We own three Pedego's and will probably purchase a fourth when our youngest is old enough. If you are considering getting an ebike, do it from here. We've had flat tires repaired by them, break adjustments, annual tune ups, etc. It is a great piece of mind knowing that your son is riding a well maintained ebike, and if something goes wrong, you can drop it off, and they'll fix it up right. read more

I didn't rent a bike from here today but I have to share the amazing customer service I received today. We rented e-bikes in Carlsbad and rose to Solana Beach when my battery died. It was fate that it happened right outside of this shop. We asked the gentlemen if he could charge the battery a little for me so we can get back to town. Very impressed with the customer service! Our first visit. Angel was so knowledgeable and professional. Thrilled with the results of their bike repairs and overall tuneups. Tuneups usually mean adjust shifters and maybe a few other things in my past experience. This tune up included checking all the mechanical moving parts plus cleaning the chain. For 12 years I've criss-crossed Southern California for work. Meetings in Coachella, Indio, Costa Mesa, you name it. But just last week my company transitioned me into an exciting new role - office based - and not too far from home! After sitting in traffic hell for so long, I knew the time was right to transition to an ebike! My Aunt has had a Pedego for years, and I asked her what she thought of it. She said she loved it - but rarely got the chance to use it! She said, 'Don't buy a new one, honey! Just get mine a tune up and you can use it for the next 3 years till I retire.' HOLY MOLY! What a golden opportunity! I picked up the bike last weekend and brought it to Pedego Solana Beach/Del Mar. It had sat in Auntie's garage for about the past six years. I wasn't sure if the battery still worked, and both tires looked pretty bad. Jim Noonan, 'Manager of Fun' said he'd get the tire situation taken care of and do a thorough diagnostic. The next day Jim called with good news - I just needed new innertubes/liners and the battery was in excellent shape! He said I struck the jackpot with this bike! Doug, the owner of the shop helped me with some much needed safety features for commuting: a side mirror, roomy basket, lock, front/rear lights, and a shiny red helmet. He even put it all on the bike for me so I didn't have to fiddle around. The cheerful gal at the front desk (sorry I didn't get your name!) also kindly dusted the bike off. (I hear she does a good bike detail and will have her help with that next time!) Then Jim had me practice getting the battery on/off the bike (on the 1st gen Pedegos it can take a little muscle) and we went outside so he could teach me how to use all the features. All in all, Jim and Doug spent probably 2 hours getting me acquainted with the Pedego and getting things all set up! It was awesome to have their help and expertise. And, Jim went the extra mile and helped me get it in my car. (Not an easy feat, as the first gen Pedegos have wide handlebars and weigh about 60 lbs!) It took us about 15 minutes to wedge it in my CR-V but we got it! That afternoon I did a practice run to the office and avid road biker Chun P. came along to help me with my route. He's got a lot of muscle, but I felt bad when I hit the throttle and left him in the dust while coming up Genesee! - Sorry babe! Today was my first day commuting to the office and it was exhilarating! It felt FAN FREAKING TASTIC to be out of traffic hell and enjoying the sunshine! The hills of UTC were no match for the Pedego. So many people buy their eBikes online. They don't realize the support, service and maintenance issues they might encounter down the road. Pedego bikes are much better with things like hydraulic disc brakes vs mechanical, aluminum vs steel frames, etc. What is most important is the professional assembly and after sales support and parts availability. Good service and a range of bikes all decently priced! The employee who helped me was very thorough with getting me situated with the electric bike and made sure I knew how to ride it before going. Only issue was the helmet straps were incorrectly set up before I was given the helmet so I had to stop several times during my bike ride to stop as it kept falling off even though it was fit correctly. My boyfriend and I soon realized the straps were all messed up so we had to undo them and put them back on into its strap holders. Also there was a Groupon which we weren't aware of until we had already paid full price. read more

