This was a personal decision that I would suggest against. The place got past many of my red flags, all except one. I had visited BJ's wholesale club and was shopping. A nice man came and asked about my roof. A great salesman. I agreed to have his company come to my house and look at my roof, for a quote, after he told me many wonderful things that shot down a lot of the standard red flags. 1. They don't use contractors. His words. You should ask. For me this is a good thing. 2. They have been in business for years. Another positive. 3. They use a lot of products I have heard of, including the windows manufacturer they support. 4. They are not the guys coming to my front door after a storm saying, "we are working on a neighbors house and saw your roof... (storm chasers) 5. I looked em up. I was impressed. Now I had already gotten quotes from 4 other companies. But I was hoping that my membership could be a factor, so Here is where it went awry. We set the appointment and there were several email reminders. Then I get a call the day before my scheduled appointment asking to verify that my spouse will be present for the appointment. At no time had anyone asked this prior. Not the person at the wholesale club, not the person I spoke with on the phone working with the wholesale salesman, not the first person who called me the days before to confirm my appointment. It took until the day before for someone asked. I did not know I would have had to schedule that. So they asked to reschedule the appointment. Now I asked why there would need to be the two of us when I am asking a quote. The only response I got was, "it is for our BBB A+ rating" which they have. But the only times I have had to do this from the first 4 quotes was twice and both were because they were storm chasers trying to get the owners to sign a paper giving them the right to work on my behalf with my insurance company. Now let me say the rating above as 3 is because I don't want to harm the "Peak" status, I merely want to share that this is not a place you call to get a quote. They won't schedule you unless all owners are there. If you are shopping around, let me tell you if you want to get quotes find the companies that will come and look without all parties there. Those are the companies that will send an offer and give you time to let it settle in. Don't let anyone tell you because they want to quote the right roof shingle that they need all parties on site. It is because they want you to sign them that same day. I told the original person I needed a quote and in the end had my time wasted by this company. I would give this company zero stars if I could. I came across Peak at the Home & Garden Show this past weekend in Frederick. Spoke to a nice younger kid who scheduled an onsite visit for today, 3/24 @ 10a for window replacements and front door replacement for our entire house. At 8:35a, a woman named Lisa left me a vm to please call back asap. I called her back, she confirmed address, appointment time, and what we were looking to get an estimate on. She then asked, "I need to confirm that both you and your husband will be there?" I replied, "no, he works full time out of the house and I work full time from home." She said, "oh, we will have to reschedule as our policy would require your husband to be there as well." UM, WHAT? I asked why is that? She told me because "we discuss design, schedules, and cost." Ok AND? SO? I told her my husband and I have discussed what we are looking for, and any financial proposal we'd be discussing later on before a decision was made to move forward. She just kept saying that was their policy and that if it was reversed, they would require I be there too. Mind you, I gave the young kid my phone number at the show when I scheduled this appointment, yet they followed up by somehow calling my husband's cell phone after I left the show. Peak may have 5 star reviews, but this was super insulting and ridiculous and they have lost our potential business. As a woman, can I not handle meeting with them by myself without my husband present? Really? It is no business of Peak to decide how we function within our house, or how we make design or financial decisions. As long as a homeowner is present, it should not matter. We had a Peak sales person come to our house for multiple door estimates from the provia catalog for our older home. The initial estimate called a "Door System Work Scope" was very poor for a document and in no way broke down each door or had all the details. I was promised a full estimate with specifics like door types, hardware, color, etc etc etc. We never received such, even after requesting such from the quality manager and a further call into the office. Simply, no one returned our call or was any email received. I have no idea if Peak is a good company to go with, but any tactic where the work scope is not clearly defined and where they offer a discount if you purchase the same day of 25%, is one I would not entertain. Went to the state fair Sept. 8th 2024 and one of their reps Dennis was wanting to give me an estimate, I am looking to replace my front door. The rep. Dennis took my information and also asked for my wife's name and number as well. They repeatedly tried to give 3 hour time blocks for an appt. but I refused and asked for 11am. He called it in to confirm to an agent on the phone and I reminded them it was 11am. Lisa called the day of the 11 am. appt. and said they would be there at 10am and i reminded her it was 11am. They also wanted my wife there and I said that due to our schedules we both cant be there. I am the decision maker as well as the person paying for the project. They said they cant schedule their estimate unless both of us are there. I told her you are wasting my time, have a nice day! My wife and I have already discussed what type of door to upgrade to and we were both in agreement as to what we need. I am not sure what type of practice this is but its a huge turn off for a customer. I have had a new roof put on my house, I signed the contract and I paid for it. I have had prior work done to my house like a steel entry door and windows replaced by different companies and signed the contracts and I paid for them myself. I dont need my wife to hold my hand and help negotiate with Peaks High Pressure Custom Remodeling. It doesn't seem like I am the first or the last person to go through this based on other reviewers. Hey sales rep visited our house to give us a quote for two new picture windows after over an hour of negotiation he finally came down to a number which we could agree to. Six weeks later we get a call that the vendor that was supplying the windows was unable to accommodate our dimensions. Shouldn't a sales person know what the max dimensions are for a vendor before they give a quote? The sales person then tried to replace it with a sub par vendor product and thus we canceled the contract. I would not recommend doing business with them, as they obviously do not know the products that they're selling and to get any information takes a significant amount of time. read more

