I was in a big time rush to catch my connector flight to Baltimore. Delta Airlines totally messed me up, and I was racing against the clock while on an empty stomach. After getting to the gate, and realizing that there was a delay in boarding, I was able to get some food from this place right next to my gate. I got a spicy tuna roll. To drink, I had a bottle of water. The transaction was quick and simple, and I moved to devour the food before boarding to my next destination. I appreciate their efficient service and convenience. I had a short layover in the MSP Airport and Pei Wei was near my gate. It's a tiny location but the menu looked good, so my boyfriend and I ordered the honey-seared chicken. Listen, I've had worse food in airports, but it wasn't anything worth raving about, either. The dish reminded me of PF Chang's Crispy Honey Chicken except not as good. There was WAY too much sauce, and the chicken tasted tough. I ended up eating more of the brown rice than I did the chicken, which is a bummer. Nice and fast For some reason good and fast seem to be very hard to accomplish when at an airport, but I will say these people nails it. I like that they have outlets by the sofas to charge your phone while you eat. I've known Chinese food in Honolulu, but I guess it's a different world out there when you spot a Pei Wei Asian Diner in some random airport kiosk when you're laid over on a random day. It was pretty nice to have an alternative to the fast food nation out there at our nation's airports. I happened to be laid over for a flight to Pittsburgh on a random Friday afternoon, flying in from Seattle that morning and definitely needed some form of sustainable form of nourishment. I walked towards my gate in Terminal C and decided to try Pei Wei Asian Diner just because it's not something I'd typically get while traveling, but it was probably the better choice between the fast food options within the airport terminal. The only part I did like was the fact that they have a limited menu and that they made your order special when you order it. Only problem with that is, it can take up to 20 minutes for your order to be ready and waiting for you. It can be a drag especially when your flight is boarding and you're waiting for your food to cook. Apparently, that's how it was with me, with your typical airport food situation, finding lunch (or dinner) while waiting to board on your flight. The wait was a little terrible, but at the end of the day, what can you do really. I ended up getting a noodle dish, which ended up being Chicken Pad Thai. Pei Wei Asian Diner is a peculiar brand, especially when there are plenty of Asian fusion and regular authentic Chinese fare to choose from on a daily basis. They specialize in noodle bowls and rice bowls in particular, so it was expected that they have that at the airport locations when they're known for it. This particular Pei Wei Asian Diner is located at the Terminal C corridor of the Minneapolis-St Paul international airport, as mentioned before. You can get a decent meal here with a round of choice for around $10. The menu is proudly displayed above the kitchen, so you know what you want before approaching the counter to order. They accept major credit cards, which at the airport, that's what 99% of the traveling public do use. They accept cash as well. Too bad you can't come here on a whim, unless you're boarding a flight to get out of Minneapolis-St Paul, but there are other locations to get your Pei Wei fix on. I kind of like this place, just because it reminds me of home back in Honolulu. Service here could be described as average, just because is fast food service at the airport. Wow the food here is pretty decent and delicious, I would have had better add a full-service Chinese seafood restaurants or maybe even Thai food, since I picked up pad Thai that day for lunch. I must've picked up chicken pad Thai, and it took about 20 minutes for me to get food. It was slower than your usual fast food fare, but what can you do when they're making it hot and perfect for you and your stomach? The lines can get long here, but I'm sure the wait is worth it, depending on what you are having. For me, it was a nice stop for lunch before jet setting to Pittsburgh from MSP. Airport food is a dime a dozen, but you can get decent Asian cuisine here, given the options you have in the terminal. I don't love it, but it sure was something to have. The food is tasty, but could be better. Would I recommend this place? Sure, better than other fast food places in MSP airport. I opted to come here for a quick bite and I was in the mood for some lo mein and egg rolls. The line was long and the guy who took mine and a few other people's orders disappeared. The next guy who came started taking orders and just setting food on the counter so we had to walk up and find the number on it and call it out ourselves to find the customer it belonged to. I started to feel like I was working there when my buzzer went off and I think he finally realized maybe he should