Location: This coffee spot is a nice location - close to downtown, el camino, parking and farmers market on Saturday. You get a friendly hello when you walk in.. from somewhere in the store. I commend the person who does this because I imagine it could be exhausting after the 15th time. Looking for a place to wait for your drink may be difficult. Very limited space to wait for your drink. Coffee: the coffee is good -- good balance of coffee and sweetness without the over encompassing coffee punch. I like their ice coffee more than I like Starbucks. Summary: good location, wait time sucks, and good coffee. I've been here a few times -- mornings, weekends, and noon -- and the wait seems to be the norm. I come here a lot. Today, as usual, I did a mobile order. Walked my dog and then go wait or pick up my coffee. Today, I waited. It was really quiet I thought maybe I didn't place the order coz you can hear them make your coffee and it seemed like a long time and still nothing on the mobile order table. I got up to ask the barista (who was wiping down the coffee area) she had an order for a chai latte. She gave it to me from the counter behind her. I enjoy the fact that you can get loose leaf teas. However the proportions of tea used and the temp of the water is way off. If you must order it; it's better to get it in person. If it's an online order it does not give you the option to order the tea bag on the side. In order to steep the tea it's a timed thing. Too little and the flavor is amiss; too long and it's bitter and not a good experience; not to mention the water needs to be steeping hot. The cups and covers are not sustainable and I'm not sure why there seems to be a compromise on the vessel which is supposed to carry liquid and hot products which leads to the other problem... the drinks are at best luke warm even when you ask for extra hot! As for the coffee options they are pretty good but I usually go for the tea options. The ambience is as good as any coffee shop. read more

I ordered three beverages. I ordered a large coffee, small fruit tea shaker (strawberry lemon), and a small chai latte with oat milk. I tried to use my credit on the app and the cashier said that I had no credit , but that's not what it said on my end. I was in a hurry and also didn't want to hold up the line. I just paid instead of using my credit. The large coffee dripped all over the place. There was a leak at the bottom of the cup. It made a mess. The coffee and the chai latte was hot. If you go to Pete's Coffee, I feel that you're going for one of two reasons. Either you are nowhere near another coffee place/Starbucks and want coffee right away OR you want a more relaxing, soothing environment to enjoy a cup. I like this place for the second reason, but came here for the first. It's such a nice change of pace compared to Starbucks. The environment is peaceful. It's how I imagine a cup of coffee should be at home without any kids or distractions. It also makes for the perfect place to get some studying or work done. The variety of menu items is limited in regard to drinks. They offer the basics of coffees and teas. They also have hot chocolate. If you like extravagant drinks or frappuccinos, I would not recommend it. If you're looking for a simple cup of coffee, perfect. The staff behind the counter were very helpful and relaxed. It was a very personal and welcoming experience. The hot chocolate I ordered was good and served with a healthy helping of whipped cream. read more

I came here this morning and ordered Matcha green tea latte with unsweetened. It feel so warm and not too hot to sip. That was great especially with temperature 37 Fahrenheit. The cashier was nice, he asked me any sweetness for my tea, and I was really appreciate when he asked. Because sometimes I might forget to mention that. This review is not for the quality of delicious coffee at Peet's, but for the staff member who clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed and was SO unnecessarily rude and condescending to me this morning on 2/14/22 at 11:00 am for absolutely no reason. I order, pay, sit down, and wait for my coffee to be made, and then hear someone holler out my name. I go up to the barista, and because there was no label or anything on the drink, just wanted to confirm that my coffee was made with oat milk rather than regular milk because I am allergic. People make mistakes sometimes so I just wanted to clarify with the barista. I ask in a polite tone to clarify if this was my oat milk drink, and to my absolute shock, she rolled her eyes and said "YES" in the most annoyed voice. I say "Okay, thank you" as I got my answer, and then she loudly asks her other coworkers "She just asked me if the drink was made with oat milk. What kind of a dumb question was that???" Clearly loud enough for me to hear her complain about me before I've even turned around. I go up to her and let her know that I have an allergy, and that mistakes have been made before, so I just wanted to clarify. She had the audacity to talk back and doubled down on her rudeness: "Oat. Milk. It's made with oat milk. Like, it's in the name," clearly disregarding what I had said about accidental mixups with my drinks in the past. I glared at her because I was so stunned that someone would be so condescending to me simply because I clarified something as benign as "Is this my oat milk coffee?" I stood there, stunned, and then she very sarcastically asked, "Is there anything else you need? Ok bye" which was equivalent to her telling me to fuck off with her miserable tone. The three other staff members just stood there and watched this happen. Needless to say I will not be returning to this location again. I do empathize with retail workers who are probably overworked and underpaid, but this level of rudeness was absolutely unwarranted. I can safely say I've never met anyone who was so outwardly aggressive and miserable toward a stranger in my life. Wow, just wow. She really ruined my day. read more

