Great service from Diana and the staff! Great food too! A delicious breakfast and lunch restaurant!

Stopped by Pegah's Cafe and decided to try the blue cheese burger. Overall, I'd give it about a 3.5/5. It didn't look quite as appetizing as I was hoping at first, and after letting it sit for a bit while catching up with a friend, it felt a little underwhelming. Not bad by any means--just not the standout choice I was expecting. I know Pegah's is really known for their chicken and waffles, and in hindsight I probably should have gone that route. Definitely planning to try that next time around. Still a nice spot to relax and chat, and I'm open to giving it another shot with a different order. read more

This is a great family restaurant. They have booths or large tables for bigger groups. It's the kind of place to come when you're really hungry because the servings are very generous. A cozy family style diner with a friendly staff and great food. Our waitress, Diana, took good care of us and made sure we were happy. She mentioned the specials of the day, one which we ordered, Chicken and Waffles. The chicken was golden brown, moist and tender and the Belgian style waffle was crispy on the outside, soft and cake-like on the inside. A savory and filling breakfast option. Everything we ordered was delicious. Diana also introduced us to their "hostess with mostess" Genevieve, who recently survived the earthquake we experienced a few days ago while working her shift. Genevieve said her regular customers were calm and collective during the whole ordeal and she was thankful for that. Both Diana and Genevieve were so personable and I can see why so many regular customers return to this diner. The service they provide is stellar and everyone there makes you feel welcome. This is a great spot for a hearty breakfast. I was in Vista. They also have a Pegah's in San Marcos & in Escondido.Extensive selection. It took me awhile to place my order! Had the Mexican egg scramble which was mighty yummy although there were too many jalapeños! Very friendly staff. Regular clientele. Saw plenty of pancakes & waffles being ordered! Large portions. What a pleasant surprise! I got takeout here for the first time the other day while looking for a good breakfast spot to celebrate my husband and I's anniversary--and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent (we ordered the Eggs Benedict, Chicken & Waffles, and a kids' pancake meal), but what really stood out was the outstanding customer service from Genevieve. From the moment I placed the order over the phone to picking it up in person, she was unbelievably kind, welcoming, and attentive. It made the whole experience feel extra special. Sometimes I door dash from here, but whenever I have, they'res always an issue with the order and they'll call me and be incredibly rude to me. Blame me for dasher interactions or order requests. This one older lady will call me and pretty much scream and give me attitude about my order that I have no control over. I just feel like an inconvenience to them and feel pretty shitty for ordering from them so I'll stop. I'm honestly feeling so bad right now. I'm trying to get in contact with manager. read more

Upon entry, this place looks cozy with a modern diner feel with the blue booth seats. Nice and breezy feel. They do have a backroom that had tables/chairs only, that is a bit darker. The waiter was thoughtful in offering to open the blinds for us. We also were helped immediately when we walked in on a Saturday around 11 am. This spot has your basic American breakfast menu, a lunch menu, and a few Mexican breakfast specials such has huevos Rancheros, breakfast burritos, and chilaquiles. We opted for green salsa chilaquiles, a Greek omelet with hashbrowns, and a short stack of pancakes. My omelet was great with a lot of the veggies and feta cheese sprinkled on top. The hash browns were crisp. My partner thought the beans and rice were decent and extra points for them to use cotija instead of the "Mexican" blend cheese, but the salsa Verde was more on the tangy tomatillo side rather than spicy. The pancakes were dry with some chew to it where you need a knife to cut; you can't use the side of your fork to cut the pancakes. Not the best pancakes. We also agreed that their coffee was not strong enough for a wake up call. We asked for fresh cups and still didn't think it was good enough and requested other drinks instead. Our waitress was nice about it and made sure we got refills. We didn't have a horrible experience and we both said if we were in the area, we'd likely try it again. But it didn't exactly hit the spot as our go-to breakfast dinner in North County. read more

Came for breakfast and it felt like a mom and pop kind of restaurant, which isn't a bad thing, I love checking out these kinds of restaurants. Inside, they have seats on either side of this aisle as soon as you walk in with even more seating in the back area. They weren't too busy and service was mediocre. We found this place because my wife wanted chicken and waffles. When we got there, it wasn't on the menu so we were going to leave but we asked. And they said although it's a special on the weekends and it's written on the board it's always available! So of course we had to have some. I had the eggs Benedict, actually they gave me a half eggs Benedict. Because I can't finish a full one I thought it was nice to have the option to have a half. And my wife had the chicken and waffles both of which were delicious. Lisa was a doll and awesome and attentive and wonderful. The coffee was extraordinarily hot and the food came extra extraordinarily hot. You know halfway through breakfast you need to get extra coffee to warm up your cup. That's not the way it is here. It will stay hot for a long time cause it comes to the table boiling. I really enjoyed that Would definitely recommend. read more

