I naively didn't realize it wasn't always standard to have one. The polishing she did was no more than 30 seconds, only to the exterior of my teeth. I was informed I had a few cavities and Dr. Walia scheduled me for an appointment to get them filled. At this appointment, she only filled one of these cavities (it was not intensive, maybe 15 minutes in-and-out) and informed me she'd be scheduling me for another appointment for the rest, explaining that she didn't want to numb both sides of my mouth and risk me biting my tongue. That's reasonable. I arrived for the next appointment. Dr. Walia's assistant (who she actively degraded throughout my first two appointments) was absent and her receptionist filled in. It's unclear if the receptionist had any training... Again, this was a quick appointment: in and out. The cavity was so minor that we agreed not to use novocain. Yet, I was told I'd have to make yet another appointment for the next cavity. This was scheduled this upcoming Monday, despite my frustration with the process. Just wanted to get it over with. Today, I received a call from Dr. Walia herself, asking to reschedule due to staffing. We agreed on a new date and I did express my frustrations regarding the process. We disconnected and I soon received a text and a call back from Dr. Walia, stating she could keep my original appointment. I expressed concern due to her staffing issues on that date and requested to keep the rescheduled time. Dr. Walia continued to push that she could do the filling on the original appointment date, despite previously indicating she didn't have proper help. At that point, I requested she cancel my appointment and forward me my X-rays from the initial appointment via email so I can continue with a more appropriate dentist. I guess we'll see if I even get those... In providing my email to Dr. Walia, she realized she was not speaking with the patient she had thought she was talking to, noting in surprise that I was not a woman named "Julia." I only hope that her attention to detail holds up better in her dental work.

Over the years there have been ongoing administrative issues, especially with billing and chart mix…read moreups between my account and my mother's because of our similar names. These mistakes happened more than once and created a lot of unnecessary stress. Most recently, I received a charge for an appointment I missed due to being in a car accident. I called the office immediately at the time of the accident, so getting a bill was frustrating especially when insurance covers at 100%. Sorting it out required a three way call with my insurance and the communication from the office during that call felt defensive rather than helpful. Even more concerning, my mother had a situation where she repeatedly reported severe pain and swelling but was reassured everything was "fine and good to go for a shiny new implant." Her condition ended up being far more serious than expected and required her to be in the hospital for several days due to a sever jaw infection. That experience really shook our confidence in the evaluations, treatment, and communication we received. I'm sharing this not to attack anyone, but because these patterns with billing, chart accuracy, and communication have become hard to ignore. I truly hope the office takes feedback like this seriously. Patients need to feel that their concerns are heard, their charts are handled carefully, and that any serious life threatening symptoms are treated with clear attention and care immediately not down the road.

I was also told that they would be contacting our orthodontist to ensure the right teeth would be pulled.Today we arrived for my 8 year old daughter to get her teeth pulled and no one in the office had any idea we were there for an extraction they didn't have nitrous (which I mentioned my daughter would need) and they never contacted the orthodontist so we spent a large amount of time trying to figure everything out just to have to reschedule for another day. After this mistake I wanted them to check my son's appointment for 2 weeks later to ensure that they had their ducks in a row by then. This is when they decided to tell me my sons appointment was scheduled to late in the day for a tooth extraction and they would ask the doctor and get back to us later in the day. Once again I scheduled this appointment only for a tooth extraction and I made that very clear so why was I allowed to schedule that late in the day. We left the office at that point with just a routine follow up and cleaning for my daughter. We had to reschedule her extraction because they didn't have the nitrous I specifically requested be available. A couple of hours later they contacted me saying they could not do my son's extraction that late in the day and I told them they needed to accommodate as I was promised or I would be taking my business elsewhere. The office personnel on the call quickly responded with "I think that would be for the best" and the call ended. I have never been more angry in any patient or customer interaction in my life and I always try and see the other side and give them the benefit of the doubt. I felt this was absolutely ridiculous there was no effort on there part to try and accommodate anything for their employees mistakes. My wife then spent the afternoon contacting other dentist to see if we could get this taken care of asap luckily we found someone quickly so I called morningside dental to have them transfer all the patient info over to the new dentist. I expressed my disappointment again and was met with little to no remorse on the other side. The only two positives from this appointment was the dentist himself was very nice and worked well with my daughter keeping her relaxed and laughing and the dental assistant that cleaned my daughters teeth was very kind, understanding, and the apologetic about the confusion while we were there.

I went to Dr. Faubl for a tooth that was infected & causing pain & one that was already loose. Both teeth needed to be extracted which I had no problem with. Since one was a front tooth, I wanted to replace it for cosmetic reasons. The other was a back tooth which I decided I was not going to replace. For the front tooth, Dr. Faubl did a fixed bridge consisting of a false tooth attached to two new crowns fitting over the existing teeth on either side. The cost for this procedure was $3,999.99 before a discount from a dental saving plan purchased directly from Dr. Faubl. The cost after the discount plus the cost of the dental plan was $3756.99. Upon the recommendation from a good friend, I have since started going to another local long-time dentist. Out of curiosity, I asked this dentist the cost of the same procedure for the missing back tooth. To my amazement, my new dentist quoted a price of $2,870.00, which is more than 28% less than the full price from Dr. Faubl. Of additional concern is that Dr. Faubl said that I no longer need to take an antibiotic prior to dental work to help to prevent infection since I had a prior knee joint replacement. However, my new dentist insists that I do take an antibiotic prior to dental work & wrote a Rx for it. I know that Dr. Faubl will say that this is no longer recommended, but I rather be safe than sorry & wind up with a serious knee infection. (I was talking to a good friend about this, & he said his brother got a serious knee infection from not taking an antibiotic prior to dental work.) By the way, before going to Dr. Faubl I was going to another local dentist for many years but he sold his practice & retired. But I continued to go there for routine dental work & saw most or all of the dentists that bought the practice. The last dentist that I saw there quoted a price of $2,700.00 for the fixed bridge procedure, also after a dental discount plan. I did not have it done there because I did not really care for, or have confidence in any of the dentists that bought the practice. However, they did have me take an antibiotic before most dental work.
