I've been here many times, mostly for breakfast or lunch. Today I'm here for dinner. I decided to have a light lunch since I will be line dancing with friends nearby. The place has a cabin feel with the wood work and cozy feeling. Sometimes it's a little dark after coming in from outside so you need to let your eyes adjust so you can read the menu. Amanda was my server today. And like any of the other servers I had before her, all were friendly and helpful. I was opting for a soup, sandwich and salad for today's meal. I asked about the sour of the day. Amanda shared that it was Toscano soup. She described it has a broth/cream base with potato and sausage, and kale. I selected a balsamic dressing with my house side salad. My cocktail for today was an espresso martini. Amanda mentioned that it was not made with espresso coffee, that it was espresso liquor. I asked for Bailey's be added (additional $2.50 a shot to the martini). It was very good and I'm glad I added the Bailey's otherwise it would have been too strong. My meal was perfect! That Toscano soup was very flavorful. My grilled cheese sandwich was made with pepper jack cheese. I will try the traditional cheddar cheese next time. The sourdough bread had a stale taste to me. Not sure if it was, but that was my take on it. It didn't stop me from eating it all (came only half a sandwich). I pretty much finished my plate (a little salad left). All was great along with my cocktail. I enjoy coming here. They do have outdoor seating if you wish. There is street parking with a 2 hour limit. There is some all day parking no fee for either. I've been going to Vista Village Pub for many years and consider it one of downtown Vista's hidden gems. The beer is always cold, the food is consistently good, and the staff has always been friendly. Some of my favorites are the soups (seriously, they're all good), the Irish nachos, the club sandwich, and pretty much everything on the breakfast menu. What I like most is that it's the kind of place where you can stop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a drink and feel comfortable. They also do fun events like karaoke and other activities throughout the week that give it a real neighborhood pub feel. If you're looking for a casual local spot with good food, good drinks, and great people, Vista Village Pub is definitely worth a visit. read more

This experience was a mix of good and bad. For the most part the food was excellent and looked very appealing when served. The exception was the tomato soup I ordered. It looked beautiful as served but it was quite cold and the taste was not good. The service was extremely lacking. Our food was delivered and we never saw the server again. I received the soup with my meal and not before. Perhaps it was left sitting prior? I don't know. I was unable to send it back or have it heated because the server was missing and there was no one else to ask. We were unable to order any additional drinks for the same reason. We also ran out of water for a long time and I got up and hunted down the server. I had glasses in hand and got a dirty look and more water but no apology. We would have ordered more drinks and possibly dessert. Instead we left and went to get ice cream across the street. Very odd that the drink menu has no prices listed. It showed wine by the glass but it did not appear one could purchase a bottle. I can say the kitchen is spot on. I hope they work on their service. read more

This place is Fantastic! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. Eva our waitress was amazing, she was on top of everything. Our party of 22, we sat in 3 tables and Eva still was on top of it. The food was delicious and so fresh. I was so surprised of the level of cuisine they offered. We were there for brunch but I'm for sure going back to try their dinner menu. Food was great. However, I accidentally knocked over my glass and it broke. I apologized profusely and they said it was OK and they offered to bring me a replacement drink. When they brought the bill, they not only charged me for the replacement drink, but they also charged me for the glass that I broke. I discussed it with them, but they would not back down. Not good customer service. The waitress was fine, but she took ages to take our order. Will not be returning here. When they asked me if I wanted a replacement drink, they should have told me that they were charging me because then I would have declined. read more

I rarely give 5 stars, but this place deserves it for sure! DOG friendly patio we found out so next time our pooch will be with us. Nice inside and very clean. Nice, friendly and knowledgable server-Veronica (we asked her several questions about some menu items and she shared her favorites too). Nice cold beers and lots of choices. We upped the cost a little adding a side salad and little tomatoes and really good croutons. All 3 of us had different dressings and we all really liked them and they tasted home made - ranch, blue cheese and Italian. BEST, and I mean BEST shepherd's pie we've ever had. The broccoli on the side was cooked right (so many other places serve them and they're cold and you can't even stick a fork in it). They even have a large breakfast menu too (including 1 thing my wife loves - peanut butter French toast). We're going back to try their Reuben next time! read more

