for us to show they were taking the situation that seriously... hopefully this isn't something that happens but I can't be sure... The service overall was disappointing for such a well known hotel. Starting with the hostesses, they didn't seem very welcoming or helpful. We came early and let them know, they just stood there and acknowledged that we were early, they didn't suggest if we could wait at the bar - I had to ask. I don't normally expect that sort of thing but at a place like this, I did expect the staff to be a little more helpful than they were. At the end we went to the restroom and it was a bit busy so we were in there for a little while. We came back and a waiter ran out to us and gave us the bill while we were standing. It was my mistake for not asking about the bill earlier because I thought I paid for the high tea experience online. We planned on going back to our seats but they took everything away already.... We also had a long period of time where no one came out to give us a bill or ask how we were so we were left on our own to figure out what to do. Overall even though the location was beautiful, I think the experience was a very poor representation of the hotel. I would not recommend anyone doing high tea here, there are far better options elsewhere. One thing I do want to point out is that the car attendants were very kind.
We came to Peacock Ally because we stayed at the hotel. The ambience is gorgeous and apparently it's more like a bar/open area. The seatings are most sofas and the cozy chairs. We order the Mediterranean platter, honey prosciutto pizza, & grilled octopus for appetizers. My favorite dish was the octopus. The charred aroma of the octopus and the pumpkin risotto underneath made this dish perfect. This is meant to be the "to share" dish but I just want to have it all to myself. The appetizers were all great. I did have high expectations of this place because of the location and the decorations. The only disappointment was my main course. I ordered the medium rare beef tenderloin but it came to be more cooked than medium well. I hardly saw any pink inside. This place is worth coming back. I'll come here next time when I stay at the hotel again.
I've been here so many times. Atmosphere is a solid 5! Service not consistent. Have sat at the bar, stood at the bar, and had cocktails at a table. You ask for a drink at the bar and they wait on someone else. You sit at a table, turn your head, and they take the drink although it still has another sip or two. Despite that I will always recommend this place for evening cocktails. Perfect stop after an event. This time I went for lunch during the day during the week. I was really craving the smashburger at Bazaar but it was closed for lunch (and recently learned it is closing for good). I sat at a table Peacock ally and the service was perfect. He said I would not be disappointed in the smashburger. I was not disappointed. It was very good. Cooked like I like it. I got the salad instead of fries. Had water although the espresso martini the woman at the next table was having looked good! Price point what you would expect in a historic building in downtown DC housing a luxury hotel.
I've had tea service here two times, one time for the cherry blossom tea, and one time for regular tea. Every time I am truly mesmerized and transfixed by the venue itself the flowers, the harvest, the bar the environment is stunning, and that is for certain. However, unfortunately, neither of the tea, nor the food that accompanies the tea to me has ever been worth the price point. I decided to try a new tea and I tried the ginger Yuzu tea. The ginger is very overpowering and once it sits in the pot for too long, it becomes even more overpowering. The servers were pretty busy this weekend with the first official weekend of Cherry Blossom tea, so they never came around to refill our hot water. My friends did enjoy their green tea. I would say stick to the classics when it comes to the tea even the lavender black tea is very weak in it's lavender flavor. The servers make it a point to mention that everything is prepared every morning yet the finger sandwich sandwiches are usually an edible in my opinion. If there was any respite to that it would be the scones. The scones are usually very delicious in the scones I had in my tower. Lychee rose ones were truly impeccable. I'm happy I had some of those because I did end up unfortunately being unable to eat the blue crab finger sandwich due to the fishiness. Usually when crab smells like that it isn't fresh. We were there to celebrate a birthday (and of course mentioned it in the booking) and Peacock alley did not do anything to celebrate my friend out of the ordinary. In summary, I always leave here happy to have sat in the lobby and caught up with my friends, but never happy with the price point or really with the empty tummy. I leave with after. I truly do not suggest this place for high tea. It's hard to say because it's obviously classic and iconic for so many reasons I would say just plan to come here for a drink. There are many high tea places in DC that are truly scrumptious and worth the price point. The 20% included gratuity on top of an already expensive experience is just way too much.
The vibes are immaculate out here. You don't need to stay at the Waldorf to eat here. They have a coat check and that would also include baby strollers. While the drinks are a little on the expensive side, the cheese burgers are fairly priced. I will say that I had their "Proof through the Night" drink (which I believe is their take on a Manhattan) and it was excellent: a little boozy, a little spicy (in the cinnamon area of the spice world) and a touch sweet. I also had their version of the old fashioned and that was refreshing too. The condiments come out in these little jars and the smallest tobasco bottles ever! I had to take one home. The burger was excellent, cooked perfectly and these fries were amazing. They even had a harpist playing all the holiday tunes (Independence Day) as well as some cartoon classics (Peanuts, Moana, Beauty and the Beast, etc.) The service was also very good in that the servers were very attentive, the manager greeted us and when they said it would be an hour wait before we were seated, that was conservative because we were seated within 35-40 mins. I would highly recommend Peacock Alley, but please be mindful that this appears to be high end so spend accordingly to maximize on that great time. read more
This is a bar, restaurant and cafe inside the Waldorf Astoria. It takes up almost the entire first floor, huge capacity. There is a large bar with a tv on top. There is a food menu. Or just order a drink, coffee or tea. Nice and relaxing. High ceilings with skylights. I was done with my museum tours and wanted a place to relax until heading out to dinner. Came here and got a tea. Good service. read more

