He spoke to me about the space expectations for heavy drapery, as well as the maintenance requirements, and we quickly pivoted to other options. When he brought up the idea of a pull-down shade, I balked hard; my visions of those types of shades was outdated. We ended up choosing exactly what he suggested and I AM ECSTATIC! It took about four weeks to come in, the installer showed up right on time, and this is a blackout shade that looks so elegant and modern - I am thrilled. It rolls smoothly, and as it rolls down it seamlessly glides over the sliding glass door handle. I was envisioning something more clunky, something that protruded but this lays flat and truly blocks the light. Allen allowed me to quickly text him the scope of my request so that he could judge whether he could help me. He and Silvano came out to take measurements and two weeks later they returned to wash the exterior glass and to install my screens. (I believe my requested two-week turn-around was quicker than normal, though.) Allen and Silvano were friendly, responsive, brief in their explanations, knowledgeable, and competent in their work. I ended up with some great-looking and energy-saving seasonal screens that I will likely leave up all year. The sliding door screens can also be locked in place for security. Southwest Sun Screens was one of my first calls based on their strong reviews and excellent feedback. I knew the moment Ryan answered the phone that I was talking with someone who genuinely cared about his company and earning my business. Ryan answered all my questions and offered solutions and ideas based on his extensive experience. It was like talking with a trusted friend who is an expert in his field. He came to the house exactly when he said he would and we talked "everything screens and windows". He is super knowledgeable and friendly and was willing to share best practices and his best results so that our screens were exactly what we wanted. He measured multiple times to ensure everything was perfect and would fit tight. The doors that the screens are going into are custom, and therefore not exactly, perfectly straight and square, though you would never know by looking at them. He helped us decide on the fabric, the frame, the design and the clips to hold the screens in place, always guiding us using our happiness as his barometer, which I really appreciated. Ryan and his partner came back to do the install and arrived exactly when they said they would. The screens didn't quite fit, too tight (no good deed goes unpunished, right? He wanted them tight) and he was beyond apologetic and explained exactly what had happened. He said he felt bad and wanted to get it right for us, but that he would do whatever it takes to remake the screens without costing us an additional penny, and even said if we decided we didn't want them, he would understand. I truly wasn't upset about this at all, there will be glitches with everything, that's not the question, the question is "how does the company handle it?" Ryan couldn't have handled it better, again, keeping our happiness and satisfaction "top of mind." You just don't find this type of caring service very often. He remeasured several more times and we discussed exactly what he would modify to make it work for us. He returned precisely when he said he would, always texting to let me know he was on his way, with the new screens, got them all installed, even installed some weatherstripping I had purchased to shore up a small gap from the door not being 100% square.They look incredible. I couldn't ask for more in terms of quality, timeliness, conscientiousness, care and honesty. I highly recommend Southwest Sun Screens to anyone and everyone, even if you're just shopping around, call and speak with Ryan and he will make you feel like family. Southwest was the only one to proactively ask who our window manufacturer was (Anderson) and proffered up that they will do a different type of install to ensure they would not negatively impact the integrity of the window frames or warranty. Other companies said they would drill into the frame or stucco, which was not our preference. As for the price, they were equally competitive, but with a better overall product, non-intrusive installation, very personable staff with no hard sell, and rapid professional installation. The install took them no time for 13 windows (including one on a door) and the finished product actually improved the look of the house! As for functionality, yes, they do the job! I can't rate higher so 5 stars it is.
