Ok, I will admit they are a little slow at this Peet's. But, they are apologetic and look as though they may not have enough coverage during peak hours, which is not really the staff's fault. The quality of beverage is on par with what I expect to get at Peet's and the pastry selection is copious and delectable. The seating area is fairly large compared with most Peet's I've been to, but it also seems very popular (hence the line I had to wait in), so better not bank on getting a seat every time. read more

Ordered a medium chai latte & a medium non-fat latte. Got 2 chai lattes instead. Worst chai latte I've ever had (very weak tasting). Took two sips & tossed it. My husband drank most of his, but said he has definitely tasted better - and he didn't even want a chai (he didn't want to have his order corrected and wait again). Bad customer service today. I'm a minority going to a small town so I expect being slighted, but not at a chain like Peet's. I walked into an empty store at 7 pm and stood at the counter for about five minutes before being helped. I stood at register while two staff were busy making drinks for one lady waiting. One staff even looked me straight in the eyes and turned away from me without saying a word while I smiled back. I finally said, is this register open? They made excuses that they were backed up with drinks. I was polite and got my order. They gave me a card for a free drink. As I was leaving, I hear them saying hello to the non-minority people coming into the door. Hard not to feel slighted. read more

Five stars cause I generally like this place. Blond male barista makes the best steamed milk/foam. One older woman never smiles and pleeeeeease stop giving end pieces of bread without asking? I read reviews that said this joint was going to be slow, and was expecting that when I visited for the first time last Saturday morning. Happily, I found the service brisk and the coffee delicious. There were plenty of people in the store and out front enjoying their morning java, but the staff were doing a good job keeping up. I took my cup to go, so I didn't pay much attention to the seating, but did note the morning sun finds its way into the store, making for a pleasant ambiance. I happened to be walking in the same direction in front of me, and he had parked a block or so away, I'm guessing as a result of little on street parking. There are neighborhoods all around, so as long as you're not in too much of a rush, parking there is plentiful. read more

The service is acceptable, although they always seem to be training someone. What bothers me is the first impression: the parking lot is gross - "gak" from a party-night prior; and their front door is nasty. I usually pull my sleeve over my hand just to open it. I'm not a fan of Peet's coffee, but they have some delicious teas here - my favorite non-caffeinated varieties include Peppermint and the Hibiscus blend. The best part - they are open late and you can bring your drink into the movie theater right next door! read more

Terrible customer service. Went in today to buy a pre-packed pound of coffee and the guy behind the counter didn't say hello or any greeting, just told me the total. Nor did he ask if I wanted it ground (I didn't) or if I wanted a cup of coffee (I did). So, I asked for a cup of coffee with room and he presented to me a very full cup of coffee. Instead of dumping the excess in the trash can, I walked over to the barista ("Queen Jasmine" was on her name tag) and asked her after she finished making the drink for the gentleman ahead of me (mind you he and I were the only ones in the shop at this time) to pour out some so I could have room for milk. The way she held that cup of coffee so far away from her was like she had a hot cup of something else handed to her. She sloshed a little of it out and showed me, I asked for a touch more out and her look on her face was one of annoyance. She handed it back and when I said "thank you" her response of "you're welcome" was one of the most sarcastic I've heard. Here's the thing... there is plenty of great places to get great coffee and I don't have to go to Peet's to get it. read more

I really wanted to like Peet's. I've heard great things. But I just have a higher standard than what I've seen here. Maybe other Peet's are better. Maybe. First: it's not clean. There is no uniform or dress code of any kind. And the baristas look a bit greasy. Second: The coffee is way to earthy for my taste. Which is my nice way of saying it tastes similar to dirt. And lastly, the pastries are lacking in the delicious buttery and sugary coating I like with my coffee. Maybe they're healthier. But they're also heavier on the tummy. The servers were all nice. thank you thank you for bringing peet's to petaluma. although it can never replace deaf dog (miss you!), it comes up second-best. yes, the service is SOMEtimes a little slower than the caffeine-infused starbucks baristas, but the coffee shows it; good coffee just takes a little more time. they grind and brew the espresso the way it's supposed to be done, and it actually tastes like rich, creamy espresso.. not a candy bar like some other places that i won't mention.. but already did. the service could be a little faster, but it is always friendly and welcoming. i love the staff and it's definitely worth the (2 minute) wait. read more

First off - east/midwest guy so this was first experience with peets. Also, got here at 10-11 am so no line. Having said that, didn't have any of the issues mentioned on other reviews. Store was tidy and showed well, staff was friendly and helpful. Went with coconut creme latte (hot) and it was excellent. Not too sweet and definitely no syrupy taste. Highly recommend. BLAHK!!!!!!! Who drinks this crap? It is disgustingly strong, murky, over roasted junk coffee. Not good in any catergory. I have TRIED to like something here, but it is impossibly gross. Blended drinks are gross, undrinkable and weird. Coffee is way too strong... and i know what all you Peet's lovers are saying... we like strong coffee. Well there is a difference between properly roasted, well brewed strong coffee and Peets. A Big difference. Try Petaluma Coffee Co... they know how to make a good strong cup of coffee. Peets coffee is so over roasted that all the good coffee flavor is replaced by a burnt taste. BTW... those of you who think you're getting more caffiene in your super strong coffee should be told that there is less caffiene in dark roast... the more you roast coffee, the more caffeine that is removed from it. read more

