Just wow! Mahogany worked with me on what I wanted, she took time to understand the meaning behind the cake, paid attention to every single detail I wanted and it showed! I had high hopes for this business since looking at their Instagram page, however, my experience with them has been less than satisfactory. I sent a picture of the cake I wanted along with the changes I wanted made. I asked for the stars to be changed from pink and blue, to pastel lavender and pastel turquoise, keeping the pastel yellow stars as well. That is all! Everything else was to remain as is. My sister in law picked up the cake an hour before our event (given to her by the daughter, not the baker, Mahogany) and told me it looked NOTHING like the picture I referenced. There was no lettering, the stars were -humongous- (not supposed to be that way) and the cake was a dark grey color when it should have been light grey. My sister in law had to wait about 7 minutes in the heat with the cake to discuss what could be done. Overall, Mahogany added lettering and a few small stars. She had stated that she didn't have stencils for small stars but absolutely failed to communicate that to me. She continuously tried to explain to my sister in law what her customers "normally" twisted. Instead, she added HUGE stars to the cake, making it look tacky. The lettering had to be done in a small space of the cake. Mahogany says she hasn't had a disappointed customer in her 15 years of doing this but no one is perfect and it's impossible to never have had a customer be dissatisfied in that time. The cake was honestly hideous compared to what I've seen on their Instagram and what I referenced. It seemed like it was done last minute, rushed, and was not a moist cake. It only served its purpose used as a gender reveal but no one enjoyed the cake except for the little ones. Because of my dissatisfaction, I was told that I could receive half the deposit back ($40 -- the cake was $160 total), and Mahogany was NOT willing to send proof or a receipt of the refund even though it's through a reputable company with that accessibility (Square). She finally sent the money directly through Zelle after me requesting multiple times to send proof of confirmation/receipt. Overall, it was very dodgy of her. I just wanted to share my experience with the cake and the owner. This company wasn't my first choice, but I won't be making this mistake again nor recommending anyone I know. See pictures and screenshots. **Edit**: the change in dates were accommodated and not far off from the original date. It took multiple attempts to confirm the date change. My sister in law waited about 7-8 minutes waiting for someone to speak to her about the cake. THEN she left the cake with you. She also did inform you that the cake looked entirely different from what was requested. And that no matter what changes were made I wasn't going to be happy. (I was on FaceTime, so I watched her tell you this). Everyone I've shown the cake to on Facebook, including other cake decorators, has said that the cake looked rushed and definitely not worth $120. No one has perfect service over the course of 15 years without any mistakes... Especially in this business or any other creative business. There was absolutely no communication in regards to the decorations not being up to my standard until the cake had already been made. If you knew that you did not have the stencil size for the stars that I wanted, that should have been communicated before hand. And yes, me asking for a confirmation of receipt (continuously) and not receiving one does come off very dodgy. Any other business would have been able to provide one, especially if it's being ran through Square. As far as the design that I asked for... I told you the only things that I wanted changed. If you weren't sure about the design and the lettering, there should have been more communication, no exceptions. It's fine that someone else's cupcakes came out moist and delicious... However my cake did not. As a nail tech in the creative business industry, I understand that replicated designs are not going to come out the exact same... However, I do expect something close to what I requested... This cake was far from that! And "generous" is far from what my refund was. I took the liberty of sharing the thoughts on my cake when I shared my review on Facebook. I'm definitely not the only one who thought this cake was hideous and not worthy of the money paid. read more

Mahogany with Peek A Boo Bakery was phenomenal to work with. I had to order a custom cake for a family members surprise birthday party from out of state, at the last minute. Every bakery I called stated it was too late. Mahogany made time to custom make a cake that was not only beautiful, but truly the best cake everyone at the party had tasted. I sent her pictures of what we were interested in and she blew it out of the park. It was more beautiful than we anticipated. I had done a thorough search online for custom cake businesses across town, and I'm so happy that I decided on this one. Mahogany is a very talented and detail-oriented artist! I had sketched a rudimentary, crude drawing of what I envisioned for a western-themed custom cake and Mahogany literally brought it to life with 10x the detail than I expected!
