Hanauma bay is a great place to snorkel! Parking is $1 and it's $7.50 for entrance. Once you get ur ticket, you have to watch a 7 minute information video (if you come back within the next 12 months you can sign up to not watch the video again). After that you walk down the hill to get to the beach. There are public restrooms and showers down the hill. But if you wanted to buy food and drinks, it's at the entrance. It's nice that they offer goggle and fins for rent. It's $20 for both pieces. This is a great place designed for snorkeling. There's a lot cool fishes. It's also a nice place to walk around or tan on the sand.

This place is a must see when in Hawaii. First off the experience is humbling. The sights are just a piece of the island you won't get anywhere else. The whole journey to the spot is exactly that.. a journey. So pack light, hahaa. They do have a little cart that can take you up and down for a fee. It's a reserve so you can't bring a whole lot anyways. I suggest looking up on there sight for the specifics. The water was a clear enough to see some fishes. It wasn't always clear. The influx of people kicking up the sand makes it difficult to see at first, but venture a little further out, as far as you are comfortable of course... for me it was just a few more feet away from shore and you'll be able to see fish everywhere. We stayed within the boundaries of the buoys. The currents were easygoing. If you're not experienced in swimming, stay closer to the shores. The kid loved it and as adults it was one of the highlights on our trip!

Parking cost $1. Getting into the beach cost $7.50 per person if out of state. Then you have to wait 15-20 minutes to watch a video to go onto the beach. There is a trans that can take you down for $2.50 or you can walk down for free. The snorkel equipment cost $20 for fins, snorkel and mask. My boyfriend's first time was almost ruined because his equipment had a leak. I checked it myself and the snorkel equipment leaked into my mouth, every 5 seconds. When I went to exchange it, the guy gave me a weird look but exchanged it nonetheless. Other than that, the whole experience was fun and I'm glad we did it. I would recommend this place to see all the fish.

Got the basic package mainly for transportation from Waikiki. Cheaper but slower than a taxi. Probably faster and more expensive than a bus. The van was cramped but AC was fine. Rented swimming flippers too. Paid cash at drop-off. They probably don't take credit.

I was born and raised on Oahu and for 20 years I never went to Hanauma Bay. My boyfriend was visiting from California and I decided to try "tourist" things. We came to Hanauma Bay to snorkel and after a couple of hours there, it became my new favorite thing to do on Oahu. Ever time I come back home I go to Hanauma Bay. Amazing experience, I swam next to a sea turtle and tons of tropical fish. I can't believe I never did this when I was younger. Little tip, get there right before they open to get good parking and free entry. You can rent snorkel gear but I always bring my own. It's very crowded all the time but it is definitely worth it. It's also a great educational experience for young children. Please be respectful of this marine-life sanctuary when you visit :)

Our first time snorkeling and it was nothing short of amazing! The area is beautiful and lots of fish to see. They make you watch a video about conservation and the do's and don'ts when snorkeling. Some people were annoyed but I found it very helpful. Knowing not to touch the coral was important and I'm from the Midwest so I didn't know. The only reason for 4 stars....jellyfish. There were signs so we asked how serious. We were told not really a big deal because just a few sightings but we should be ok. WRONG! Leave it to me to get stung. About 1 hour in and I felt a sharp pain in my leg. It didn't hurt so much at first but within 30 mins I was in severe pain with a really bad reaction. I know it's just nature and we are invading the space of the wildlife. Just please pay attention to signs and don't think it won't happen to you. I would love to go back while the jellyfish are away...

Great snorkeling. That have a little snack bar up top for food and drinksj no adult beverages there. Very family-friendly I would say take a picnic with you. We took a Cab there from our Waikiki Hotel, and took the bus back wish we would've taken the bus round-trip was very quick and easy goes right there

I only had time to stop at the look out area, but it's a must see! Beautiful views of the bay. Wish I had time to snorkel, maybe next time!

Hanauma Bay is great place to snorkel! All types of sea life out here. Great coral to swim by. Rather your young or...well...not so young, these waters are easy to navigate! You'll have a great time regardless. $1.00 to park $7.50 to enter but you can re-enter all day. Also, there's a small video you must watch before taking the 3 minute walk down the hill to the beach! Restrooms near the beach as well!

I had a blast They were great, they picked me up directly my hotel and just made everything easier. They even provided extra equipment just in case. They are awesome and super nice! I would definitely recommend, especially since the price wasn't bad!

Loved this place! We got there as the park opened and scored a great parking spot, then we made the trek down to the beach area to begin our adventure. Unfortunately getting there too early meant no snorkel gear was available for rent yet, but we did see other folks bring their own gear and began snorkeling immediately. Once we got our gear (we opted for the full face mask which was worth it!) and began swimming we saw hundreds of species of fish including the state fish which I can't pronounce!! It was so beautiful; bay was clean, experience was mesmerizing, and if you went further out towards the left side you could catch glimpses of fish that were over 3 ft long! Would highly recommend for those interested in snorkeling near Waikiki in a beautiful cove with amazing views!

The biggest highlights for us were the Byodo-In Temple and the Dole Plantation. Some of the stops didn't quite meet our expectations, but for the price (especially with the discount), it was well worth it. However, the real heartbeat of the tour wasn't even the sites--it was Neo and Ryan. They are incredibly knowledgeable about the island, and their presentation was filled with heartwarming honesty, real facts, and no sugar-coating. They made sure to include everyone in the conversation, which showed such genuine care for the guests. We absolutely loved them and would tour with them again on any other adventures. We found the Living Ocean Tours Turtle Canyon experience through Viator and paid about $80/person which we felt was incredibly reasonable. This was honestly a pro tip as we were not only one of three small groups on the boat, but were also the first boat out to the canyon making the experience feel intimate and memorable! We met the amazing crew who were so knowledgable, friendly, and safety-savvy. The ride itself took about 15 minutes each way. Once we arrived, we felt totally confident swimming out with the provided snorkels, life jackets, and flippers after completing the safety lecture. The crew also emphasized protection of wildlife, instructing us to do our very best to stay 10 ft away or more from the turtles. At times, the turtles would come close to us without our knowledge, so we were also instructed on how to gently swim away when this occurred to maintain safe distance. We spent about an hour and a half total in the water, which was more than enough time to see loads of turtles. When it was time to return, we enjoyed complimentary snacks and drinks on the boat.
