Breathtaking and sad all at the same time and imagining what happened that 12/7/41 day. My tears and heart are with the USS Arizona memorial to remind us of the gratitude we have for our precious military from all walks of life and also some from other countries who passed away 12/7/1941. The staff are wonderful to heartfully share their knowledge of this sad day in history. The tours on the USS Arizona are free or you can pay for tours also. But you should arrive by 7am or 8am to get yourself checked in on the text msg list for the line for the free tour and each day is different depending on how many people are booked on tours and who show up without reservations in advance that day. So I think there's nothing wrong w coming by 7am to get on the list and the first boat leaves at 8am. You don't have to book a private tour unless you want to and they start around $50 on various websites. There's a $12 audio tour phone w corded ear phones that you can hear while you walk around to the different exhibits before the boat that takes you to the USS Arizona memorial. I found the audio phone device to be poorly designed and old and the ear phones don't fit well, and the pics are too small and don't expand and the font and writing is in like 6 point font so it's tiny and hard to see, and it's not touch screen. There are no videos and the screen is the same size as an iPhone plus which is too small for those who can't see well. I would avoid this optional addition for $12. My personal preference is to research YouTube videos before and after even if the audio device you rent at the memorial will tell you what each exhibit represents. There is much more info on YouTube and Wikipedia. It's wonderful they have the honoring of the US and those who died with the Star-Spangled Banner song at 8am daily where you put your hand on your heart and take off your hats to honor the sacred space and those who served in the military. Parking is not free as it's $7 with a QR code you have to scan w your cell phone to pay. It's best to come early after 7am so you can find a good parking spot or a spot at all during peak seasons.

My first time that I visited this memorial was in 1995. It was awesome and I loved the guided tour. It's remarkable on how many names are listed on that memorial wall. When I was there I looked into the water and saw a thin layer of oil that comes from the sunken ship. You can actually still see one of the smoke stacks sticking out the water. My second visited to this memorial was in 2007. I do hope to get another opportunity to visit here again.

Staggeringly sobering the impact that that fateful day had on the island, the territory, and the USA. The Arizona memorial is a must. Booking ahead for tickets to the memorial is not negotiable. A trip to Ford Island was rewarding, the aviation museum, the USS Missouri and especially for lunch at the Blue Box. Informative and courteous citizen staff, park rangers, and the US Navy & Marine sailors & soldiers staffing the site get a big thank you.

This was a beautiful, somber memorial. 100% recommend visiting this historic site. We were unable to get tickets ahead of time so we just showed up and within 45 minutes we were on the ferry to see the USS Arizona. Do NOT pay a tour to go to this. This exhibit is free of charge with some optional paid upgrades (like headphone tutorials). 1. There is a $7/car parking lot out front that is very packed. Leave your bags and purses in cars as they are not allowed inside the visitor center. 2. You can rent lockers. Theft is apparently rampant so be smart about your belongings. You may only take a small wallet or clear bag inside. 3. You then go through security before you even see a ticket desk. (No purses.) The majority of this site is free. 4. Go immediately to sign up for the free standby tour of USS Arizona. 5. Enjoy all the free sites and information spread out through this memorial. 6. Optional fee experiences available at ticket counter. 7. Remember to be reverent.

I came to Hawaii in large part to visit the memorial and park. I was very disappointed. The visitor center is the best part. The air museum is sad. It's small and run-down. And has little to show. The whole base looks pretty dilapidated. I was embarrassed at how everything was rusted, signs were faded, displays were dusty, etc. and the Arizona memorial was closed for construction. This was definitely not worth the high price of admission. I thought this would be a solemn well-maintained museum but it was pretty run-down and the prices felt like gouging. Go see the Evergreen air museum or the Western Aviation Museum (WAAM) they are both 5 times better and better reflective our amazing Air force and Navy.

Absolutely speechless. What a beautiful memorial and a beautiful harbor. We reserved our tickets well in advance of our trip to Pearl Harbor which was good because it was a popular day to visit. The memorial is absolutely stunning memorial to all those who lost their lives on December 7th 1941 and those who also lived and decided to be buried with their crew when they eventually passed. You'll see names and recent years on the backend of the memorial and that is what that means. You have limited time at the site so spend your time wisely and respect the memorial as it's a somber and place of prayer.

