This place is amazing! It's a must whenever I visit hawaii. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. You have to have a reservation OR show up really early (7am) and hope to get a walk in ticket. $25 entrance fee and the park closes at 2:30pm. It's a beautiful beach and the snorkeling experience was so much fun. Beautiful reefs and fish. I'm grateful they do what they can to preserve and protect the environment but people were still stepping on the reefs so please if you go, don't step on the reefs, use sunscreen that won't affect the sea life and do not shampoo yourself in the showers that drain into the ocean and hopefully we can enjoy this beautiful place for many more years to come! read more

I have never used this tour company. And this is NOT a narrative on their service. It IS a opinion on the continued tourism of Hanauma Bay. My husband and I visited the Bay in 2025, after 25 years. In an hour, I left in tears and ashamed, after we saw maybe 10 fish, and nothing but dead coral. It is tragic. When we asked employees about the erosion, we were told the Bay is still open to educate people. No. The Bay should only be open for education and to provide evidence of overuse, NOT for swimming or snorkeling. Pricey rentals~ so if you can bring your own snorkels AND fins, do so! The coral and reef are VERY rocky, so fins are strongly suggested. Snorkeling is one of our favorite family excursions in Honolulu. It's a great all-day excursion, I feel like we could have easily spent the entire day there. Gift shop and a snack bar are available, but they're located at the top of the site; it's a hike downhill to get to the snorkeling. Gift shop will give you a small discount if you turn in your SPF sunscreen for a more environmentally friendly sunscreen that's safer for the coral and reef. Hanauma bay is a great place to snorkel! Parking is $1 and it's $7.50 for entrance. Once you get ur ticket, you have to watch a 7 minute information video (if you come back within the next 12 months you can sign up to not watch the video again). After that you walk down the hill to get to the beach. There are public restrooms and showers down the hill. But if you wanted to buy food and drinks, it's at the entrance. It's nice that they offer goggle and fins for rent. It's $20 for both pieces. This is a great place designed for snorkeling. There's a lot cool fishes. It's also a nice place to walk around or tan on the sand. read more

This place is a must see when in Hawaii. First off the experience is humbling. The sights are just a piece of the island you won't get anywhere else. The whole journey to the spot is exactly that.. a journey. So pack light, hahaa. They do have a little cart that can take you up and down for a fee. It's a reserve so you can't bring a whole lot anyways. I suggest looking up on there sight for the specifics. The water was a clear enough to see some fishes. It wasn't always clear. The influx of people kicking up the sand makes it difficult to see at first, but venture a little further out, as far as you are comfortable of course... for me it was just a few more feet away from shore and you'll be able to see fish everywhere. We stayed within the boundaries of the buoys. The currents were easygoing. If you're not experienced in swimming, stay closer to the shores. Parking cost $1. Getting into the beach cost $7.50 per person if out of state. Then you have to wait 15-20 minutes to watch a video to go onto the beach. There is a trans that can take you down for $2.50 or you can walk down for free. The snorkel equipment cost $20 for fins, snorkel and mask. My boyfriend's first time was almost ruined because his equipment had a leak. I checked it myself and the snorkel equipment leaked into my mouth, every 5 seconds. When I went to exchange it, the guy gave me a weird look but exchanged it nonetheless. Other than that, the whole experience was fun and I'm glad we did it. Our first time snorkeling and it was nothing short of amazing! The area is beautiful and lots of fish to see. They make you watch a video about conservation and the do's and don'ts when snorkeling. Some people were annoyed but I found it very helpful. Knowing not to touch the coral was important and I'm from the Midwest so I didn't know. The only reason for 4 stars....jellyfish. There were signs so we asked how serious. We were told not really a big deal because just a few sightings but we should be ok. WRONG! Leave it to me to get stung. About 1 hour in and I felt a sharp pain in my leg. It didn't hurt so much at first but within 30 mins I was in severe pain with a really bad reaction. I know it's just nature and we are invading the space of the wildlife. Just please pay attention to signs and don't think it won't happen to you. If I could give this company a zero star rating I would. Their drivers are rude, rushed, and are in for the upsell. Example; you want to floaty for your child that's more money, If you want the Top on your snorkel that's an extra 5 dollars. When we wanted to come back, they had two vans going back. One of the women acted like she may have wanted to bring us back, the other one told her no. They have to come back at 12:15. They left us standing there and would not give us a ride back. Basically all you're paying for with this company is a ride out to hanauma bay and a ride back. I ended up paying $40 to get a ride back with a taxi. You have to pay your own admission once you're at the bay. The tour company does not cover that only the ride, and the faulty equipment. The one lady even said "I give you three snorkel's because sometimes they don't work". Worst tour in Hawaii! Loved this place! We got there as the park opened and scored a great parking spot, then we made the trek down to the beach area to begin our adventure. Unfortunately getting there too early meant no snorkel gear was available for rent yet, but we did see other folks bring their own gear and began snorkeling immediately. Once we got our gear (we opted for the full face mask which was worth it!) and began swimming we saw hundreds of species of fish including the state fish which I can't pronounce!! It was so beautiful; bay was clean, experience was mesmerizing, and if you went further out towards the left side you could catch glimpses of fish that were over 3 ft long! We booked one day prior to the excursion. The driver arrived right on time and took us to our destination efficiently....she did seem to have a lot going on but was able to handle things just fine. We upgraded our equipment for $3 each but still had everything we needed for $43 for two people.... she gave us an extra set of mask/ snorkel just in case, but everything worked just fine. We discovered Snorkel Fun through a brochure left in the hotel. We had our own snorkels and masks but needed fins and a ride, and this operation was a pretty good value! We had a great pickup. Yes, it wasn't a luxury bus, but the woman driver was prompt, upbeat, and knew all the back ways to get us there quickly! For an additional $5 you can rent an aqua belt, which I highly recommend...the reef is very high and the extra buoyancy keeps you off the rocks! We stayed about 3 hours and really, the snorkeling was awesome! For the return trip the same driver moved some of us into another van, but again, she was fully in control, prompt, and everyone got a seat home! WARNING: this is not a quick activity, plan to wait several hours. I visited on Saturday 12/12/20 and read the instructions on https:/hanaumabaystatepark.com prior to arrival. Since their website says they open at 8am, we arrived at 7:45am. When we arrived the parking lot was closed but the staff told us the park was open and the lot was closed due to covid. We then parked half a mile away in a residential neighborhood and joined the line to get in (around 75+) standing at the entrance of the parking lot. Instead of letting people into the actual parking lot where we could appropriately social distance and be in the shade, the kept the crowd near the parking lot entrance in the sun for over an hour. What made the experience worse was they would randomly let in 3 or 4 cars every 20 min into the parking lot. This was at random because there were not any cars leaving, meaning these lucky few got to skip the line that had accumulated (100+) and wait in the shaded parking lot. The (100+) people that were roasting in the sun caught on and tried to run to their cars and get in when they randomly let a few in, most (including my husband) were unsuccessful and when they pulled up the staff said only 3 at a time. Once we made it past the line at the entrance of the parking lot, we entered a new line in the actual parking lot, which they moved in groups of 30. We waited here for 45 minutes because they were letting the groups who had driven in go before us to pay and watch the safety video. When my husband asked why those had driven in got to go first, the male staff member told us it "was our choice to walk instead of drive".... my mind was completely blown. As a summary, we waited close to 3 hours in the sun to get in, while a lucky few got to bypass the line by driving in. My recommendation is to wait in the car at the lookout point near the entrance of the parking lot to wait until the staff arbitrarily let in a few cars. While the snorkeling here was amazing, I would not recommend this experience until online booking by appointment is available. Being told to stand in line in large groups is not safe, especially when the staff encourages you to get back in line while trying to socially distance. read more

