This experience was a mix of good and bad. For the most part the food was excellent and looked very appealing when served. The exception was the tomato soup I ordered. It looked beautiful as served but it was quite cold and the taste was not good. The service was extremely lacking. Our food was delivered and we never saw the server again. I received the soup with my meal and not before. Perhaps it was left sitting prior? I don't know. I was unable to send it back or have it heated because the server was missing and there was no one else to ask. We were unable to order any additional drinks for the same reason. We also ran out of water for a long time and I got up and hunted down the server. I had glasses in hand and got a dirty look and more water but no apology. We would have ordered more drinks and possibly dessert. Instead we left and went to get ice cream across the street. Very odd that the drink menu has no prices listed. It showed wine by the glass but it did not appear one could purchase a bottle. I can say the kitchen is spot on. I hope they work on their service.

Super fun Irish themed pub! We had a group of 6 and our server Isabell had us covered all night! The food was amazing and the drinks even better!

We came here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. We were delighted with the atmosphere. The decor was charming. We were greeted warmly and told to sit anywhere. Our waitress was Amanda. She was a delight. The food was delicious. We decided this will definitely be a place we will work into our rotation of lunch spots.

We were visiting Alta Vista Gardens and we're looking for a place to eat afterwards. My friends and I do not live in Vista, but we decided on Village Pub as knew they most likely would have a wide variety of options. They sure did from sandwiches, salads, burgers, wraps and traditional British pub food. I had the French dip with crispy coated fries. As an add on I had grilled onions and horseradish sauce. It was not huge but the perfect size, with tender peppery beef and a soft sandwich roll. I do think the horseradish sauce should have been included, it was a .50 uncharge. My friend had the pastrami sandwich which she really enjoyed the other friend had a turkey melt. Ir was a nice day so we sat on the enclosed patio. I walked through the restaurant and bat area. It was very spacious and would be a fun place to spend St Patty's Day. It looked authetic, they also had a wide selection of the most popular Irish beers. Harp, Smithwick, Guinness etc. The server made nice recommendations but he said all the food was great. Next time will have to try one of their British specialty items. Oh and might sound odd but their restroom had a nice spicy scent.

Rating: 1/5 I've previously rated Vista Village Pub 5 stars, but after my experience this past Saturday morning, I sadly need to update my review. My husband, a friend, and I arrived a little before 10 AM, and though the patio was crowded (which I initially took as a good sign), things quickly went downhill. The table next to us was already extremely drunk at that early hour, with a loose dog walking around with a fake service vest (dog had zero recall. No wah it is a service dog and even if it was it should be on leash) and their conversation filled with disgusting comments about sex and constant arguing. It was uncomfortable and frustrating, especially when they smugly told us, "You're welcome for the show," as if their behavior was something anyone wanted to witness. They also took pitchers of water from the restaurant and walked to their car with them--not exactly the best crowd to be around during brunch. Ambiance in the gutter at this point. Service, which has normally been good, was horrendous. It took forever for anyone to take our drink order despite me letting a waitress know we were seated outside. My friend, who has sensitive teeth, requested water without ice, but all they brought were waters with ice when asked twice. When I asked for straws, a server took the chance to refill my coffee but she spilled coffee all over the table, didn't provide napkins, and then dropped the unwrapped straws right into the coffee puddle! I was shocked. The food, which has always been the highlight, was terrible. Cold hashbrowns, eggs that tasted off, French toast that was pale and undercooked--it was all bad. I even ordered a side of bacon for my dog, which didn't come until we were ready to pay, and the bacon looked so sketchy I left it untouched on the table. My husband ate half of his burrito, but my girlfriend and I barely ate anything. Even the hollandaise that I ordered to go with my spinach scramble look like yellow pudding with the butter separated at the top. There was not a thing appetizing about this breakfast. I don't know if it was the chaos outside translating into chaos into the kitchen, but holy smokes was it awful. I've been to Vista Village Pub many times over the years, but this visit was such a letdown. I felt embarrassed for bringing my friend here after raving about it. It's disappointing to see a place I once loved take such a nosedive.

Cute castle vibe in here. They had a small jukebox in the hallway which was cool. Had some snacks here and a beer. Great service and food was serves with a smile. One stop along our short bar crawl.