I didn't know much of the details about the attack of Pearl Harbor and the events that occurred on December 7, 1941, but I definitely learned much more during my time here. It's free to get into Pearl Harbor but it costs extra to go to other exhibits like certain museums. The USS Arizona memorial is very popular and it's best to make a reservation online ahead of time. It's free but costs $1 for a reservation fee per person. If you don't make this reservation, you can wait in the standby line when you get there and hope there's room on the boat for you. There are two exhibits onsite that walk through the Road to War and the Attack on Pearl Harbor, where you can learn about the political and global events leading up to that devastating day. There was also a 23 minute video at the Memorial Theater that summarized the history, attack, and response. The video happens every hour on the 15 and 45. This is a place where you can spend anywhere from a couple hours to all day because there's so much to see and so much to soak in. This was such a cool experience.

We didn't know if we wanted the 5 hour Honolulu Tour, which includes "fast passes" to the memorials, or to buy individual tickets, or to do some Go Oahu city card special to maximize the choices, so we just didn't include it on our itinerary and felt like bad people. Instead, we went to visit the area, unaware that the National Park Service operated visitor center is a fulfilling experience on its own. Past the huge parking lot and cramped but large gift shop, visitors have clear views of the memorials, the remembrance circle that lists casualties by ship and affiliation (who are on "eternal patrol") and civilians, access to the 8-ton anchor and mast from the Arizona, and enough infographical displays ("interpretative wayside exhibits") to keep you reading about the days before during and after the attack for 90 minutes. The visitor center also has two exhibit galleries containing memorabilia, photographs, and artifacts. I was especially impressed with the "park" outside the USS Bowfin Submarine Museum (a historic partner), which detailed each sub's record like a playing card without hiding some unpleasant history (like stupid mistakes or friendly fire). Note: The park is essentially part of PH, but the museum, the Battleship Missouri Memorial, and the Aviation Museum are not managed by the NPS and they have their own websites and admissions) I found the visitor center enough for me, but make your reservations for something more up-close and in-depth. Warning: they only honor reservations from Recreation.gov., GroupOn, and Go Oahu, so you won't likely get in with a "free Pearl Harbor" tour from Cuckoo Coconuts or the like. I regret not choosing the self-guided Pacific Historic Parks Pearl Harbor Audio Tour and VR experience, not because it walks you through 27 stops, but because it's narrated by Bobcat Goldthwait. I'm kidding- it's Jamie Lee Curtis. So, that's pleasant. Unless you're Michael Myers.

We had trouble finding parking but once we got in, we had a wonderful time. The exhibits were super interesting and made you relive the days leading up to the attack and after. The world might be a different place if not for that happening and how we responded.

Go and enjoy the experience and learn about the attack on Pearl Harbor. The ride to the USS Arizona is free and reserved time is recommended although they have stand line if you don't have a reservation. If you reserve a time be sure to arrive 10 min prior. A movie can also be seen that is shown on the 15 and 45 min of every hour. You can purchase ticket for other tours of the other museums on site or pay for fully guided tours and audio tours. The design of this memorial is breathtaking. Well worth the experience. No bags allowed so you will need to secure them in your car. No drinks allowed except for water and parking is $7 per vehicle that is paid with a credit card via online.

Reading some of these reviews, I realize people really get off complaining about everything. I hope I don't meet these people in person, I'm pretty sure they must generally hate life and / or see the negative in everything. I'm not sure how you can rate this less than a five (maybe four if you're in a bad mood) experience. If you go to the website and even do a small @$$ amount of research, they tell you everything (bag policy, reserving tickets in advance, parking challenges, etc.). Also, they charge for other areas because they need to generate revenue to maintain the site. It's not like they have a massive budget with lots of money. But like I said, people like to b#$%, moan and be generally full of themselves. I appreciate they reserve tickets for people to order the day before. If you order tickets the day before, note you have to order them right when they are released - they are only $1 and will sell out within minutes. Also, like the website encourages you to do, please create an account ahead of time. The entire site is impeccably maintained. There are many displays to see, read, and learn, including a theater where you can watch a video with some real footage. The whole experience is breathtaking, and the scope of sacrifice and loss indescribable. The Arizona memorial experience is incredible and extremely sober. If you are fortunate enough to visit Pearl Harbor, you will not regret it, even if you are unable to take a boat to visit the actual memorial.