A friend told me about this place. Living in Vista for 40 years and I'd never heard of Pegah's Kitchen. Decided on Sunday morning to give them a try for breakfast. What a pleasant surprise! It's a simple diner with a very friendly atmosphere. Service was extremely prompt and the food arrived in about 5-6 minutes! My wife loves Eggs Benedict and her's was just perfect. Plenty of Hollandaise Sauce, crispy hash browns and tasty ham. I ordered the chicken fried steak and scrambled eggs with a biscuit and extra sausage gravy on the side. Eggs were lightly scrambled, just as I requested, and the gravy was nicely peppery without being too much. Biscuit was large and tender. Simple, tasty comfort food breakfast, just like we were looking for. The whole experience was just excellent and we'll definitely be back. read more

This is about the 3rd time we have visited Pegah's and we love it! We have been searching for a Breakfast spot and we found ours. My man had a sirloin steak and he claimed it to be Tender and awesome. I had the Kilbaska with fresh fruit and it was great. We will definitely be returning. read more

My wife's group has meet at Pegah's for the last seven years. Usually 8 to 12 people. Today the owner said that the group was not ordering enough food for this table. The group has always met every Wednesday in the banquet room since the largest table in the main restaurant only seats 6. The owner met off to the side with my wife and indicated he had overhead costs and he left her with an ultimatum, it was up to the group if they came back or not, indicating that they would need to spend more to meet in the banquet room at Pegah's. read more

Stopped here for a quick breakfast during our family trip in SoCal. My son had asked for the chicken and waffles, that we saw on a previous Yelp. However, it was not what we expected. Unfortunately, we found a hair in the chicken. This hair was mixed and crisped in the batter. Thankfully our waitress apologized and offered us something else. I have been eating at Pegah's kitchen at least twice a month for many years, maybe six years if I remember correctly. The staff is always smiling and friendly, very quick to take our orders. The price is in alignment with everywhere else and the food is tasty. read more

Lived in Vista now about 7 years and though not in my neighborhood I had seen this place before. It's exactly what you want for breakfast/lunch neighborhood restaurant--dependable food and service with a nice variety of well made options. Their corn beef hash, of the moister than crumbly school, is excellent. They also have an interesting take on hash browns using jalapeno. About 6 on a 10 point heat scale to be aware. Much of breakfast is the basic--eggs, bacon toast, so it's the details that make a place like this. There is a full array of condiments on the table including two hot sauces, the old fashioned black plastic tray with an assortment of jellies and all three artificial sweeteners. I like hot tea. They bring you an assortment that include real tea (English Breakfast or Earl Grey) with a cup full of hot water and a metal pot also with hot water. Also, though I declined, there was a plastic cup of honey to use if I wishes as a sweetener and a lemon slice. So yeah, maybe you're not a tea drinker but this attention to detail runs through the whole place. Finally their waitresses know there stuff and are very friendly and helpful. First off, right when you walk in, you hear a large crowd of very excited and happy people. Clearly the food is good, because they are drawing in the crowds! it appears to be a little small on the outside, but they can fit a surprising amount of people in there. The employees were very helpful and kind and knowledgeable. There was about 10 of us in my party, and we were seated almost immediately, even when it was busy. My husband and I had stayed up in Fallbrook for our best friend's wedding and needed a place the next morning to have breakfast at on our way back home. He found Pegah's with a 4 1/2 star rating and we were ready to try this place out. Definitely located somewhere that you'd consider this spot a type of "hole in the wall" spot, but it was so delicous! We had the absolute sweetest hostess and waitress and they both made us feel welcome and ready to get some breakfast in to start our day. We came in around 9:00 am, and the place was fairly packed. Still a bit of empty tables but they were definitely hustlin' for the morning. My husband ordered the country fried steak & eggs, with home fried potatoes and he subbed out toast for a pancake. I had a half order of the biscuits & gravy, with a side of some bacon. We both also enjoyed some nice cups of coffee. It was such a delightful breakfast, and we're both actually a little sad we don't live closer to this spot. The portions were literally perfect - not too much where you feel like you're wasting all this food, but not too little that you're left wanting. The gravy was so, so good we were dipping the potatoes and bacon into it also, and the pancake syrup was just sweet enough. I would say I would've loved a bit more sausage with my biscuits & gravy but nonetheless, it was such a solid breakfast.
