This is an update from my review from nearly two years ago. I've found Peet's to be getting a bit more and more mediocre as time goes on. Their pastry quality has gone a bit downhill and the coffee is more or less the same as Star Bucks. I prefer other mom and pop coffee shops nowadays. Also, their free wifi is no longer really "free". You have to buy something and then they will give you a wifi key that is good for one hour. Not a very good place to hangout if you need to do some work or study. read more

It's a cute coffee house - and the coffee is good. They have plenty indoor and outdoor seating, and plenty of parking. Prices are good, people are nice, but the single line gets very long in the morning. read more

I like this Peet's a lot. I only wish it had been there when I was younger so I could have gone there rather than Starbucks. I'm a minimalist and I love that their fresh tasting brewed coffee is always great at this location. I know they have to re-brew at certain intervals throughout the day no matter what, but at some locations this doesn't yield perfection. Also, they are very quick. Although in general I would encourage locals to instead visit places like The Bean Scene, Palace Cafe and Coffee-n-More on Murphy St in downtown Sunnyvale this installation of Peet's is not bad at all. I have visited a few times now, and have found the staff to be very courteous. Those staffer that I've spoken with are also quite well versed in their coffees - had an interesting discussion of the merits of cold-brewing vs. French press the other evening - which is a nice improvement over a typical Starbucks experience. Their brewed coffees have been quite good, and my wife gives a big thumbs up to the peppermint mocha special. read more

Extra dark roasts are my favorites kind of coffee beans. I'll take a French or Italian Roast any day over a whoosy medium roast which I know has more caffeine. I like this Peet's Coffee and Tea because it is convenient to get to, the staff is quick (mostly) to make my drinks and the coffee is strong. I love strong coffee and I am very afraid. You know how you need more and more taste as you get older, and the things that used to be OK are now sorta bland? Well, I have this fear that as I get older (and I plan on getting very old) what is good today will be weak in the future. I can see me in the very very distant future shuffling in to Peet's asking for a cup full of espresso shots on top of an inch of fresh grounds. Or just asking for a pound of coffee beans and eating it like popcorn, mumbling and grumbling "not strong enough. Not strong enough" Where were we? Oh. The present as in now. My faves are the brewed schtuff with cream, and every once in a while I will splurge and get a Mocha. And a pound every week or two to brew at home. Yum. read more

This used to be my go-to Peet's location, but...times have changed. There's now too many restaurants at this location, so even getting a coffee near lunchtime requires parking at the Total Women's gym spaces all the way across the lot. So, minus 1 star for loss of convenience. The latter part of the morning (~ after 9 a.m.) is still ok from what I recall. On the upside, the walking is still better than standing around waiting at Specialty's, where seemingly nothing is getting done even when 3-4 people are standing near the vicinity of registers and coffee machines. The place is a bit difficult to get to because of it's location and the street layout, but this surprisingly spacious cafe has all the great accouterments that we all expect from Peet's, nice outside seating, lots of big windows, and an extra-helpful staff. Free internet with the stupid Peet's-only password system that requires a password printed on a slip of paper that, if you forget, could waste a lot of time on a busy day with long lines. This, plus the lack of healthy snack options keeps any Peet's from achieving 5 stars...two things that would be rather easy to correct. read more

Every time I come here, I have received great, fast service, the full attention of kind baristas, and delicious coffee or tea! Lines can be long at times (depends on when you stop in) but the wait is never more than a few minutes. I tried the Caramel Freddo with soy for the first time yesterday, and was happily surprised. If I'm not getting a coffee on the go I usually sit outside, enjoy the sun, and people watch. There's patio umbrellas in some of the tables and also some trees for shade. The only downside is that this Peet's is a bit of a walk to get to, but is still within walking distance. I secretly wish that it would switch locations with the Starbucks near my house, then it'd be a 5 minute walk away! :p But regardless of distance, a great coffee shoppe! read more

This place pistol whips Starbucks, tosses it right on the curb, and let's everyone know that they mean business. Although I've been to a few Peet's now, this was actually the first one I was in. I think they do a great job, and seeing as how enough has been said of the quality of the products below, I'll use this space to mention the major differences, in list form, between Peet's and the local Starbucks: - The barista's at Pete's versus 'Bucks, have a much greater grasp of the english language, which helps when labeling drinks and getting orders right. - Unlike the shoot-me-now-I-wish-you-and-me-and-this-store-were-dead looks I receive from the 'Bucks workers, the Peet's folks seem slightly happier, go figure. Maybe they pay more? - Peet's bathroom doesn't appear as if someone were murdered in it. I mean, honestly, I know that it's the worst assignment to clean the bathrooms, but, goddamn you 'Bucks workers--man up! - Peet's uses nicer quality wood in their establishments than 'Bucks. read more

Jessica and Spencer NEED their good cup of coffee in the morning, it is very obvious when this does not happen. Jessica ends up not running that day, or doing anything really, and she gets even more bitchier than usual. Spencer just starts grunting even more than usual and refuses to speak or cooperate till he has that coffee cup in his hand. Now that the importance of coffee in our lives has been established, I will move on to my appreciation for Peet's Coffee in a Starbucks and McDonalds cafe world. Ok I am not really a coffee snob, hell I have had Jack N Box coffee and actually really like it for a cheap cup in a hurry. However, I like to think I can tell the difference between a crappy cup of coffee as apposed to a nurtured and loved steamy serving. Peet's really is a treat for all of my senses...really...all of them. Evertime I visit this particular location, the closest one to our apartment, I right away notice the yummy aroma of espresso beans. I just love the feel of the place too, trendy but sophisticated. The dark colors, cozy chairs, large windows and coffee supply lined walls make me want to pull up a chair and laptop and waist the day away. The customer service is great, they really know their coffee and sound like they enjoy their jobs, that sets a great atmosphere for the rest of us. I love their coffee, it is rich, tasty, and you really can taste the freshness of it. When we shop there, for at home coffee, I can pretty much ask them any questions about the bean, where it came from and what kind of taste it provides. Each time I am surprised and happy with their knowledge. Reminds me of when I worked at Starbucks eight years ago, when I had to go to one month of coffee training before even setting foot in the door. Thank you Peet's for a good cup of Joe. read more