The Peet's Coffee and Tea in downtown Petaluma is a great place to meet friends for wonderful coffee concoctions and conversation. Service is quick and friendly, the sitting areas are comfortable and the location works great for those fortunate enough to be working around the "old Petaluma" downtown. I am really writing this as a thank you to the company and especially to all staff who do such a great job at consistently making a visit to Peet's an enjoyable experience. I've been a coffee snob for years, and being from Berkeley I truly do love peets, but this peets needs some tlc. The management seems great when they're there, but they need some adult staff here for things to run smoothly, not scantily clad teenage girls clearly being lazy on the job and taking selfies behind the counter. My other major complaint is one of the "sales leads" kail clearly had nail polish on while making my cappuccino, which is a major health code issue, not to mention gross, who wants old nail polish with there drink? read more

Never a line when I am there at 10:30AM. There wasn't even a line on Black Tuesday. Which is bad for business but good for me. I very much enjoy this coffee shop over StarSchmucks ANY DAY! I've come to this Peet's several times and each time was a good experience. Whoever is hiring for this location is hiring very helpful people with good attitudes. I just went there at about 5:30pm, and asked if I could get a medium Mocha that I paid for at the Novato Grant Ave location, but had to leave quickly to get on my bus that arrived well before expected. They probably thought when I left and said, "don't worry about it, my bus is here." As I dashed out, that they took too long to make my coffee, but that wasn't the case, I'm just an idiot and ordered a coffee right before I needed to catch a bus that doesn't let me bring drinks aboard anyway! Regardless, I was wondering if I'd be able to get my coffee I paid for later... The person that helped me and compensated me had a great attitude. I was surprised how easy it was and that she believed me. Anyway, great customer service. read more

The aroma seeps out from the inside to the outside where it lures coffeeholics to come inside and satisfy their addiction. The inside is always clean and orderly, and very strongly scented with coffee beans that have been grinded for customers to take home and brew with. The lighting is decent. I would have to say that for a busy downtown location, the place is very crowded and small in size. It would be a lot nicer, I think, if they expanded to twice the size. I am a fan of their drinks, hands down. The javivas are amazing when you want a blended cool drink during warm days. It's like frappacinos from starbucks, except less sugary, and far more strong. If I am in the mood for a warm coffee drink, I usually ask for a mocha with rasberry in it. If I am in the mood for a warm drink without coffee, I ask for the mayan hot chocolate (not on the menu, you have to ask). It really hits the spot when you're cold and want a warm drink with a little spice! The staff is usually very friendly and helpful. I wish there were more food selections. I also wish they had chairs that are cushioned that are not armchairs (as there are only four and they are always taken). The bathroom is a bit of a journey to get too. You have to ask for a key, and then go through a door that transports you into a long hallway. Then you have to put the key in the door and push. The door feels as if it weighs about six hundred bricks. This is not Pete's coffee's fault, but it kinda dampers the experience if you need to go to the bathroom. The bathroom is not that nice...fair warning. However, this can be a nice place to study, providing you can snatch a table in the busyness of the place. I also have to say that if you need to plug your computer in, it can be hard to get a place to plug in your computer. There are three outlets to my knowledge, and they are often hogged. I would have to say that if you want a more spacious place where you don't have to struggle to find a seat, this is not the place for you. However, if you are just stopping in to get a drink, or meeting a friend briefly, this is a decent place to do it at. If you have a tiny bladder like me and need to pee every 20-30 minutes, this is a no go for you. read more

I walked in yesterday trying to order a couple of drinks and muffins and the two employees completely ignored me while they were both trying to brew a new batch of coffee and talking and giggling together! Not a hello, not a "we will be right with you, nothing! For three minutes I just stood staring at them hoping they would make eye contact! I quit going to this Peet's, which was my favorite some time ago because the quality of my coffee seemed to be declining and I started to visit the Peet's at Washington Square which makes great coffee! Recently however there have been great changes in the downtown Peet's and it has once again become my favorite coffee shop. read more

This barista needs to find a new line of work. Came in, asked for rest room key and was condescendingly pointed to the key. After cleaning up went to counter to order a sandwich and a drink. Was completely ignored by same dude. Within about 30 seconds another customer walked in and he greeted her and asked for her order while I still stood at the counter. I got behind her and walked up to the counter where he looked away from me and muttered something. I kept my cool, ordered my sandwich and coffee. The dude fills my coffee cup so full I couldn't add my requisite cream and had to take it back to the real barista to have some of the coffee poured out. As always, the coffee is great and the sandwich was okay for a cold - case sand. But, really, if ya hate working with the public DONT work with the public. read more
