At the Pearl Vision store on Rt 22 in Springfield I arrived with a frame so badly bent in a home mishap that I thought it could not be fixed. Instead, an optometrist named Bill took a look, grabbed his tools, and in a couple of minutes handed back my glasses, good as new. When I asked him what I owed him, he said just thank me by coming back when you need your next pair! You know I will, and I would recommend that if you want to be treated with kindness, courtesy, respect, and professionalism, look up Bill at Pearl Vision, Rt 22, Springfield. The most unprofessional eye exam I've ever had with the most unprofessional staff. From waiting to be seen and paid attention to while the staff chatted amongst themselves and Dr. Jordan juggled ( I was the ONLY customer in the office), to having to do the automatic machine eye exam twice because the assistant wasn't paying attention and forgot to tell me to take out my contacts, to the doctor putting his dirty finger that smelled like cigarettes in my eye without washing his hands, I was astonished at the service I received. The entire experience was a joke and a waste of time and money. I now have to book another eye exam at another clinic because Dr. Jordan fit me with a completely wrong lens which wasn't a big deal until he tried to make ME seem like an idiot. When asked to read the letters, I only had my left eye open (the eye in question) and I told him I couldn't see anything, all I saw was light, and he said "NO. Read it with both eyes." Really? What good does that do if I can't see out of one of my eyes? I'm there to get my eye sight corrected, not questioned. He finally picked out another lens, telling me his staff put it in the wrong place. But even so, the second lens he gave still didn't correct my vision. Complete. waste. Wonderful, professional expert care by Dr. Jordan Nissinoff & Staff This was the best experience I have ever had at any eye doctor's office, including the specialist I go to in New York City. Dr. Nissinoff, took the time to explain medications, recommendations and carefully and gently examine and fit my eyes for contacts. I found this office through insurance. Terrible experience! I would recommend everyone stay far away from this place. Dr. Jordan Nissinoff should not be in a field where he is meant to provide a service and help people. He tries to push you into contact lenses that he obviously gets push back from if he sells. He was extremely rude to me and rushed through my appointment after I insisted on my brand of lenses. He wrote me the wrong contact prescription. I didn't notice until I was called back to pick them up. I definitely won't be coming back. read more

Unfortunately, I did not check Yelp before coming here and I will never come again. I have been wearing glasses for years and I am used to a certain price point and type of service. When I went to my original doctor, I was told they were considered out if network with my. With my new insurance. So I tried them. I have them a 2 because I love the doctors and the retail section of the store. They were all really nice and pleasant, but everyone is when they want you to spend money. Let's fast forward to eyeglass selection. I will lose a pair of glasses before I break them So I like to keep a couple of throw aways. Their price point for nicer frames totaled to $580 (before the $200 off the frame.) I even called my insurance and checked for less expensive frames but non were there. The other place I went to had frames from designers I knew but were not as expensive. I was blown away by the super expensive price of their frames. Never before have I and never again will I pay so much. I am a business man so when you say something is ready then it has to be ready. If not I need you to tell me. My glasses had an expectation of 2 plus weeks or longer because of the holidays. Like what? At the two week mark I call and the worse part is they cannot tell me anything other than they aren't ready. In the meantime I recommended a friend to an eyeglass store I used to go to before Thai fiasco. They were able to get an appointment a week after me and got their glasses SOONER than the ten calendar day turn around the store mentioned. I came here since the other Pearle Vision I went to completely ignored me when I was glasses shopping. It took a good 10-15 minutes before a salesperson came over to assist even though they were hanging around. I knew my lenses would be super pricey because I have really bad vision (really, really, really bad - let's say my glasses look like coke bottles). I kept telling the sales associate that I don't want to overdo it on the frames because the lenses will cost me an arm and a leg. And let's be honest, I mostly wear contact lenses anyways. All their lenses seem to start at $199 or something. Nothing cheaper at like $99. Or at least none that would fit my insanely thick lenses. $250 for the frame plus about $600 for just the lenses because I needed special thinning lenses. My insurance only gave me 20% back. So it came out to be about $600 for everything. That is a lot. Especially since these lenses last only a year before my prescription inevitably changes - again. The sales associate, while really nice, was super depressing. Or was I so depressing that he just matched my mood? (Hey, who's happy forking up that kind of money for something they don't even want?) I've gone to other stores and the associates seemed more upbeat and tried to console me. I actually preferred that and they made me smile even though I'm so blind. They made me feel good about it and would work within my price range. Next time, I'm checking out options online if they're cheaper because $250 for just frames is ridiculous and honestly, I don't need name brand frames. It's not like anyone can tell if it's Burberry vs Coach vs Tiffany's! read more