I was a little hesitant going into this place seeing the 3.5 star review and the insanely huge menu. I mean it's ridiculous how many items are on the menu. I can't attest to most of the items, but the sandwiches are PHENOMENAL. I genuinely believe it to be the best sandwich I've had in my life. I got the Reuben sandwich and wow. Just wow. I should have taken pictures but it just looked so good I couldn't wait! The rest of my party got a cheeseburger, which I tried, and it was great, the club sandwich, which was also delicious, and the chili cheese dog, which looked insane. The fries were delicious, I'd say they are some of the best fries I've ever had. They're golden, crispy, and soft on the inside. So many restaurants get fries wrong. This is definitely not one of them. The ambiance is nice, inside is a little dark and cozy, and the outside is clean and enjoyable. The service was good but nothing to write home about. We were visiting Alta Vista Gardens and we're looking for a place to eat afterwards. My friends and I do not live in Vista, but we decided on Village Pub as knew they most likely would have a wide variety of options. They sure did from sandwiches, salads, burgers, wraps and traditional British pub food. I had the French dip with crispy coated fries. As an add on I had grilled onions and horseradish sauce. It was not huge but the perfect size, with tender peppery beef and a soft sandwich roll. I do think the horseradish sauce should have been included, it was a .50 uncharge. My friend had the pastrami sandwich which she really enjoyed the other friend had a turkey melt. Ir was a nice day so we sat on the enclosed patio. I walked through the restaurant and bat area. It was very spacious and would be a fun place to spend St Patty's Day. It looked authetic, they also had a wide selection of the most popular Irish beers. Harp, Smithwick, Guinness etc. The server made nice recommendations but he said all the food was great. Next time will have to try one of their British specialty items. Oh and might sound odd but their restroom had a nice spicy scent. read more

Rating: 1/5 I've previously rated Vista Village Pub 5 stars, but after my experience this past Saturday morning, I sadly need to update my review. My husband, a friend, and I arrived a little before 10 AM, and though the patio was crowded (which I initially took as a good sign), things quickly went downhill. The table next to us was already extremely drunk at that early hour, with a loose dog walking around with a fake service vest (dog had zero recall. No wah it is a service dog and even if it was it should be on leash) and their conversation filled with disgusting comments about sex and constant arguing. It was uncomfortable and frustrating, especially when they smugly told us, "You're welcome for the show," as if their behavior was something anyone wanted to witness. They also took pitchers of water from the restaurant and walked to their car with them--not exactly the best crowd to be around during brunch. Ambiance in the gutter at this point. Service, which has normally been good, was horrendous. It took forever for anyone to take our drink order despite me letting a waitress know we were seated outside. My friend, who has sensitive teeth, requested water without ice, but all they brought were waters with ice when asked twice. When I asked for straws, a server took the chance to refill my coffee but she spilled coffee all over the table, didn't provide napkins, and then dropped the unwrapped straws right into the coffee puddle! I was shocked. The food, which has always been the highlight, was terrible. Cold hashbrowns, eggs that tasted off, French toast that was pale and undercooked--it was all bad. I even ordered a side of bacon for my dog, which didn't come until we were ready to pay, and the bacon looked so sketchy I left it untouched on the table. My husband ate half of his burrito, but my girlfriend and I barely ate anything. Even the hollandaise that I ordered to go with my spinach scramble look like yellow pudding with the butter separated at the top. There was not a thing appetizing about this breakfast. I don't know if it was the chaos outside translating into chaos into the kitchen, but holy smokes was it awful. I've been to Vista Village Pub many times over the years, but this visit was such a letdown. I felt embarrassed for bringing my friend here after raving about it. The food was meh. I mean, it was fine. We ordered wings & asked our server if we could request all drummettes. She didn't understand. We asked if they gave both drums & flats, she had no idea what we meant. When the wings came, they were a mix of drums & flats ... but they were pretty tasty. The Irish nachos were not what we expected. Thin slices of potato with cheese, bacon bits, scallions, and sour cream. If the potato slices had been fried to a stiff consistency it would have been better, but they were floppy. We had to eat them with a fork. We attempted to order duck wings, but while they are on the online menu, they haven't been on offer for months. I had a classic cob salad which was pretty good. My husband had a corned beef sandwich - it was pretty good too. Overall a decent experience, but not great. Add in the ignorance of the server & the unfortunate beer glass shards in my mouth & I can't go higher than 2.5 out of 5. I ordered a beer & on my 3rd sip, the rim of the glass broke & flaked several small shards of glass into my mouth. Luckily I wasn't injured, but I did freak out a bit. read more

