As an avid coffee drinker. I'm pretty insulted by my experience at this location. I went in around 9:40 this morning and was expecting a different experience since I rarely go to Peet's coffee. I drink cold brew so I ordered a cold brew oat latte to see what it's all about. Patiently waiting for my drink the fella making it is whistling, enjoying his job as a barista I suppose, alright cool. Calls my name and I go get my drink and tell me why this damn thing looks like a cup of milk. I ordered the oat specifically because I'm lactose intolerant. I drink coffee every single day. I put oat milk in my coffee every single day. I know the difference between half and half and oat milk. The way it looks in and outside of coffee. I ask him, "is this oat milk?", he confirms and says yes with a smile on his face all while smashing the milk gallon with a purple label. I know I'm being lied to so I ask for a black cold brew instead, can't mess that up. So I leave and on my way home I call another location to see if the gallon of milk they have with the purple label is half and half or oat. They confirm to me that it's half and half. Why is it that some people have no integrity, especially when it comes to another persons coffee. It's a shame. To think I tipped and paid more for a drink that would have gotten me sick even though I ended up w/ the lower priced beverage. Don't get the matcha here because it tastes like 70% milk. Starbucks is way more consistent. Baristas at this location seem to put no effort or know the proper ratio of the drinks they make. Customer service is also trash. We said thank you after receiving our correct drinks since they made the wrong one in the first place and we got a "mmmhm" back. the microwave food is actually great! The customer service not so much. All I ordered was the sandwich and a water cup, went to use the restroom and when I came back i saw what looked like my sandwich wrapped up to go on the ready counter, so i asked politely if it was mine, and the barista looks over at me as if im an inconvenience to her life. She says "roasted turkey sandwich yes, have a good day" and i said "thank you im just waiting for my water :) " and she says "right we are working on it" in the rudest tone. Her co worker and her go back to gossiping and 5 mins later still no water! i just walked out, how hard is it to get a water cup with ice. Not hard ive worked customer service for 10 years now. When there's no one in line and the store is not busy I would expect customer service to be easy. Highly do NOT recommend the ice fog cold brew. My drink was literally half cold brew, half foam! The description says "whipped ice cold brew" so I thought it would be coldER than cold but it was literally less drink, more foam- why would anyone want that?!? At least put it in a bigger cup?? They really know how to lay down the foam here. Compared to Starbucks, the caramel macchiato at Peet's is more rich, creamy and satisfying. I think one of the reasons that is so is how they steam and foam the milk. They create micro foam when they steam the milk and that foam stayed there well over 15 minutes in my cup which is about how long it took me to get back home. Hence the creamy full flavor. I order the same drink at Starbucks and it lacks the depth, no foam. I ordered both drinks with whole milk so that is not why. read more

I don't get how that happens it's ridiculous. I called them the management team was so unprofessional. They didn't offer to remake the order, fix the issue and didn't even apologize. It was really busy to my surprise. I had my free birthday drink so I went YOLO with my order. Latte, large w/ Soy Milk & 4 Espresso Shots - $4.30 + $.60 + $3.20 - $9.10 - Very good latte. So Josh took my order at about 4:40 PM. I ordered a small coffee and a sandwich. I somehow had the idea that after taking my money he was taking care of my order. He seem to be very interested in his iPhone which doesn't seem like a good idea when one is working behind the counter. After a few minutes I asked if I could have my coffee while I waited for the sandwich to be ready. He checked and there actually was no coffee left in the pot - something he could've checked and been taking care of instead of texting on his phone. Shelly asked him if he had put in the sandwich and he hadn't even done that. Shelly kindle gave me a card good for a free drink of my choice for next time I came in and apologized. I finally got my sandwich and my coffee. Apparently Josh was getting ready to leave but apparently he was ready before his shift was up. read more

I came here almost every day for 3 months to study for an exam, so I've tried a lot of things on their menu. Their drinks are much better than Starbucks and Coffee Bean, especially the quality of their coffee and matcha drinks. The pastries look good but are not in an enclosed casing or have any wrappers around them. I've seen flies in the shop a few times and thought it was gross that they just left their pastries out like that. They should definitely cover their pastries somehow. There's a lot of regulars here - a few people that come everyday as well. Some just sit there to use the wifi without buying drinks which I thought was funny. A few of the regulars acted like certain seats belonged to them, and asked me to move when I was in the seat they liked. That was really annoying since it's a public cafe. A lot of old people come here. They also play a lot of 50's/older music so maybe that's why? The workers were friendly and they lowered the music volume when I asked them to. Parking was always easy. Although I really enjoyed their drinks, I haven't been back since November because doing so would give me PTSD. read more

My drinks are always made perfectly. Once or twice was a small mistake as it was being done by somebody being trained. But the store remade the drink and gave it to me for free. That's great customer service. Besides that, I've had many drinks here, food products too, no problems. Awesome coffee and good food. Great, friendly staff. I left a scathing critique of Starbucks the other day. I was careful to leave the barristas out of my indictment, and instead focus on the corporate missteps of the behemoth franchiser. Peet's does everything right that its mega-rival does wrong. A list: * reasonable volume on the ambient music/Starbucks' blasts theirs at vomit inducing high decibels I can actually have a conversation!! Or write! Or study! Go figure! * reasonable volume with the barristas conversation and making of our drinks/ Starbucks somehow makes their team members scream and clang pans....?? * chairs and tables aren't made of industrial steel, and are actually comfortable to sit in longer than 2 minutes/Starbucks furniture feels like that of a mega theme park concession area that's expecting millions of e-ticket visitors I get it. I really do. Higher volume means more profits, and comfy surroundings encourage loitering (read: McDonalds) But that's what a coffee shop is all about; being a temporary respite and oasis from the hustle and bustle of the grind (no pun intended) that exists just out of the doors. Peet's knows a few visitors are going to "camp out" no matter what, but for those of us who don't mind spending a little more money for snacks and coffee; the inclination to return and honor with business again and again is much stronger when we aren't treated like cattle. That said, the barristas take time to explain the new flavor options....lentil feta vinegrette salad?? Chickory iced coffee? Starbucks could never convince me to try these things with their corporate explosion and overworked staff. read more