This is a very moving monument knowing that over 900 servicemen and civilians died during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. The memorial was quiet but informative, providing the names of those who are interned at the memorial. Parking is seven dollars and can be paid electronically. No bags or any kind is allowed within the grounds of Pearl Harbor, and must be checked into storage at a cost of around seven to ten dollars. The entrance to to the memorial is free however, that includes a boat ride to the memorial which lasts around 45 minutes from start to finish. Although we did not partake in the full tour, a ship and submarine tour is available for a cost of under $100. I have visited several times during the years, and this never gets old!

I marked this as one of the must visit spots on my list. And it did not disappoint. So much history was unraveled for me. Some things that I did not know as well. I have more appreciation for the courage of our men and women in uniform. Anxiety made me skip the boat ride but I enjoyed everything else.

Great experience. Very interesting to learn about the struggles on 12-7-1941 and the years after. Easy to get to via Uber and Lyft from Waikiki. There are many other ways to get there but for about $30 ride share makes it easy. I wouldn't drive because traffic is terrible and it seems like parking is limited. Be sure to book get a ticket at least a day in advance online and book it for sometime in the morning or you will not be able to see the other sites like the USS Battleship Missouri, Pacific Aviation Museum, Bowfin Submarine, Oklahoma Memorial. If you are a National Park enthusiast don't forget your parks passport book. My daughters are 5 and 7 and they did well here. They especially enjoyed the sub. Note that the memorial is under repair at this time. You will go out on the boat and pass by the memorial but you will not go on or in it. read more

The renovation is well executed and the grounds are very nice. After the documentary in the theatre you will board the boat and ride out to the Memorial. Guests should note this is in rememberance of the 1,175 seaman who died serving our great nation and to be respectful and conduct yourselves as such. If you want to be a tourist go to the beach. read more

We visited here the first week of January and definitely recommend if you have never been before. We got our reservations to visit the Arizona Memorial through rec.gov. That included admission to the Bowfin, Missouri and aviation museum. It also included a small fee to secure a reservation time for the memorial and a headset tour. The memorial itself is closed right now until March while they do repairs to the dock/landing area. However, they are still going out on the boat for a tour of battleship row. The visitors center has been remodeled in the past few years and it is a nice experience. The museum at the visitors center is definitely worth checking out. There is a short film you have to view before you can get on the boat. Also, as others mention, you pretty much cannot bring anything with you into the visitor center area. We brought no bags of any kind so there were no issues there. Got there early as well so parking was not a problem. By the time we left in the afternoon, it was much more busy. read more

Probably the most intense historical sight I have ever seen. This is not like your average run of the mill museum. You will be standing over an actual underwater cemetery. I don't know exactly how to describe the thoughts or feelings that ran through my head while I was here but if there was ever something in Hawaii unexpectedly worth seeing, this was it. It is the final resting place of many soldiers, and looking down at their boat underneath of you brings out the reality of war. The movie and the tour line before you depart to the site is mandatory and very important. I am not a fan of history or ever had given much thought to what had happened until my visit here. read more

This is an amazing place and amazing tribute to our fallen men. You should plan to get there 10-15 min before your ticket time. If you miss your ticket time, you may not be permitted in. It's not as easy as just jumping on the next boat because tickets get sold out. We got there right at our ticket time and didn't know enough to go to the front of the line so we could board with our ticket time. We waited in the back of the line only to realize what happened. The guy taking the tickets made an example of us a few times. Kept telling us there wasn't room (despite varying amounts of people going in), made us wait over an hour. When my husband finally pushed the issue there was magically a bunch of available seats. Otherwise the day and the memorial was incredible. read more

Visiting Pearl Harbor was an amazing experience. I'm not much of a history junkie and I still enjoyed it. The film that they showed in the theater was very educational and I think I learned a lot. You are able to see sunken ships and ships that are still above the water it's so cool they're very big it's awesome. The scenery is gorgeous the water is so clear pearl harbor it was an experience I will never forget read more