These people were so rude. When I called for free quote they were telling me the way it was going to be and giving me an outrageous price. Absolutely ridiculous. They said that my family HAD to be there and gave me a bunch of lip about it marked with a real bad attitude. I recommend Peak Custom Remodeling. My old front door was very old and needed to be replaced. I have an old Baltimore townhouse style home. I found them online searching for General Contractors/Door Installers for my door project. They ordered and installed my new front door. I ordered a custom painted, fiberglass door with a wood-grain look through Peak Custom. They installed it after Christmas, 2020. I ordered it in October and they were front up about how COVID-19 lead to door order delays. But once the door arrives, they will quickly install it. Peak Custom sends a salesperson to your home to walk you through the process, show you samples, measure your current door, and create your door for order. They also go over your financing options. The usual. My salesperson was great. The price was average for the work. I knew going with a made to order door would be more expensive than just installing a door slab and a off the shelf lockset. It was all within my budget. The team that installed my door was excellent. They were organized, showed me the new door and keyset, immediately got to work, and cleaned up after themselves. They had to remove the interior trim to fit in the new door but they put the trim back on and resealed everything. It doesn't look like the trim was removed. My new front door was installed on time and finished that day. No issues. The door opens and closes like a dream. It's so smooth. The peep hole is at my height, just as I ordered it to be. The Install team added quality door weather-stripping to ensure the door fit snug, and was insulated. I brought a different lockset with one keyed deadbolt and one keyed entry. It was the type I wanted when looking at new front doors. The new door I ordered comes with a similar lockset as part of the door package, but didn't have both of them keyed. That option wasn't available, but it wasn't an issue. The Install team put on the lockset I brought. It fits wonderfully since it was similar to the original one. When I went to leverage them again for another property (roof replacement), they kept calling, scheduling appointments, and not showing up. They must have called at least 5 times, but did not show. It's always nice to hear from the owner, however, I'm confused as to why you chose to explain what I already knew about this whole process. I know why the materials for the roof changed, but that doesn't change the fact that I was given much to work with or an apology for the confusion and short notice. I know why the door was delayed, but that doesn't change that I had to reach out to you to find out that there was not only a delay but also I would not receive the product exactly how it was ordered. I know that you don't deliver the product, but that doesn't change the inconvenience of a large package blocking the door from opening. Finally, I understand that a plastic wrapped door may not be damaged by rain because the box gets wet, but wet boxes attract all types of bugs one doesn't want flying around their front door. Further, while someone may be getting in touch with me (hasn't happened yet), it probably would have been nice for you to call and speak to me instead of writing a dissertation as a response to a less than satisfactory review. They damaged my stone veneer by having most of the shingles placed on one peak of my house. The weight caused cracks and allowed leaking. Howard Wilt said they were at fault and would cover my stone repair. He asked if I had a stone guy, which I did. He said to send them the bill. When I did, it was for $3,600. read more

