I had no idea what to expect but she was a referral from someone I trust and that was enough for me. The shop is located in a small strip mall in downtown Bartlett. Its clean and always busy! Gianna has been the only one I have had cut my hair at this salon, but I see the work of the other stylists when I'm there, and they all do great work. You will see a lot of people hug and kiss the owner when they come and go. Obviously people have been coming here forever! Their pricing is totally reasonable and that's coming from someone who doesn't care to spend a lot of money on hair cuts. I don't color my hair so I don't know what they charge for that, but I see a lot of people getting their color done while I'm there for my cut and dry. I'm very committed when it comes to certain things. There is one person at my nail place that I allow to do my nails. I went to my old girl for haircuts for almost 9 years before she stopped cutting hair and followed her from one salon to another. I go to one mechanic and one mechanic only. I order pizza religiously from the same place. I buy my jeans from the same store ALWAYS, without exception. And finally, when I find someone that cuts my hair exactly the way I want and respects me and my need for perfection, I stick with them. Gianna does this every time! Anyways, I went there for my usual eyebrows but for the first time I thought of trying hair color and cut at Amor also; Luckily I had time and so did they, and while we were choosing color, in my mind, I was still debating if I should do it or not but I mustered-up and decided to take a chance! You see, in the past, I almost always have to redo my hair-color because it never turns out the color I want the first time; anyways, long story short, when Asan (I believe the lady's name) was done blow drying my hair and so looked at it in the light and to my amazement, it actually turned out EXACTLY what I had asked for! The move was stressful and it was time for a de-stressing, pleasant change. Self Care is important! At the end of the hair treatment, my friend was more stressed leaving than going in. I included stock images of what a proper balayage should look like, and the second photo is the treatment my friend walked out with. As an honest friend, I had to tell my girl that she had gotten 2000's highlights that were cut off before the roots. The benefit of the doubt is that this is the first balayage this stylist has ever attempted. The groupon didn't include a cut, just the balayage, which, okay - that's reasonable. But the stylist did charge more just because my friends hair was slightly thick and wavy, and not a 1 or 2a curl pattern??? The stylist then tried to detangle and straighten (flatten) my friend's hair which isn't the most flattering style for balayage. The stylist also tried to use a de-tangling solution rather than a cream, oil, or leave in conditioner. My friend, bless her soul, still tipped her stylist for the effort. But please, please do research before attempting another balayage.