Service is always top-of-the-line. Food is always excellent. I've never in these 78 years that I've been gone here never had a problem, very relaxing and friendly. The owner of the manager the servers were always excellent and on top of everything and to be honest this is the best breakfast I've ever had in Southern California.

Nothing humbles you faster than paying a $40 daytime 'cover charge' to sit uncomfortably with alchy-bros and their untreated mental health issues. We came to this Irish Tavern because...well... St. Patricks Day. The bouncer wouldn't let us in until we paid the extortion. It's no wonder millennials are broke. I didn't really wanna pay, but we found such a great parking spot... He took my cash and stuffed it in his pocket. For $40, we assumed something legendary was awaiting us inside. Is Cillian Murphy here? Or maybe a Glen Hansard cover band.? At the very least a Conan O'Brien blowup doll? Nope... just canned music playing over speakers that crackled like grandpa's radio. So there's no band... But, for $40 there better be at least something I haven't seen before. Perhaps they've summoned St. Patrick from the dead? Or figured out how to make everyone's red flags visually appear. Or how to uncrack an egg... Something! But nope, it was just like a regular day that wasn't $40 to get in. And here's the thing: the food and drink are ALSO more expensive than usual! So they already fleeced me for $40, and now two drinks are also $40? Two corned beef plates: another $50!? It was average to below average. It was like they took every Irish Tavern in the world, put 'em all in a blender, and hit puree. It was just... easy-to-chew mediocrity. Honestly, I've been to better pubs at Holiday Inn. As we walked out, the same bouncer was still collecting his shakedown fees. But this time the cover charge was only $10. Only 45 minutes later, the cover charge for the privilege of... well nothing... lowered exponentially!?! This isn't an Irish tavern, this is a scam with a jukebox. Pro tip: I've paid $40 for many things. A glow-in-the-dark toilet seat. A Texas-shaped waffle maker. A desktop punching bag for when Yelp takes down my reviews. But I'd rather pay $40 to NOT go to a mediocre Irish bar. Next year, I'm staying home to enjoy a $3 Guinness in my garage. No cover. Curated playlist. Parking's up front. Just me, my red flags, and zero regret.

I recall it being a delicious and a wonderful dining experience. I have been looking forward to bringing my family and friends here all week. I am giving this restaurant 3 stars, because their food is still AMAZING and their staff is super nice and I believe deep down inside that they just had a REALLY OFF night. We had reservations for a party of 9 last night. The table was set up nicely and accommodated a few extra if needed, which I thought was cool. We started with some adult beverages: an Old Fashion, some Hotel Nacionals, a Fashionably Late, and a couple of beers. Everything started great. Dennis, our server was very cool and friendly and gave great suggestions. We ordered the mac and cheese sides and they were delicious with huge pieces of savory bacon in them. We also ordered the brussel sprouts which we never received and didn't even realize it until the very end when we received the bill because of all the other issues we had... but we'll get to that in a moment. But let's talk about what did go well... the delicious food we did get. We ordered the Pig burger which was sooo good and came with crispy fries. The fish for the fish and chips were 2 huge pieces and were delicious, came with yummy seasoned waffle fries and the tiniest tartar sauce and malt vinegar. I had to request 4 more for that amount of fish, but no big deal. Dennis brought out as much as we needed. Their ranch sauce is really good too. Don't judge just because it's a little peachy'ish and looks thousand island'ish. lt's still some very good ranch. My son said he really tasted the bitterness of beer in the fish batter but maybe it was just in that piece he had; I could not taste it in the piece of fish I ate. The short rib was really tender and delicious... the sauce was just a tad salty for my taste, but the mashed potatoes it sat on sort of balanced it out a little. The fried chicken thighs were really cooked well, juicy, crispy and seasoned perfectly. We ordered two Teres Major steaks. One rare with mashed potaoes, one medium rare with grits. The rare one came out medium and without any mushrooms, took FOREVEEERR to remake (the rest of the table was almost done with our meals...& not sure why it took so long since the restaurant wasn't that busy and it's a RARE steak). The one with grits came with mashed potatoes instead of grits. Dennis was super nice and apologetic and corrected both mistakes when we let him know. He then brought us a big bowl of grits. The manager (blonde gal) came over and apologized for the mistakes tonight, letting us know that usually does not happen, and let us know she'd be comping one of our steaks and would be bringing a dessert on them. We thought that was very nice of them. However, as nice a gesture. we never did receive that dessert. My husband handed Dennis his credit card before the bill arrived (before our friends could try to pay the bill) and not sure why but our bill never came, and we never saw Dennis again either after he boxed up our leftovers and took the card. We had to ask another server for our bill because we had been waiting for quite a while... and needed to head out as we were already late to meet friends at a lounge. The other server came back with my husband's credit card, the bill (that's when I finally noticed the brussel sprouts sides we never got but were charged), and let the server know. He immediately apologized and took it off the bill. So I'm not sure what happened last night at Flying Pig...missing and charged brussel sprouts, steak overcooked, missing mushrooms, mashed potatoes instead of grits, then a comped dessert promised but never delivered. WOW. I had to apologize to my friends. I was totally hyping up this place and it underdelivered. They automatically got their 20% gratuity for our party of 9 but anyone that knows me knows how much I absolutely love great service combined with exceptional food and that could have easily been a 30-35% tip had they been on their A game! We only come to Oceanside once a year. Maybe we will try again next year. Maybe not. This trip was about trying out a bunch of different restaurants and giving honest reviews on dishes/businesses we haven't tried before, or in a long time. Do better guys.

