I've been coming here now for six years and wanted to add an updated review. This place continues to be super consistent with its amazing fish and chips. As well as the amazing beers on tap. No matter what time I come here while it is usually during off hours, they are so friendly and hospitable and very quick on the service so absolutely no complaints This is truly a great neighborhood jam, and very lucky that it is in the downtown area as well. There is parking that is free. Just be sure to be on the lookout. I wish I was never so full from the entrées and appetizers that I could actually get to Dear one of these days so maybe that will be a future review. read more

​I usually stick to restaurants with a 4-star rating or higher, but I decided to take a chance on this spot because I was craving fish and chips--and I am so glad I did! ​They have a great variety of sides for the fish and chips, which is a plus because I don't eat too many fries. Instead of the standard fries, we opted for the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Both were surprisingly delicious and well-prepared. As for the fish itself? Absolutely wonderful. We stopped for a random weekday lunch. We were seated immediately, an greated by our server who immediately. The decor is exactly what you would expect at an Irish pub and we loved it! What we ordered: *mashed potato balls as a starter. * Blackened chicken sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. * Pot roast sliders with a side of coleslaw. The mashed potato balls were served with ranch for dipping. They were tasty. The blackened chicken sandwich was flavorful and tasty as well. The star of the show was the pot roast sliders. Peggy Kinnane's is a staple of the Arlington Heights downtown, but they were off their game when my husband and I went there on a Monday night in early January. When we arrived there only four or five other tables that were being used. Our server was very nice and friendly. I ordered the corned beef on rye with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good but the sweet potato fries, that I paid $3.50 to upgrade to, were soggy and limp. I asked for some BBQ sauce to use as dipping sauce and I was charged $1.00. Talk about nickel and diming your customer. My husband ordered the shepherd's pie and it was unremarkable and flavorless. We had the molten lava cake for dessert. We just visited on a Monday night and they ended up getting quite a crowd for a dismally cold evening with no great sports to watch. We were quite surprised how many people showed up. Our group of six grabbed a high table in the bar area. Side note: why are the high chairs and stools always so uncomfortable in a bar. These were no exception. And hey, add a foot bar long the length of the table for a place to rest one's feet comfortably. I kept having to stand to regain circulation in my feet. This isn't just a Peggy Kinnane's thing, this is all bars. I ordered a diet soda and they kept refilling it without asking which was nice. I ordered the beer cheese soup. I had never had it before and it was really good. I took a Milky just to ease my mind, but truthfully, I don't think I needed a lactaid pill at all. It was quite delicious. I then ordered the blackened Cajun chicken sandwich with a side of tots. Tots are tots. I have only been one place where they screwed up tots (how does one screw up a tot?) and that place is out of business. Heck, if you can screw up making tots, the rest of your food mustn't be good either. Anyway, the sandwich arrived and it was a thin cut of chicken. But holy cow was it flavorful. I didn't need any more chicken than what was presented as it was a perfectly balanced, yet spicy sandwich and I would get it again. I would pair it with their ranch dressing which I got to dip the tots in. They have a damn good ranch dressing. Two of our party got their signature fish and chips. Gotta tell ya, if they weren't good, we'd have to call them a different type of pub as not self-respecting Irish pub has crappy fish and chips. Another two ordered burgers. Both said the burgers were fantastic and rate them as some of the best in the Northwest suburbs. Lastly, our sixth man ordered the reuben. The same goes for the reuben as the fish and chips. He said their corned beef was flavorful and worth ordering again. He also ordered a flight of draft drinks (I say drinks as the Magner's cider was one of the flight of drafts). With the exception of the seating, the restaurant has great food and a great atmosphere. I bet this place is packed on St. Patrick's Day and that's just for the food alone. read more