TL;DR: don't go here. This store broke my glasses' lenses due to negligence and insists I pay $250 for new lenses. I took my glasses to be adjusted here and the associate cracked my both of my high index lenses by heating the frames with them still in. You can quite literally see the fractures spidering out from where she applied pressure on either lens. When I brought this to their attention, the associate freely admitted her error and stated she should have asked if the lenses were high index before heating. I was offered half off replacement lenses (totaling just over $250). I don't think this is particularly fair, given that signage in the store states they're not responsible to damage to frames when doing adjustments-- not that they're not responsible for damage to lenses. To add insult to injury, corporate has refused to help, stating the stores operate at their own discretion. I will never go here again and urge others to beware associates who don't know what they're doing and corporate/management who doesn't care. read more

The exam is fine. The doctors, in my opinion, could be more personable, however. They seem to just be going through the motions. But my main complaint is with the service desk people. This is my third visit there and all three times I challenged how much I was being charged and all three times I got an "oops. sorry about that" answer and they adjusted the invoice. At this point, I don't think they're making mistakes-- I think they're intentionally overcharging people to see if they catch it or not. If you go there, be sure you know what your insurance covers and check the invoice before you pay it. read more

I didn't get my eye exam there, but I was told they had a better selection of glasses which was true. Claude was very nice, professional and knowledgeable. He patiently helped me pick out my glasses, explained all the details of the purchase and answer all my questions. Everyone overall was friendly. I would strongly recommend it. read more

Please stay away from all Pearl Vision locations! They do not honor satisfaction guarantee to their customers. After months of going back and forth with glasses that I had for one day and returned them because I was not able to see out of them they still refused to refund my money. The Springfield location did make a correction but not to my satisfaction that I am comfortable wearing the glasses. I might add I had been a customer for double-digit years. Because the store where the original purchase was made closed due to the owner retiring and the store in Springfield, NJ was where the sales clerk relocated to and transferred the issue to that location. After 5 months the glasses have not been corrected to my satisfaction. I paid in full for the glasses 8 months ago. After filing complaints online with Pearl Vision, the entire entity refuses to refund the money. This is bad business practice even if the original store closed. Pearl Vision is still responsible but they refuse to refund my money. No one will even direct this issue to the Pearl Vision owner who retired. Based on principal I will have to sue them in small claims court! read more

Stopped in to get my glasses fitted as they were loose & kept slipping down. The lady quickly fixed them & they fit great... until I noticed that my lenses were completely destroyed. Granted, I did not purchase this pair of glasses here (I have in the past & she knew this prior to the repair), however - she claimed the "scratches were already there". These were not scratches, my left lens was completely covered in hairline fracture marks and my right lens was only slightly better. She pretty much told me there was nothing she could do so I left in tears and struggled to drive back home as I could barely see out of my glasses. Not to mention while I was waiting for the repair to be done I had to listen to the rest of the staff talk about how trashed they were the night before. I called this Perle Vision location today to inquire about getting one lens of my glasses replaced. I had them put in my last set of lenses because of their three-hour replacement, so I thought that going back to replace one might be a good idea. I was told on the phone to come in; and that they'd see what they could do. This was a lie to get me in the door. Once there, they told me they could only replace both lenses at once. "Fair enough" I thought, and I handed over my glasses to have their lenses replaced. Then I was told that my glasses were too dry to have their lenses replaced, and that I would have to buy new glasses. Like many of us, I'm dealing with leaner times than I was just a few years ago. I make ends meet, but I do it by using what I have until it's no longer good. My current frames are old, but they're very nice and well-made. I told the optometrist (who had suddenly taken over for the saleswoman when I handed over my old frames) that I could not afford to buy both new frames and new lenses. She walked me to their clearance section, which was full of off-brand, ugly frames that cost too much with their 50% off discount. She told me several of them looked much like my current Emporio Armani frames. I politely told her that they did not look like my current frames, and that I couldn't afford new frames. At this point, she tried to sell me their credit card. I walked out. The behavior of these employees was completely inexcusable. I will never shop at this location. I will never shop at a Pearle Vision. I will tell this story to anyone, anytime Pearle Vision comes up in a conversation. All human beings deserve more respect than how I was treated today. Edit: Just to confirm that they were lying to my face to get me to buy more than I needed, I'd like to post an update. A week after this review I went to a non-chain store to replace my lenses. They replaced them in my old frames perfectly. The frames and lenses have both held up for over a year now with no issues whatsoever. My frames were always capable of accepting a second pair of lenses, and Pearl Vision was just trying to bleed me dry. read more

