Had I gone solely by the reviews on Yelp, I would have not made an appointment here at Pearle Vision in Sudbury, but I am GLAD that I did decide to go. My parents had been to this location several years ago and had a pleasant experience, so I decided to go based on their recommendation. I half-expected there to be a negative encounter with off-putting staff, but this never happened. The bad reviews don't make sense to me, and I am personally writing this review to help set the record straight. My experience today was very pleasant and rated well above their average of "2.5" stars. Here's how it went: Parking, including handicapped parking, was plentiful. There is easy access to the building. No curbs or steps to navigate. The main door was a bit awkward, but the staff assisted by holding it open. Reception was very kind. I arrived about 5 minutes late, and apologized for this, but the woman there (I don't know her name. She was of Asian descent.) was very polite and she assisted me with the check-in process. From there, I went through the pre-screening eye tests. I was impressed with how advanced the technology has become since my early experience with optometry. It is so much easier. The young man performing the tests was also very kind. The set-up and layout for those tests was a bit awkward, I will say, and should probably be in a separate room, but it was fine. Next, I met with Dr. Curtin. What a gem he is. He was able to zero in on my correct prescription very quickly. No pupil dilation required. He was super efficient, personable, and didn't try to sell me on anything. He gave me a reading prescription, and a distance prescription that will be put on hold if I should decide that I need it in the future. There was no pressure. Next, I met with Katherine to pick out some frames. She was okay. She wasn't as personable as the others, but also not offensive in any way. Some of the other folks that were helping other customers with frames did seem more personable and friendly. The frames they had to select from were very high end. Brand names like Ray Ban, Gucci, Prada, Kate Spade, etc. You get the idea. They were beautiful, but there was not much variation in the selection, IMO. There were many chunky styles. Many cat-eyes. If I had the time and energy, I would have shopped for frames elsewhere to get exactly what I was looking for. I settled on a pair of RayBan plastic frames that were nice. I opted for a scratch-free coating, but didn't add anything special beyond that. No bifocals. No anti-glare, etc. To give you an idea of costs, the frame and lenses (before insurance) were $ 550. The eye exam was covered separately by my insurance. The glasses will be ready to pick-up in about a week. Simple. Never did I encounter anyone who was rude or disrespectful. They had many customers. It is a busy place. Everyone seemed happy. What else can I tell you? Don't believe everything you read. This is my honest review based on my experience today. I DO recommend this location and will be returning the next time I am due for an eye exam. read more

I walked into this optical place to replace the prescription for the existing frame. The woman who assisted me was rude and not friendly for a first time customer like me. I was put off by her unfriendly attitude. Nevertheless I was able to place a new prescription order for my glasses. Week later a gentleman gave me a call for the oder pickup. Upon walking into this optical place again, he was extremely friendly, kind and courteous. I would never go in there again for any service. First impression was the last for me. read more

Convenient location and plenty of parking. The store has many style choices but not many variations in colors. The staff are friendly. I found that this location has very limited seating so be prepared to stand if there are more than a few customers or patients. If you don't have eye Care insurance watch out and be prepared for sticker shock. One important thing to watch out for if you have group insurance with a deductible. Pearle will try to upsell you additional $40 buck optical examinations prior to actually seeing the doctor that's not covered by your deductible. They mysteriously fail to inform you that on your first appointment. Other than that annoyance they are your typical chain eye glass store. read more

I would not use this business again. They replaced lenses for me after doing a new prescription, but put the focal point on the lenses wrong ... so either my right or left eye is slightly out of focus while reading. Annoying. I called on Monday to ask for a printout of my prescription, and was told it would be waiting for me. Today (Thursday) I went to pick it up, and overheard the optometrist muttering to the receptionist "I threw it out because the guy called two weeks ago". So 1) you're wrong (I looked at my call log), 2) why the lousy attitude, and 3) lousy job on the glasses. read more

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience here! Our eye exams were quick and easy, using technology that we'd never experienced before that left us both with a better understanding of our eye health and how it changes over time (and no need for dilation!). They have a great selection of frames and have developed ways to allow you to try on as many as you like without risking anyone's health during the pandemic, and without any pressure to buy if you don't find some you like. It was easy to make an appointment on the Pearle Vision website, and they called ahead of time to find out about our insurance coverage so they could explain our benefits to us when we arrived, which they did a really great job of. Best of all, every single person in the store was BEYOND lovely--they went above and beyond to make sure we understood everything, had all of our needs met, and had a more-than-pleasant experience at the store. They even immediately fixed up both of the older pairs of glasses I'd brought in and was considering replacing so they would be more comfortable for me in the mean time. My husband and I agreed that we're both genuinely looking forward to the next time we need to come in! read more