I recently requested an estimate on an entire roof repair( I live in Silver Spring, Maryland ) The company sent out a sales rep( he didnt even have a ladder) who sat me through a two hour long demo on the process of roofing. The reason I am giving this one star is not due to the information regarding the roof, the one star comes from them trying to manipulate the price. At first, they offered 22k for the entire roof(excessive as I have been getting quotes for 11k including warranties and I also have a small home).They said if I signed on the spot, it would be reduced to 17k(making you think this is a good deal). After I told them I was receiving estimates for 11k the rep said he could lower it to 13k. He then proceeded to try to say that if I didnt have the money right away that they could set me up with a loan with an 11% yes 11% interest. He also suggested I could pay in installments. I said I was not ready to make a decision on such a large payment and he said he would talk to his manager about reducing the amount (again). All of this being said, this practice was shameful. It shows the company values money over its customers. By being "ok" with a customer paying 22k for a roof worth 11k, is unacceptable. Encouraging people to sign a contract right away, also requesting people to submit their credit card info on a contract that HAS NOT been signed is worrisome at best. In addition the salesperson kept texting me telling me he could take 100 dollars off when I told him I was not interested. Makes me wonder how many people have been ripped off. Let me get this straight, I dont blame the sales person because he probably makes a commission off of this. I blame the company for having such a shady practice. Sales rep came out to our house to provide quote on a new door. He was clearly following a carefully scripted sales process that he absolutely would not stray from. He walked us through an entire sales process that could have easily been done in 20 minutes, but instead took 1.5 hours. He started the conversation by telling us that we were prob looking at a total of $6-$10k max. Then he proceeded to quote us $28k. $28k for a door????!!??!? Told him it was no affordable for us and he immediately told us that they had financing options. Told him we were not looking to finance and then he came down with cheaper options: $21k. Wasted our time. Appreciate the heavy duty sales training process, but it's not realistic for busy professionals who don't have 1.5 hours to waste on a quote that was 4x what was originally discussed. This review is for a total roof replacement in Federal Hill and a custom sun roof. There was good and bad with this company, but for every oops they really strived to make up for it. The owner, John, who gave me my estimate was very polite, literally went through all my other estimates and explained why they were priced the way they were. This was the most expensive quote we had from four companies, but the only one who could actually tell us about the materials and why he recommended this over that. John explained what we would be getting if we went with his company in layman's terms we could understand. He also fit us in before we were taking off for our honeymoon and got the paperwork and deposit knocked out. The quote was several thousand dollars off, and his crew did not take pictures of the work. However, they did work with my insurance company personally to get the adjuster to provide additional funds to cover the damages that initially lead to the roof replacement. (Old leaky sunroof that put water damage into my ceiling). They also didn't properly tarp the roof one night, and it rained. Which caused my ceiling to leak. They had a crew of about five out there in about 30 min and also repainted my ceiling. It was definitely a little stressful since I was leaving the country that night but it worked out. They also deducted some from the final bill. However, they don't do a line itemization, so you don't actually know how much everything is. That part did catch me off guard in the end and is the reason for the one star deduction. Finally, I was deploying early fall, and the work wasn't completed before I left. They did move me to the top of their list, which was very much appreciated. However, my roof was pretty much original, so there were about seven layers that had to be removed. Plus the original metal roof. I had my neighbors check out the interior and FaceTime me because I had a renter moving in while I was gone. The place was incredibly dusty so I had to hire a maid. They did deduct the amount from the final bill, which was also appreciated and makes up for the hassle. Bottom Line. Would absolutely recommend them and use them again. For every hiccup they certainly tried to rectify the issue. Only reason for the star deduction is because they didn't do a breakout of how much everything cost. read more