This is my second time going snorkeling in Hanauma Bay and its always a blast. I could not remember the name of the company i used the first time but i found Snorkel Fun on the internet. If im not mistaken our guide/driver was Chó but don't quote me on that. She picked us up promptly at 0720 at our condominium and we were off. There was a bit of a language barrier but i understood her for the most part. Upon arrival she fitted us our snorkel gear and thank goodness she had prescription snorkel goggles. The breathing apparatus was a dry snorkel (so water wouldn't go inside if you were to go under the water). Once i got into the water the great seemed like it fit fine but i occasionally got water seeping in and it became a nuisance...but i didn't let it ruin my time at the bay. We were there for nearly 3 hours which was plenty of time. Upon getting picked up our driver took a few pictures of us over looking Hanauma Bay. My honest opinion of the snorkel gear is why I gave the company a 3 stars...but for my overall experience with snorkel fun company was a 3.5 stars. read more

This business license is expired! After writing this review, I have been harassed via text message from the company about the review and what a horrible person I am. I will post screen shots of the text messages. Worse experience ever! You get what you pay for. We tried to alert the company we were not at our hotel for pick up and thought it was taken care of. At our pick up time my phone was blowing up via text and phone calls. When I tried to explain we were attempting to get back to our hotel for the past 30 minutes via a driver, she began yelling at me. She wanted to know why I wasn't at the hotel and again I explained myself. I ended up hanging up on her. She again started texting me non stop so again I tried to explain to her. She reschedule our pick up to the next time slot. We watched this woman call a client at a hotel and the client was standing in front of her on the phone. She wouldn't allow the client in the van without a confirmation number. The client told her they were just on the phone in front of each other but she wouldn't accept that as the client being who she said she was. The driver was rude telling us to be quiet and once we got there, everything was an up sale. The equipment was poor. Water filled the 2 masks we were given and the extra mask they gave us was broken and unusable from the start. On the drive back, she began talking about knowing where illegal cock fighting was on the Island. This was the ONLY tour we booked on our trip and the same day we booked this, we had 2 fraudulent charges on our card for $400 for a tour on the Island. I can only assume it was this company since our card wasn't used for anything else except this. It forced my card to be blocked and unusable and stuck with no money on the island. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! Spend the money to go a more legitimate route. read more
