Albacore Tuna Melt Toast, Egg Salad Toast, Avocado Toast
    Alice N.

First time at the San Carlos location! We came on a Friday morning around 10:15an on a holiday and it wasn't too busy, though it started to get busier as the morning went on. We all ordered different toasts and they were all good! I got the tuna albacore melt toast and enjoyed it. For something sweet, we shared the strawberry waffle, which surprisingly tasted better than it looked. I also tried the iced vanilla bean iced latte and liked that as well. Overall, I'd come back! It seems like a good spot to catch up with friends.

Great place with good food! The service was also good, and I really like the atmosphere. My only issue is that the music was way too loud, making it difficult to have a conversation or get any work done, on top of the normal background noise from people talking. I really like this place, but I'm not sure I would recommended to work because of the noise level.

I love the ascetics of Mints and Honey! Great food with unique toast and waffle options! The service has always been great with considerate staff. The ambiance is always lively and fun with a mix of business professionals and family and friend outings!

We went here for breakfast. The place has a nice, cute vibe to it. The menu items are innovative, but the taste was alright. They got very busy and it took some time to get our food.

i came here years ago and remembered really enjoying the experience, especially that it felt like a really girly place to hang out. fast forward to april 2026, i chose this venue for brunch with my girlfriend and we had a great couple of hours catching up over yummy girly comfort food. you order at the counter, they give you a number then bring your food out to your table. the guy who helped me out was very helpful esp since i had many questions about the menu items and ingredients. my friend ordered the berries & yogurt waffle topped with beautifully coloured berries and a mound of yogurt. i should've taken a pic of her dish before she devoured it! i ordered the sampler toast with avocado toast, mango tajin, tomato mozzarella and creamy mushroom & egg. honestly, all of the options sounded divine but i had to limit myself to 4! i took my time savouring all these savoury scrumptious toasts, the perfectly ripe avocado, fresh balls of mozzarella, soft boiled egg, and flavourful mushrooms. i ended with the mango so that i could have something little sweet to end my meal. we absolutely enjoyed our saturday morning here and if you're reading this get on over to mints & honey and have yourself a nice morning!

I wanted some semblance of an afternoon tea spread for my Bridgerton marathon and Mints & Honey came in clutch! I did not dine-in but picked up to go. I felt the scone price was too high but it was perfect. A good crunch on the outside with fall apart softness on the inside. Perfect texture and flavor. The house cream and strawberry jam paired perfectly. Can't have afternoon tea without a good scone! I'm still drooling thinking about the grilled cheese & tomato soup. Havarti cheese was delicious and i love the basil added to the soup. Prosciutto sandwich was good but I only got a bite while my partner inhaled it haha. Drinks were great too. Loved that the rose milk tea came with petals. Everything was packaged well and I will definitely be returning.

The cutest brunch spot! I recommend parking near the back because this is where you order your food/drinks before you sit down. The line can get long and extend out past the outdoor seating area. They're known for making good coffee, and they use Verve. As you can tell by my photos, I've been here many times and always have a good experience. My favorite food-wise has to be the avocado and egg toast. The sour batard bread has the perfect chew, and I love the soft boiled egg on top. The food is always plated beautifully. This place can get pretty crowded, so they ask that you don't bring laptops on weekends and holidays.

My friend had planned the whole day planned for us. It was high tea at Mints & Honey in the morning and then half a day at Filoli Gardens. But I guess something changed since the last time she dined here. The menu, which isn't available on their website, stated afternoon tea was pre-order only. Turns out reservations have to be made at least 2 days in advance if you want afternoon tea. This includes tea for 1. So that was disappointing to hear. It would be nice if that was stated on their website. So I sorta made my own high tea. I ordered the chicken curry toast, a blueberry scone and added creme and jam for an extra cost, and a cup of Earl Grey tea. Tea for 1 is $29, and my meal with tax and tip was $33. It was pretty good! The chicken curry was bright and savory. I liked the pop of sweetness from the grapes. The toast was thick with a crispy crust and chewy interior. It was hard to cut with a butter knife, so I removed the curry so I can bite into the bread and get the chicken afterwards. And it was a good amount of chicken as it was piled pretty high on the toast. The scone was good as well. It's more wide than tall, but buttery soft with a nice freshness from the blueberries. And it was still warm even after taking my time eating the toast. Since I had to pay extra for the creme and jam, I used as much as I could lol. And it wasn't overly sweet. The Earl Grey was good, too. The menu said it was award winning. I'm not a tea connoisseur, but it was a delicious tea that I would get again. I like that we can seat ourselves and that ordering happens with the cashier. That is so helpful when you're in a group so everyone can pay individually. There's seating inside and out, though it was cold so I'm glad we got to sit inside. There are booths and smaller tables, so parties of any size can fit. Service was quick and friendly. We got our food pretty fast, though my scone did take awhile. Which I'm thankful for because, as I said, it was still warm after I finished my toast. The playlist was interesting and eclectic. I heard TikTok favs to indie rock to 90s pop. I would like to come back to try their waffles, and maybe high tea if I remember to order ahead of time.

