After legal advice I gathered more information. My wife paid $440 for future use, apparently at a reduced rate. No papers were signed, no gift cards involved, no restrictions, clean and simple. I have been going to European Wax Center Frederick for over a year and never had a bad experience until now. Today, I asked Henna just two or three simple questions about whether my service was properly done, and her response completely shocked me. She said, "You haven't booked for it and I don't have time now, I will leave." Who talks to a customer like that? This is not only unprofessional but also very disrespectful. regular old bikini wax - was hoping to get in and out quickly. Well I did, because apparently a bikini wax is "to the crease line," but not including the actual crease line. This was explained to me as if I hadn't been getting bikini waxes for 20 years and know what they should look like. And this waxer has been doing this for a year according to the front desk? So now I have to go somewhere else to get it properly done. The girl was very nice, But apparently does not know how to give a finger width over the crease line for grace. When I commented and asked about this, I was told any further would be an up charge. Why bother at all. read more

I had an appointment at 2:45 today, a Sunday. I showed up and the doors were locked and there were two other women also waiting that had appointments. We all called many times and no answer. I waited a while and at least two other women also showed up to their appointments and the door was still locked. I ended up leaving at 3:30 and there were still no employees there. This is the second time I have witnessed this happen at this Frederick location. I normally go to Leesburg or other locations, and I have never had any issues. So I've been coming here since they opened and honestly it's been a frustrating experience all around not once, not twice, but three times they have same day cancelled on me only hours before my appointment. Two of those cancellations happened before covid was a thing. I don't ask for a specific water so they could literally schedule me with anyone else. I've read similar reviews. The technique this place uses for waxing is to basically get as much hair as you possibly can with one strip and get the person out the door. Get them in, get them out - pain is not a factor. While I can appreciate expediency and fast service, some things take time. More *ahem* intimate waxing is incredibly painful when done in this manner. I have never, ever, experienced this approach at any other waxing studio before. While I don't get them regularly, all other techs I've seen do smaller sections to help the process and the pain. The tech used a total of 8 strips for a Brazilian here. Are waxes painful? Yea. But they don't need to be THAT painful when done properly. If you're a first timer or don't get waxed regularly, I don't recommend this place at all unless you want to experience an incredible amount of pain and sweat like you're at the gym. Don't expect a spa experience either. You undress/dress in front of the tech and don't have a towel for even the slightest sense of modesty. I gave them two chances and never again. Response to comment posted by business: While I understand the development of wax to take off more hair faster, it doesn't make it any better when the techs have to wait for the huge layers of wax to dry constantly checking and trying to rip off when it's not hardened, causing more discomfort . Why not do this in smaller batches and then remove in smaller sections? Any other place I've been to applied a few smaller sections at the same time then by the time the application are done, the first one applied is dry and it's a cycle of removal of the other patches at that point. The tech literally kept palpating at the large wax waiting for it to dry and then tried ripping it off prematurely each time. Also, I asked for smaller patches to be done considering the amount of pain it was causing and she carried with large strips. read more

Let me start by saying that I have been a member with European Wax since 2016 and I say this with a heavy heart and I'm a firm believer of room for improvement, but this location with these wax specialist I feel that they are not training properly to the point where as a customer I'm never returning. The last two visit that I have had at this location has been by far the worse experience ever. I've known European wax to take pride in their wax specialist but now I lost all confidence. I had wax today that I schedule keep in mind the wax person I love to go to is at the Rockville location which is far for me so I go to the Frederick location and I just select whoever is available at the time that I select. This wax specialist, I requested the Brazilian and during the wax she did not count me down, or held my skin after she ripped the wax off, and when she transitioned from my vagina to my butt she did not put any soothing cream or oils she just said out your knees to your chest. I came home to my surprise I still have wax in my butt and my vagina, my skin is irritated and lm upset. So in my opinion don't waste your time coming to this location because the quality of staff is not there. Disappointed hence why they are getting 1 star! read more

This is an update to my previous 1 star rating. I was eventually contacted by the owner who communicated that she had never received any of the messages her staff or manager said they were forwarding about the incident. She was very kind to me over the phone and after getting all of the information needed to understand the situation completely, refunded my money for the visit. If everyone that I encountered at this location was like the owner (kind, honest, transparent in communication, and worked to make things right when something goes wrong), I would consider returning but since they were not, I will not return to this location for future services. read more

I came up to MD last minute and was in need of getting my nails done but most importantly my EYEBROWS. I usually go to the EWC in my hometown so I knew I'd be in good hands. I kinda freaked out when I saw this young girl was going to be my waxer. I don't like my eyebrows to be thin but I need them shaped since my arch isn't very high. Norah did a fantastic job. She discussed what she thought was best and was gentle. Honestly, my eyebrows almost looked like I was a Kardashian. I have never had such perfectly even arched eyebrows. If only she lived in my hometown, I'd always go to Norah. read more