This place was jerks. The Optician was in such a hurry to get to the next appointment; she was not helpful. They overbook their appointments so she is running like mad. The store manager talked down to a subordinate while we were being consulted for glasses frames. It felt more like they were trying to sell us a car than durable medical equipment. My daughter had a 6:30appt with a Dr Vikmar. We were stuck in traffic so I called, out of courtesy, to let them know we were going to be about 5 minutes late. The receptionist spoke to the doctor who said since we were the last appt she would NOT wait. Unbelievable especially since they typically make patients wait way more than 5-10 minutes and ALWAYS run late. I told the receptionist it was unbelievable and would NEVER return or recommend the place to anyone. We arrived here at 6:37 and I came in to find the doctor who grudgingly agreed to see my daughter. I could not recommend Pearle Vision in Springfield less. From start to finish it has been a horrible experience. The doctor was incredibly rude during my exam and wouldn't listen when I explained that the contacts he tried to push on me were uncomfortable and I preferred the brand and type I've always used. When I went to place the order for my preferred type of contacts at the end of the year, the also rude person I spoke with on the phone took all my order and credit card info and let me know I'd be alerted when the order came in ... but never actually placed the the order and I therefore lost my insurance benefit for the year. After that frustrating experience I went to order contacts online so I wouldn't have to deal with Pearle Vision again but unfortunately an element of my prescription needed to be verified by the doctor at Pearle Vision who, days later, has not responded to the request and is holding my prescription hostage for not choosing the brand of contacts he is trying to push or ordering from Pearle Vision. Trust me, save yourself the time and aggravation and DO NOT use Pearle Vision in Springfield. read more

Staff is extremely helpful on-site and over the phone. Went in because my sunglasses needed adjustments and the gentleman did it right away and was very professional. No charge, and now my sunglasses stay on. I also purchased prescription glasses there, they are always helpful and answer all questions and concerns. Very unpleasant visit and corporate wont answer emails. Made a eye exam appointment and was told I had a over due bill from 2 years ago. Insurance company told me no bill was due. Office staff was not very friendly and miss organized at best. Felt like this location was a speed vision appointment. Didn't feel like I was able to properly get a eye exam. If you want a unfriendly place to get your vision checked, then this is the place for you. Your quality of service is not the best. I would recommend going to a different location. I also was told that several appointments were made for me and they were canceled due to no show. I went for a eye exam in January, and was told 3 month follow up. Gave me said card, told me that appointment on card dose not exist. why would I have card with place of business in my hand if I did not have a appointment. Place really is not meant for quality. Very unhelpful on the sales end. Services for eye appt are helpful though. I'm looking for 2nd pair of lenses and don't get a single greeting for like 20 min. The sales attendant doesn't even notice me walking towards for help I have to hold the glasses in the air and flail my elbows to get her to notice. It's like she hardly flinch. So finally I sit down she goes over prices and says an amount way over my budget and she just lets me walk. Other places would get a TO from maybe a senior or a mgr but I guess not. Over priced and take forever to fill a prescription. We discovered my son needed glasses and $375 later we exited with nothing in hand. Next day we went to do the pick up and waited from 4:55pm till 6pm while they put the pieces together. I got a second pair at Costco for $112 and they even called when it was ready. read more

I've used Pearle Vision before but this is by far the worst experience I've ever had at Pearle. The staff is not very helpful, they took 12 days to deliver my glasses and sunglasses. WORST place I have do business with. A short story went to purchase new glasses after dog ate my existing pair. Sales person helped me with frames close to what I had ordered took two weeks after wearing for 10 days the right arm failed manufacturing defect that is what I thought brought them right back was helped by same sales person and asst manager both said it will be covered. Two weeks late went to repair glasses sat down and was TOLD please PAY $90 for new arm I refused different store manager told me she would talk to main store manager and he would contact me. He NEVER did filled complaint with Better Business Bureau and with customer service on their main page. After a week went by the store called and said there is no charge. To my surprise when I went back again they still waited the $90 until I told them off. I will NEVER go their again nor will any my family or friends. read more

I am new to Pearle Vision as I have historically gone to Lenscrafters in Watchung. Since they don't take my VSP insurance, I switched over to this Pearle Vision. The appearance of the office itself is nice and spacious. The optometrist, Dr. Kim, is efficient but not much of a communicator. It would be nice to have more information about the status of my eyes and my prescription without having to ask. The process of ordering new lenses was painless and the salesperson seemed knowledgeable. Overall, it was an okay experience and I would go back here again for the convenience. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday after breaking the nose pad off my glasses. They replaced the nose pads on my glasses and even tightened the loose frame. They did it for free even after I explained I did not purchase my glasses there and they still said "no charge" Hard to find business service like that anymore !!! read more

I visited this location while shopping for new glasses. The representative offered to clean my current pair while I browsed. When the glasses were returned to me, the anti-glare coating had been damaged and the glasses were basically unusable. It was immediately noticeable and I was even nervous about driving home. I had to pay out of pocket to get the lenses replaced as the store manager would not do anything. After 3 weeks of repeated calls I spoke to a Regional Director who informed me they have signs in the store that protect them from this. He dismissed my claims and concerns and offered no additional assistance. I would not shop at this location and would question visiting any Pearle Vision. read more

Extremely slow. Got there 15 mins early. Waited at least 45 minutes to be seen. When time to order, had to wait at least 10 minutes again. Very few patients but could not understand wait time. One lady had to leave because of the wait. If my insurance was good at Cohen's in Livingston mall - I would have gone there instead. Been going there for years and always great service.