I had a chance to go with my high school and it was amazing. We all got to go on the different ships, and on the boat to see the memorial. It was truly an amazing and life changing experience. Learning outside of the classroom is something that should happen more often, as it brings the stories to life. Especially history. When we were learning about Pearl Harbor in US History, it felt like just another event in time that we had to memorize. Then, once we were there it hit me. People were still in that boat under the memorial. They are gone, and they sacrificed their lives for us. Going to this gave me a new appreciation for the men and women who risk their lives everyday, and I learned more than I could imagine about the actual event. read more

The reviews speak for themselves, and I can't even begin to do it much justice by raving about it. You must make the trip here, if only to pay homage to all the lives that were lost, not just American ones. It is a very somber experience but a very enlightening one as well. To see our history, a world of hate that has evolved into something we can touch with our hands and to be a part of a landmark event is so profound. It's worth the half day experience and you should definitely pay for the audio tour. Make reservations early and be prepared to take your time. read more

I'm a huge WWII buff so I had to go check this place out, it was okay. There really wasn't much to see, I want to dive into the harbor and see some old wreckage. The hotdogs were wicked expensive. read more

A must do for any visitor to Hawaii, whether American or other. An historically important place in the history of the US and 20th century. Get there early and expect a full day if you are into reading and watching related videos. Remember be respectful... no silly selfies and loud talking. read more

This is a go to place when in Hawaii. The Pearl Harbor visit was one of my favorite activities to experience on my trip. Not only was it planned out very well, but it was very enlightening and eye opening. As high school students, the group of people that I went with didn't truly have that great of an understanding before coming here; we did however come home with a tremendous amount of new knowledge. The movie that was shown to us was very intriguing and explained all the events quite well. Also the boat tour around the harbor was a great thing to experience as well since we were able to see what it was like. Unfortunately the Arizona Memorial was closed due to natural damage, but it was beautiful to see. read more

Very inspiring and moving. Do you research on tour times and tickets first. You really need to get tickets in advance! We didn't do either, got there at 3 PM, and the last tours had left already. We were disappointed, but it was our own fault. We were able to visit the several self-guided small museums that are open until 5. I was surprised that they don't show the 23 minute movie on the history of the area after 3:00. At only 23 minutes, they could have shown it four or five times. read more

A must visit for anyone that gets the opportunity to do so. We were blesses to be hosted by a driver from the hotel who told us the story from a Japanese-American perspective. The Visitors Center included an auditorium which presented a film documentary of the attack. The only downside was that the Arizona docking station is under repair and we were unable to leave the boat. I found a quiet calmness to Pearl Harbor despite all the horror that occurred on December 7th, 1941. read more

Such a deep history. Pearl Harbor evokes feelings that are rooted in the 40's and current as yesterday. You're inside and outside and seeing real pieces of history. General admission is affordable and it's a piece of American history that can't be overlooked. read more

Support the troops! We went to the Bowfin and took the tour. We plan on going again to do a tour of the USS Ariozona. Great place to learn about WWII and how it affected the US Military, Hawaii and the United States. There is a lot to look at so plan on spending the day there. Prices are also affordable for the tours and there is a lot of parking. Wear comfortable shoes though and don't forget your camera! read more

Pearl Harbor is a stunning attraction on the island of Oahu. It's rich with culture and history and frankly I don't know how you could go to this Hawaiian island without checking out this tourist attraction. Go early, the lines can be long to go out to the memorial and be warned, there isn't much in terms of healthy food (read: there are hotdogs so pack a snack). Over all though it's enthralling to learn about another countries history on an event that helped define them as a nation and a war that changed the world as we know it. read more

Tinier museum and a nice video here to prep you for the visiting the USS Arizona Memorial that is out over the water. Fairly crowded. The USS Arizona Memorial has a separate Yelp page, though I can't imagine anyone coming to the Visitor Center and then skipping the actual meat of the exhibit. read more