Disgusting service. I am done with this business. I made an appointment for my annual checkup. 3 or 4 weeks prior to the appointment I received a mail asking me to either confirm through a web link or to call and confirm. The website did not allow me to confirm and showed all weekends as "not available". Upon calling, I was told that my appointment was "no longer available" and that all appointments are "tentative" until confirmed. This place is nothing but a scam. They work on commission so have all the word tracks to make you think you're getting a deal. "Oh you can't find contacts cheaper elsewhere!" Really? Do they not know something called the internet exists these days? I bought mine cheaper online. Also, the kid who rang me up over charged me for my frames. Double check all figures!! He wasn't even calculating my insurance premiums correctly. My glasses ended up being $175 cheaper buying them online without even using my insurance that they used!!! They also have a retina picture machine they use to take a pic of your eye. It's nothing but pure profit for them. I work in sales, every company has something they push on you to make money. They do not tell you before hand that it isn't covered by insurance. The whole appt lasted about 5 minutes bc they get as many people in and out to see the doctor to get on to the next phase of them shoving everything down your throat. I saved $300 by taking my prescription from them and buying the same products online. Avoid this place. Especially DOUG!! When you call and talk to manager, they don't care either. I've been a loyal customer for years. I understand with covid it's hard to get an appointment but most doctors have some reserve appointments for patients experiencing problems. I was given a date of late December. The young man on the phone didn't seem to care, it seemed he cared more about getting off the phone. I can go somewhere else and spend $400 on frames. I needed a new Optometrist so I reached out to my FB friends... I got at least 10 rave reviews for Dr. Curtain so I booked my appointment. My friends are right... what a great experience! I was greeted right away, the technician did all the requisite tests quickly and efficiently, then Dr. Curtain met with me (no waiting). He's lovely... very personable and professional. When the exam was done, he introduced me to Tim to help find frames. Tim picked a perfect frame for me right off the bat (very talented!). I was out of there within an hour. I don't even want to give you guys one star. I made an appointment here a couple of weeks ago for this upcoming Saturday the 18th since they said they took my insurance United Healthcare Vison. Now come to find out I get a call stating they don't take that insurance. I hate being lied to. I specifically asked the person on the phone when I made the appointment if they took this insurance they said yes and I gave them the insurance ID and it went through. I went online just now to check the hours for Pearle Vision in Sudbury and happened to notice the negative Yelp reviews. I feel compelled to offer my own completely positive review. My daughter picked up her glasses last week and is very happy with them. My husband is very satisfied with his experience as well. Many of the same staff that were there two years ago are still there, and the person who took care of me recognized me when I walked in two years later. We find this business to be friendly and very knowledgeable. Check them out; I hope you have the same good experience we have had. read more

I recently was on a road trip out of state when an eye glass lens popped out, not good!!! Blind as a bat, the first thing I did was to call Pearle Vision as I bought a pair of frames from them, was treated so kindly, as they put my old lenses into the new frames. I got an appointment right away and the Doctor was excellent, as I wear mono vision glasses, and had trouble for a while seeing, he immediately found my right eye was incorrect from a dr. in Boston..What a difference.. Even better, I got a back up pair of frames and they had to repair my original frame and two new sets of lenses. The optician, Frank was outstanding, I kept them at closing, he was so helpful and customer service outstanding...No more trips into Boston for me,,, I found a great place, with far superior expertise... I had a really unpleasant experience with Pearle Vision in Sudbury. A little background: I had for about 10 years bought numerous pairs of glasses from Pearle in Framingham and always had great experiences. The people who worked were warm, welcoming and helpful. I recently found out that that office had closed so I looked them up online and thought I would go to the Sudbury Pearle Vision store. When I got there -- thinking that Pearle was Pearle wherever -- I requested that they pull up my prescription and they made it very clear that they had NO relationship to the F'ham store which they pointedly told me had closed 3 years ago. As if I was someone a bad person because I did not know that earlier. I asked the gentleman to help me -- I needed a measurement that is part of the optical record. He said that that information was "gone". When I asked him to do the measurement himself -- something he could have done in less than one minute -- he refused. I was really incredulous that he would refuse to help someone who had a history of doing business with Pearle -- pretty myopic (not such a great thing for someone in the vision business). He was rude and dismissive. He not only lost a potential customer but he inspired me to write my first yelp review. Beware -- not a good place to do business with. read more

Great selection , lots of kids frames and they took my insurance discounts too. Plus it was very busy when I went with my crazy 5 and 8 year old boys to pick out a frame so we had to wait a few minutes to be helped. Very hard to corral kids in a small store. I loved that they were not mean when my son knocked over an entire tray of frames! As good a shopping experience as one could have with two kids in tow. read more

I was referred to this location to find my first pair of glasses. Before I get into the nightmare experience definitely compare prices yourself online, I discovered after I could've not gone thru Pearle or even insurance and I could've saved $20 by ordering the same exact frames and lenses from a different site online. I was told my frames would arrive within 10 days; I gave it exactly 2 weeks then I called in every few days and was lied to on multiple occasions just so they wouldn't process my refund. I was told later that day or the next day "at the latest." IVE gotten order from Wish.com quicker and I'm guessing that's where they ordered these frames from. So after getting the run around they finally arrived 3.5 weeks later... just a little late but it was the constant lies that had me worked up. Then I go in to finally pick them up and it wasn't what I ordered!!!! Apparently the salesman had to just put in a "generic model number" and that's what came. They were obviously a cheaper model and looked nothing like what I ordered. After going back yet again they just handed me the ones I ordered off their shelf which is extremely unprofessional but that was the least of my problems even still. The case broke the first week; also the behind the ear piece fell off on the frames the week after. Luckily it lasted a month before the joint screw gave out as well. So $850 later after being lied to and handed a display model I'm using superglue just to keep everything together... I haven't even had them for 2 months. I tried going to a different PearleVision but they can't help because it's a franchise location and they're all disconnected from each other. A clear for-profit company that doesn't care about you just your money. Stay away from PearleVision and especially this awful location. read more

Was told they would bill my primary insurance and secondary but they only billed my primary insurance.Called pearl vision to inquire about the bill and JAKE refused to help me.He was very disrespectful to me and told me that he would not look into the matter. Asked him for the customer service phone number for pearl vision he refused to give it to me and told me to look it up myself. I asked to speak with the store manager but told me no. Contacted store again talked to another sales lady basically the same attitude. Save yourself some aggravation and go else where. This store is not customer friendly. Did purchase a pair of glasses through lens crafter in Natick. Ray bans were much cheaper there and the customer service was outstanding.