My dad said it had been a long time since he had good fish and chips and had a taste for it. I had been here once before and remembered it being good. We were here just before lunch so it was mostly empty. Service was friendly and excellent. As non-Irish as it was I was happy to see Maplewood Son of Juice on tap and my wife got a really nice pour of Guinness. I have only been here once, and although I was only able to sample a portion of the menu, I have this place in my crosshairs for a return visit. My visit was for a family get-together to celebrate the life of a family member we recently lost. His last wish was for friends and family to visit his favorite Irish pub and have a drink on him. So here we are... Let's start with the food. The Wisconsin cheese curds and spicy pickle fries are a good start - I recommend them. I know for some people this is typical bar fare, but I consider these two appetizers better than what you encounter at most bars. The superstars of this place, however, are the sliders. If you are not ordering a full blown meal, or if you are contemplating which appetizer to pick from, you must order the Guinness Beef or Jameson Pork sliders. They are amazing! The beef sliders tasted like they were cooked on an outdoor grill and not an indoor flat top. The Guinness-infused cheddar cheese they put on these really takes them to the next level. The pork sliders are equally as good. I don't know what goes into their signature Jameson sauce that they top these with, but it is unlike anything I have ever tasted before. Really good! As far as drinks go, they have a nice selection of beers to choose from, and when it comes to whiskey... this is your place. They have a pretty large selection to pick from, including some single malt scotch "on tap" behind the bar. There is no shortage of options here. Overall, a very warm and welcoming pub to visit, especially on the bar side. The servers were all very nice, attentive and took good care of us. Live band every Friday and Saturday. The only thing i hate is where their dance floor is located is also the where everyone i mean customers and servers pass. Other than that everything is great. Terrible focus on detail and service. They seat you and you keep waiting for someone to show up. Yesterday I ordered their pesto chicken sandwich and the chicken came undercooked; had to send it back. The tater tots smelled of old oil. My family has been coming here for years. We've even noticed they have gone downhill over the past couple years but we still return and try to support this local establishment. But, last night was the breaking point for us, and we will likely not be returning. My mom made reservations almost 2 months ago for "dinner with Santa". She was specifically told Santa and Mrs Claus would be visiting each table while we dine, along with a photo op for the family with Santa. We had specific tables reserved for our party of 10 for 6:45pm. They called my mom the day before to tell her they had to move us and gave our table away to accommodate a party of 75! Ok, I understand wanting to accommodate everyone, but it should never be at the expense of other patrons! To be clear, our waitress was fantastic, but the food was barely mediocre and cold. So you know, we did not even complain about the food because we were there to see Santa! Which brings me to our experience with Santa which was, well, we don't know because we never saw him, until he was walking out to leave!!! We specifically came here to have "dinner with Santa", but never had the chance! There was ZERO communication on what was happening, and when we saw Santa leaving at 8pm never having the opportunity to see him, I could see the disappointment in my nieces eyes that she didn't get to talk with Santa!! The only child left in our family who still believes!!! It was absolutely heartbreaking!! And my mom, who missed out on the family tradition every year of having our picture taken with Santa, she was, and still is, devastated, and truly believes we were "pushed to the side so they could serve this bigger party!" If this place takes anything away from this, it's to have clear communication with everyone when you're having these special events! Tell everyone what time Santa is leaving, have your waitstaff communicate that with every single table they serve, before Santa leaves say "Santa will be leaving so if you haven't gone to see him yet make sure you do..." And, if you tell people that Santa will be visiting each table, he should do it, otherwise don't make promises that won't be kept or have no intention on doing. I really hope the management/owners will read this and take accountability for what a disappointing experience this was for us! Oh, and a side note to all of this, this special family dinner with a non-existent Santa cost my family $400!!! Food should have been a lot better or at the very least served warm for that price, and we all should have received hugs from Santa for that price!!! I hosted a 40th birthday party for my son this weekend. I was thrilled with the way we were taken care of. There were about 45 guests. The food was fabulous. We chose the patio for the party. Brendan and Liam were our servers. They did an excellent job of making sure the food was brought out in a timely fashion. They were quick to clear dirty dishes and empty glasses, and made sure guests were asked for replacements when their drinks were running low. They took excellent care of us. Here is the reason why, last Saturday (11/23/24) my fiancé and her friend scheduled reservations at the same time as my daughter and I. They sat in a separate booth. The food was very good and we ordered 2 appetizers. The pulled pork nachos and Rueben eggrolls. Huge portions too! Filled up on those alone. But still got an entrée and dessert. The décor was very nice and they started playing live music right before we left. We were there from 6 PM to 8 something. John was our waiter. He was awesome. NOT ONCE did he leave us dry and hanging and checked up on us just the right amount of times. However, my fiancés waitress, she was very inattentive and disappeared. She finally showed up to only tell them that she was leaving and this is the new waitress. The new waitress was even worse. After paying my daughters and I bill, I went over to her table to ask if she was ready to be leaving soon. She said that the new waitress disappeared too! So I got up, went to the hostess and asked to find her waitress so we can pay our bill and leave. The waitress showed up and she was sporting a little attitude that the hostess had to get her. John got a 22% tip and I asked my finance what did you give her as a tip and she said 15%. I said she should have gotten nothing. read more

I've been here a few times and it's a great place to hangout with friends. They have a big menu with so many options! Their drink menu is also big and they offer a variety of different beers. I've particularly enjoyed the Irish flight and magners cider beer. There's live music on the weekends and the band playing last night was really good. The only thing I will say is that it's very difficult to hold a conversation with the live music because it's so loud. Our waitress was great, but I think she was also having a hard time taking our food and drink orders because it was hard to hear. The atmosphere is awesome and they have a little area right in front of the band for dancing. We ordered the Reuben rolls and they were sooo good and incredibly filling! We waited a while to order our entrees. I had the bunratty shrimp salad and let me tell you... it's delicious! I will definitely order it again. It tastes very Mediterranean - it has chunks of feta, cucumbers, red onions, and chunks of avocado in it. Do you know how many dedicated patrons and regulars they have?! It's a very spacious restaurant, but can definitely feel small on event nights weekend nights. Even though the place is big, it feels tight sometimes due to the tables being close to each other and the surplus of people. I'm sure it's better on their off times, but I have yet to go here during it's off peak hours. The menu is great - it has everything you need. Healthy options, greasy grub, Irish delicacies, and more. I got the Barnatty shrimp salad as a wrap (you can make any salad into a wrap). It was so filling and delicious! I went with their award winning fish and chips, and when our waiter brought it out there were 2 ginormous chunks of cod. I'm from Wisconsin and I've been to plenty of Friday night fish fry's. There are a lot of ways to get this wrong--all batter, no fish, greasy batter, etc. These beauties were 90% fresh cod, cooked to perfection with a thin, crisp, batter and a hint of beer taste. Primo!