We came here without any pre purchased tickets so obviously we were disappointed that the uss Arizona tour was sold out, but luckily for us the uss Missouri was an awesome tour. Our guide was informative and we got to explore the whole battle ship and learned a great deal. From what I've heard, the Arizona you kinda just look into water at the ship vs the Missouri where you actually get to explore around the ship where the Japanese officially signed surrender documents. Very much worth visiting. read more

We were told to set aside 5 hours if you want to explore all that Pearl Harbor has to offer. If you only have about an hour or two you can still see plenty and its FREE. Every day Pearl Harbor gives away 2000 free tickets to see the USS Arizona. There are also 2 different areas with memorabilia at the main visitor center. If you visit Oahu this is a must see. I did get a little teary eyed watching some of the movie clips but it is also very humbling to visit such a historic site. I was also lucky enough to meet one of the Pearl Harbor survivors, Denton "Uncle Wally" Walling. read more

A must see especially if it's your first time at Oahu! My friends and I visited the USS Arizona. It was free! You take a boat to the site and just walk around the memorial. It's very moving! I definitely recommend it! read more

I thought the tour of the Missouri was amazing. They let you cruise around almost the entire ship. We could have stayed in there for hours getting lost. The USS Arizona was pretty cool, but you do not really see anything, but the top of the ship. Worth seeing, would I go back a second time, probably not. read more

Pearl Harbor is a must visit place for anyone. It is free to access the visitor's center, but you aren't allowed to take in any kind of bag, including purses and camera bags, so leave those in the car. You can easily spend a whole day here with all of the many museums and things to see. There is the USS Memorial tour, which is a must do. It isn't expensive and it is an incredible historical experience. There is also a tour available to see the Bowfin submarine and museum, and the USS Missouri battleship, both have admission fees (which I think is kinda high). The location is great, and there are some cool things on site from the USS Arizona Anchor to airplane guns to torpedos. read more

The tickets are free but this place is a huge attraction. Your best bet is to get your tickets on line up to 3 months ahead of time and even those go fast. Go early in the morning to beat the crowds. Even if you are not a history buff you will thoroughly enjoy Pearl Harbor. Be sure to tour the USS Arizona. We also found out that they do not have wheelchairs available. read more

Pearl Harbor and the U.S.S. Arizona is a must see if you are in Oahu. It is very organized and they are very clear how you can get tickets if you didn't get them weeks in advance. I went online at 7am and got the time I wanted, but the tickets were gone in 10 minutes for that day so you have to be fast. The Memorial was very somber and fitting for its purpose, but the most touching part was the movie they played before actual tour. I teared up and my teenage son said he got choked up too. Every American needs to know this history and the men who gave their lives to protect our country. We also went on the Bowfin submarine and did the audio tour, which is very worthwhile. read more

I love historical landmarks. I've taken my 2 out of 3 visitors here. This is a must see because it is so significant in USA's history. Arrive early to make sure you get tickets (free) for the USS Arizona. If they happen to run out, try the stand-by. I did that with one of my visitors and was able to join the 2nd or 3rd group after. There is also a free museum. We also got to meet, take pictures, and get an autograph from some veterans. This last time I went to the USS Bowfin and museum, which has a decent price with kama'aina. It was pretty cool going inside and listening to the audio. The USS Bowfin museum was a little confusing with the audio. The numbers were hard to find. Next time, I will have to check out the USS Missouri and the Pacific Aviation Museum. I definitely recommend this for locals and visitors. read more

Not my first time here, but every time I visit, I still get the chills of being at such a historic landmark. Staff are very friendly and I've never had an issue. Definitely recommend to friends & family as a go-to place when visiting Oahu. They offer Kamaina (local) and Military discount tours and if you are active duty, you may drive on to Ford Island to visit the USS Utah memorial, which is not included in any tours. read more

The kiddos all hiked up to the top with the adults and did a great job. One of the kiddos was a little cranky having to avoid people and pull over next to the rocks to let people pass, but she survived and quit complaining once we offered a shaved iced once we were back at the trail head. #highlyrecommend

