It was really good, I forgot to ask for less sweet and surprisingly it wasn't overly sweet. Service was berry quick (I was the only one in line) and friendly. Cowboy Coffee is in a mixed use space that houses a church on the weekends but has an open area for coffee making and hanging out. They have a number of tables and chairs for you to relax at. They only have one menu and it's on the front counter at the cashier so you have to either wait to make your decision at the front or go up and take a picture of the menu first. Butterscotch Latte - Since the pistachio foam was out of season, I went with the Butterscotch Latte. I like the coffee bean flavor and I liked the butterscotch too, but felt it could have just been a tad stronger on the butterscotch flavor. I like my creamed coffees a little bit sweeter so I had to ask them for a little more simple syrup on top since they don't have a sugar stand. Super cute hidden spot in Sunnyvale! We went when it was raining out and they had moved indoors, so there was a lot of space to sit and work with some really cute holiday decorations! The menu all sounded great and it was hard to pick which one to get, but the baristas are super friendly and insightful. They even gave us a free eggnog latte! I'm very serious about blueberry matcha. I'm obsessed with the one at Café Dulce in LA, so finding one in the Bay that I actually like felt impossible... until Cowboy Coffee. This spot is tucked behind City Sports Club in Sunnyvale and is such a little gem. The drinks are amazing, and they always have fun seasonal options (ever had a Mexican cookie latte?! they're so creative). There's lots of tables and outdoor seating, and there's plenty of grass for you to lay a picnic blanket and catch up with friends. It's peaceful in the early mornings, but heads up-- it can get pretty busy with longer lines later in the morning on weekends. Still 100% worth it. Will definitely be back! read more

This isn't a typical store, but a stand that is actually right behind the city sports gym I go to so quick and easy to get to for me. Such an interesting combination that just happens to go together so well! The blueberry foam almost seemed to bring out floral notes in the matcha. You'll find an outdoor playground as well as a long line of customers so it shouldn't be too hard to spot. Seating is outdoor only and its really more like a kiosk rather than a storefront. The matcha drinks here also seem equally popular among the crowd. There's an option to add a cream top foam to any iced drink including blueberry, vanilla or their seasonal flavor. In addition to the drinks, theres pastries and Stan's donuts available for purchase. They seem to sell out quick on the pastries around 11 am or so. Matcha latte ($6) with vanilla foam - Matcha was strong and smooth blended with the whole milk. The vanilla foam was light but added extra richness- texture was nice and not too thick. The matcha color was bold and dark green so the quality seems good. Butterscotch latte ($6) just as described on the menu, this drink was sweet but not too sweet. The toasty buttery butterscotch flavors shined through beautifully. Although the lines may look long, they move fairly fast. Cowboy Coffee is great to enjoy a cup of coffee/matcha on a nice warm day, especially with your pup. read more

I have been so excited to try this place, but unfortunately it failed to meet my expectations. It was packed on a Saturday around noontime. We were shocked to see how many people were there -- it had the same feeling as people dawdling after church, which is funny because this place is located behind a church. I think I got unlucky with my cream top because it was straight up milk with a bit of syrup. It was super watery and lacked both texture and substance. If you look at the photo it looks sad. The drink overall was also super watery and not memorable. My friend's matcha was gritty but it was very strong -- there's no milk in it at all but it looks creamy enough to have it. The matcha was more floral than I was expecting and her blueberry cream top was way thicker. The baristas were very nice, though! I love a good coffee place and this is one of my go-tos in Sunnyvale. I find it intriguing that their outdoor set up is behind CitySports and a bunch of other offices. They have lawn chairs out and a few tables. Otherwise, I guess people can have a little picnic on the astroturf lawn. I envision this would be a nice hang out spot during Spring or Summer. Their coffee quality is delicious, and after discovering that they use Voyager coffee beans, it's now obvious to me why I love their drinks so much. Voyager's coffee beans are of excellent quality! The time to receive a drink is fair, but can take up to 15 minutes if they're busy. All of the staff are really friendly and sociable though. Cowboy Coffee offers specialty drinks and during the summer, the trend was to put a cream top on your drinks, a trend Cowboy Coffee hopped on. From what I remember, they offered standard cream tops and flavored ones, such as Blueberry Cream tops. My favorite drink during the summer was the Mont Blanc, a seasonal drink that included a cream top, and had notes of zesty orange. I hope they bring that back next summer. As an avid matcha drinker, as well, I'm iffy about coffee places serving matcha (which was another big hype in the past few years) because I find that if a shop's specialty is coffee, then most of the time their matcha is not going to be good, and vice versa. There was about a 20 min wait time for my drinks. Drinks ordered: Blueberry Matcha (9/10): so delicious and loved how it had a strong blueberry flavor! One & One (8/10): didn't realize it was just 2 shots so this is more for someone looking for a sampler. It was on the stronger side, but still really good. I waited about 15 minutes to order and about 5-10 minutes for my order. Everything is outside on a turf patch behind a building. There's a handful of tables and some umbrellas. It would definitely be a nice place to have coffee with friends. But there isn't a ton of seating. I ordered the cold brew with lavender cold foam. My fiance ordered the matcha with blueberry cold foam and my aunt ordered a regular hot latte. My drink was just okay. I expected the lavender cold foam to be sweetened but it wasn't. I guess it was my fault for not asking if it was sweetened. I should've asked them to put some syrup in my drink. Even though I didn't love my drink, I could tell that the coffee was good quality! My fiance and I both really liked his drink. It's definitely worth all the hype! The blueberry cold foam had good blueberry flavor and the matcha was creamy and smooth. My aunt also liked her latte. Went here for the first time the other day after hearing so much praise about it. First and foremost, this place is an outdoor cafe with no physical indoor location which makes it best for summer/spring time. The menu is pretty small but the drinks definitely pack a punch. I asked the barista for a recommendation for my first time and he said I should try the butterscotch latte and oh man, that thing sent me to flavortown. I loved how it wasn't too sweet, especially since I've been trying to watch my sugar intake. The 2nd time I went, I tried the Creamtop Flash Brew with blueberry foam. This combo might just be my go-to because I don't taste any sweetness. I'm not even sure if the blueberry foam has any added sugar to it (I hope not), but overall a very nice pairing.
