We had Peck come out on 1/21 bc the heat went out. They had great service in the past so naturally we called them again. On 1/21, Alex Brewer came out to repair the rooftop unit. He told me that the wiring harness needed to be replaced & the plenums resealed. He came back out on 1/26 to do the work after parts came in. That afternoon the heat worked great. 1/27- the heat won't turn on in the AM. Called Peck & they sent Alex out again. He said that the red wire was broken in the wire nut from repeated testing the day prior. To be safe, he re-stripped both the red wire and white wire with new wire nuts which I appreciated. The heat worked nicely after he left. 1/28- the heat won't turn on in the AM again! Soooo,I call Peck again & they send Alex again with a more senior tech. They say it's the motherboard & replace it. At this pt, I'm skeptical but hopeful that this will be the last time they have to come out for this. I'm grateful to them for coming out multiple times w/o gripe on this issue & do the subsequent repairs free of charge. 1/28- 2/16= no issues with heat & life is toasty (mild weather). 2/15- rain comes on Sunday night. 2/16- water is leaking from the intake vent in the hallway. Odd, the roof has never leaked before even during severe winter storm over Christmas with heavy rainfall to the point of CA being in a state of emergency. Due to the coincidental timing, I felt as though I needed to call Peck again. They charge me $59. Alex comes out again & he says nope this is not a related issue from previous work. He writes that the "roof at the top end of the plenum under the shingles the sheet metal is not flush with the roofline causing a hill in the shingles which is pulling up the shingles on the sides of the plenum allowing water to get in." So the suggestion is that I call a roofer. 2/17- the rain has not let up since it 2/16 & I call a roofer to come out to emergency tarp bc the flooring has started to swell & there is ceiling damage. NRG pros go up there & tells me that this leak was caused by recent work done to the HVAC in his opinion. He said that yes he could see the flashing being lifted & that it looked recent vs just a preexisting issue. Then he also let me know that the HVAC mount is pretty crappy but he specifically checked under that to see which part of the roof was leaking. He said that it was definitely from the lifted flashing. So I make the dreaded phone call back to Peck to tell them & email them the report. Feb 18- Seth Mooney emails me back & basically says this issue was caused by faulty installation of the hvac unit 13 years ago asking me what company did the work, were permits pulled, etc. Then tells me it's best to get in touch with that company to remedy this issue. I reply that we have not had a leak until the hvac was worked on, not even during the atmospheric river in Dec & that I've had an independent roofer come out. Also, if this hvac was improperly installed, why hadn't someone from Peck told me after 4 visits to the unit? As a reputable company, I would expect a technician to notice during one of those visits. I looked back at all the invoices & it was never mentioned. Seth acknowledged that they had not noticed the issue at the time & apologized for failing to mention it. Then offered a $150 credit to help with the cost of getting a crane to lift the system & re install the system! What kind of joke is this?! (Full disclosure: this home is a rental & i have tenants currently living in it) $150 is supposed to make up for the fact that now I have to get the flooring redone, ceiling patched up, mitigation out to make sure it's safe, roof patched up, & hvac unit remounted ?!!!?? I have always thought of Peck as being a company with integrity & just a great family owed business. I recommended them to neighbors & friends over the years. The way they write back very dodgy emails that deflect blame just sours any previous positive interaction I've had. Also, every time I call Seth or a service manager is conveniently out of office. Very pleased with Peck Heating & Air! We replaced our system with a fully electric heat pump a couple of months ago. After collecting quotes from several companies in the area, Peck came back the cheapest so we decided to go with them. John was a wealth of information and knew all about the various rebates available for upgrading the system (one of the other companies we reached out to didn't have any idea about either the SMUD or the state-wide rebate available for heat pump installation). He also listened to any concerns we had and updated our quote accordingly to make sure that we would be happy with both the system we were installing and the price. For installation, they were able to get us on the schedule quickly. We have been very happy with our new system. We did have one issue where the AC unit suddenly stopped working. We contacted Peck in the evening about the issue. They called us back first thing in the morning the next day and had John back out to fix the issue that day. No charge and a quick fix. I rent through a property management company which had peck heating come out to replace the insulation on 2, 2-foot sections of copper pipe as well as splice in a new low voltage wire approx 2-3 feet long. All was easily accessible outside and took no more than 30 minutes to complete. They charges 450 dollars, which the property management passed on to me due to my dog causing the damage. When I called to ask why the cost was so high for what amounts to 50 dollars max in supplies and 30 minutes of work, the front office woman got snotty and told me that she couldn't talk to me about pricing, only the property management company. read more