A Peak Sales Representative came to our neighborhood soliciting work. I scheduled an appointment for an estimate for a new roof and gutters. It was raining the day of the appointment. I called the office to confirm they were still coming. The estimator /owner answered and confirmed he would arrive at 4pm as agreed. He asked if my wife would be home . I asked why . He stated that is their policy to have both husband and wife present . I explained that I handled all house hold repairs etc. and that she would not be present. He then stated that if I wasn't going to comply that I should find another contractor ,because I wasn't a good fit for them. These were his exact words. I know exactly why they want a women present. I recently requested a quote for siding and windows. The salesperson arrived and was great. I mentioned my significant girlfriend was not here. He asked to make a phone call and got The owner Dan on the phone. He passed me the phone and Dan asked to reschedule when we were both home. He explained to me that there are hundreds of siding choices and the quote will change based on the choice. I replied by saying I have the color picked out and I would like above builders grade quality and was looking for a quote at this time only. I look at the sales person and ask him if he had the hundreds of samples in the car now. He just smiled. After we finished the salesman packed up and left. Recently, I had an excruciatingly frustrating experience with Peak. We bought our house in July 2019. Five months earlier, in March 2019, the couple who previously owned the house paid Peak nearly $12,000 to repair and replace the roof. New bitumen and a chimney refresh. The warranty was a 15 years manufacturer and an 8 year labor warranty. In August of this year I realized water was still coming in from somewhere and getting in between the plaster and brick forcing the plaster to bubble. Outside, I then noticed that about 6 ft of the roof that was tacked (without a termination bar) to the side of the house had blown up over. (We are an end unit row home) It had not been a year and half since the roof was expensively redone. So I found the receipt and called Peak. I called and left messages for a week and half until I received a return call. It thunder-stormed three times during that week and half. Sometime in early September a man finally came out to take pictures of the damage. First, they told me the warranty was non transferable. (17 months!!!) Then they tried to tell me it was an insurance problem because it was wind damage, and not just not knowing how to put a fucking roof on correctly. Our deductible for insurance is $2,000. Then I asked him to quote me directly for the repairs. He told me $900. I asked if there was anything he could do to help us out since it was a year and half ago and honestly, I knew that fixing the roof would've taken an hour and way less money because I'm a smart woman who had another company come out and quote the repair while I was waiting. ($500 to fix AND add the termination bar). They said they would try and speak with the owner of the company. I waited a month, A MONTH, to hear back. And when I did it was to apologize that they still didn't have an answer for me. The roof was not properly installed. The customer service was...in the end, a tortuous experience. I had a person come by my house because they "were in the neighborhood doing work" and asked to give us an estimate on Windows. I was reluctant but we need widows and I figured for a good price it would save me the time. A gentleman called to follow up on meeting and I asked roughly what it cost per window and was told $350-500 per window which isn't bad for a no name vinyl window. The salesman came out and quoted me $16000 for 11 windows ($1450) per window, if I made the purchase that day it went down to $10000 or $900 per window. I balked on the price and was given the "special deal" for around $8000. I kindle declined the sales pitch and the man left. Today I received a call from the commercial division with another "special price" of a little under $7000. Basically I spent an hour wasting my time with a sale pitch like I was buying a new car. No name vinyl windows for Anderson window prices. I suggest you not fall for the buy today "special" pricing and do your homework after you get the quote Just had these people come out for a siding quote, should have known better. Same shorty sales tactics where if you buy today it's cheaper. What a waste of time. read more

I am very happy with the customer-service and workmanship provided by Peak Custom Remodeling and would recommend them to a friend interested in getting a new roof. I requested an estimate for a new roof from Peak Custom via Yelp on the morning of 9 June and the owner, Jonathan, called me within the hour. He was able to meet with me the following day. I signed a contract with him at the meeting. The project manager, Min, contacted me two days later and let me know what to expect and scheduled the date for the project. I had the roof replaced a week later. The supplies were delivered on a Tuesday and the roof was replaced on Wednesday. Other than a new roof, there were no signs of a work-crew having been on my property. Everything was cleaned up nicely. Jonathan met with us later in the evening to make sure we were satisfied and to answer questions. Peak Custom was the fourth and final contractor I had met with for an estimate on a roof. All contractors knew I wanted to replace my roof to help sell my house. Two of the four contractors suggested I lay shingles over the current shingles since I was not having any issues with leaking. I chose to get a full replacement because, although I was selling the house, it is what I would want in a house I was purchasing. I chose to go with Peak Custom because I felt Jonathan took pride in his company's work and would only provide and suggest the best, within budget. read more