Everything I had was a 10 out of 10. We were at the bar via Peacock Alley via The Waldorf Astoria DC. I was a bit bummed out that they did not have any pumpkin spice inspired drinks for the Fall season. The bartender instead gave me a fall themed pomegranate margarita that tasted sooooooo amazing. I ordered the Charred Octopus (pumpkin risotto) & it was probably one the best octopus dishes I've ever had. My friend ordered the curry soup and crab cake, both big portions and he really loved it all. His drink was the Blossom & he thoroughly enjoyed it too. Whenever I have time, I would definitely come back here. The ambiance is so Fall festive and the staff was very friendly and delightful. I highly recommend and would love to come back for their highly sought after afternoon tea whenever I have more free time. read more
Went here recently for my birthday dinner. It was the perfect spot to celebrate! The food was delicious, the birthday surprise was so exciting as well. Beautiful place to relax and enjoy a good meal. Service was quick, friendly, and very accommodating. read more

The Waldorf is a solid place for drinks. Is it worth the price? Possibly, as the drinks are quite stiff and will surprise you with the depth of it all. Is it worth the ambiance? Definitely -- all seasons will allure you with specialized decorations that give you a perfect balance with over-the-top luxury. I haven't tried the bites at the bar but the olives are nicely briny and plump -- a great pre-dinner destination to start an evening of celebration. read more
We stopped by to grab dinner - due to sheer convenience as this was right in the lobby - and our experience definitely exceeded expectations. Do not skip out on the burger or lamb tangine. Both were superb. The burger was tender, flavorful, and juicy, accompanied with crispy fries. The lamb tagline was sublime - juicy, fork tender, and flavorful without a hint of gaminess - and served alongside a fluffy portion of couscous. We also got a side of kale risotto which was nicely creamy. The only meh item was the mushroom and kale truffle pizza but even that was ok. Service was fantastic and the searing ever spacious. Our baby had room at the table, which made for a stress free meal. Worth a stop especially if you are staying at the hotel! read more
Such a fun spot for afternoon tea. The ambiance here is EVERYTHING! Two things to know is that they only have two tea times which is 11am and 2 pm. I didn't know this and we arrived early hoping to be seated and had to wait until 2 pm. Also, they have a live harpist that plays at each tea time. In addition to this, every couple months they have a new theme. We joined them for the Winter Afternoon tea, but in a few weeks they'll have a cherry blossom theme happening. The price for the tea is $120 and it comes with one tea pot, 3 savory options and tons of sweets. I ordered the Nutcracker which I thoroughly enjoyed. The chocolate peppermint hot coco was alright and the dragon well wasn't strong and was a super light green tea. $40 valet parking is available They're located inside of the hotel. I highly recommend booking a reservation because they have limited seats. I don't think it's a walk in spot. Service was great and accommodating, I'll be coming back. Peacock Alley, a signature in Waldorf Astoria hotels worldwide, is set in a soaring atrium. Especially striking is the large cherry blossom/floral tree for Cherry Blossom season. We sat in comfy seating, and the server quickly moved another table over when we told them some friends would be joining us after all. Our small plates and shared apps were delicious, the red velvet dessert very rich and decadent, the service impeccable, and of course the scene, like a movie set. We're ready for our closeup. read more

Peacock Alley is the lobby bar and restaurant in the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Washington DC. Like the rest of the hotel, it exudes opulence, quality service, and sophistication. We stayed at the hotel overnight and upon our arrival we had a drink in Peacock Alley. The service was immaculate, our server was polite, in the atmosphere was wonderful. The next morning we had breakfast here. All I can say is wow. My wife had salmon and the portion was so large it took the two of us to finish it. I had what's called the postmaster's breakfast. It consists of three eggs, toast, potatoes, and a meat. Our server, Khan, was superb. His politeness and the way he carried himself elevated the experience to something that cannot be purchased only provided by the right kind of person. We sat at a two-person table and they are a little on the small side. However a young lady named Heidi, without us asking, saw our dilemma and graciously brought over a second table for us to use. This type of above and beyond service is what you get here at Peacock Alley and the Waldorf. The general manager, Tyann, greeted us on both of our visits and stopped by several times to make sure everything was perfect. After meeting and speaking with her it's understandable why Peacock Alley runs so well. Apparently a lot of people come to the hotel just for this restaurant and I can see why. If you're ever in the area and not staying at the Waldorf, I recommend coming to Peacock Alley for a drink or a meal. And tell them I said hi! read more

