Perfect Location!!!! 5Stars Location is across the Todos Santos Plaza, today there was a festival in the plaza with over 100 vendors and music. Plenty of seating great views and 5 Stars on customer service!!!!

Plant-Based Breakfast Sandwich
Dan B.

I stopped by today to try out the latest plant-based breakfast sandwich. Overall, the sandwich was really good. I was also happy to know both the cheese and egg were also plant-based friendly unlike Starbucks' option. The macros were a bit surprising, mostly the 21g of Fat. It is likely from the patty and egg substitute so hopefully in the future they can refine that. 21g is about one-third of my daily fat intake. The location was clean and lightly busy. There was an Anniversary blend being advertised and when I inquired if it was available in their already brewed coffees for the morning, the cashier responded no. Perhaps it was too early in the morning but I thought it was weird to not have your promotional coffee available. The barista/cashier could benefit from some soft skills training as she seemed un-engaged. Working service is a tough gig (I know from experience) but we do the best to maximize the customer experience.

Vanilla latte with almond milk! Love the latte art on top :)

Worst service ever, what can I say? Management, your staff needs to wake up. Maybe some some coffee would help. Lol

Cute coffee shop in the middle of a strip mall! We found this place on Yelp by searching for local…read morecoffee shops and this one stood out! The staff was friendly and there was plenty of parking in front and behind the cafe. It was well decorated, with big windows, an open-air bar, and cafe merchandise for sale. There was also a bulletin board advertising other businesses, a bathroom, and wifi options. It was a bit warmer this day, but there was a big fan in the front providing some air to the space. There was also a free or paid wifi option depending on the bandwidth one would need. I ordered the iced chai latte with caramel syrup and almond milk, which was a bit pricey for nearly $10. However, I will say it was delicious and made quickly. Probably the coolest thing here though was the co-working space. The front of the cafe had plenty of seating for people to talk or work. There was a hallway leading to the back room that had larger tables for bigger groups, implying more of a co-working or quieter space. Definitely appealing for people wanting a third space - will be back!

I came here with my partner to get coffee. We ordered an iced oat latte and an oat latte with honey…read moreat the cash register. Our drinks seemed to be taking a bit of time, but I thought nothing of it because it's normal for orders to come out a little slowly here. I noticed that the people who were behind us in line had received their drinks so I asked about our drinks at the coffee bar. They had no record of our order. The very same girl who I had placed our order with asked me if I had used a different name (?) or if I had placed my order online (??????). She seemed seriously confused/disbelieving that we had an order...even though she was the person who took it. Eventually she offered to start making our drinks but we had already wasted enough time so I asked for a refund. As I was getting my refund, our order miraculously appeared in their work queue. I get that sometimes orders are forgotten and there was a steady stream of customers, but the shop was not so busy that you would not remember the people who placed an order less than ten minutes prior. It was a bizarre interaction. Also, when I asked for a receipt for my refund the barista was unable to provide me one. Not cool. They offered us some drinks coupons for my next visit but I declined them because there won't be a next time. Their coffee is not that special, it's just one of the very few independent coffee shops in Concord.

Vietnamese coffee, in my opinion, should be strong, bold, and sweet, and I was pleasantly surprised…read morethat 85° Bakery delivered exactly that. While we were there, we spoke with another customer who also ordered the Vietnamese coffee. She asked for 125% sugar because she found the "regular" sweetness to be too bitter, but I have to disagree. I ordered mine at the regular sweetness level, and it was already plenty sweet with definitely no extra sugar needed in my opinion. In fact, it might even be borderline too sweet for some people, but since I enjoy sweeter drinks, it worked perfectly for me. One thing to note is that you cannot adjust the ice level for this drink. I did not understand why at first, but it makes sense now because even after the ice melts, the coffee remains strong and the flavor stays rich and sweet. Overall, it is a solid and well balanced coffee. That said, I still really enjoy 85° Bakery's sea salt coffee drinks as well. I'm happy that I've found another coffee option that I enjoy from this bakery.

What Happened to the Choco Bun?…read more Plenty of free parking. When you walk in, grab a tray and window shop all the pastries. They individually wrap these so grab what you want and place it on your tray. Once you're finished, cruise up to the counter. Would I Come Back? Yes, I keep coming back. I use to come back for the Choco Bun, but if they've changed the recipe at all locations, I'll only be coming back for the Milk Bun and Nougat. Their Signature Item: Egg tarts are their signature item. If you've ever been to an Asian party, someone almost always brings a box of egg tarts from 85-Degrees. But on today's visit. Well, just look at the photo. Someone stepped away from the oven for about 6 minutes too long. Choco Bun ($2.55, Grade D): The Choco Bun has been my absolute go-to for years--the closest location to me is usually the South Sacramento store and I tell everyone they have to get it whenever they visit an 85°C. Unfortunately, it's been about 8 months since my last trip, and the Choco Bun is no longer something to write home about. Milk Bun ($2.05, Grade A+): If you've ever had their Milk Bun with the custard filling, the Choco Bun used to be very similar in texture. Now, it's flat with super dry edges. Not good at all. Luckily, I also bought a Milk Bun (my usual second favorite), and by default, it's now my number one because the Choco Bun was a complete bust. It's so fluffy and sweet. Melts in your mouth. Strawberry Banana Smoothie / no boba ($5.85, Grade F): It was incredibly artificial-tasting--nothing real about it. I only made it through a quarter of it before throwing the rest into the garbage. My fault for hoping for a "just picked" fresh fruit taste, but this was honestly one of the worst smoothies I've ever had. Nougat ($9.60, Grade A+): The bagged Nougat candy is fantastic. It's soft, gooey, and packed with what I'm guessing are pieces of pistachio. Delicious, but a fair warning if you have dental issues: these will wreak havoc on your teeth. It's not quite as sticky as a Starburst, but it could definitely pull out a denture! Bottom Line: The staff here is friendly, and there are still a few standout 5-star items that make a visit worth it (the Milk Bun and the Nougat). However, the disappointing recipe change to the Choco Bun and the absolute miss on the smoothie knock this down to a 3-star experience overall.
