If you want a classic tiki experience in Nashville, this is the place to go. I love a good tiki bar, and try to visit one in every city I travel to. While in Nashville, I visited three of them (as far as I can tell, there are only three in the city). The Pearl Diver is far and away the best tiki bar in Nashville. The drinks are excellent, with both classics and unique creations on the menu. The service is quick and friendly. I couldn't believe how fast the bartender could crank out quality tiki drinks! She knows what she's doing. The food is tasty, with a fun Asian/Latin American fusion that fits the theming. Perhaps most importantly to me, the atmosphere was on point. I go to a tiki bar to relax and escape the busyness of a big city. For that reason, they should be laid-back, tropical, and festively decorated. This place checks all the boxes! read more

Our experience at Pearl Diver was unfortunately disappointing from the moment we walked in. This was actually our third attempt at enjoying a nice evening there, following two previous visits that were also marked by confrontational interactions and poor food and beverage experiences. We had hoped this visit would be different. We entered and stood at the front host stand for approximately 2-3 minutes with no host present. Unsure how seating worked, I walked to the bar to ask for assistance and was immediately yelled at by the bartender for my ID. As I retrieved it from my wallet, the bartender walked away. While I was still holding my ID out, a second bartender asked what I needed. I asked if there was a host, and was told "no." When I responded asking how seating worked, I was told to "find a seat." At that time, all visible seats were full. I walked back to the entrance to explain the situation to my wife. We re-entered and asked a group who were occupying only half of a larger seating area whether the remaining space was available. Their response was that they believed others were coming later. I then attempted to walk past the bar to see if there might be additional seating in the back, and was again yelled at by the bartender demanding my ID -- despite having just presented it moments earlier. The lack of organization, combined with repeated confrontational interactions from staff, made what should have been a pleasant evening uncomfortable and unwelcoming -- particularly disappointing given that this was our third effort to give the establishment another chance. read more

Looking for a hip spot with lots of outdoor seating, a great happy hour and delicious burritos? Look no further than Pearl Diver! I was pinching myself for not stopping in here sooner. I went with a friend on a Monday evening and it wasn't very crowded. I ordered the dole whip and she got the devils flower cocktails. We also got some chicken tinga burritos which were cheesy and bean filled wrapped in homemade tortillas with love. Pearl diver is a festive dive bar that never disappoints during the holidays. The staff here is very welcoming and pretty quick with providing service. Not a lot of seating inside, but plenty outside. I suggest getting there early especially during the cold months. There are heaters on the patio in case you aren't seated inside. I do not recommend the pierogis. They were hot on the outside but somewhat cold on the inside and lacked flavor. You can tell these aren't something that's made in house. More like a heat up and serve. I would definitely just stick to ordering drinks here. They do have a Photo Booth, so be sure to document the good time you and your people have here. We loved everything about our experience! The staff were kind and friendly. We went around Christmas so it was decked out with lights, trees and decor. They had seasonal drinks with festive cups/glasses. Cocktail and mocktail options. I ordered the coco ho ho ho that consisted of gold Jamaican rum, lime, coconut, pineapple, pandan syrup and banana liqueur. It was fun and I enjoyed it! They also serve food throughout the night where we ordered the hand breaded chicky chunx served with a honey curry sauce. They were super fresh and sort of like a chicken nugget. We're both into retro things, and Pearl Diver feels like a slightly more modern take on a retro tiki bar. The food was really excellent, especially the fried rice - best either of us have ever had. The drinks were exceptional, and we enjoyed playing pool, as well as the dice game on the table (Captain, Ship, Crew I believe it's called?). A really cool tiki bar and you must come here for Christmas because they do an amazing pop up bar called miracle. Their drinks are fun and especially during the holidays, they have cool themed and mixed cocktails. The whole space is decorated beautifully and they even had life size candy cane and Santa hats on the bar chairs. I was definitely in the holiday spirits here! I got the koala la la drink and it was very refreshing. Their drinks also came in festive mugs which was super cool. I'm actually sad the food was not as good. I got the pupu platter and while there was variety, it was not worth $50 and the portions of each item was small. The food was meh and I was disappointed. We (2) went around the Christmas holiday. We split the sampler platter which was good. Enough food for 2 people so the cost made up for itself as essentially 2 meals. Drinks on the other hand were expensive and appeared to be pre mixed and poured from a pitcher. Great ambiance. Rude front of house staff and really no interaction with the bartender. You definitely feel the tropical vibes, especially on the patio. I love that the focus is on sugarcane spirits (though that's not all they offer). We went to the Numbskull Halloween popup at Pearl Diver, and enjoyed our time there! As a party of 4 on a Friday night, we were able to get drinks at the bar and wait about 20 minutes for a table.