The entrances are a bit of a maze, leaving us standing outside having a mini identity crisis about where we actually wanted to dine. Ultimately, we stayed the course and chose Same Same. The Larb Lettuce Cups: As a massive larb fan, I was hyped. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat. My wife officially dubbed it "lackluster." While the ground beef was seasoned and the lettuce was beautifully crisp, when the lettuce is the undisputed star of your larb, it might be time to reevaluate the recipe. The Yellowtail Ceviche: To recover from the larb disappointment, my wife ordered the ceviche. It was a step up, but for a Thai spot, it was missing that signature kick. It really needed a handful of jalapeños to wake it up. In fact, nothing on the table was truly spicy until I deployed their house chili oil. The Khao Soi Curry: This was the absolute hero of the night! It completely saved the meal. It was rich and delicious, and it paired unexpectedly well with our New York steak--even though the kitchen served it well-done instead of our requested medium-rare. As dinner went on, it became pretty clear that this spot might cater a bit more to the happy hour and drinking crowd, especially considering my Cranberry-Sprite mix was arguably the most flavor-packed thing on the table. That said, the service was fantastic. The staff members were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Pro-Tip: If you're ordering more than two items, do not let them seat you at the tiny tables for two. It's a high-stakes game of food Tetris you will not win. On the bright side, they earned major bonus points for boxing up our leftovers for us. Call me old-fashioned, but I feel like every restaurant should still offer that level of hospitality! Overall, I'd say give it a shot if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a cool atmosphere, but I wouldn't rush off your couch to get there.

We got the Prosciutto and Arugula flatbread, which was very thin and crispy. The truffle fries were really good and we had them with their chipotle aioli. We also both got raspberry lemonades which were very sweet and refreshing. The coconut shrimp was really really good. My boyfriend was obsessed. I don't often love any kind of fried or battered shrimp but these were so good. I definitely want to come back!

Having previously been to the one up in Orange, we decided that this was the best place to go. We were seated right away on the rooftop deck with a pleasant view of the downtown area. Our server was very patient with us and once we were able to find an order that we both liked (we were both exhausted from the San Diego County fair) our food was delivered to us in under 10 minutes. Our meals were both very well done in terms of quality and presentation. The biggest issue that we had is that because there is so much corn on the menu and because we generally avoid corn whenever possible due to dietary restrictions it seemed to really minimize what we could get as even most salads had corn inside of it. The portions provided were perfect for the two of us and the bison burger in particular was delivered to my exact cooking specification. What's interesting is that this restaurant does not include any sides in terms of their menu offerings so what feels like a discount when you see a burger for $13 to $15 you actually make up for by having to spend 4 to 6 dollars on a side. Well, I understand that this may be easier for them with some of their customers. It is not a trend that I enjoy seeing as ultimately the prices are not as cheap as you would expect. They were a bit busier than expected on the holiday, but that's because so many other restaurants were closed so it looks like a large part of the crowd went to Oceanside as well just to go to Finney's. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, but the menu having limited options if anyone has a hard time with corn really puts a damper on it along with having to pay for the sides separately makes for a weird experience. Even with those in mind, I still give it four stars.