Came here for brunch on a late Friday morning and the place was popping! Very cute decor, aesthetic cafe vibes with some vintage inspiration (like that Smeg fridge on the barista side). It's clearly a popular brunch spot for good reason. There was no wait to walk to the registers in the back to order and choose a table. Our iced salted caramel lattes came out in 10-15 minutes, and the rose + strawberries waffle came out another 15-20 minutes later. The wait didn't feel bad because we were able to sit and relax with our coffees. The iced salted caramel lattes were VERY good. All the caramel at the bottom needed to be mixed in to the coffee, but I loved that it had great flavor and wasn't a sugar bomb. I could drink three of these! As for the rose and strawberry waffle--my goodness it was so delicious. The waffle itself was nothing to write home about, but the combination of rose jam, fresh strawberries, organic yogurt, lemon zest and crushed pistachios was pure perfection. I didn't need to use the syrup at all. I would 1000% order this again. This cafe is super cute and has so many yummy menu options, it's a worthy contender for best breakfast/brunch spot in the area!

Was looking for a lunch spot and came across a picture of their waffles and I was in! I am SO glad we ate lunch here. The grilled cheese was toasty and cheesy and went perfect when I dunked it in the soup! The waffle did not disappoint! I can't wait to come back and try other items!

Toast sampler with 1. Avocado and egg 2. Fig and ricotta 3. Creamy mushroom and egg 4. Smoke salmon
    Stephanie L.

Cute cafe that gets quite busy. Came here for lunch on a Thursday and the place was packed. There are both indoor and outdoor seating and you can enter from either the El Camino or back entrance. I tried the toast sampler with four different toppings; favorite two were 1. the salmon and 2. the fig and ricotta. Avocado and egg was good (like that the hard boiled eggs are cooked just right, and not overdone) as well but I typically prefer my avocado not mashed up. I really didn't enjoy the creamy mushroom much and would skip this next time. Coffee options were good. My friend got the rose latte and I got the vanilla bean latte. Service is friendly and efficient.

Came back and this time sat inside. It's a great spot, but I quickly remembered why mostly avoid Mints and Honey - the indoor spotlights. Outdoor seating is nice, but if you're a table inside, it's a little hit or miss if you'll get a spotlight shining in your face. I never understood why they have the spotlights, given all the natural lighting from the windows. Other than that, it's a great little café spot with a decent menu. It's cute and spacious, drink and food come out quickly, and all the staff is very friendly.

This is a cute brunch spot in San Carlos. I went here a few years ago and forgot how it went so I recently went back and tried it again. There is a lot of seating inside as well as some outside. There are self serve water stations. The food here was just ok. I tried the tomato and ricotta toast and I felt like it was fine. It was a little pricey at $10 and I felt like it could have used some salt so I added some myself. The flavors were fine but nothing outstanding in my opinion. Sometimes I've had ricotta that tastes super good and fresh and I didn't quite get that feeling here. I also tried a Nutella latte. It was $7 which is a bit pricey but at least the cup was big. I thought the drink was tasty but I don't think I would get this regularly. The acoustics in the main part of the cafe were kind of poor. I felt like I had a hard time hearing anything in there so it was a little difficult to hold conversations. I think it's because the ceiling feels a bit low so there's nowhere else for the sound to travel. Sitting in the back outside area was cool the last time we went.

Ask the Community - Mints & Honey

Do you have to pre-order the tea set?

We have afternoon tea all day!

What are the delivery options? I can't find this on Uber Eats or DoorDash

They are not on delivery platforms.

Do they take reservations on Thursday or first come first serve?

No reservations unless you are booking the whole place for an event. I've never had a problem finding a table.

    Dog friendly patio?

Yes, we've eaten in the patio with our dogs.

    Is there dedicated parking?

No, unfortunately there's not. There's nearby El Camino and Laurel street parking

Is Mint & Honey currently open for outdoor dining for breakfast? Is it possible to walk in or do they take reservations?