We rented bikes for a whole day, we called ahead to reserve for 6, one tandem bike. I would definitely recommend calling ahead to reserve. Most of the bikes were brand new that we got to enjoy, since they were just opening back up for rentals. Tandem bikes are rare to come by, and they don't go as far. They gave us a tutorial on how to use them, and offered helmets and water for anyone wanting them. The bikes have small baskets, which is really nice, and you're able to see how much battery you have left. The bikes have pretty long range- we biked 30+ miles and made several stops. The bike shop also does repairs. My only complaint is that the person ringing us up was a little bit rude about splitting the payment. We were considering using 2 cards to pay but he really made it difficult as it seemed like he didn't want to do more work than necessary. Wish it was a little bit friendlier of an experience, as the all-day rentals are not cheap! Other than that, it was a great experience and one of the highlights of our trip! Drove down from LA for the day and rented the pedal-assist bikes. We were given a short tutorial on how to use the bikes in the parking lot before setting off onto the streets. The bikes were pretty easy to get the hang of. Staff were very nice and helpful, providing bike helmets and water with the rental. We rode about 30 miles round trip from Solana Beach to Carlsbad Village over the course of about 4.5 hours (including some stops). The bikes are so much fun to ride! After having that throttle to get me started at each stop sign/traffic light, I don't know how I'll ever go back to riding a regular bike!! You can use the pedal-assist as much or as little as you want, depending on how much of a workout you want to get. I used it a fair amount at the lower speeds (1-3) throughout the ride and still had 4 out of 5 charge bars remaining on the bike when we were done. It's a gorgeous route to travel and there are a lot of places to stop along the way (restaurants, shops, etc). We rode along the 101 the whole way. In some areas there is a dedicated bike lane and in other areas there are just signs indicating to car traffic that bikes are allowed to use the right lane. You do need to pay attention and be careful as on a busy day there are a lot of cars parking/backing out/stopping etc. Overall it was a really fun day trip/activity and I would definitely do it again! read more

There is not a commitment to honoring the Groupon terms, even though they are written in black and white. There was a communication breakdown which led to a group of ten having to adjust their plans unfairly. The times/schedules are a one-size-fits-all approach and those wanting to get the full value of what is being offered will not be accommodated. In July 2019 I purchased my Pedego E bike, Ridge Rider, and I absolutely love it. Visiting friends in Solana I stopped by the SB Pedego location and did a two hour bike rental. The Solana team was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. The facility was well stocked, organized and welcoming. Jim went out of his way to help me understand the features of the various models. I would highly recommend PEDEGO SOLANA BEACH. As a footnote I live in Redondo Beach area and I visited the Redondo store and it was disorganized and a dump. The owners were nice people but had zero background in biking. We just purchased 2 Pedego Platinum bikes from Doug after much research. We met with Doug initially for several hours while he told us about Pedego bikes, explained their technology & culture. He allowed us to ride several bikes in different settings while he evaluated our needs. He recommended the Platinum because we wanted to cruise the coast and also ride on dirt roads. We left and explored many other options. We returned to order the Platinums and within a week they added our additional components like stereo speaker & phone holder etc. and had them ready to GO! We spent 4 hours with Doug at pick up, as he fine tuned our bikes to fit our needs and we learned about programming, breaking in and riding our beautiful Pedego e bikes. Just bought two Pedego bikes. They are on the higher end. They are so fun to ride. We chose Pedego as we were told the service is unmatched. We bought them a few days ago. We were told even though both were in stock we needed to wait multiple days (up to a week) for one of them to be put together. Seemed like a long time honestly. Should we have played hard ball before agreeing to spend that kind of money? One of the workers passing by heard me asking the person selling them to us if we could get them sooner. He indicated they have them together quickly. The person we were dealing with just said no. Given we spent close to $10k, this was quite disappointing to hear. I just called and spoke with the person who sold them to us (Doug) and still cannot get a solid commitment on when they will be ready. I held off writing this review to see when/if they came through. The tasks they have to do shouldn't take more than a couple of hours. This is a place where high level of service should kick in but it is not. Hoping things improve. read more

Customer service is excellence, very knowledgeable staff and extremely helpful. I needed to replace the Fat Frank's on my interceptor. I called the other shop and was told to search the web and call back with a part number, unsatisfied I called Solana Beach, I received an education on tires. I decided on two big apples and their commuter package. Extra thick tubes, tire liner and the new big apples. The bike was in and out in record time, they even adjusted the brakes and rear derailleur. It was like different bike on the ride home. They charged me up while they were doing the work so I was all set. Can't say enough good things about this shop.
