First, let me say that I love Peet's coffee so much, that I named my dog Peet over 13 years ago. I live in Novato, but usually go to the Petaluma location off Petaluma Blvd as it's a little easier for my commute. Today I had some time and decided to get my drink at my local location, what a disappointment. There was no line, which was nice, but the worker there (Cesar) didn't even greet me, he just asked what I'd like to order. I'm always greeted at the Petaluma location, so I asked him "don't you usually greet customers?" to which his response was "only the regular customers and the ones I know".........needless to say, I was a little taken back by that statement. I then asked the barista, who happened to be the shift lead if they normally greet customers and she said always. I told her that wasn't the case with Cesar and that maybe it's a training issue. Bottom line is that customer service is really easy. All you have to do is greet the customers, be friendly and thank them when they leave. Simple. I blame management as this is clearly a trickle down issue and needs to be addressed in training. Lastly, the espresso was over extracted and tasted bitter. Even my wife who isn't the coffee person like I am noticed how badly the drink tasted. No worries though, I still have my Petaluma location that I will continue to patronize that excels at customer service as well as top notch and consistent products. read more

Peet's is a Novato gem, these guys have stuck around forever. The new location is BEAUTIFUL.It's really "groovy" and very "Berkeley". Allot of new staffing, don't really recognize anyone who worked at the previous one, but what ever--- I just like the tea! And the tea is die for! Amazing tea! I got a pot of tea for less than $5 --- killer deal. It's awesome. I don't know how they do it there, but it steeped s nicely-- to perfection. I am HOOKED ON PEETS. Sorry Starbucks--- This Peets is located across the street from the main bus terminal. It's also next to smash burgers and the Shell Gas Station. Loved going in there today. Asked the woman at the register about one of the egg dishes for sale. She told me and I decided that it was too expensive because I had gotten two of about the same size over at Starbucks for the same price. I went to sit down to wait for my coffee. The next thing I knew the woman placed a plate of the warm egg dish at my table and said, "Complements of the house. Try ours!" That was so darn refreshing and it was good! Afterwards someone came over and delivered my coffee, too. How nice! Will go back there again soon! read more

Great coffee as always, but unusually unfriendly staff. I love Peet's coffee as a company. I spend many years living near the original in Berkeley and have always found their staff to be upmost professionals and friendly. It's part of the packaged deal that comes along with the great coffee. On a recent visit to this Peet's location, I couldn't help but feel like an unwanted visitor. From the barely any eye contact that greeted me to the lukewarm service, to my "thank you" being greeted with silence, this recent experience left a bitter taste in my mouth. Perhaps this was just an anomaly, but this was so out of the usual experience ( I go to Peet's once a week to buy beans and coffee) that I had to write About it. I'm kind of sad I have to write this but it's been more than once. I love their food . Better than Starbucks down the street BUT they go so slow and take their sweet time, forget orders , and when you are in a rush they still don't seem to get it. I hope they get better at this . Thanks for paying attention to Yelp reviews. Honestly, I liked this coffee house from the moment I first stepped in. Fresh coffee aroma and the on-spot tasty matcha lattes. Thank you to Ceasar, a young student, who is also etching out a life by serving some coffee art with "lattes w/hearts". Funny thing, he recommended to me the Wild Berry Hibiscus Iced Tea. Don't the yahoos that run this coffee shop realize that one of the reasons people go into the place on a cold winter day is to get warm. I was in there today and the place was freezing - no heat. Then one of the hardly dry behind the ears type that was working behind the counter, leaves with his skateboard and does not shut the door behind him, leaving a cold blast of air coming in on the patrons. My husband and I used to get coffee from Peet's every day for years. For some reason, when they moved to Redwood, the quality of the decaf went down dramatically. The taste variates between water-like and acid. It is truly disgusting, so we started going to Starbucks every day. Today we decided to give Peet's another try, and now I am sitting here drinking watery acid. Gross. I'm giving two stars instead of one because the regular coffee is still OK. I'm just sad because Peet's used to do decaf really well. Now I guess it's back to Starbucks for us. :( EDIT: I just changed my rating to one star after taking a sip of my husband's regular coffee. How much is there to say about a chain store like this one? I'm not much of a coffee drinker/lover but "Peet" seems to know what he's doing. Best place to get coffee. The staff is unbelievably sweet. They always make my day. I go there at least once a week with my friend and they always have the biggest smile. We WERE long time, frequent Peets customers- but this location has homeless people who hang out. This is not a problem when they are paying customers- but when they smoke and harass those who sit in the outdoor seating area IT IS A PROBLEM. Corporate Peets does not want their workers to confront these issues, as I was just told by phone when I called to report this event to their offices. Their employees are supposed to call the police in a case such as this. We went into the store at least 4 times to ask for help and no one knew what to do. We won't be back. read more

The instant you walk in this spot, and get initial interaction with the team here, it'll literarily up the potential of your day. All team members were able to contribute in the production of a killer specialty drink, expressed eagerness to help me with my indecisiveness during the ordering process. even hit me with a large drink instead of the medium I ordered, added extra expresso beans(after asking permission) probably due the fact I was still wearing my sunglasses inside, but in summary, defiantly my new spot. support this crew they are giving the locals here a more comfortable option for a spot to focus and get sh_t done! read more

Kinda dirty store, obviously very busy, but you'd think for the price of a couple of lattes they could pay a janitorial service to come in every couple of hours and clean the place. Restroom was awful. There is also trash behind the window display that is visible from the outside. Espresso was nothing special either. read more

We've been Peet's customers for a long time and will continue. However, the new Novato location leaves lots to be desired. Staff seems inept and confused. Service is slow and unprofessional. If I were Peets management, I'd sign this group up for re-training. read more

Great location. Love the patio that spends most of the morning nicely shaded. But where the hell is the changing table in the bathroom? Per Google, they could bolt one to the wall for about $200. Then I wouldn't have to consider changing my baby's diaper on top of their tables. (I used a friend's car this time, but can't promise for next time!) read more

I've been coming to Peet's for years and have always had great customer service experiences. Last weekend I was trying to put the top on my drink and accidentally knocked the whole coffee over, spilling it all over the counter and floor. While inside the building looks nice an new, the outside seating is awful, and parking is even more of a nightmare. I've personally witnessed 4 accidents in the parking lot already and the store has only been open for two and a half weeks. On top of all of that, in the past few weeks it seems that the average wait time just to order and pay for your drink is between 5-10 minutes, not including the potential 10 minute wait for your drink (depending on business at the moment). While the service is overall friendly, comparable to that of the old location, it seems as if the staff as a whole has lowered the priority of effective and efficient customer service. And just as a side note: calling the police on a homeless woman who barely has clothes on her back for smoking a bit too close to the door is childish and appalling. read more