I want to start by saying the food here was actually really good, which is why this experience was so disappointing. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined our visit. Our server (older blonde lady) was extremely rude throughout our time there. At one point, my 2 year old son's toy accidentally fell on the floor without us realizing. Instead of simply letting us know, she kicked it underneath our chair and said someone was going to trip over it in a very irritated tone. Later, after having lunch, I took my son next door to get ice cream and brought it back while we were getting ready to leave. She immediately told us that next time we can't bring ice cream in because they sell ice cream there and I should have purchased it from them instead. The comment that really bothered me happened as we were leaving. I was holding my son's hand and walking out when she looked at us and said, "Good luck with that one," and laughed. As a parent, that felt incredibly rude and unnecessary. Again, the food was good, but the service and attitude we experienced made the visit uncomfortable. I hope management addresses this because it really takes away from what could otherwise be a great place to eat. read more

My mom loved the wings, and my husband was a big fan of the hamburgers. The drinks were awesome too--they have a full bar. After running the Vista 5k, was in desperate need of a local meal, and was referred here by my deacon at church. Boy howdy was I super thrilled with this decision. First things first, props to Eva for some of the most courteous service received on such a busy day. Crowds from both the 5k and the Strawberry Festival were huge, but Eva handled it like a champ and made me feel like I was the only guest being served. This is something sorely lacking with many restaurants and pubs post 2020, and VVP passes with flying colors. The breakfast meals as shown in my photo were absolutely amazing. They came out super fast, quality was exactly as expected, and portions were perfect for the prices. If you're in the mood for an omelette, eggs Benedict, or something decadent such as French toast sticks, you'll be in for a great time. Also, I have give an extra shout out for the coffee. Their coffee was my lifeblood that day, and the refills came quickly without even needing to be asked. This is such a good thing to share. It's not that hard to have coffee walked around the restaurant when checking on guests, and VVP mastered this to a science. I cannot speak more highly of this place and the value they add for Downtown Vista. 5 stars. read more

What a great little find for us. Was out in the Vista area and decided to stop here for lunch. You can eat inside or on their patio. We chose the patio. We were pretty hungry and boy did we pick a good place to stop at! I had the pastrami sandwich with fries, one friend had the California turkey melt and the other had French fries. Yum!!! The fries were hot and crispy, some of the best that I've had. Pastrami was very good (I'm picky about pastrami. The French dip was ok, not the best. Our waiter asked my friend if she wanted cheese, grilled onions, tomatoes and/or horseradish with her sandwich. She chose grilled onions and horseradish. What the waiter didn't mention is that there was an extra charge for those items....... Grilled onions were $1.75. Really? Horseradish was .50 and it barely had any horseradish flavor. The fat bartender who was the manager on duty gave us a 3$ discount on a $50 tab. I was in the neighborhood today and dropped in for lunch and a beer. Was told they had a half deli sandwich and chili for bout $10. Was offered to either have turkey or ham or tuna melt. I chose the tuna and chili. The bartender asked if I wanted onions with it and I confirmed. Food was ok but just average. When I got the check they upcharged me $2.95 for cup of onions and 2.95 for tuna upgrade which I was completely unaware. So turns out I had a small lunch special and a beer for $30 total! I had their 8 oz cheeseburger with all of the trimmings. Cooked to order perfectly, char broiled, medium rare. In addition to the fresh lettuce, red onion, tomato, and pickle they had regular mustard, Dijon, ketchup, and they brought extra mayo on request. I am very, very picky about my hamburgers, and this was one of the best in a long time. My wife had a barbecue chicken wrap that she absolutely loved. She is quite the foodie and was very impressed.
