Signing up was super easy and entirely online, rates were reasonable (I think...I've never had a storage unit before). Access is entirely through an app on your phone. For a while my app was buggy and I had trouble getting into the unit, but then I discovered it was my phone's VPN, so once I learned to deactivate that access was no longer an issue. The place is clean, heated and well lit. There are always plenty of carts and every time I've had to talk with staff they were very friendly and helpful.

We go to the location with a Uhaul containing some equipment, and our struggles began with not even being able to get into the gate. The app is very buggy and kept saying we weren't close enough to the gate. Despite being literally pressed up against the keypad. Okay, after some trial and error we get in the gate and face another annoying locked door with a buggy keypad. I locate my unit and it is locked. While I couldn't see a physical lock on the unit, the door itself was immovable. After trying and failing we unfortunately had to leave and figure out alternate plans. I tried contacting their customer service via their chat app and was told I needed to reach out the next day during business hours. So I do that and a very rude agent tells me that since I'm trying to cancel "the day after", they won't refund me. Okay. I filed a claim with my bank. About an hour later I got a call from the site manager asking me about the situation. I explained it to her and she said she will go check on the unit. I told her I have stuff I'd like to put in there so she said great, come over and I'll meet you and help you get in. So I go and rent another uhaul, go back to the location and their office door is locked. Customer service is unavailable via phone. I tried several times to reach someone but no luck. If this is how they do business I want no parts. But I do want my money back!

Not only does it prevent me from getting sleep thanks to the "laser light show" on my closet doors (which basically function as a movie screen in this situation), it also suggests they've had trouble with break-ins. Thus, the next time I need to store my belongings I'll be looking elsewhere, despite living in such close proximity to this place. Even if I'm wrong about the crime and you just really want thieves to stay away -- please be more considerate of the residences in your vicinity, Extra Space Storage, and find a different way to deter the bad guys. I decided to contact company as they were open to my input, however, they were only able to give me a $20.00 dollar discount. So now I pay $334.75 that started in December. Gee that's still a $95.75 increase. Even the rental markets for apartments only go up 10%. I do not recommend this company as I still feel like they gouged me and took advantage. I was able to see less cost for similar storage than current pricing before I decided on Secure Space and I hope all company's don't do this. If I had known they would do this I would have chosen another, closer to me, storage unit. I feel like I'm locked in as getting stuff to storage was costly and to remove it will be also, so I guess I'm stuck. Customer service through company office is not consistent and what reflected at office is not always same as talking and securing on line. One has to follow up to guarantee pricing. I will compliment the office staff as they are sympathetic, helpful and personal and units appear secure. I'm not sure these 2 benefits are worth the $98.00 monthly increase. I do plan on getting my things removed ASAP but that's dependent on circumstances currently waiting upon. I can't wait to vacate and save $100. Per month.
