Peets is one of the better coffee franchises out there and I love their coffee. For this visit, I tried their matcha green tea latte. The tea flavor was rather weak and I didn't quite enjoy it so much. There was a very subtle hint of matcha flavor. I will stick to coffee at Peets and not order this drink again. I like it, but not love it. Located next to a cuter than cute mall with bars and eateries, once you step inside it feels like any other Peet's. C'mon, you can do better being in Petaluma people! It's fairly large inside, with a lot of seating -- and a few tables and chairs in the front of shop. Service was nice and helpful, but honestly, it felt a little dirty. I was in Petaluma Sunday morning and ordered a small Americano with oat milk. It came to $5.05. I thought that was rather outrageous, but I don't go often. While waiting for my drink, I looked at the displayed menu and saw the drink was $3.65 and the oat mile was 80. cents. That totals $4.50, not $5.05 So I asked the cashier about that, and she said, oh, you wanted steamed milk, so it's $1.40. I said but it doesn't say steamed, it just says oat milk, and she kind of shrugged. I can only presume they're doing these dishonest tactics to other people, and making a buttload of extra money fraudulently. I told her I wouldn't be going to Peet's anymore. Dishonest and theft. I love this place and coffee, especially french roast. Peet's Coffee in downtown Petaluma is a rare gem. The atmosphere is friendly, the staff is very helpful, and of course the coffee is excellent. So in all fairness to Peet's, I wanted to follow up with a positive review for the Petaluma location after leaving a not so nice review for the Novato location. The staff here is ALWAYS friendly and greets EVERY ONE when they approach the register. The coffee and espresso is always high quality and consistent and they ALWAYS thank me when I'm done ordering. If there is ever a line, which there often is, they still greet customers coming in and always let them know that they will be with them as soon as possible. One lazy, Saturday, the boyfriend swept me away to Petaluma. Not for wine tasting, as one might suspect, but for a pop-punk (I think) music concert. \ After a night of drunken debauchery in Oakland, the night before, with some work colleagues, I was quite drowsy and needed a pick-me-up before I could even begin to listen to anything remotely loud. Plus, after the 45 minute car ride the coffee and a little bio-break was mandatory (if ya know what I mean). Luckily, Peet's was quite conveniently located to our parking spot. The young man taking the order was pleasant, but I must admit there is definitely a more "laid-back" quality to this Peet's than others that I've been to (mostly in SF). The vanilla latte that I ordered was just what I needed. What is kinda gross is that there is a KEY for the restroom, which is located in a shared hallway (this Peet's is located in a strip mall). With Peets you have to like, and expect, strong coffee. I've been drinking Peet's for over 15 years now, and like another fan stated, I have gone miles out of the way to get a cup rather than go to Starbucks. I have also been to locations all over the state. I even bought stock when they went public (and did very well by it) because I believe in the company and the quality. I can't stand the Starbucks whole lifestyle and marketing thing they push (music, etc.) and could never tell the difference between the drip coffees...it all tastes the same with them....and is consistently weak in flavor. With Peet's, if the coffee of the day is an African blend, you actually taste the blueberry notes that go with it. The staff at this location is awesome. Now you corporate coffee workers can probably confirm, but I'm sure in the manual it says something about learning the regular customers names and drink choice and addressing them by first name whenever you see them and try to pre-order their drink for them, they do that here too if you like that....and there are LOTS of regulars here... Now, I LOVE Peet's, it's a 5 Star deal all the way...The problem with this Petaluma location is consistency with the drip brewing. Like most places, the coffee is discarded after about 30 minutes and they brew fresh. The staff will almost always discard it and ask if you want to wait for a fresh cup. There was one time where some young newer guy poured me a cup then began discarding the rest in the pot. I asked if I could wait and get some of the fresh stuff and he denied me, saying there was nothing wrong with the cup he gave me. Rather than reach over and pimp-slap this smug 18 to 20 year old and demand a fresh cup, I made note and complained later (course, haven't seen him since...maybe he is at the bottom of a used coffee ground compost pile somewhere or so part-time, he's hardly there- the only bad experience I have had at a Peets). That aside... Unless the coffee is the Colombian or Major D, the other drips always come out tasting over-roasted or "thick" like there was not enough water mixed with the brew, or like it was sitting for longer than it should have. Knowing they are excellent at re-brewing when they are supposed to, I can only conclude it's a brew issue. I only notice this at this location....could it be Petaluma water? Not adjusting the water to coffee ratio for different roasts? I don't know..... PS- Don't go to the Peet's at the new Raley's in Petaluma....horrible!!! read more

This one lady kinda pushed me so she can get her coffee and went back n forth several other times. Coffee fiend, but usually Starbucks loyal... went into Peet's to meet a friend on a quiet Sunday afternoon. I couldn't finish my coffee. I ordered a nonfat latte and couldn't finish it. I just didn't like the flavor. I do like Peet's French Roast drip coffee, but espresso left a bad taste in my mouth. The location should be great but the layout of this one is inconvenient. It was too crowded by the counter where you pick up the drinks (and I should mention that it did take quite a while to get those drinks because they only had two people behind the counter). We could barely hear each other over the noise - the place echoes. So my lesson is to go with drip coffee if I happen upon another Peet's, and sit outside to have a conversation. read more

Of all the Peet's locations in Sonoma that I have been to this is by far my favorite location. The staff is genuinely friendly, their attitudes don't feel fake much like other popular coffee chains. They're selection of vegan cookies and treats is wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect for studying or meeting up with friends. The bathrooms were located down this walkway they shared with other establishments in the same location.
