New extended walkway with flagstone ribbons and 2 flagstone steps.
    Katherine F.

Pedro and his team did a beautiful job for me. He worked as a subcontractor to my landscape contractor. He and his team worked in my front yard for 7 days (some full days and some half days). They were always professional and friendly, arriving when they said they would and cleaning up daily. The work they accomplished is as follows: 1) Demo of driveway and walkway, 2) Pour of new concrete for new driveway, for new extended walkway (including 2 steps), and for extending my porch steps, 3) Installation of ribbons of flagstone within the driveway, walkway, and walkway steps, and 4) clad of porch and porch steps with flagstone (including stacked stone edges). Bottom line is that Pedro and his team did a really beautiful job on the concrete and flagstone that they laid for me. I can't say enough for the quality of work and the ease of working with Pedro and his team. On the day of the concrete pour with a zillion things going on, Pedro remembered to tell me when I could have my grandsons put their handprints into a piece of the new concrete. I highly recommend Pedro's Concrete Company.

Don't let the casual name fool you--Pedro's Concrete is a professional as they come. I hired Pedro and crew to remove and redo my sinking driveway. Pedro was very knowledgeable when it came to the many options we had (straight bushed finished to custom stamping, etc.). He listen to what we wanted and made very valuable suggestions. He communicated every step of the job, showed up when he said he would and left the job site in immaculate condition. We could not be happier with the work that Pedro did and would highly recommend his service to anyone looking for quality, custom and standard concrete and masonry work.

Pedro installed a stamped and colored concrete patio for us. He bid the job for a fair and reasonable price and it never went up. He help us choose a color and pattern that would look good with our house. He and his crew showed up when they said they would and finished on schedule. When it rained prior to the pour, instead of just placing the concrete on wet and swollen soil and collecting his money, he waited for the rain to stop and a few days more for the soil to dry out. I appreciated a quality install above all else and this patience and attention to detail shows he treats jobs as if they were his own. The finished product is beautiful!

Pedro's bid was mid range but he showed up on time and performed top notch work. After a year I'm still satisfied with his work. I would like to have him do other work for me on the back and side yards. One of my few 5 star reviews.

Only concrete specialist I would hire. He has done all of my concrete. Concrete turns out beautiful and everything is cleaned up.

He recommended a fix that would cost more. I didn't want to fight or pay more for him to fix. In addition, I'm wasn't happy that he increased the quote on me 3 times. I essentially had to prepare each time.

I don't want to leave negative reviews because I understand everyone is working hard to make a…read moreliving, but this was the first time I had to stop a contractor after 1.5 days because I was stressed and concerned about the way the work was progressing. I wanted my backyard demoed to install draining and concrete to make it low maintenance and fix draining issues during heavy rains. I felt the materials purchased didn't look right and were also different from what other contractor bids mentioned the material they would use. I even consulted AI and other forums online to make sure my intuition wasn't off. Either way, I don't think these materials purchased were the issue because if I am working with a good contractor, they would be able to either adjust to my request in a respectful manner or explain their approach rather than gaslighting me. First, Tran purchased triple wall HDPE pipes for a very long run for the draining (20+ feet). I assumed we'd be using PVC pipes and that was also the recommendation from most as PVC is more durable and less prone to bellying during the installation process. If issues arise, it's also a better material to snake through rather than triple wall HDPE as it is smoother and more durable. When I asked if the triple wall HDPE pipe could be returned and to use PCV instead, Tran responded as if I were crazy and mentioned the PVC pipe is not for outdoor use. I was taken aback and wasn't sure how to respond to this, I've only seen copper or plastic piping used for my indoor plumbing and there was PVC piping used outside we can see right in front of us as we were talking. Second, it's best not to use 90 degree elbow for my situation, and it's better to use 45 degree elbow to avoid clogging. If you've gone through elementary school, then clearly you can tell the elbow purchased is 90 degrees. I asked Tran if he could use 45, and he responded "These are all 45, you can take this to home depot and check." The elbow clearly looked 90 degrees, so I had to go out to home depot myself, take a picture of the clear difference between the 90 degree elbow he had purchased vs the obvious 45 degree elbow at the store, then he responded, "Ok, let me get the new elbow." This is the second instance of gaslighting that made me feel confused and concerned to trust this contractor to continue work. Third, because the draining was going to be installed underneath concrete, this means it will be challenging to unclog or check for issues if something went wrong in the future. I asked about this and wanted to communicate my desire to install some sort of drain cleanout, but I was cut off and Tran simply stated "I've done this so many times" and never answered my question properly. I felt taken advantage of and disrespected with the gaslighting while working with this contractor. I am spending a lot of money and this is a huge job that needs to be done correctly, as trying to fix plumbing underneath concrete isn't the same as fixing plumbing underneath an indoor sink. The fact that an elbow could not even be purchased properly was the last straw and I did not feel comfortable moving forward. I give 2 stars for showing up each day and working hard to demo the backyard as there was a lot of weeded grass and plants that needed to be removed.