I drove up to the guard shack, showed my ID and was able to park in the open lot. I recommend carpooling as parking is limited. I hadn't hiked Diamond Head in 10 years, so I forgot how strenuous it can be. I wore comfortable athletic sneakers, a large sun hat and brought a 24 oz water bottle with me. There's little to no shade for most of the hike. Certain parts of the hike are steep and uneven. Definitely take your time and don't feel rushed. There's enough room for people to go around you, if needed. I saw some elementary kids zip past me, so even younger kids can do it. There is a steep stairwell and a dark tunnel that leads to the top. Once I got to the lookout, it was so crowded. It was hard to take photos and gather with my friends. I felt so claustrophobic. After that, I climbed back down. When I got to the end of the hike, I went to the gift shop kiosk. There's a bunch of Sanrio exclusive merch that I picked up for my friends. I thought that was the best reward for my hike.

#1 Worst Possible Place for Lyft/Uber Drivers, EVER. THE worst staff in all of Hawaii tourism. And that's sad because most people understand a lot of their business comes from Lyft/Uber drivers. Amd with Hawaii tourism being what it is right now it's the last place you want to make uncomfortable, unwelcome, and disrespectful actions towards those drivers. I dropped a couple passengers there today (mind you the parking lot-it has been EMPTY for some time) and I chose a safe out of the way spot between some cones as there is NO DIRECTION on where to safely drop passengers...was pulling out when some douche bag sick swinging past their prime, embarrassment to the military, came out and made traffic stop so he could "scold me," and promise me a $200 ticket for dropping passengers there again. I asked him to show me a sign with that information on it....there isn't one. I asked him where to find that information besides some from some petulant overly aggressive has been..., it was only him that can tell us. As I reminded him that unless I'm omniscient, there wasn't a way to know this information, he got very angry and was even more aggressive. So tell me, how would he be able to ticket me, let alone how does he think he has a right to stop me and explain all this? He's lucky I didn't just drive over his foot. Next time I will. And then you want my license plate? Hmmm...here's your less than one star review for the time of mine that you wasted. I hope you feel as cheap as the ass you made of yourself is. You're the type of person who everyone hates because you're "that guy," the guy that everyone knows is an idiot except himself. You like to be this guy because it makes you feel powerful so you continue to talk down to people and to posture yourself and patronize others with wild abandon but what you don't realize is that you're ridiculous and small and nothing you say matters because you're just THAT GUY. AND ONCE AGAIN, unless it's absolutely clear that you're not allowed to pull over so a human can get out of the car, which takes all about 5-10 seconds, then I'm not so sure you can even stop me. What's your badge number again? Oh ya, you don't have one. You're "security..." a "rent a cop" who's always dreamed of being a real cop. And then what happens is that YOU hold up the traffic to patronize and posture... who really is causing an unnecessary problem? YOU. IF there is a separate place to drop people & pick them up IT SHOULD BE VERY CLEAR. It's definitely not so you can go to hell in a hand basket. Watch out for the parking old geezer squad, swinging their junk at you, while dropping fabulous passengers off at the Arizona Memorial. Unless ITS CLEAR & OBVIOUS without having to be omniscient, your stupid $200 ticket won't hold up in court because it's not a real thing. You literally can't make laws that don't exist so you can feel important. Get over yourself and save us all the trouble of having to deal with your sorry ass. Plus, All your co-workers know who you are. You're THAT guy. They guy who makes a mountain out of a mole hill! I'm so sick of people like you. Please go fly a kite in a lightning storm! You don't need to take a tour of Pearl Harbor! You will be wasting money. You can drive there with your rental car. They have a parking lot. Go early to find a spot. If you can't find a spot. Park at the stadium and take uber. BRING A CLEAR PURSE or wear cargo shorts. no bags allowed!!! When you get there, you can buy a tickets to tour whatever you want. Tickets to take a boat out to see the USS Arizona are FREE but you have to go Ask for them and they will have a set time on them. You can only go at that time. There is a movie followed by a narrated boat ride. the Bowfin submarine is right next to where you buy tickets. Then you can hop on a shuttle bus (which is a large air conditioned charter bus) and go to Ford Island to see the USS Missouri battleship and the hangars. When you are on the Missouri they will tell you it takes two hours. We took the short guided tour with Javon to see the guns, and the decks where WWII ended. That tour lasted 15 minutes. After that we were done. We did not feel like we needed to spend two hours on that ship. There is a hot dog and shaved ice stand at the Missouri. We ate there and took the shuttle bus back to the main office and then went on the Arizona tour. It took us 3 hours total to visit Pearl Harbor and to see the Missouri and Arizona. I have two teenage girls and they would not have wanted to spend all day here. For $10 you can buy a box of chocolates for a veteran who is visiting Pearl Harbor that day. I thought that was wonderful. A very sacred and important place to visit to honor those who served our country. they have restrooms and a few hot dog and hamburger stands. read more