Yes it's open for outdoor dining and no reservations needed!

Do you still have outdoor seating?

Outdoorseating was not open a week ago

Do they have Wi-Fi?? Is this a good place to study?

    Yes they have wifi

We have a party of five for this Saturday, is it possible to get reservations?

I don't think they take reservations. They are like a cafe. There's plenty of room inside and outside. The lines get long in the morning though, especially around 10. They ope quite early. Noon shouldn't be too bad either. The best time to go…

Are people with nut allergies able to eat here?

They serve peanut butter and they have almonds on their waffles. Their foods don't have any peanuts in them but. I'm not sure about foods touching each other in the kitchen.

    Is the milk tea sweet?

I didn't think so (I don't like sweet) but probably depends on which tea you have. I had earl grey.

How often are the toys in the play area cleaned?

    once a week

Is the playroom really open until only 12pm?

We were kicked out at noon on a weekend because they were setting up for a private event in the afternoon.

Does Mint & Honey have gluten-free options for brunch? Like gluten free bread?

Yes now they have gluten free breads and waffle

I am from Oakland and have become a total food snob with our bounty of riches in that town. Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out so I have a lot of places to compare this to and this place is easily in my top 10 if not top five. I ended up getting the avocado toast which sounds so basic but the chipotle mayo was delicious, and the ratio of spinach to avocado to egg was exactly right and then the buttered delicious sourdough completed it. I decided to order an emotional support pancake, and it's one of the best pancakes that I've ever had. Maybe it's sourdough? It's got a really delicious complex sour note to it and it's beautifully brown. I'm also really picky about coffee and the coffee was delicious. The food is good, though not consistently mind-blowing. If you order the right dishes, it can be excellent, but there is still some room for improvement. The cinnamon specialty coffee was quite good. The regular coffee was darker and more bitter than I expected. The Nutella latte tasted a little too syrupy. I think using real Nutella would give it a richer, more authentic flavor. Overall drink experience (3.5/5). The avocado toast was tasty, especially the chipotle mayo. However, there was far too much spinach on top, which overpowered the avocado toast and eggs Benedict. The side salsa was also too spicy and could be toned down a bit. Reducing the spinach and heat would make the dish feel much more balanced. Overall 3.5/5. The standout was the berry French toast. It was heavenly and absolutely delicious, an easy 5/5. The omelette burritos were great too lacked a bit of sauce inside but solid 4/5 Overall, Eskina is a promising new restaurant with a great atmosphere and genuinely pleasant staff. I will definitely return more on the Sweet side rather than savory.

We wanted papusas and Comalito came up with spectacular reviews and was open (at time of writing,…read morethey open Fri-Sun)! Food and service were great. Food ordered: Yucca fries on the house! 1. Plantano Fritas (4/5) I love a plantains and these were delicious and less oily than other which I appreciate! Personal preference is a I prefer a little more sweetly caramelized plantains, but I did really enjoy this. The dish comes with a white creamy sauce and a refried bean dip - both yummy and not overpowering in flavor. Papusas: Lots of flavors to choose from! And in general, for all the papusas, the papusa batter is wonderful and the porportion of filling to papusa is perfect. 2a. Calabaza Papusa - mixed cheese + zuchinni (4/5) This was the most cheesey papusa, where the cheese was the heavy lifter. I enjoyed it and every bite had a nice cheese pull too it. I would have liked to see a little more zucchini green, and for it to add to the textures. 2b. Frijol y Queso Papusa - mixed cheese + refried beans (5/5) My favorite! Can't go wrong with a bean and cheese papusa and this was so so good. I recommend this classic pairing of flavors anywhere. I was thinking about this papusa for days. 2c. Chicken Papusa - mixed cheese + chicken (5/5) This was also really good. the chicken is mixed in with the cheese, so every bite has both, which was nice. There was also a lovely seasoning which balanced all the flavors beautifully. 3. Churros: This usually comes with vanilla ice cream, and the server warned us they didn't have any in stock. We were fine with that because we love churros. When we were complete with our papusas, they served us our churros and surprised with apple slices instead of ice cream which was a lovely touch. Parking: There is no designated parking lot that we have found, but the public 2 hour parking lot 2 blocks over on Second Ave! Overall, we really enjoyed our experience at Comalito. The hardest hurdle is parking, but once you find the public parking lot a couple of blocks over, it was easy to find and gives you a little exercise before you eat!