Overall, we are happy with the finished project. The fire pit and planting area turned out beautifully, and the lawn looks great. There were a few dead spots in the new grass, but the team returned and repaired them. There were a couple of details that did not fully meet our expectations. We had a propane box installed to supply the fire pit, and we were disappointed with the cover, which was made from only two large standard tiles and does not look as finished as we had hoped. We were also surprised that much of the irrigation system was installed using flexible tubing rather than Schedule 40 pipe that was trenched and buried. Since much of the tubing is covered only by bark, we are concerned it could be damaged as people walk through the area. That said, Nick did a good job helping us plan the project and was very responsive whenever we had questions or concerns. Despite a few areas that could have been handled differently, we are pleased with the overall outcome.

Our project was fairly extensive -- it included building retaining walls, flattening and creating more usable space in our backyard, and installing paver stones. Simon stood out to us from the very beginning, when we were still meeting with different companies and deciding who to hire. He was never pushy or overly sales-focused. Instead, he took the time to understand what we wanted, walked us through his design proposals, and offered thoughtful recommendations based on his experience. We really liked his ideas and ultimately felt comfortable trusting his expertise and recommendations for the space. That same level of attention continued throughout the entire project. Simon checked in with us every single day and always showed up with a smile and a positive attitude. Whenever he came over to discuss the project or answer questions, he never made us feel rushed. He was always willing to take his time, talk things through, and make sure we were comfortable before moving forward. He was also incredibly flexible and accommodating with our schedules, which we really appreciated. With a project of this size happening in your backyard for several weeks, having a project manager who is accessible, patient, and communicates consistently makes such a huge difference. Simon was quick to respond whenever we had questions and made the whole process feel much easier to navigate. What impressed us most was how he handled the final stretch of the project. During the final inspection, we brought up a few questions and concerns, and there was never any defensiveness or hesitation. Simon listened, took our concerns seriously, and quickly came back with solutions to make sure we were happy with the finished project. That level of accountability and follow-through really reinforced that we had made the right choice. Simon is professional, patient, approachable, responsive, and genuinely seems to care about both his clients and the quality of the finished project. From helping us envision the backyard during the design stage to making sure everything was addressed at the very end, he was there throughout the entire process. We really enjoyed working with Simon and would absolutely recommend asking for Simon Lee if you're considering a project with Black Diamond. Thank you, Simon, for taking such great care of us and helping transform our backyard!

A couple of years ago they helped me with a smaller concrete project, and I was so impressed by their professionalism and craftsmanship that I knew I would reach out again when it came time to redo my entire backyard. From the very beginning, Eric stood out for his clear communication and honesty. His quote was very fair compared to other contractors I contacted, but what really made a difference was how much thought he put into the design and planning. My backyard was in pretty bad shape -- uneven ground, cracked areas, and even a section near a retaining wall that wasn't very stable. Eric carefully looked at every problem and came up with creative, affordable, and effective solutions. He never tried to upsell or rush decisions. Instead, he made sure I fully understood each option, and he adjusted the plan to fit both my budget and my vision. During the construction, Eric and his dad worked with incredible efficiency and attention to detail. Every single day, they arrived on time, worked hard, and cleaned up so thoroughly before leaving that I could barely tell it was an active construction site. That level of care and respect for a client's home is rare and deeply appreciated. The final result completely transformed my backyard -- the concrete surface is smooth, solid, and beautifully leveled. They even paid attention to the small finishing touches that many contractors might overlook. The project was completed right on schedule, exactly as promised. Eric and his father are honest, reliable, and take great pride in their work. You can tell they truly care about doing the job right, not just getting it done. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to hire them again or recommend them to anyone who needs high-quality concrete work. They're the kind of people you feel lucky to find -- hardworking, trustworthy, and genuinely good at what they do.