I'd leave negative stars if I could. I love EWC but despise this location. Customer service consists of rude stuck up girls at the front desk who seem to always be on their phones or gossiping. I also continually have experiences where I leave with eyebrows that are completely uneven and mismatched in shape. It my fault for giving this location multiple chances but I don't feel like it's an unrealistic expectation to not want your eyebrows completely ruined and looking stupid after every visit. I'm a fan of European Wax Center and have been using their services for years. This particular center, however, is horrible. They have been mischarging me for 8 months now, and the owner NEVER returns my calls. I sent a certified letter requesting the $18.50 I am owed and still have heard nothing. Staff turnover is generally high at EWC, but this center takes the cake. Avoid it all costs. read more

I've been going to the Frederick European Wax Center location since they opened and have been a customer of Wax Specialist Erika since the beginning. Every time I visit I get a friendly greeting and the conversation picks up just like old friends. Erika's attention to detail to the service I am there for at each appointment is even better! I specifically only make my appointments when Erika is working. 11/10 would recommend Erica and Frederick EWC! read more

Okay so, first time waxee here ‍. Full disclosure waxing does not feel good and Aanchal straight up let me know it was going to hurt, this time anyway. Here's where it gets a tad graphic so look away..........okay you had your chance. I didn't know what to expect walking in but everything is sanitized and clean. You go to your separate room and Aanchal, because that's who you want, will tell you the ins and outs and have you get undressed from waist down and get on the table. Laying butterfly with your pants off is terrible, followed by happy baby pose which is worse. HOWEVER, the results are amazing and more importantly I was actually the most comfortable I could have been in those positions with Aanchal talking me through it. Her knowledge is fantastic and I'm so glad she came up to the Frederick location. The receptionist checking me out was friendly as could be. Tip well and tell them I sent you. You'll be in pain for a bit but im a lifetime customer already. read more

It is nice to have a spot in Frederick dedicated and specializing in waxing. That being said a lot of these ladies don't have experience in some types of wax jobs and it's a bit of trial and error or experimenting. Hopefully in a few more months they will work the kinks out and become more experienced waxers. I'll wait to see some more reviews till I venture back. read more

I can honestly say that I was highly disappointed in the experience of customer service I receive at this establishment I have been getting waxed for almost 5 years here at European Wax all over the world traveling always had the best customer service and experiences until recently moved in Frederick . The staff here is very rude and condescending especially the receptionist every single time I came in person. I got a nasty attitude, but via phone a different response or actions. Same as to be if they were racially, profiling, and being biased. I was also lied to when I made my appointment via app that they attempted to call me which they didn't. They called the wrong person so they canceled my appointment even though I verbally confirmed it via phone speaking to someone. This location particular for scheduling is a hot mess. They can never get it right. Also, one of them told me that they change the late policy from 9 minutes to 3 minutes. I was late one time by exactly 1 minute and 45 seconds and the receptionist canceled my appointment. I am never late usually always 15-20 minutes early just happened for me get off work late because an emergency incident. So after that experience, I have stopped going. They still proceed to bill me after speaking to management. Very poor customer service , receptionist should pick a different industry if their always going to be rude and passive, obvious that she hates her job or is rude to minority descents. Although I will commend the waxer I was seeing she kept on apologizing for my experiences. Waxer was nice , polite attentive and precise on detail. read more

I have had better waxing. The stylist don't know how to wax properly therefore they are still going through trial and error process. As well the wax they put on your face is not hot enough and the string part goes everywhere as the wax is still sticking to your face as you leave the place. Maybe in time they will be better trained and the wax will peel off your face easier. read more

I had an appointment this morning at 11:15am for a wax. I arrived for my appointment at 11:10am, scanned the icon on the door and waited to receive the text saying it was okay to come into the reception area. At this point I am greeted by the girl at the front desk who says "oh you were scheduled with Jordan and she went home sick so sorry!" Now given our current pandemic situation, I totally understand that people get sick and precautions need to be taken. However, waiting to inform me until I arrive at my appointment is absolutely unacceptable. I asked why no one let me know, but instead I received emails and text messages all morning reminding me of my appointment. The girl said oh our manager Kristi made the calls this morning. Well Kristi never called me to let me know that my appt was cancelled. I said ok well I actually selected any waxer I don't even know who Jordan is so can someone else just do it. Today I had my first eyebrow wax at European wax center. Nora did my eyebrow and she was amazing. I'm so picky about my eye brows and she really listened to me did exactly what I wanted her to do! Not only did she do an amazing job on my eye brows she was so nice and sweet! It's great to go to places that are not only good at what they are doing but have good customer service!
