Gloria Jean's used to be my favorite! They used to have one at the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton and I loved getting their cookie chiller drinks. Man did I take those for granted or what?! They make the best frappé drinks in my opinion, better than Starbucks. I had been craving a cookie chiller for a long time and I was bummed to see that the only location left in the Bay Area was all the way up in San Rafael. I legit drove an hour just to satisfy my craving haha. The drink was good, but it honestly wasn't made as I remember it to taste. I'm sure it can vary based on who's making the drink. Overall, I'm still happy there's a Gloria Jean's in existence. Please open one in Walnut Creek! read more

Well as I remember some years ago when I worked for Gloria Jeans coffees it was also known to have speciality teas as well I enjoyed working for the owner of Gloria Jeans coffees in the Ontario Mills Mall here in Southern California that was back in 2002 -2006 started as a Barista and ended up leaving as an assistant manager due to the fact that the owner had to close her business she lost 3 stores we had a store and a kiosk in the Ontario Mills Mall and she had another store in the Montclair Mall here in Southern California as well some of these drinks are still the same just changed up on the drink name a little as well as the coffee beans still remember them all maybe they have added a few new drinks since I worked there but all in all still pretty much the same I still know every measurement of every drink cold and hot even the weight measurement on the coffee bean to brew for the day as well as remembering how to make the mocha coffee base for chillers and hot drinks the cup colors have changed a bit as well as the napkin deign I see they have added a few new cups for the holidays all in all you never forget what you have learned after making them every day for four years lol I'm sure they are still all wonderful Drinks Chillers Speciality drinks,hot and cold and a great price for the size of the cups at least that's what I was always told Better than Starbucks better then all coffee houses...Steph C read more

Gloria Jean's Coffees is smack in the middle of San Rafael's Northgate Mall. We stopped by on a recent Sunday morning while in the neighborhood. I was curious: I had never heard of Gloria Jean's Coffees, but the handsome store seems professionally designed from the outside logo to the store interior. I always like seeing if a new coffee shop has something different, something not available at places I usually frequent. That was definitely the case here: Coconut? Pistachio? We were all in! Their iced-blended drinks are called "chillers". I had the Mocha Coconut Chiller while my wife had the Pistachio Creme Chiller. Both were excellent -- as good or better than Starbucks or Peet's. The Coconut was especially tasty and a nice mix with the mocha. But looking them up on the web, there's more to the story of Gloria Jean's. It's an international coffee business, based in Australia as another reviewer mentioned. This San Rafael location is the only Northern California Gloria Jean's; in fact, other than one in Modesto and Burbank, that's it for California. They have a scattering of stores across the US, about 50. But they are in dozens of other countries. Browsing their website I see China, Egypt, Korea, New Zealand, Philippines, Vietnam and several dozen more. Iced vanilla caramel is always my go to! With whipped cream and a caramel drizzle. So yummy. Very sweet, so if you are looking for something to wake you up with a lot of caffeine I would definitely choose something else. The last Gloria Jeans around these parts I love the coffee and all of the choices as far as flavors/blended or iced coffee creations. I was sad when the one in Fairfield closed years ago and was delighted to find this one when I moved to Marin County. They also have a nice little selection of pastries , simple sandwiches and breakfast burritos also. The only thing I don't like is that it opens at 10 am due to it being inside the mall, other than that Gloria Jeans has always had really good coffee! read more

This used to be my go-to place, back in the days of Mervyn's. I lived off coffee chillers. Today, I went in and asked if they could make a white chocolate cherry chiller, something they used to have on the menu. The lady said sure, no problem. I figured it would resemble the other cookie chillers on the menu, with a hint of cherry flavor. Wrong. I got a pepto bismol looking drink, liquidy and not at all like what a cookie chiller should look like. There was another prepared drink on the counter, it looked like a proper cookie chiller. As I grabbed my drink, she didn't even offer me a straw, even though there was one in front of her. She told me to go to the counter on the side for a straw. As I walked away, I heard her say, "this isn't Starbucks.... Looks like pepto bismol." YOU MADE MY DRINK WRONG, that's why it looks so wrong! They just solidified losing my business. Worst customer service ever. I'll drive all the way to Java detour instead, even with a line down the street. read more

I don't shop at Starbucks. It is an evil establishment that multiplies like a cancer and preys on Independent businesses. Gloria Jean's is also a chain, but much smaller, and it based in Australia. Since I'm half Aussie, it's almost like supporting a local place! They have great specialty drinks like the Mon Cheri Mocha. Also the Morning Loaf is a tasty and healthy treat. I would much rather see a small indie place in the area, but that seems unlikely, since Terra Linda is rather strip-mall-ish. But I like the crew here: Zheng and Lupita are very cool and get to know your tastes. I work in the area and quite like stopping by a few times a week on breaks. read more

I came here for Christmas Eve, to do last minute gift shopping. Also I've never been to this mall. I went into this coffee shop for a refresher. The kind and beautiful barista recommended me the strawberry tea lemonade. And it's delicious. I wanted to come in again and buy another one but there was a huge line. Stopped for a quick bite. Must try the white hot chocolate!! Delicious nice and creamy and the whip cream isn't waxing like. The pre made burritos are just as good, made with good quality ingredients. They are pre cooked and they just reheat them for you! Which one would normally get a non flavorful burrito. I've been here on more than one occasion. It's small and not overly crowded. Just to me they are a delightful pleasant surprise. I believe i ordered some type of caramel hot drink (which basically to me is the equivalent to Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha with Caramel). I will revisit whenever I am at Northgate. read more

When I lived in the area, I would grab a coffee drink from Gloria Jeans. Their drinks were always a treat for me. I stopped by recently for old time's sake and ordered up a carmel vanilla blended drink with lowfat milk. It came out SUPER SWEEEET. Next time I'll ask for less sweetness. I ordered a half-caff coffee today around 1p.m. (manager-take note who was working that shift), with a little room for milk. I noticed the (manager-again, take note) young, Asian gal was working use the spout labeled hot water to fill my cup. It seemed strange but then I thought perhaps the spout may have been labeled incorrectly or whatever. Besides,the clerk actually made eye contact with me while she was using the spout labeled hot water so I thought, surely, she wasn't filling my cup with hot water...that would be so bold and blatantly wrong to do that, especially with me watching. The young lady gave me my coffee and I proceeded to go to the condiment station to add some milk. That's when I actually noticed that my coffee was quite transparent. I poured a little into the drip tray supplied to catch dumped coffee and I was shocked to notice it so dilute. It was unbelievable. I think half the cup was simply plain hot water added to half a cup of coffee. I feel completely ripped off and appalled that someone would be so cheap to dilute a cup of coffee. Is the business hurting that bad that they have to scam their patrons? It's unbelievable! I know it's only a cup of coffee, but I feel a bit robbed and will NEVER go there again. It's shady business practice. Unfortunately, I had to hurry on my way and could not take the time to ask to speak to a supervisor, but I am going to call as soon as I"m done typing this. Beware! It seems silly to have to watch to make sure your $1.95 cup of coffee is actually a cup of coffee, but otherwise, it's an expensive cup of hot, tinted brown water. read more