After reading Jordano's recent review for Peet's Coffee and finding out that their founder recently passed on, I thought I'd give my own props to the best coffeemakers in the bay area. When I first moved to San Francisco, my roommate Earle introduced me to Peet's. He was a Peet's fanatic; it was the only kind of coffee he'd buy. I thought he was insane. My first impression was.... Jesus... this is like... drinking coal! I was still the kind of coffee drinker that Earle didn't consider a REAL coffee drinker - meaning, I didn't like it black. Taking the same "so-not-cool" approach as I did during my wish-i-could-erase-it "nicotine phase" (french inhaling, buying menthol or a generic brand), I drank Maxwell House. I used crystals. I liked cream and sugar. Earle didn't want to acknowledge we were actually roommates. So yeah, it's true, I didn't like the taste of Peet's at first. It was SO STRONG. But after a few months, I was hooked. It has such a unique taste. There is something about being a Peet's coffee fan that makes you feel like you're in this hip club. It's like going to a Liz Phair show. You and all the other fans know how cool you are just for being there. That's right, baby.... we like it strong.... we like it dark... we know the good sh*t... When I was working for an investment firm, years back, they announced one day that they'd be switching to Peet's coffee for all the employees. I have to admit... that's probably one of the reasons I stayed at that job longer than I should have. The Redwood city location has nice people working there... at least, they did when I went a few months back. I remember being really impressed by the gal with curly brown hair who got my coffee but I didn't get her name. She was super friendly and helpful - without being annoying. It's a careful balance, especially when you're probably wired on 4-5 cups of leaded java. Farewell Alfred Peet. If I could give zero stars I would. There were flies all over the food. When I brought this to the attention of the man working there his response was, "we know. We have been trying to figure out what we could do like clean better." As I watched the woman behind me purchase a pastry that had been covered in bugs moments prior... I informed another associate and let her know what had happened she said she would make sure it was rectified and the customer did not get the pastry. The cashier who took my order, an old lady with pink/white hair, is extremely rude and condescending. I asked if I can try and use my Peet's mobile app to pay, and she responded, "You did not do it correctly anyways because you should have told me." My friend and I have have been coming here since they opened this coffee shop. We decided to meet at this location 2 days ago for a meeting. We stayed for about an hour and then we decided to use the restroom before we leave. My friend asked manager if he could use the restroom and she said no it's only for the staff. But my friend of over 65 said he had to use it and the restroom was available so as he tried to enter the Asian lady who's the manager was holding onto the door and blocking him. My friend told her look there's no sign saying it's only for staff and he was going to use the restroom. She then physically pushed him and he's elderly. As we walked out of the coffee shop they were yelling at us in front of other customers. I was shocked how rude and unprofessional this staff was. I think corporate needs to review the cameras. Once we were outside I wanted to call police but my friend said he would file a complaint. There was a Latino going guy staff that saw and heard it all as well as I. The three baristas stood behind the counter talking about my request for a cup of water to go with my americano. I could hear the whole conversation... It was passive aggression towards a paying customer. They never addressed me with their issue- so technically I don't know why I shouldn't have asked for a cup of water with my $4.00 espresso drink- they also never notified me that my drink was ready. If I owned this Peet's- I would be devastated by the quality of customer service. If I was manager I would consider this a reflection of my managerial skills- and also be devastated.