Ever since a visit to Lake Tahoe (where Peet's are everywhere), I've been hooked on their hot and iced coffees. This is the only chain that I'll go out of my way to visit. This is a nice location. As were all the Peet's I've visited. There's a nice patio right outside which was perfect. There was a slight breeze flowing through. Nice atmosphere. Nice employees. WOW - their espresso game - YESSSSSSS gives me so much life!!! I have only experienced their Havana Cappuccino and I am a very happy camper. It is perfect hot and cold. I started visiting them to get away from the Sbux revolution (rolled eyes) and I am very pleased and I am spoiled with locations very close to my house. Their staff is kind and while waiting I noticed a community of customers who were regulars--so warm to see. This is my go to Peet's Coffee and Tea, I've been coming here for years. Peet's is a coffee chain which branched out from the Bay Area. The coffee blends tend to be stronger and more deeply flavored than your average coffee out there. Coffee is roasted by hand and in small batches and they have seasonal special blends of beans. Peet's also has a great selection of loose leaf tea. I am usually in here weekly to pick up roasted coffee beans. Our favorites are the Garuda roast which is super smooth, Major Dickinsons house roast and I drink the decaf stuff both the Major Dickinsons and the Sumatra which makes a really good espresso. Peet's offers a complimentary coffee with any bean purchase or a coupon for a drink at a later date, approx. $1.90 value. Service is usually efficient and friendly. One note: The unisex bathroom needs a professional major steam clean, it has smelled funky for years. read more

My first time at Peet's Coffee & Tea and I can honestly say that I've had better. An extra star for effort... I ordered a medium chai latte with soy milk ($3.50 + $.50 for soy). When I first received my order, about an eighth of the cup was frothy... almost like whip cream. I stirred it hoping that it would melt in to the tasteless drink, but it didn't help. I finally asked the cashier who took my order how exactly they made their version of a chai latte. After she explained and I told her that the drink was tasteless, no chai flavor at all, she made me a new one. The second time around the drink was much better because she added an extra pump of chai syrup. I think I'll stick to Starbucks if I can. Since I'm now a gold card holder, I get the extra perk of not having to pay an extra $.50 for soy milk substitution. read more

I used to think the only American coffee spot for me would be Starbucks, but LORD I was wrong! My big sis from APhiO mentioned this place. Wait, scratch that-- she advertises this spot like it's the bessssterest coffee compared to Starbucks. My point of view? She is semi correct. The coffee is definitely different -- a lot more fresh, strong, and easy on the sweetener, which can be difficult to actually adjust to (if you're heavy on the sweetener). I ended up getting the Pumpkin Latte, which didn't taste like pumpkin at all because of the strong coffee taste. Overall, this place is probably pretty decent. I would definitely come here more, if it was closer to me. But I'll definitely be coming back as much as I can! read more

I've been coming to Peet's virtually every morning for the past 10+ years. It's become a ritual and often the best part of my day. I was never really a coffee drinker until then and was new to the coffee culture. I adore this place for many reasons. Of course I love the coffee (delicious every day without exception) and the absolutely incredible staff there knows me and knows what I regularly order and the pastry I get every morning. But every morning they welcome me with a smile and a greeting (by name) that's both genuine and nourishing. I can't name them all but here's a few: Crystal, Ozzy, Marti, Van, Madeline, Jon, Fabiana, April, Emily E, Emily B (sadly no longer there) and Schon (now at the Peet's on Lake Avenue) and many others who are no less wonderful. Compliments to the manager Juan, for hiring such a great group of people. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it's entirely possible (though hard to believe) that some have had a negative experience, but that makes me bristle. I can only say that in the 10+ years I've been coming to this Peet's I have only had the most wonderful experiences. To add to that, I have met so many lovely people there that are also regulars and now friends. I guess you can tell that I adore this place and I am happy to be able to be able to tell them and everyone what a terrific establishment it is. I walked in, with small dog in hand, and was told by one of the baristas that I couldn't bring him in due to health code. Drat. Well, I tried. Came around 5:30pm on a Monday, and parking was okay. Parking here can be hit-or-miss depending on when you go. There wasn't any line in getting coffee, and seats were available. There are tables both inside and out. The outside seating is ideal if seated in the afternoon, when the building's shadow provides shade over the summer heat. Another plus is that there are power outlets by the tables by the wall. The sign in front said that you get an hour of complimentary wifi with drink purchase (didn't get to try out their wifi though). A unisex restroom in the back. Standard place for coffee. Ordered a large iced mocha, and was asked what kind of milk I wanted (this is one of the rare times people have asked me) and if I wanted whipped cream. Nice that the cashier asked. Noticed on one sign that if you bring your own mug or tumbler, you get 10¢ off. Not a bad option if you want coffee or tea in the area. read more

I had the worst day dealing with awful customer service and fee after ridiculous fee that I really needed a break and headed to Peet's for my favorite coffee drink in a "real" coffee cup Vanilla Latte. Patrick was wonderful made me feel like I went to a friends house for great coffee. He was pleasant and courteous and didn't treat me like a number. What a great way to end my horrible day! read more