In terms of decor and ambiance Peacock Alley is an incredible venue. It's just a beautiful space- airy, and huge, yet your table feels intimate so you don't feel overpowered by a gymnasium-like space. Sound does not travel and you cannot overhear conversation. This makes it a great place to come for a business or intimate meal and talk. The service was good enough in the dining area though not top tier given the prices and the fact that it is in the Waldorf Hotel. As we entered, the doorman held a heavy door and just as we were saying "thank you" he let it go and it hit us really hard. It appeared that he saw someone else enter that he felt the need to attend to more urgently, but this was negligent behavior and a disappointing way to start our experience at Peacock Alley. The food was probably the weakest link. We ordered the beluga caviar, two kinds of pizzas and a cheeseburger. The caviar presentation made it very awkward to eat. It had to be constantly turned to access the caviar garniture and you could not spoon it without spilling. We ordered the mushroom and also the hot honey pizza. The hot honey pizza was not bad but the mushroom pizza was quite flavorless. The cheeseburger was just a cheeseburger. The fries that came with it were good. They gave us a row of small containers of condiments which was a nice touch. We were thinking of getting champagne with the caviar but it was $50 per glass! The prices are high and the taste and quality of the food does not equate to the high prices at all. I would rate the food a 2 or 3. Service is a 3. The ambiance and sheer beauty of the venue make it a strong 5. It's a great place to bring an out of town guest and take pictures. I would come here again to experience the space and have a long conversation with an aquaintance, and I would order the less expensive items as I would not be coming for the food. read more

I never want to leave!! This is the former post office building and as soon as you step in you are entranced by the gorgeous chandeliers, epic ceilings and live music. Plenty of seating but always good to reserve a seat as it can get busy. Drinks are exceptional. The Presidential Suite Sip is my new fav. Both the salmon and burger were cooked to perfection. Come here for the ambiance, food and superb service, not for the value. Nestled in the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria, the atrium has an old world architecture found in the old world, but updated with modern chic design. The food was all perfectly prepared with the most gourmet of ingredients. Perfectly balanced. For a respite from weather or walking, it's worth a stop to just grab a tea or coffee. The Waldorf Astoria hotel should be ashamed of itself. For what they charge for rooms and food and drinks not a place to sit in their lobby without going thru nasty hostesses is a problem. If it happen once ok, but two nights in a row. A large open area, and you're not allowed to sit anywhere. There pare couch and coffee table set up and an obvious dining seating and clubs chairs thru the area a beautiful bar that sits about 22 people. The bar has typically (in my 2 days here) 3 bartenders and bar back staff. Plenty of help. But let's go back to the lobby area, so every seat in the place has a reserved sign and se hostess for seating. We stroll in from dinner tonight and are thinking about a nightcap and the bar is full and it does not appear anyone was looking to leave. So the lobby seating is 20% full at most. So I approach the hostess stand and I'm relieved because the caustic hostess from the previous night did not come over and what appeared to be a "manager type" woman comes over and we ask politely for seating. We tell her we're not getting food just cocktails and coffee. Well, she can't possibly seat us for 20 min.. kind of puzzled I say I can get drinks at the bar and bring them to any of the seats. She responds are you a guest, I said yes, so yes it will be a min of 20 min. But you're free to go to the bar, that's open seating. I said the bar is full and we're not standing to have a cup of coffee. Well then I was free to bring it to my room or wait. The room has one desk chair? Anyway, my wife is rightfully hot under the collar and basically says you can get a drink to bring upstairs but Im not giving this place my business. After walking over to the bar, the same hostess sits a man and two children at a table adjacent the bar, he had literally just walked in, with no reservation. Now my wife is irate, as I am. They were placing drink orders before I could even get one placed standing at the bar. This is the second evening of rude and ignorant hostesses. The only reason I give this place 2 stars is for the ambiance and the afternoon bartenders we encountered the day before when although crowded there were seats available. The place is beautifully adorned and decorated. Too bad they treat a hotel lobby like a museum where you cannot sit on any furniture. The rest of the hotel staff has been 5 stars as it should be. For the costs of the food and drinks at the Peacock Alley it should come with a back massage.. read more

We were staying at Waldorf Astoria in Washington, DC and decided to have breakfast the next day at Peacock Alley which is the restaurant located at the lobby. The very tall ceiling with exposed iron beams and huge chandeliers everywhere makes this restaurant remarkable and beautiful! There's also a humongous Christmas tree in the center of the lobby since it's holiday season. We were seated immediately by the friendly hostess. Shortly after, we're given water while our waiter makes his way toward us. Can't stress enough how great the service is!! My husband's coffee cup never ran out of coffee and my water glass was replenished several times. Now for the grand finale, the food! I had the CHESAPEAKE SMOKEHOUSE SALMON Which had Whipped Herb Cream Cheese , Marinated Heirloom Tomatoes, Free-Range Hard-Boiled Egg, cucumber, Pickled Onions, Capers, Pea Tendrils and Bethesda Everything Bagel. The presentation's beautiful and tasted as great as it looks! The portion's also a good size. I couldn't finished it and my husband eagerly did so as well as his "Postman's Breakfast". Get the pastries and teas. Don't get the main courses. Not worth the price actually someone could not pay me that price to eat that again actually they could pay me that price because it was so damn expensive! I did not even finish my dish because it was worse than my microwave carrots I make at home. Like seriously read more
