Yet Another Happy Customer I have EasyTwist frames made in Port Royal, QC. Other optical shops told me I needed new frames and refused to grind lenses for my discontinued model. I suspected they were just trying to extract more money from me. So I did my homework. I checked out the Randolph Engineering website and decided that if I did need new frames, I wanted Randolphs -- they have that classic aviator look I love, and they're built to last. I figured that any optician who carried Randolph frames probably cared about quality and precision. Then I read the reviews and found Ronald Reisz. He's a traditional optician in the best sense of the word -- highly skilled, sourcing lenses and frames from top suppliers, and taking the time to properly grind and finish lenses (something chain stores don't always do anymore). Reisz examined my EasyTwist frames and said, "EasyTwist frames are tanks." He assured me they were still in great shape and was happy to reuse them with my new prescription. The results are outstanding. His fees are absolutely fair. He's not the cheapest option, but he's the right option if you want precision, craftsmanship, and lenses done properly. I love my new glasses! I have been getting glasses from Ronald Riesz for about 15 years! He doesn't disappoint! I have high myopia or extreme nearsightedness which generally means very thick glasses to correct! Ron suggests frames that helps minimize the lens thickness, and are fashionable and look good on me. Then he sets the lenses in the frames and polishes the edges of the lenses to help hide the thickness. The fist pair of glasses I got from Ron, I couldn't believe they were my prescription, they were so much thinner than any glasses I had gotten previously! Ron suggested 1.74 high index lenses, something that another optical shop didn't offer as it wasn't covered by insurance. I chose to not use my vision insurance so I could get the highest quality glasses available. My vision is worth it! Surprisingly, the pair of glasses this year were only $20 more expensive than the pair I bought from him 5 years ago! With inflation I was expecting them to be a lot more expensive! I walked in on New Year's Eve - albeit last minute- to buy a pair of glasses to take advantage of my vision plan benefits. I was ready to buy! There was another customer in the shop speaking to the optometrist. I didn't interrupt but instead started looking at the selection of frames. Not once was I greeted or asked if I needed help or had questions. I spent at least 30 minutes in the shop, actively trying on frames, at one time, having 3-4 in my hands at times. I was totally ignored. During my time there, I noticed total disorganization. There were papers, invoices, receipts all over the desk, which I had to walk around to get to the frame displays. The office was run down and very messy. Despite the fact that there was a good selection of frames, I ended up walking out without any acknowledgment that I was there. Took them right over to Ron, found a frame with the same drill holes, and he switched them over in 20 minutes! I walked in unannounced and walked out very happy. I had 4 pairs of broken glasses.. one pair Ronald thought he could possibly try to bend back but warned me it might break... the arm was unwearable so I said go for it. He was right.. it broke.. but then he found spare arms and brought my favorite pair of glasses back to life for a very reasonable fee. I went to see Ron recently for new lenses. I bought glasses at a place in an adjacent town and paid a lot of money for them. Ron measured the the optical center on the lenses and it turns out the other place where my glasses were from were off by 6 millimeters on the lenses! After having my new lenses from Ron, I can see much clearer! I highly recommend him as he knows his stuff and has been in the business for a while. read more

Ron is a perfectionist and that's what I want for my eyes! Over the years, I've had various eye problems and Ron has gone out of his way to make sure that my glasses are perfect. People think that the "little guys" charge more than the big stores but Ron's prices have been great when compared to the chains and he always has gotten my glasses right when the chains have messed them up. I have a very strong prescription, something like a -10 and astigmatism. When I have gotten new glasses, Ron has been very helpful with frame selection to try to "minimize" the thickness of the lenses and then he "grinds" them, or does something special to them to help the thickness as well. The first time I got glasses from him, I actually thought he ordered the wrong prescription, because the lenses looked so much better than the coke bottles I had been wearing.