Scammers. My property management had called them to fix the Ac. They charged $1250 for a new OEM board which I am sure it didn't need to be replaced. And then tried to say that all of our thermostats need to be replaced for $1450. So I called another vendor and guess what? None of our thermostats needed to be replaced. They just needed some cleaning. So I'm pretty sure we didn't need a new OEM board and if so not for that price. read more

I would want to go to sleep at night knowing that I was ethical, reliable, and honest, even if it meant not necessarily maximizing my profit on every job. I think the owners of Peck Heating & Air Conditioning follow the same mantra. My 10 year-old HVAC started failing on a hot summer Saturday -- the compressor seemed fine, but the blower wasn't firing up. I checked around, and saw numerous glowing reviews from Nextdoor, Yelp, and Google. I sent them an email on Saturday night, realizing that they wouldn't be able to get back to me until Monday, and thinking that they would probably be so booked at this peak season that they probably couldn't send someone out until later in the week. Well, I got called at 9AM on the dot, asking if I was available to have a tech take a look. Sweltering from 2 nights of 90-degree heat, I eagerly said "Yes!". I got a call later from one of their techs, Randy, who showed up right on time. I let him into my attic to check out the HVAC. A model of efficiency and honesty, Randy identified the problem right away (blower was drawing too much current, and shutting down), made a call, and told me he could have the part ordered and installed the following day. I am sitting here, typing this in a room that is a comfortable 78 degrees. A mere 24 hours ago, it was 90. I can't tell you how ecstatic I (and my family, and cats!) are to have functional A/C again. Throughout the process, Randy gave me some pointers on how to maximize the utility of my A/C, and we had a great discussion on the benefits of whole-house fans, too. Have been a Peck customer for two houses and 25 years. They have always been great to deal with. We have the twice yearly maintenance check plan. They come in the spring to make sure the A/C is ready for the summer and come back in October to make sure the furnace is ready for the winter. Our unit is a Rheem and 3 1/2 years old. The Peck tech that generally services our unit, John was here in June. A few weeks back Pamela at the office called to set up an appointment. I've trusted Peck to fix my heater a couple times over the years, and they're always kind, helpful, and honest. My upstairs heater wasn't working the day before Thanksgiving, so I made an appointment for today (Black Friday). When I got the notice that they were on their way, I tried it one last time and low and behold, it works now! I told them when they arrived, and asked if they'd charge me for the trip - they insisted on not charging me even though they already drove here and were standing on my doorstep with a ladder. I heard through word of mouth that Peck was a great family owned business, so I emailed them through their website to set up an appointment for the next week. I didn't think I would get a response until Monday, however, I received an email back the same day, saying that someone would be out Monday morning to look at it and give an estimate. The technician came out and determined it was a rusted out coil due to improper drainage in the initial installation (done by another HVAC contractor). Two days later they were at my house with two technicians installing the new evaporator coil. They were efficient, clean and friendly. It has been almost six months without any issue. I'm writing another review for PECK given my most recent service experience. Previous to calling PECK I had an energy efficiency service completed through a local company (recommended by PG&E). Unfortunately, shortly after they completed the efficiency service I tried to run my A/C and there were issues--my upstairs A/C was no longer working. Unbeknownst to me the energy efficiency technician knocked a wire into my Damper Motor causing it to lock in an open position. I called PECK during the peak of the season. Initially the technician (Mike C.) thought the (costly) Damper Motor had burned out and would have to be replaced. Instead of just replacing the motor, Mike appropriately re-capped the wires & tested out the old motor. To my great relief Mike was able to save our Damper Motor. I will not let anyone, but PECK, to access our A/C unit again! read more

We've used Peck Heating & Air at our office in Roseville and really trust their service recommendations. I recently had them inspect my home A/C because it was struggling. Trey, the service technician, was on time, polite, and informative. Before he did the repair he explained what could be the problem and all the possible outcomes and fees. He thought there could be a leak because the Freon is a closed system and it was low. It was going to be a costly repair with the Freon and dye. Luckily, Trey came back to me nearly excited that it only took 3 lbs of Freon and told me that 3 lbs for a 13 year old unit is just normal wear and tear. No dye was used and the total repair and cleaning/tune-up was less than $400. I highly recommend Peck for all heating and A/C services. read more