Ever heard of a roofer without a ladder? How exactly do you get an estimate of what needs to be done if the roofer refuses to get on a ladder to check out your roof?!? Sorry, but if that's the way this place works, we knew it would only be the start of our troubles if we continued to deal with them, so we moved on. Our communication with the owner of this company started off well enough. We explained repeatedly that we both commute 3 hours on weekdays and needed someone who could come out on a weekend for an estimate. Via messaging through Yelp the owner seemed happy to help and said that would work. We set up an appointment for the estimate and talked with staff and said the estimator would need to get on the roof to see how to repair it and that's where the "fun" started. We were told that estimators for this company usually don't have ladders to get on the roof to see what needs to be done?!? Kind of like being diagnosed by a MD over the phone- would you trust the accuracy of their opinion?! But we went ahead and scheduled the estimate for today and the owner calls us a half hour before the appointment, which we have scheduled our whole day around on a Saturday, and says he won't bring a ladder to get on the roof because of "liability"?!? Hello, aren't you a roofer?! Do you not have insurance? Have us sign a waiver, we'd gladly do so, but we are not interested in a "guesstimate" made from the ground. So, if you want a roofer without a ladder, these are your folks, but for us, we will never work with them or recommend their services. A complete waste of time. read more

Review should be 1.5 stars but not an option but I don't want to give 1 star. This review is based upon trying to receive an estimate. I have no concept of the actual work that Peak performs. It might be fantastic but sadly, I do not think I will ever know. Sunday 5/20, I am out in the yard doing work and someone from Peak is canvassing the neighborhood for leads. So I get his attention and mention that I need to get a quote for siding as I my home has all wood exterior and there are maintenance issues that I am tired of dealing with so I want to put vinyl siding over the existing siding. He is pleasant and professional and takes my information. An appointment is set for Thursday 5/17 at 5pm. That time comes and goes and no one shows up. I get a call from Mike (I think?) at 5:35pm explaining that the guy who was supposed to meet me was in an accident. Stuff happens, I understand so we reschedule for the next day at 3pm. Time comes and goes, no one shows up. At 6:37pm I get a call from Jon who explains that there was a mix up so my appointment was never put on his calendar. OK, sure, things happen, I get it. So reschedule for Sat a week later at 10:30am. Receive a voicemail Friday at 6:33pm confirming for Sat at 10:30. Time comes and goes, no one shows up, no calls, no texts. Called at 10:50am and left a voice mail. It's now 12pm and still no word. I understand that it's a crazy busy time but being professional is doing everything possible to honor commitments and if you run into issues, communicate early and communicate often and it's CRITICAL to do everything possible when you have already had issues twice before AND you confirmed the appointment the day before. I know that your time is valuable but so is your customer's. read more

Chad's assessment only took a few minutes before he got to a conclusion of "these windows are good, you probably don't need to replace them. check your warranty and you might be able to get these replaced for free". Very friendly sales representatives, will explain all about window performance and features and answer questions. Their rep agreed to label all windows in the contract per a house plan sketch I made, and did include it in the contract. Recommend the window manufacture they use (Vinylmax). Customer support responded within a day to multiple questions. Product cut sheet for windows on website provides far more performance and comparison data than other manufacturers. Written contract may not match verbal claims made by sales representatives. Take careful notes when meeting a sales rep. Check against the contract you are sent to sign. Ask if claims made can be incorporated into contact. See how rep responds. I did not accept the quote from the first rep, and during a follow-up visit from a second rep, I pointed out that the second rep stated the original quote was for a lower tier of windows than claimed by the first rep. The second rep acknowledged this and said in his experience the first rep exaggerates. We discussed incorporating a number of statements made by the second rep into the contract language; he agreed. When I received the contract, the warranty language contradicted what was said by the second rep, and the incorporated statements had been placed in the "Work Not Included" part of the contract. When I questioned these, they did not respond, and so I did not move forward. I take no exception to a contractor choosing not to pursue a customer that is taking too much time or causing hassle. It's a shame that the hassle was due to dishonesty. This company has excellent reviews, and appears to have great workmanship. Just take notes during verbal discussion and compare to contract before signing. If it all lines up, then great! Go for it! It's just wasn't so in my case. read more

