The outside needs a renovation terribly so my first impression wasn't all that good. The food tasted fresh and good. The service was friendly and has a home town feeling. I felt like it was delicious in the moment but then felt bad and had heartburn all day and night which is super rare for me so I'm not sure if it was what I ate or if it was just not a great day! My friend loved it and frequents this place but I most likely won't be back especially since I had driven from out of town to try it. read more

Pearl House is unusual. Looks run-down but is spotless inside. We had several items, including a sushi roll, egg-drop soup, cheese wontons (similar to Rangoon fried pastry-noodles), a Chinese type sautéed shrimp-veggie dish, tea, & items like fried rolls. Nothing bad, much better than other nearby places. Waitstaff extremely nice & responsive. Very quick service for a non-cafeteria, cook-to-order restaurant. Don't let the outside appearance deter you. Offerings are sort of non-West Coast generic Asian place with some Japanese style items. We'll add this to the "once a month" list of suppertime. If you are here, this place is worth a visit. I have no idea why it took me so long to try this place. The food is very tasty. The service is great and you can watch them prep your order. I went on a date night with my ten year old, he likes trying new places when it is just him and I. He ordered couple sushi rolls and I got teriyaki hibachi. Food is average at best. Chicken wasn't really cooked well. Felt kinda raw. Not a lot of options outside of the basics. Over priced for Chinese as well. The state of the building itself is also a MAJOR turn off. It looks like it's about to cave in any day. Owners need to step up their food game to compete with somewhere like Kobe's. Not a place I would have ever chosen based on the outside or location, but I trusted my fellow yelp reviewers and was NOT disappointed!! This sushi was legit! We got five different rolls and every single one was expertly crafted and promptly prepared. We were visiting from Baton Rouge where we have our pick of sushi restaurants. I would rate this sushi up to par with some of the best places in much more competitive markets. As a side note: my daughter doesn't eat sushi so she got low mein noodles and egg drop soup. This is not what I expected. It's in a fairly remote location in a location in town you wouldn't expect, in a building that doesn't exactly match. However Once entering was tad surprised how eye catching and inviting it was, don't judge the book by the cover. The service was great with waitress being very assistive and suggesting rolls to try. It was refreshing to see good ole southern hospitality which seems like a myth these days. The rolls here are nothing "new" but they are fresh and extremely well presented. The Asia roll I tried was an off menu item (the waitress showed me on her tablet some "secret"off menu items, fun fun) and while 18$ it was worth every penny. To use bad analogies, Pearl House is that nice "pearl" you didn't expect. Great for the locals and definitely worth trying out. read more

Per the Yelp reviews, I decided to give this a try, even though the outside looks sketchy. I ordered the Pearl House sushi and glass of $5.00 cab. Excellent sushi! However, I didn't appreciate being charged .79 each for Sriracha & spice Mayo. Then, not being informed before hand. I assume that they don't inform you before hand because it comes off weird but so does seeing the charge on my bill. I don't reside in the general area so not worried about coming back. read more

The owner herself works the floor to ensure the satisfaction of her customers. The food is always fresh and hot and of really good quality. Wait staff is very friendly and hospitable. We went in for lunch, and it was at about half capacity but not loud. We were thrilled to see potstickers on the menu and ordered those right away. We got drinks and looked at the menu for a bit. I got moo goo gai pan, daughter beef and broccoli. In a very short time, the waitress approached with one plate. Appetizer, right? Nope. My dish. Waitress said, when asked, that pot stickers take a while. ???? Of course I waited the few min for my daughter's dish to appear. For a lunch menu, the serving sizes were appropriate. I would have liked more celery in mine, but things were tasty. When the potstickers arrived, they were flavorful. I think this was more the fault of the kitchen, but appetizers should come first. I have passed this place several times when going into New Iberia. Always wanted to try it it never stopped. So I decided to order off of Waitr for lunch. It was soooo delicious! I had the steamed potstickers as an appetizer along with peppered tuna and a spicy roll. It was soooo good. The peppered tuna was just the right amount of heat! SOOOO FRESH AND SO CLEAN CLEAN! When I first moved to town I saw this place on Yelp, but I couldn't find it while driving around. Now that I've been here for a while I had drove by a few times. Finally after jumping on here for lunch to find a new spot I saw the rating and thought I should give it a shot. All I have to say is I'm sure glad I did. This place just reemphasizes that it's what's inside that counts. The outside look a bit run down, and in a part of town that is a bit off the beaten path. Once I walked in I was blown away by how nice everything was. I walked past the fish tank and the open kitchen in the front that was quite a surprise walking in. As I walked to the back to meet my girlfriend I noticed how nice everything was situated and how friendly all the people were. As I sat down the first thing my girlfriend had to tell me was that they cleaned the entire place from top to bottom every Friday.I looked around and couldn't find a spot anywhere. About as clean a restaurant as I have ever been there. The food: Hot and Sour soup really wasn't Hot and Sour, but more like a mushroom soup. Although it didn't have the correct flavor that I had at other places, it was something all it's own and pretty great. The Miso Soup I didn't really care for. Seemed a bit off, but maybe it was trying it while eating the Hot and Sour. The General Tso's was awesome. That right amount of breading that is still soft and lets you taste the flavor of the sauce. Probably my second favorite General Tso's I've ever had. The fried rice was okay. I guess I'm just used to having it with meat or more egg, but I've had better. It was nice they added some fresh broccoli to the plate. Made me feel a bit healthier. In the end the sauce and freshness just blew me away. Triple Combo was BOMB! I'm glad my girlfriend never finishes her food because I devoured it. The sauce was soooo freaking awesome. Really made it stand out. You could tell all the veggies had been handcut and just prepared. The meats were all top cuts, and cooked to perfection. As much as I loved the General Tso's the Triple Combo took the top spot. This place was delicious and we received far more than expected. Searched yelp while on the road from New Orleans to Dallas and needed dinner. As others have written, it was fresh and made to order. Love the sushi, but skip the appetizers, or at least think twice. I tried the cheese wontons at my waiter's suggestion, because they are "made fresh in house."