NOT 420 FRIENDLY! The owner is a liar and a scammer. They poorly installed a drip pan for a heater flooded the whole ceiling and then they sent some Yahoo to fix it it was all amateur hour. They sold me an expensive zone system and it didn't do anything they said it would. I had a more detailed review saying how awful he really is but he cried and got it taken down I would go somewhere where someone has a better reputation. You have been warned. read more

He explained the situation clearly and let us know that a part needed to be ordered but with the inclement weather and the COVID 19 supply chain issues that it will be delayed. I can't say how much I wish I'd never done business with Peck Heating and Air. When we built our house we got several bids, Peck's was in the middle somewhere and the person I worked with was friendly and helpful, when our first choice was too busy we chose Peck. Problems started when we got a surprise rain during construction, the workers hadn't sealed the unterminated ducts in the crawl space and they got water in them, they all had to be replaced. To their credit they redid the work without complaint, but it slowed our schedule considerably as the floor was closed up and the crawl space was difficult to work in. Next was the condenser drain for the downstairs forced air unit in the crawl space, to make a long story short it caused the unit to run erratically. When I called Peck for service the guy came by and said it was a thermostat problem, he played with it and then couldn't reproduce the problem, declaring it fixed (and charging me). When the problem soon returned Peck refused to come out saying they no longer serviced our part of town (getting angry and calling back repeatedly didn't help). I called another HVAC company, their technician replaced a vent fan and had it working for a while. In the end the problem turned out to be the drain, which caused moisture to back up and corrode the unit's core (several different companies had the same diagnosis). We had to replace the entire forced air unit at a cost of over $20,000 (it was quieter and more efficient, so we could have gotten by for maybe $15K!). Other duct work was poorly hung in the crawl space causing it to crimp, our library was always cold until we crawled under the house to fix these issues. Then another doozie, we have a separate FAU for the upstairs, even though it has plenty of air, one room was always hot in the summer and cold in the winter, there was very little air coming through the vent. Our attic space is difficult to explore so we could never figure out what the problem was (and Peck wouldn't come out). Finally we got a camera that can feed down through tight spaces, we followed the vent and found they routed it between two beams and squeezed a 10 or 12" duct down to a couple inches, there's no way for us to fix that vent. We're going to run a duct through another part of the attic and cut another vent into an adjacent wall, this won't be easy or cheap. There are other issues with vent and return placement, but I'll stop. It all comes down to people, some care and do good work, some don't; our Peck designers and installers failed us, and their service team just abandoned us. As mentioned this has caused is much discomfort, work, and tens of thousands of dollars. I would not do business with Peck Heating and Air. read more

Peck Heating and Air Conditioning did a fast and professional install of a Rheem AC and furnace, as well as a whole house fan. Raymond did the install and he was efficient and knowledgeable. Vincent installed an Ecobee thermostat which I can monitor with my IPhone. Juan was here also, cleaning my ducting. They all went above board in their service to me. No one wasting any time. They were here when they said they would be. The office staff was helpful and polite at all times. Previously Seth came out and helped us with determining how to vent the whole house fan. The service man arrived as scheduled and diagnosed the problem. He was very knowledgeable. He did not have a motor and said he would get one and be back the next day. He said this would cost $870.00. I said ok. The next day he installed the new motor and new capacitor. The unit worked great. I am not complaining about the work, but the price. I went on Ebay and the motor was $160.00 and the capacitor was $14.00. He was here maybe a hour. How does $174.00 plus a hours labor add up to $870.00. This was a complete rip off. read more

Recently my AC unit was tested by a well known Sacramento Heating and AC business. I was informed that my AC unit would required $3396.00 of repair. Whew! My AC unit is a 2004 American Standard. I looked up American Standard on the internet and looked for "dealer in your area." American Standard recommended Peck Heating and Air Conditioning. I called Peck and they had a technician at my house in 48 hours. Oleg was the Peck technician who visited my house. He looked at my AC unit and was concerned about what had recently been done to my unit. He was suspicious that the leads had been reversed on a capacitor to make it appear that the unit was functioning poorly. He replaced the capacitor and had my AC unit running perfectly. Total cost was $142.00 for the new capacitor and $89.00 dollars for the service call. Total repair $237.00! I am so pleased by the timely service from Peck. Next I am extremely pleased with the honesty and concern that Oleg expressed for my AC system and his concern in doing the right repair. Five stars and highly recommended! read more