I have NEVER had such terrible customer service in any business anywhere. The girl, Chrissa making my coffee was incredibly sloppy and inattentive. She filled the drink to the top with it spilling down the outside of the cup, didn't give me a lid, didn't wipe it and just walked away. I am appalled by this service. Furthermore I had very poor service at your San Jose airport location a year ago. I reached out to you via email and despite a reply there was NO resolution to this problem. I will never endorse Peets again and I will be sure to steer my friends and family away from such an irresponsible company. read more

This place pulls some of the best espresso I've had. No joke, I thought it was a fluke the first few times I've had it. Classic 3 tone crema, not watery, nice flavor. I give this Peet's 5 stars - it has the great customer service the company is known for and the most delicious Mocha Freddo of any Peet's I've been to thus far. I agree that supporting the local coffee shops is the best way to go, but I can't help stopping by this clean chain to have a yummy blended drink or some seriously good coffee. Proof positive - as I was walking out of the store sipping my Mocha Freddo I thought to myself "what an awesome idea it was to get some coffee after going to Trader Joe's" and suddenly, a man walking his dog said to me, "That sure looks good ..." See? Even he knew! In any case, this Peet's has ample seating inside for chatting with a friend and has some outdoor seating as well. This is the friendliest and most competent Peet's I've been to. The staff never gets my order wrong, albeit I'm not really making it difficult for them by ordering a large coffee with room. But still, they give me the *correct* amount of room! They're smiling, helpful, and some of them have awesome-looking and colorful tattoos. Once I was adding some sugar to my coffee and another patron bumped into me, causing my drink to splash all over my hand. Oh, the burning. Within seconds, one of the Peet's employees was there with a cold towel! Being here is like living in a coffee utopia where I'm floating on a steaming sea of Garuda, head resting on a pillow filled with finely ground Major Dickason's. Parking is the only headache during the lunchtime rush, but as soon as you step in, you'll get a high quality product with even higher quality service. This shop is a staple in my weekend lunch caffeine fixation. read more

I met a colleague here. The place was bright and clean, and the staff was friendly and joked around with us. We got our drinks rather quickly, and the entire transaction was pain free and pleasant. You know the area you're in is pretty good when there's a Peet's Coffee located just down the street from your hotel room! This is no exception! This Peet's is not in some strip mall or shopping center but it's own entity. The coffeehouse is located on the busy El Camino but it was surprisingly very quiet inside the store. Very bright, clean, spacious, and of course the coffee was top-notch! A very comfortable place to just chill and enjoy a cup of pure jet-fuel goodness! Free one-hour Wi-fi upon request although I would prefer Peet's to have unlimited Wi-fi service. Baristas were very friendly; if a table needed bus-sing they waste no time in wiping it down or sweeping the floor. One of the better Peet's Coffee I've been to! read more

The staff is friendly here, but it's still Peets, which means I generally expect and receive mediocre coffee. I ordered a cappuccino and ended up with enough milk for the drink to qualify as a latte. The staff was friendly, but didn't seem to know how to properly make a cappuccino and the beverage was only warm, and not hot. I got a generic pumpkin spice latte and the cashier was nice. I got my latte within a few minutes and found a nice table near a wall outlet. It was a good latte, I didn't have to add anything like I do at Starbucks. I've noticed the wifi is terribly slow, and goes in and out. Steaming for me was not possible on my macbook pro. I had to use my phones hotspot. . Minus a star for that. This place is secluded enough so its not too packed.. On a Sunday night at 8pm. AAAAARRRRRGH!!!! Hey Peet's, the 90's called. They want their internet speed back. It really pains me that I cannot rate you 4 or 5 stars.... I like your coffee and tea. But wifi these days is like chair and tables on your patio--table stake for any coffee shop. A coffee shop with rusty, broken chairs, no matter how amazing their service and coffee be, would get at most a 3 star. So here you go. I'm not a coffee drinker at all, so this might not be the greatest idea for a review. However I am a huge fan of hot chocolate and iced teas. Every time I order I ask for a peppermint hot chocolate (yes, I'm an adult) and every time I've had it, it was great. I always ask for extra peppermint and they always accommodate me (and the whip cream topping is a plus. Yes I'm an adult) They also have some good iced teas. I don't order them enough because I'm fixated on the peppermint hot chocolate...even during the summer. Parking can sometimes be tough here but there is also a ton of things 'to do'. There's a Big 5, a pizza shop, Daphne's (awesome greek food) Trader Joe's (you're already here...might as well do some grocery shopping). This is my favorite Peet's :) The inside is clean and comfortable and the patio area is lit up perfectly on sunny days. More importantly, they make good drinks! I've never had to ask for a drink revision, nor have I had to wait too long to get a drink. Also, one of their workers (Camille) calls me by name and remembers my drink. And believe me, my name isn't the easiest thing to remember. She's very sharp and the other workers are definitely pleasant and helpful. read more
