Very good job on my concrete patio. Not as familiar with tiling but still did a great job on my steps. I got ceramic paving tile samples that were too thick, Jose also didn't spot it, and I paid him extra for the extra work cutting it to size. I wanted to do a raised pergola (I chose Paragon Outdoor for its height) on concrete pedestals of differing heights extending from the patio to match pergola ceiling height with sliding door height (9 feet?). Required precision, laser level, making pergola before pouring concrete. Turn out nice. High pergola feels more spacious and higher end. Most pics 6 months after with only 2 pics of hairline concrete drying cracks. read more

It's not often one writes this about a concrete job, but Jose was a total delight to work with. We wanted to get a shallow pool skim-coated to convert it to a dry garden. The existing concrete was not attractive visually, and it needed re-surfacing. I couldn't find a concrete contractor who understood what I envisioned. Some told me to simply fill in the bed with fresh concrete (not what I wanted) , while others told me that stucco was the way to go. VJ Concrete was my final attempt at finding a concrete contractor who could understand what I was looking for, and Jose immediately grasped what I needed. He recommended a product that could "dress" the concrete and give it a new look, told me what to expect, and completed the entire job in one day with with his assistant, Julian. They took the utmost care with our patio, prepping meticulously and cleaning thoroughly afterward. The price was more than reasonable, and we really enjoyed getting to know Jose. Jose was a super nice guy so I want to give him three stars just for that alone. Unfortunately I haven't had the greatest luck with getting a price quote. I contacted Jose, he came out immediately on July 7th (Thursday) and promised a quote by the weekend. Unfortunately I didn't know he went on vacation so never got the quote. I followed up on July 18th, didn't get a response, sent another on July 25th (and he let me know he got back). I did call him as he asked in early August...to which he promised a quote by the end of the week. It's now two weeks later and there's no quote. I suspect my job is just not big enough (12ft x 10ft total) so therefore it's just not worth his time. Based on other reviews it looks like he does great work for big jobs but doesn't have time for small jobs like myself. I'd recommend other contractors/vendors if you're looking for a smaller (under 200sq ft job) read more

Amazing work ethic, reasonable prices, and top notch work! We recently completed a home remodel, where the city (Belmont) required us to replace our driveway approach alongside a number of sidewalk repairs. I reached out to a handful of concrete contractors for quotes. Jose was the first to respond and set up a next day appointment to review the work. He showed up on time, and proved extremely knowledgeable and experienced - not to mention was an extremely respectful and professional individual. His quote came in very competitive and we chose to move forward (regardless of the limited Yelp reviews). Jose had reviews on other reputable websites and provided his contractors license to us - which made us feel secure in our decision to work with him. Boy, are we happy we did! The following week, Jose had been to the city to pull the permit, met with the inspector, and kicked off work. Him and his team were here the next three days (including Saturday and Sunday), 8-5, prepping and getting everything ready for a required inspection before pouring the cement. They showed up always with smiles on their faces, and worked hard to beat the rain. Jose even ended up replacing a few added sidewalk squares (not required by the city, but with a bit of damage) at no added cost, just because he was already here and said it would look better if he did. We just had our final inspection this morning and passed with flying colors. Throughout the entire experience, Jose would call and text me to provide updates, so I never wondered where the project sat. A truly wonderful contractor experience!
