I was in need of a facial and it has been quite a while, so I needed to hunt down a great place. I found Skin Habit thru Yelp and booked a 50 minute clear skin facial with Bailey. The building itself it no frills and pretty mellow, and doesn't feel stuffy like some of the other places I have visited. Bailey was down to earth, friendly and checked in at various times throughout the appt, but was not overly chatty, which made for a nice relaxing appt. The facial itself was very different from past experiences, in a very good way. The extractions were not painful and I was a little doubtful that anything happened, but when I went hope my skin looked great and a lot of small bumps had been removed. I had such a great experience at Skin Habit! From the moment I walked in, Xiolene, the manager, greeted me with the warmest welcome. She is truly so sweet and made me feel instantly comfortable. Bri, my esthetician, did an amazing job. I had some congestion around my nose, and she was able to remove it thoroughly while still being incredibly gentle. She has such a calm, soothing energy, which I really appreciated. I'm someone who prefers to fully relax during a facial rather than being asked a lot of questions, and Bri respected that perfectly. Another wonderful facial with Saretta at skin habit in North Park. I request the beauty at any age 50 minute facial and I come out feeling like my skin has lost 10 years. The place is so cute! I arrived a bit early since there is only street parking available, I was lucky to find a spot just a few blocks away. Hannah is AMAZING! I love how she spoke me through the process of what will go into my session, explaining the products being applied to my face and the benefits of each one, and familiarizing herself with the skincare products and routine I already use at home--making minor changes and recommendations to maintain my skin. My skin goal overall was to even out my skin texture, get a deeper cleanse for the clogged pores, and extraction! I felt so refreshed after! My skin was bright and glowing! So disappointing to write this because I had a great experience here last time. I arrived to my 3:15 appointment early and wasn't called back until past 3:20. She had me undress and I laid in the bed waiting until almost 3:30. I assumed I would still get the full 80 minute facial that I booked and would finish at 4:50 due to it starting so late, however my facial finished at 4:33. When I told the front that my facial didn't start until 3:30 she checked with the esthetician who said I was only brought back 5 minutes late and that the time I sat alone waiting counted as part of the 80 minutes. Whatever, it should have at least been 5 extra minutes then since they agreed I was brought back 5 minutes late. The facial itself was fine, she was out of the room for maybe 10-15 minutes of it. She put a headband on but still got a ton of face cream and oil in my hair. read more

I decided to treat myself with an 80-minute facial on my birthday at Skin Habit. I have heard good things about this spot from a friend, so I was eager to try it out for myself with a Hydrate + Calm facial. The storefront is in a great location, right on 30th street and was not hard to find. I was welcomed by my facialist and brought into a very small room right at the front of the facility. The worst part about this facial was the fact that I could not relax at all. Although I felt comfortable, I could hear two people talking for the first 40 minutes of my facial. I think they try to mask out voices with some indie and alternative pop, but that was also playing pretty loudly (did not work to drown out voices either). The facial itself was okay, nothing impressive. I was also disappointed with the massage. It felt more like she was just gliding her hand over me than massaging. I usually have to tell people to apply less pressure, but here I was begging for more! I think the worst part was that it was not the full 80 minutes. My facialist probably came into my room to start 5 or so minutes after 10 AM, and when I looked at my phone with it was over, it was 11:10 AM. So, my facial in total was probably 65 minutes. For the price I paid, I am disappointed and frustrated. Sadly, despite my excitement in trying this spot out, I did not have a great experience at Skin Habit. read more

I used to drive from SD to OC for facials then realized how both time and money-consuming it was. It didn't help that I was apprehensive of a lot of skincare places because my skin was extremely sensitive and American skincare didn't work for me a lot of the time. Even then, Skin Habit had piqued my interest after doing research on the skincare scene in SD because of how it didn't charge up the wazoo like other places and was one of the best-rated spots. Out of desperation one crusty morning, I booked a facial here because they magically had an opening that same day. I've refused to go to any other SD esthetician service since. All of the staff members are friendly and fantastic, but extra shoutout to Saretta and Lilly for being the ones who saved my skin. Other than everyone being so well-trained and the best people to talk to throughout the session, I appreciated that they never product-push. They'll give recommendations and samples, but they never make you feel awkward about not wanting to buy products. They'll really listen to you and help you work with what you already have. That's not to say that their products aren't great, because now almost my entire routine has come from Skin Habit's recs and it's still so much more affordable than going to Sephora for stuff. Skin Habit is truly your one-stop shop for skin care. My skin has never been better and I'm not going broke for fast skincare. I find that the 50-min sessions are sufficient, but I'll occasionally treat myself to the 80-min for the extra massage. I recommend booking a month in advance because appointments can fill up pretty quickly, but they also have a really efficient communication service for waitlists. read more

Decided to treat my sister and mom to a facial and came across this spot! I was able to book the 50 min facials for each of us online about a week beforehand. It's a cute place located in North Park - they even had an adorable furbaby to greet me when I visited. I got the Clear Skin facial which includes extractions and exfoliation. I personally really enjoyed the treatment Valerie gave - she walked me through each step of the facial and my skin was glowing afterwards. Even after a couple of days after the facial, my skin is smoother and more moisturized. After your facial, they recommend products you can incorporate into your routine (for purchase). Got the best facial from esthetician Lilli! I did a ful 90 minute facial, which included a neck and shoulder massage. Overall, it was relaxing snd I had great conversation with Lilli. We spoke about my current skincare routine and how I could improve it. She gave recommendations when I asked. This was my first facial ever and be warned - the extraction part hurt!! But apparently it gets less uncomfortable if you come often. It was worth it as my skin was glowing when I came out and still feels and looks great a week later. I appreciated that they didn't try to convince me to buy any products or spend more money (as the facial was $120). I did get a small facial serum though. From the moment you open the door it is a clean , cute and aesthetically pleasing place that has great vibrant colors and lots of products! The front desk staff were also so helpful from the jump! The facial room (?) is where the magic happens has a storage and hooks for your belongings. They offer gowns and blankets but as an "intermediate-facial- receiver" I knew to where something strapless. From there, Sanetta was just so accommodating and comforting throughout the entire facial. I'm a talker so I was chatty for most of it but relaxed a lot too. Sanetta is just so good that she could follow the ebb and flow of my energy. She constantly assured me of what was next and what it does for my skin (because I kept asking ). The products love!
