Brought in my 4-year-old's little red Woom bike after a tumble. Chain was noisy, brakes were originally fine. * Tech couldn't figure out the chain, but offered to "freshen up" the brakes and oil the chain for $38. * when I picked it up: chain still noisy, brakes now dragging .... * I was like "fine I'll do it myself". At home: 5 minutes with a hex key + removing a plastic chain guard = problem solved. So: * Them = $38, an hour, bike worse. * Me = ten minutes, free, bike rideable again. They were friendly, but the actual service felt like paying to break something that wasn't broken. Not being able to figure out the chain that took me (a complete mechanical layman) 5 minutes to notice is one thing. Our salesperson Tyler was awesome! Highly recommend him for his knowledge & info on Electra bikes. We purchased 2 e-bikes & accessories. We agreed to have the bikes delivered since we live in San Clemente. The manager Ian Escobedo decided to charge $200.00. I went ballistic, we spent a lot of money for the bikes and I thought it was excessive. He did reduce it a little bit, but it leaves me feeling bad feelings about the shop and his lack of business sense. read more

Horrible experience. Took my Trek Domane SL7 in for an inspection for a creaking sound and a tune up. They tried to upsell me for new chain and cassette, even though I just replaced both 2 months earlier. Then, a week later, I get a text saying they can't work on my bike because it has a crack in the frame. Only options were to fix or replace. When I asked about repair cost I was quickly dismissed and referred to some guy in Poway. Just first name, no contact information. When I went to get my bike, parts were removed and they hand me a bag with cassette, crankset and other parts in it. When I asked why they took it apart and didn't put back together I was told that this was a "Gray area". What??? I spent over $15k on 2 new bikes at this shop, and get this type of treatment. At least Tyler gave me the repair guy's phone number. Not sure why they couldn't have given this to me before, instead of leaving me to fend for myself. I will never return to this store again. Beware of the upsell!!!! read more

As someone who has managed a bicycle shop for years and deeply values customer service, I was honestly surprised -- and disappointed -- by my recent experience at the Trek Store in San Diego. While visiting the area, my wife, newborn (in a stroller), and I arrived at the shop at 11:58 AM to have a tire replaced. A staff member was already inside wiping down the front door, clearly saw us waiting, and simply walked away. I assumed he was grabbing the keys to open a minute early (as we often did in our own shop), but instead he and the team waited until 12:01 PM to unlock the doors -- even as customers gathered outside. In my decades working with Trek as a dealer, we never made customers stand and wait outside when the store was clearly ready to open -- lights on, bikes out, staff present. If you're there and ready, open the door. Those little gestures matter. Once inside, I was further surprised to find they didn't have my tire in stock -- a Trek RSL tire -- something I expected a Trek-owned location to carry. Still wanting to support bike shops wherever I go, I picked up some sealant to get me rolling until I'm back in L.A. This experience was a good reminder: small acts of customer care go a long way. Trek is better than this -- at least their independent dealers are. read more

Stopped in to have a tire changed which I was having trouble removing due to a tight fit. The mechanic took it and was having trouble as well started swearing and then too a bare steel tool to my aluminum rim and scratced the hell out of it. I told him thats why I came to a bike shop so I wouldnt damage my rim. He put the rim down trying to conceal what he did and didnt offer to fix or replace it. Dont go here, I left with a damaged rim and the tire still on. They have my phone number and no call from them. I am sure the other staff heard what was going on and when I looked around everyone was gone! DONT GO HERE!!!! read more

Great location on a busy bike route on the Pacific Coast Highway. I believe this store moved from Solana Beach and the Solana Beach location is closed. Came here to find some cycling shoes and clips for my girlfriend. A great selection of bikes, gear, accessories, and they have a repair and maintenance shop. I really like the wall art and it kind of looks like a cycling museum. Great customer service as usual. They also have military discount so that always helps off set the state tax. read more

This is a beautifully laid out store space with a very knowledgeable and helpful staff, I'm a novice to road bikes and they took the time to answer my questions and not make me feel like I don't belong. The store is surprisingly well stocked considering the supply shortages that many stores are experiencing right now. Extra large bikes being hard to come by, Tim in sales was able to locate me a great Fuel EX mountain bike which was delivered next day. My experience was great. No complaints at all. The general manager, Matt, sales manager David, Dan & Curdan in service all were real helpful & pleasant. Looking forward to using my new bike lots & progressing in experience on different trails. They even have workshops on bike maintenance & go on rides together. Really glad I met Tim & he was the one that helped me. Definitely ask for Tim. He's super knowledgeable & great to work with. My wife and I bought Trek e-bikes, Verve+ 2, and we love them. We ride up and down the coast all the time and we have become HUGE fans of Jason and the entire service team at the Encinitas store. We bring our bikes in for servicing or to address a squeak, a flat tire, or a chain slipping and each and every time we come away smiling at the great service we received. I just recorded 3,000 miles on my bike and it still runs like new because of the excellent service and maintenance provided by the Trek team. The minute we entered Trek we were greeted with a warm welcome! They were so accommodating and so nice to adjust the bike for us! The service team at Trek is amazingly good. They have worked on my bike several times and not only fixed the problem, but helped me to understand what the issue was and talked about precisely what they did to solve it. Matt in particular has been very helpful and represents the brand very well. He took it upon himself to point out some safety concerns he found on my bike while working on it; he literally looked out for my safety and then showed me how to properly take care of these things in the future. This is much appreciated. Not to mention, they offer 1-day turnaround times for bicycle repairs on ALL bikes (even non-Trek bikes), which is NOT offered by any other bike shop around here as far as I know. I'm sure there are issues where they would need to order a part, but at least they aren't holding your bike up for weeks like other shops. Some of us can't give our bikes up for 2-3 weeks, and we go to Trek. read more

They take good care of you when you're spending money. Got the bike and everything I needed. Spent almost $4,000. Was told by the manager Matt that I would get a bike fit. When it came time to get the bike fit it was the most half ass thing I have ever seen and acted like it was a huge inconvenience for them. Literally just held the bike up and measured one leg while sitting on the bike. I had to make a ton of adjustments myself. Great service if you're spending money. But once they got your money they don't care. I plan on buy either the madone or speed concept next year. I will make sure to steer clear of this poorly ran bike shop and hopefully others will too. read more

Showed up this morning for minor bike work and to purchase a cell phone mount. Was greeted at 10:56 am (shop officially opens at 11 am) by 2 employees who walked out to my bike rack to talk about what I needed. Matt helped me remove my bike from the rack and in the process shared some suggestions on how I can improve my rack security for the future. He proceeded to locate the parts I needed, installed the 2 items for no charge and I was in and out of there in 10 minutes. Oh, and if that doesn't qualify for 110% customer satisfaction, he pumped up the tires too, all the while chatting about our recent rides.
