I have used Pedro twice now for large scaled front and back yard concrete with intricate border and stamping and dying details work it turned out amazing. He communicated well and explained the process and what my option's were and did everything he said he was going to do with precision and care. The amount of detail and consistency through out the project even though done at two separate times really speaks highly of his work. He was referred to me from a contractor that has been using him for years and I'm so happy with everything from start to finish. I think as a home owner we all need to understand that this is quickly becoming a lost trade on the residential side where quality and details matter and there are few out there that truly understand the old ways of laying concrete and that the people like Pedro who are still in this trade need to consider more than just a deadline of completion which seems to be the biggest concern I see on his other reviews. This is a forever upgrade to your home and weather, supplies, and labor all play a key part so give yourself and the contractor some time and leniency to work it out and give you the best product possible. We have been so completely disappointed with the quality of this work, it's distressing. We did the research, 5 stars, paid a lot of money for a new driveway, side yard and patio. Within weeks, leopard looking spots came up. "That's just the nature of concrete." Hmmm. Within about 5 months, a white substance started leaching up, all over. Again, "that's the nature of concrete...." It's been almost 2 years, and after several power washes, chemical cleaners and a lot of frustration, we have the same, ugly mess. Pedro and his team did a beautiful job for me. He worked as a subcontractor to my landscape contractor. He and his team worked in my front yard for 7 days (some full days and some half days). They were always professional and friendly, arriving when they said they would and cleaning up daily. The work they accomplished is as follows: 1) Demo of driveway and walkway, 2) Pour of new concrete for new driveway, for new extended walkway (including 2 steps), and for extending my porch steps, 3) Installation of ribbons of flagstone within the driveway, walkway, and walkway steps, and 4) clad of porch and porch steps with flagstone (including stacked stone edges). Bottom line is that Pedro and his team did a really beautiful job on the concrete and flagstone that they laid for me. I can't say enough for the quality of work and the ease of working with Pedro and his team. On the day of the concrete pour with a zillion things going on, Pedro remembered to tell me when I could have my grandsons put their handprints into a piece of the new concrete. We hired Pedro to fix our backyard after a very bad experience with another contractor. The other contractor put stamped concrete there a year ago and turned it into a dirty and unusable place. Pedro and his crew demolished the bad concrete and adjacent structures. They put new stamped concrete with a pattern and color of our choice and a new extended step to the house. They also fixed the broken downspouts and house walls damaged by the previous contractor. Everything was done according to the building codes with high quality and professionalism. We learned what needed to happen-He didn't even know us when I called and he went out of his way to come over within the hour. We were in a pickle. Let me say up front that Pedro and his crew mostly (with one important exception detailed below) did a great job pouring and molding my concrete driveway. When I bought a house in Belmont, the city decided that the driveway needed to be completely rebuilt. My general contractor sub-contracted the concrete portion to Pedro. Pedro came to my house and explained his work in a way that I could understand. We picked a color to be pre-mixed into the concrete as well as a natural stone pattern to be imprinted into the wet concrete. After my general contractor finished with the structure, Pedro's crew rolled in with their concrete pumper and laid out the concrete, smoothed it out, then stamped the stone pattern on it. I was there in the morning when they were pumping the concrete and smoothing it out. It looked like any other concrete: brownish gray. The crew was very efficient and careful smoothing out the surface. They also put control joints in to minimize the chance of cracking. The only problem was a big one. They pre-mixed the wrong color into the concrete. Let this be a super-valuable lesson to anyone working with Pedro (or any other contractor). We had verbally agreed on San Diego Bluff (an mostly brown earth tone). I didn't both getting a written confirmation. When the concrete dried, it turned out a rose pink color completely different than what I wanted. Through my general contractor, Pedro insisted that was the color I picked, and he even said it was San Diego Bluff. It was definitely on that color. It wasn't a matter of being one color chip over on the color sample page: it wasn't in the right color family. I ended up having to get the concrete re-stained, a cost my general contractor and I split. So I was out of pocket at least $500 on Pedro's error. The crew that re-stained had plenty of experience with pre-colored concrete. They've rolled out plenty of San Deigo Buff colored concrete surfaces and agreed that what I got was definitely not the right color. If Pedro had agreed to own his error, I would have given this his crew 5 stars. But for refusing to even own his mistake, I was out $500. I own part of the problem as well, as I should have insisted on a written contract with details spelled out explicitly. But he didn't offer one either. read more

I am really unhappy with my porch. I had these guys put in a 15 by 16 foot foundation for a screen room. It was supposed to be flat for flooring. It has a high Ridge down the entire middle where the stress relief is. I would have to sand for days or use a ton of joint compound to fix it. Also had them put in a 8 by 20 foot porch down the rest of the house. Within a month I had 2 big cracks. The owner came out and said he wouldn't fix them. They don't fix hairline cracks. These are some fat hairs and one of them goes the full length of the porch and up the wall where they patched my stucco. I would not use these guys again. They also left about 100 cigarette butts all over my yard and did a poor job on some concrete removal. I'll be removing it for the rest of my life. read more

The flagstone area's right edge was curved in a graceful way, so I will now have a lovely planter area between my flagstone and my neighbor's driveway. The flagstone replaced an ugly, ugly black-top surface. Pedro was always available when I called, unlike others whom I figured didn't need my work, they were so difficult to contact. The job was started within a week after the proposal, and finished within four days, taking away those days when it was impossible to work given the rain.