On that fateful morning of December 7th, 1941, many Americans gave their lives in service for their country during what would be recalled as one of the most devastating attacks on American soil, here at Pearl Harbor. The memorial, itself, captures the true starkness and sadness of war. The fact that the USS Arizona, which remains sunken in the shallow harbor and is now dedicated as a resting place and cemetery of 1,102 Navy sailors and Marines, brings such respect and admiration to those who have sacrificed so much to make America what it is today. Truthfully, for myself, it was a very humbling, yet a surreal experience being able to stand above the exact ship that brought America into WWII. I'm glad I was able to visit Pearl Harbor and have since become more appreciate of life because of such exposure. I truly recommend visiting this historical monument as respect in honoring our brave military forces whenever visiting Honolulu. You will more than likely leave as a different person, one with inspiration to live life with perseverance and determination no matter what circumstances may present itself. read more

Must see! We spent a whole day here. I didn't think it would be that long, but it was interesting and so much to see. The Arizona was amazing. The video they show before really told a lot and it was pretty sad. Then they took us to the memorial. It was sad to see all those that died on the wall and to hear how there are still men in the ship below. The oil is still leaking from it and you can see it. The Bowfin was interesting to see how small living quarters was. And it was neat to actually be on a submarine. The aviation museum was just ok for me. I would of skipped it and been ok with that. The USS Missouri was really interesting. It's a huge ship and took awhile to see the whole thing. If you are visiting Oahu, Pearl Harbor is a place that you should visit! read more

I love home but its so hard getting east of pearl city with all the tourists and traffic. After 4 days of continuously going back to see the Arizona for a friend in town, they finally told us that passes for the Arizona were gone for a couple of weeks. After a tank full of gas, a total of 4 hours in traffic all days put together (pothole fixing on the H1 freeway), we never got to let our friend visit the Arizona Memorial. Very sad, very disssatisfied. Even though I live here, I plan on letting my visitors google it and watch the youtube so we dont have to fight for parking or ever feel totally dissatisfied EVER again. Today definitely showed me going east of Pearl City is now a hazard and all day event. read more

This monument is rich in American history. As an American, it is your duty to visit this place if you ever come to Oahu. You get free tickets to the Arizona Memorial if your military and great discounted rates for the battleship and submarine tour. The visiting center itself has a lot of monuments from old radars to blood and oiled soaked uniforms from the tragic day. It goes into the background of World War II, and how from the economy of our neighboring countries to the sanctions we imposed that in result, built tensions amongst Japan. Awesome audio tour of the museum if your interested in those things. Definitely a site to see. read more

Grounds were not well kept, grass and shrubs overgrown. Creepy security guard 'ranger' in shorts inappropriately touched both my wife and daughter to 'check the size of their bags'. I wanted to knock his amber blade glasses off but didn't want to disrespect the memory of those sailors and soldiers who died in WWII. As to the program, seemed a bit one sided from my Aussie perspective - after all, didn't the U.S. drop nuclear bombs on Japan killing hundreds of thousands of civilians in retaliation for Japan attacking these military targets? read more

The most surreal place I've ever been. The kids around seemed to be less interested, but its the age factor. Very organized. Not a lot of time on memorial, 15 mins at most. Well worth every minute of it. Book online through a tour company or get tickets early. Don't wait to buy tickets. No bags allowed. It is a place to pay your respect, I brought a lei to lay down. When you visit Pearl Harbor, I recommend you to visit Arizona Memorial, Bowfin Museum, and spend some time at the Waterfront Memorial Park. I love this open space Memorial Park with a lot of benches.