The front door of my condo was damaged by a fire department and needed to be replaced (frame included). I reached out to Peak, we negotiated a price and 3 weeks later the door was installed (shipping delays due to COVID). Installation was smooth and successful. Upon closer inspection of the door, I realized that the NEW door did not have self closing hinges (The previous door did). I expected a remodeling company with 30 years of experience to know a fire rated interior entry door should be replaced with the same functionality per fire code; I reached out to the sales tech and after a week of runaround I was informed that self closing hinges would be an additional $450 to install. After paying $2,500 for a door and frame this was unacceptable!! I expressed my dissatisfaction to the sales tech and he basically said it wasn't his fault and the price is the price. I asked how much the hinges cost and he replied $100 and then suggested that they could drop the hinges off for $100 and I could install them myself. I replied with, "that's not ideal, but it's the more reasonable option" and the sales tech was okay with that. I am extremely dissatisfied with this alternative after paying $2500 for an entry door; they failed to properly spec a replacement door, and they have failed to deliver on their customer service promise read more

After getting 3 other estimates I found Peak's sales rep, Tim, to be very knowledgable and easy to work with. He gave us a range of options and described the quality and product guaruntee in detail compared to other brands we had previously looked at. Also, Peak's surveyor took detailed measurements of all window dimensions before giving us a quote, something nobody else had done to that level and which was a concern of mine given that this old house had many odd-ball dimensions. Concerned about compromising the historical look and character of our old home (but eager to let go of the inefficiency), we were nervous about switching from wood windows to vinyl. However, after seeing the strudiness and quality look of the full size window in action, we made the leap and are extremely glad we did. The Vinylmax windows look great and feel solid, and we're conforted knowing we have a strong warrantee that includes potential leakage of the double pane seal should it occur. Install was a breeze. It was cold and rainy when the team came out, but they perservered and were very courteous despite the miserable weather. In one day these guys intsalled 15 windows, complete with exterior capping! One of the workers pointed out a component that was damaged during install, which I would never have noticed in a million years, and said the entire sache (sp?) would be replaced. Also, I pointed out a sache on a smaller window that had 4 dividers vice the 6 we had asked for. I said it wasn't a big deal, but Peak insisted on replacing the sache, which I was happy to hear. I am giving this company 3 stars because of the follow-up service and the ordering of a replacement screen door. I had to wait a while on the 2 overpriced doors, but, I wanted to support small businesses during the pandemic, so this is not the issue. Fall of 2021, the glass screendoor was cracked I contacted the company in September and there was no response. I called several times and finally, in October someone called me back. I ordered a screendoor and to date, I have not received my glass screen door. In January 2022, I called and the guy called me back somewhat annoyed that I called asking for a status on my screen door and wasn't understanding of the companies delay and what was going on with the manufacturing community. January 2022 I received a voicemail that my screendoor has arrived and that once the guy who delivers the doors is well I will receive my door. I followed up with I can have someone pick it up and we can install it ourselves and nothing, no response, etc. This is supposed to be a lifelong relationship and I doubt we are going to get along based on the salesman relationship. read more

I hired Peak Custom Remodeling to replace my siding. Their installers were very professional and did an excellent job cleaning up each day when they were done with the work. I was very happy with the siding. I looked online for good companies with good reviews and found their company. The estimator came out the next day and was very knowledgeable and clearly explained all of the different types of siding and insulation that they had available. The siding installation took 5 days and they even came on Saturday and Sunday to finish up. Peak did an excellent job keeping in touch with me, communicating all of the details of the work with me. Thankfully phone records documenting all incoming and out going calls tell a different story than the one described here. Bank records do as well. I never withheld payment to Peak Custom Remodeling. I did send final payment which was not received because the address on the contract signed and given to me was not correct. I also received a credit from Dave to reimburse me for having to place a stop payment on the missing check. Peak can try to make me look bad but I never raised my voice; I do not curse and there is no reason for unruliness. The bottom line is they were paid in full and 6 months is more than enough time for minor issues to have been resolved. read more

Peak Custom Remodeling just re-shingled our roof and my wife and I are very happy with the quality of the work! Three layers of old shingles and the existing gutters had to be removed and replaced with new ones. Julio and his crew from Peak did an excellent job and completed the work quickly and efficiently! These guys did a great job on my new roof. The installers were on time, worked diligently all day, and did a GREAT job cleaning up the mess. The cost was very reasonable too. This is the first time we've purchased a new roof, and the sales guy was great at explaining everything to us, which we really appreciated.
