First -- this is inside the Georgetown Inn on Wisconsin, but don't let "hotel restaurant" fool you. I met up with a friend for brunch before an event we had at nearby Montrose Park. This is one more popular spots during the weekends; and not really because the food and service are all that great...but really because of it's location. I would highly recommend making reservations during weekend brunch, which is easy enough via Resy. We arrived 10 min before 12pm noon, and 1310 was bustling. Every table was filled and the place was filled with the sounds of silverware clanging on plates and people engaged in converation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]And regarding the noise level, it gets LOUD at 1310. Huevos rancheros and a vegggie omelette were delievered to the table after an acceptable 15 minutes had passed. Honestly, these dishes were very MID. Having lived in Texas for several years, 1310's version of the racheros was sad. Everything tasted like it came straight off a Sysco truck. The tortillas were somewhat stale and got soggy quickly from the beans and eggs. And the refried beans were definitely canned. At least the eggs and avocados were fresh. My friend's omelette was better, since it was prepared fresh. The eggs were fluffy and the veggies softened and seasoned well. Potato wedges were fried to a nice crispness and tasted good when dipped into ketchup. Service was acceptable. Having been a server in a past life, ours was giving off "I don't really wanna be here" vibe. But no shade from me, since I've had plenty of those days. Coffee was nice and strong and the cup was always kept filled for the requisite morning caffeine hit. Many of the reviews note that 1310 is on the expensive side...and I concur. Brunch for two, with coffee + one mimosa, and two entrees with tax and tip was just a bit under $80. Kind of pricey in my opinion. But if you choose to dine in the area, expect to pay the "Georgetown tax." Waitress also not too familiar with the brunch menu when asked for recommendations. We also were seated at 2pm and informed that the kitchen closes at 2:30pm so we were rushed along. Martin's Tavern's loss is 1310 Kitchen & Bar's gain! We had a free day because it was around the holidays and wanted, craved and desired a burger from Martin's Tavern. We make sure that we go there every few years to enjoy one of the best burgers in DC. However, on this day, Martin's was packed, more or less. There were some tables that were open but the host said that they were NOT taking any more diners unless we already had reservations. Reservations??? At a tavern??? WTF! So, out we go, up Wisconsin Avenue. It's cold so we selected the 1st restaurant that we found - 1310 Kitchen & Bar! We were sure as hell lucky that Martin's was crowded. This 1310 burger WAS THE BEST BURGER WE HAVE EVER HAD IN DC! Bar none! It was better than Martin's. We actually got ours differently dressed. My spouse had a spared down version with only lettuce, tomato, blue cheese and mayonnaise while I got the burger as Chef Crovato created it - with arugula, pickled onions, American cheese, bacon tomato jam, maple aioli and whole lot of LOVE!!!! The final stop on our adventures was a mediocre establishment in Georgetown. My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I both wanted to see this section of the DC metro area and I personally had been advocating aggressively for a quick peek at the Exorcist Steps (which I got to see but even I can't quite figure out how to write a lengthy review for stairs). This restaurant was about a 10-minute walk from there, which honestly felt longer because it was the Tuesday morning after the Inauguration and still hanging out in the single digits. But we carried on, as we do. The building 1310 was in was pretty cool - it's in the same location as the Georgetown Inn, which I imagine a lot of bougie college parents end up staying at when they visit their kids nearby. You can access the restaurant directly from the street, but to use the facilities requires a quick trip through the Inn's lobby, which as bathroom walks go was pleasant. We visited in the late morning/early afternoon, which was prime brunch time. Maybe because it was a Tuesday and officially no longer part of even a long holiday weekend, it was pretty empty during our visit. I'm willing to bet that this just isn't the time to go (weekday brunch), because 1310 has a really good reputation but I just didn't see it during our visit. I don't think the cream of the crop was on the clock and unfortunately it showed, particularly from the service side. Beyond the fact that it was very slow and we had to aggressively locate/hail down our waiter multiple times - and weren't even in a rush - the biggest issue for me occurred when we were ordering. My chum doesn't eat pork and asked if one of the items on the brunch menu (I think it was an omelet) had that ingredient in it. The waiter said no, but you could tell from his demeanor that he wasn't sure, so she asked again. This time he stuttered nervously and said he would check in the kitchen. That's a huge miss in my book - the pork was a dietary preference but I don't even think that matters. There are plenty of reasons why people don't eat certain items and if you can't trust the waitstaff to know the menu and more importantly convey it to you? Huge problem. What if it had been an allergy? Also, a pretty wild aside - I saw a nearby customer walking around the bar area looking for assistance, only to be stopped by the person she'd just been talking to, who had to clarify SHE was the person to ask. The customer assumed they'd been communicating with a fellow patron, not a staff member. I'm not sure I've ever seen that before. I ended up getting the avocado toast with a side of bacon, which was fine. The bacon was on the dry side and in hindsight I would have just gotten the toast and foraged for something savory on our walk afterwards. (And in 1310's defense, the last bacon I had was literally hanging off a clothesline that I had to cut down with scissors - everything after that was going to be a letdown.) The taste of the toast was good and unique; the inclusion of the pomegranate seeds was definitely an interesting touch. I think the texture was a little too crunchy but that's just my personal palate coming out to play. This wasn't a bad experience but it wasn't memorable and there unfortunately weren't many positives to it. It's unlikely I'd come back if I were in the area; there are so many other options to sample. But regardless, I would avoid coming back for sure during this time of the week. read more

I wished I could get a dozen to take home. The chef does sell meals to take and freeze. Though not breakfast items. Next time we will try dinner. It had some baileys in it but since it was a nice pour, the baileys didn't cut through too much so it wasn't as sweet as I've had in the past. But certainly a solid 9/10! Will helped me pick between the grilled calamari vs the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. The winner was the latter! The sandwich was delicious! I wasn't expecting this..... Food at this place is really great. I can't say much though because I only have tried apps but they were very fresh. The grilled calamari and burrata is a must try. Service at this place was top notch. We had multiple people attending our table but not in an overwhelming way. Much much appreciated. Large restaurant attached to the lobby of the Georgetown Inn. Nice decor with pictures of female recording artists decorating the walls. Large but noisy space. Service was excellent and very understanding of the needs of small kids. The food (and cocktails) were excellent. Highly recommend the parmesan risotto balls. Came here on Memorial Day for a brunch to wish our dear friend a fond farewell as he is moving to the twin cities. When we got there it took over 15 minutes to get seated. Not because it was busy but because no one was attending the hostess stand. Finally got seated and again had to wait for ever just to get water served. Finally we got someone to take our order a full 30-40 minutes after arriving. Fortunately we were in good company and enjoyed our conversation. Once the food came out it was very good. Our friend had the huevos ranchero, my wife had the eggs Benedict and I had a hamburger (with a gluten free bun of course). Everyone enjoyed their dish.
