This was probably one of the most modern and chic coffee shops I've ever been to -- and I can't believe I slept on it until now! It's amazing how this place has grown, and I'm glad to see what they've done over the years. Their roastery is based in Oakland, but they have started to branch out to Contra Costa and other areas of Alameda County, which I have found quite surprising. I decided that trying their newest store out in Walnut Creek would do it justice -- and indeed, it tastes just like the one I tried in Oakland -- vibes, coffee drink, and pastry, everything with it's local taste. I got an easy vanilla latte -- and a butter croissant. Both tasted just as yummy as they say in other foodies' reviews. The only downside is the guest patio next to their stop -- I wasn't even sure if I was even allowed to sit there. Good coffee if you're in the area. Strong coffee taste , good sweetness level but a little too milky for a 12oz iced coffee. I wouldn't say it's excellent coffee but it's still good if you know what I mean, it's an 8/10 for me. Ample space to do work, with couches and some chairs. read more

Super convenient location steps away from Walnut Creek BART. A little tricky to find as Google, Wayz and others may take you inside the BART garage. Some street parking, and though the shop is small there is a lounge area that is fairly large. It needs more seats and tables as many of the comfortable black chairs are taken by non-customers just hanging out. The very large lobby with lots of space and furniture (100 Great Hall) is owned by Waymark and inaccessible to HighWire patrons. The whole area has train station decor which is fitting. Our Matcha and Latte were fine and the baristas did a good job explaining the menu and answering questions. Convenient coffee for those heading to or from WC Bart. read more

I did not like the coffee itself, I am a fan of French Roast and I was all for testing this new place, with a perfect location as u exit Bart Walnut C. Bought one for my son and one for me, he was not crazy about his. They do not accept CASH, they do not have cinnamon or as the guy called them " powders " Service was good, they have two outdoor tables and a large lobby with many chairs, sofas and coffee tables. Pastries looked good. I do not think I will be going back, looks like they made all the choices, without taking the customer into consideration. read more

Wow, what a great location for a Coffee shop, right by the Bart station. It is a little hard to find at first, but a Barista friend referred me to the right spot. They have really good coffee here, and it has ample seating in the spacious lounge. It is next the Luxurious apt. Waymark, and on the other side of Luna Sea Lounge. Basically next to the Parking garage of the Wc Bart station. I had the Mint Mocha and it was really good. Amazing location right past the Walnut Creek BART Parking lot - turn right and walk down the "hall" between the station & parking lot and you're there! Menu appears same as the Oakland/ Berkeley locations. The cafe itself is small but really love the adjacent seating space that is shared with the housing lobby. There are comfy chairs, coffee tables, and outlets! Looks like one can do some work but seating appears more for lounging. Stopped in for a cup of coffee and a pastry on my day off and had no issues parking despite it being next to the station and connected to the apartments. Saw lots of grab and go orders, people from the apartments, to those working in their shared common space. There is public WiFi available. WiFi is stable and fast. Got a hot Lavender Latte and a Twice Baked Almond Croissant. Delicious cup of coffee, lovely scented lavender and not too sweet. Perfect temp. The almond croissant was good, not the best I've had but pretty solid. Wish it had more almond filling and it was a little on the drier side. Service is quick and staff super friendly! They have a rewards system here. I came back the next day to try their iced Matcha Latte, which is lightly sweetened with vanilla. Definitely not a strong item here and felt that it missed the mark, would recommend their coffee instead. It was far too milky, hardly tasted the matcha and very light in color. read more

It's connected to the Waymark apartment complex and even has access to a nice lounge/lobby area if you decide to stay and get some work done. The space was super clean, well-organized, and had a relaxed vibe. The worker helping us was very sweet and welcoming, which made the experience even better. We ordered a vanilla iced latte, matcha iced latte, and the Cruel Palmer lemonade with strawberry. While the drinks didn't necessarily blow me away, they were still solid and refreshing. $8.95 for a Matcha latte. It's $9.95 if you want it iced. Weil I can't complain about their drinks, paying $10 for a drink is just not something that I'm willing to do and neither should you be. Tried Highwire for the first time a few weeks ago and loved my experience! This location is fairly cozy, so more of a to-go kind of establishment, but their coffee, pastries (from Starter Bakery) and staff are all great. No official indoor seating within Highwire, but there is an adjacent connected public lounge/lobby/seating area that appears to be managed by the nearby Waymark apartment complex. There are a few tables and seats if you want to get work done, but overall not the best place for a sit down and chit chat over coffee. There are a few outdoor tables with umbrellas. The cafe itself is clean, very well lit with natural light, and organized. Staff were super friendly! Service was quick. Got my drink on a busy Saturday morning in less than a few minutes. I ordered an iced latte with almond milk and a ginger scone. Latte was super smooth and creamy. Bitterness? Acidity? Don't know them. The ginger scone was amazing!! It was the right amount of sweet, perfectly crumbly with some coarse sugar sprinkled on top for texture. Would come back just for the scone itself. Starter Bakery never disappoints. Love that they also don't charge extra for plant-based milks :) What truly makes Highwire stand out are 1) the quality of their drinks and pastries, and 2) the friendliness of the staff. Review #005 - 2024 I guess I can officially write a shining review for this hidden little gem that just opened up not too long ago. I am so glad that I found this place because it's only a 2-minute drive from my office, which can actually be a little dangerous since that means I can come here practically everyday. All of the kids that work here are extremely friendly. They always greet you with a smile. Cass and Kiara pretty much know my order as soon as I walk through the door, which is a huge plus in these types of establishments since most customers, like myself, love being acknowledged! I always get my usual, either a hot or iced unsweetened matcha latte with whole milk. While most normal people are lactose intolerant, I have the opposite problem. I get a really bad migraine headache when I consume oat or almond milk. Cass was super thoughtful when he accidentally made my drink with almond milk, which he was super apologetic and offered to remake it right away when I called. I love when a worker is willing to make things right and not make you feel guilty about it. I have been coming here almost daily since I found them and as long as my office is still in Walnut Creek, I will continue to frequent this establishment. I have also had their meat quiche twice, which was very tasty. The bacon and onion pretzel would be my go-to pastry, if they didn't make it with onions. Hahaha I've also ordered their strawberry lemonade for my daughter and she really enjoyed it! Although I'm normally a Starbucks person, the location of Highwire Coffee Roasters being a simple walk from BART was too much to pass up. The service at this location is always incredibly friendly and the meat quiches are always super moist and warm (they keep them in something similar to a crock pot). Sometimes I'll also pick up a latte, but that's more rare because I just don't do dairy, oat, or almond milk regularly. All in all, I definitely love dropping in because the experience is always 5 stars, but I do hope they consider adding coconut milk to their non-dairy options in the future. read more

We came here for coffee on Sunday and we were not disappointed! We ordered a black coffee, one latte, and a blueberry muffin. The coffee was amazing and perfectly roasted. Line was short and we were served quickly. The ladies who helped us were engaging and knew 1 or 2 of the regulars who showed up while we were waiting. While we didn't have pastries they looked great. Will def try them next time; the Coconut Lemon Kouign Aman has my name on it.
