Great Location (Near the Farragut North Station) and near Bar Code. The only issue with this place as well as any other DC coffee place is the fact that it is really hard to find a place to sit. The coffee is okay. At least it is better than Starbucks, but I see it as coffee on par with Pret A Manger or Cosi. It is not top grade coffee, but it seems deeper than Starbucks. I usually come here and just order a drink and walk out. Lately, they are doing happy hour Javiva, which is good. I like getting the Matcha green tea without whipped cream (it is sweet enough). read more

Peet's can be great coffee, it depends on the barista and if they make it fresh. It can be great but more often disappoints recently. DK if this is because the baristas are not keeping up the good tradition, or if the quality is going downhill. That's usually the story with big companies. They get the name, people used to their good quality, then cut corners to make more profit, which means cheapening their product. This didn't happen in the days of mom and pops, so you just have to suck it up with everything being corporate-cheap. Also the CUSTOMER SERVICE is NOT GOOD. They did not properly roast my beans. I asked for it to be roasted at the espresso setting but when I got home and tasted it, it tasted like a much coarser roast, all watery. When I took it back, it was tough luck! THE proper way to handle it would have been to refund or roast a new batch. But NO, nowadays the service help is CHEAP, perhaps directed by greedy management/corporate headquarters to be so. Back in the day, for example, if you didn't like something and even didn't say it but left it on your plate, a reputable place would "comp" it, take it off the bill. Pretty much no longer. Enjoy these days of corporate greed, and get a clue, it's why your salaries are low and you have no benefits. read more

This place was kind of like a glorified Starbucks but not as good... My friends and I were strolling the streets and wanted a good coffee and possible some kind of breakfasty something. So, through Yelp, we came across Pete's Coffee! We thought "perfect, coffee and breakfast sandwiches"! Well, it was all lack luster and very basic. My cappuccino was milky weird coffee without any flavor, foam, and was in a cup not suited for a small coffee. My sandwich was obviously warmed up by a microwave and tasted like breakfast on an airplane. I had a friend order a matte latte and it was watered down milk tea. These people are just pumping out coffee without any care or consideration. I mean, I guess I can't really complain since it wasn't a breakfast joint but dang, I would have really liked a better coffee. I didn't know what I was getting myself into when I came here but if I go back to DC, I will be looking for different coffee shops. read more

Awww, Peet's. The closest coffee place to my old office and a frequent meeting place for those DC meetings. It's a go-to meeting place for so many folks that: a) You'll never know who you will run into. b) It's almost always difficult to snag a seat. They've got free wifi. The line moves swiftly. Drinks are ready swiftly. The prices aren't too shabby. They've got a decent mix of iced, hot, coffee, tea, and smoothie drinks. It's nothing to crave or miss, but it's got the makings of an a-ok to place drop in for a caffeine fix and/or a work meeting. read more

I really loved this place when they were formerly Caribou. It took me some time to get used to the new establishment but so far it's been a good experience. They have really great coffee and outstanding customer service. I am always greeted warmly. One of my favorite staffers is April. She is so sweet and accommodating at all times! Go here for beverages only! While the pastries are good, they are overpriced for what they give you. One slice of banana nut bread is $2.50 and its smaller than the height of a standard post it note and about 1in thick. I could have ordered a whole sandwich somewhere else and paid less! read more

I came in here a few weeks ago when I was visiting the National Geographic Museum. I had never heard of Pee'ts before I walked by so I decided to stop in. I had a cold brew coffee and some madeleines for a little over six dollars. The shop had a very authentic neighborhood feel, not as "corporate" as Starbucks. The facilities were clean and well maintained. The prices were relatively inexpensive and the staff was friendly. The coffee had a nice strong flavor to it. They were selling books about the life and career of their founder Albert Peet, which I thought was interesting. He was a self-made man who did not compromise on the quality of his coffee. Just because I like cappuccinos doesn't mean I want one when I order a latte. Also, my latte was made half from one leftover milk canister, then finished up with newly steamed milk. While I'm sure the (older) milk was still sitting at the correct temperature, it's like when cheap buffet places simply pour the freshly cooked food over the old food instead of actually replacing the platter. Plenty of seating in the morning, as most of the commuters rush in for their caffeine fix and rush back out. We ordered 4 breakfast sandwiches (2 chicken chorizo, 2 ham and gouda). They only had enough chorizo for 1 sandwich, so we upgraded to a bacon and cheddar panini. That ended up being my favorite sandwich! Crusty bread, tasty bacon. I wish the bacon was crispier, but it was hot and the cheese was melty. The other sandwiches were good as well. It took a while for the sandwiches to come out, but the staff was all working hard to keep up with the onslaught of customers, and they kept apologizing for the wait and for the substitution. read more

Horrible experience after Peet's Coffee's employ threw away my wife's phone. After wife realized she left it at the coffee shop we received a call from Peet's and we asked them to hold it. Two days later we went to the coffee shop, staff claimed the phone was not there so I called them the next day so I could speak with the man who found the phone. The employ was very nervous and responded that they had thrown it away! As a customer of Peet's I find this very surprising. read more

Tried Peet's for the first time in LA and the wifey& I were hooked. If I had to compare, it is similar to Starbucks' offerings but different in its own way. The coffee has a more robust flavor and their frozen drinks are crazy delicious. Oh, and since I'm a tea drinker, their version of a hot Green Tea is superior in my honest opinion. They've expanded to the DC area and hopefully will continue to grow out. I love SB as much as the next person and as much I love a great mom & pop joint, sometimes when you've got that coffee itch, only the chain places have the location to scratch it. read more

I dont like going Starbucks so I went to Peets. I moved through the ordering line pretty fast to only stand in an awkward crowd of people waiting for their coffee. The layout of this coffee shop is horrible. Where you pick up your coffee, you have to turn around and walk thru a crowd of people to get a straw or add milk. Why isnt that stuff near the pick up counter? I ordered their seasonal - mayan mocha, small. It wasnt completely full and they forgot the whip. I didnt ask for it because I didnt want to be in their any longer. I will just buy their coffee at the grocery store and stick to not going to coffee shops in the morning anymore. The old caribou coffee had a better layout and more tables. it is a real shame because it is across the street from my work and I do like their coffee, but not this shop. read more

I love Peets! I came here today and ordered a large vanilla latte with half the amount of vanilla. Having been a barista previously I understand when things get mixed up sometimes, I got my latte and took a sip and realized it had the full amount of vanilla, I tried to just drink it as I don't want to be a problem customer but I just couldn't, it was too sweet. I went in and let the baristas know, they were amazingly sweet and re-made my drink to perfection! And gave me a coupon for a free Peets later on! Some stars just because it is a Peet's, and cashiers are nice, but quality of drinks are inconsistent and not what I expect from a Peet's. Most Peet's are careful about temperature, but this place will sometimes give you drinks hot enough to burn your tongue, even after a few minutes. Most Peet's baristas are just as friendly and helpful as other staff, but not all the baristas here are. And the same drink ordered at different times of the day will be served completely differently. It's a shame and diminishes the value of the Peet's name. read more

Great Peet's Location. I work nearby so I stop in at this Peet's regularly, perhaps almost daily. Peet's consistently delivers good coffee, and the baristas know their stuff when it comes to lattes and espresso drinks. I've never had an overly milky or or overly syrupy latte similar to the drinks I've gotten at some Starbucks' locations I've visited nearby. The staff and baristas are really friendly. There's often lines on weekday mornings because it's popular, but there's never a long wait. There's also a great working space, with lots of tables and wifi access, if you are looking for a coffee shop to get work done. read more

I went to the Caribou at the location fairly regularly, since it's on my way to work. After trying out Peet's, I won't be going back. The barista who made my drink said she was using skim milk - from the same canister she'd just made another drink. So, either the person ahead of me accidentally got a skim latte instead of her regular latte, or I was lied to. I used to be a barista, and the rich foam on top looked like whole or 1% to me - definitely not skim. Skim doesn't froth that well. She only filled up the cup halfway after she ran out of milk and she tried to hand it off to me. When I looked confused, she added more (skim? whole? who knows!) milk from another canister sitting nearby. This is what I paid $5 for? The drink tastes awful, and I took two sips before throwing it out. read more

Was so happy to see there is a Peet's Coffee right around the corner from The Capital Hilton where we were staying. I like their coffee so much better than almost any chain...(since there's no Dutch Bros on the East Coast). Coffee is so non acidic and mild while still having a strong coffee taste. The tile out front no longer seems to be an issue. This place is a dream in the off-hours outside of lunch, a.m. rush, and evening rush hour. there's no line if you time it just right in the 2pm hour. Bathrooms are clean, staff is awesome. The coffee is still too bitter for my taste but I do like their teas and on occasion a cappuccino. I come here at least twice a week - often with a gaggle of coworkers. read more

Very slow service the cashier was vey rude he take orders and go make them and let the customer wait on the line,when my turn come I ask for a medium roast coffee and they say they don't have it and I have to wait a other 5 minutes so the total waiting time to get a coffee is 25 minutes. Have to say my favorite location is still the 15th St. Peets, but now that it is known to be the best, it is always crowded. I've visited this location 2 days in a row and the one thing I have to say is that their "extra hot" is just not hot enough. I'm not sure if they disregard it, but the first day I ordered a peppermint mocha extra hot and it was luke-warm with all the chocolate at the bottom. The drink was quite a disgrace to the standards I have for Peets. I decided to give it a try again today and ordered a matcha latte extra hot. It was slightly hotter today, but still not as hot as I like it. The service is slow and the staffer are just not as friendly. The space, however, is spacious and empty most of the time, so it is acceptable if I get crowded out of the 15th St. location. read more