do his job. Not sure why you hand out buzzers and then don't use them. When he handed me my food I had to ask for my drink and then soy sauce while he pointed at the container on the counter which was empty. I ordered the chicken lo mein and two pork egg rolls. The lo mein was flavorless, had a pool of water half filling the container, no bean sprouts, no shiitake mushrooms, extremely dry and flavorless chicken and was just god awful to be honest. The only thing good about it was the portion size but, that didn't matter too much since I tossed it after a few bites. The egg rolls were supposed to be pork filled but, I am actually sure it was mystery meat in there because it was mooshy, flavorless and definitely microwaved. The meat looked to be the consistency of dog food and the only thing that even helped this was soy sauce and the sauce that came with it. I've only eaten here once --- today --- and it was disgusting. The first sign that an Asian restaurant won't be any good is that there won't be any Asians eating the food. I should have taken that as a warning sign, but I was hungry for warm food. Big mistake. The teriyaki chicken is a JOKE, and tastes like its been soaking in marinade all day (it's only 2:30pm). There is almost no rice either, and the food took almost 25 minutes. Did they have to go catch a live chicken first? Wow. I'll never eat at any Pei Wei again. Ended up throwing away most of the food. I typically love Pei Wei and have never had any issues when I visited their locations outside the airport. Now I wonder have their portion sizes changed overall or is it just this location in the airport? I requested broccoli to be added to the kung pao chicken and got 3 little pieces. I wasn't charged for it thankfully but still 3 little pieces? Also, there was maybe 5 pieces of chicken. The dish was all rice and not really worth the $10 price tag. What a wonderful staff. I received my soup a bit lukewarm and asked them to heat it up. They insisted on taking care of my bill even though I insisted a warm bowl of soup would be just fine. A very nice customer-centered business. As far as the food, it is the best airport option I have had in years. I had a bowl of the chicken wonton soup which was nice and warm on a cold day, topped with fresh scallions and basil. It was very good and beat almost any airport alternative. Traveler BEWARE! Although the staff seemed nice enough, they did not advertise that their food would take 15 minutes. There were only a few other customers and the prep time did not seem commensurate with the number of visible staff and customer orders. Something was definitely awry at this location today as this wait time is far longer than the other similar competitor in the other terminal (I didn't have time to go to that one and get back). The food was overpriced and not that good, the table was dirty and When I asked the manager for a napkin to wipe it with, he gave me a wet dishrag he had just wrung out in the sink, but did not bother getting off his butt to go out and wipe the table for me. The most offensive m part about my visit is that a maintenance worker emptying the trash slammed through the kitchen door and hit me in the shoulder. The manager, Lucas, was neither concerned more apologetic about this event, simply stating that the worker was not an employee of this restaurant chain and that I would have to take it up with the police if I wanted to file a complaint. His level of rudeness was unmitigated and I honestly think he should be fired for his lack of professionalism and rude manner. This is the worst customer service I have ever received from any fast food restaurant, and well below the standards I would expect from a restaurant that is associated with PF Changs. read more

I have walked past this place in the airport close to 100 times it is located in the C concourse of the msp airport. It is close to C1. I ordered the Carmel Chicken and it was outstanding. My only complaint for not giving a 5 star review is that when I asked for fried rice instead of plain white or brown I was told I could not get it. Fried rice is on their menus so they do make it, just not an option for the meals I guess. If your through the msp airport looking for something different try this out. Good Food read more

The best Asian option at MSP. Located near C3 it has nice seating outside and inside.......Limited menu compared to a full service Pei Wei, but nice selections. I had the lettuce wraps (a bit too salty and too much soy sauce), and a children's meal (teryyaki chicken). Both were good....better than other Chinese food choices in MSP. read more

One of the best Asian restaurants in terminal 1 MSP. Since everything is made onsite and doesn't sit under heat lamps, it is a bit more fresh and appetizing. The prices are a little higher but I think it's worth it for satisfaction. The meat seems of better quality too. They need to start labeling their cooler items though. read more

This was a great find for lunch before flying out. The seating area was awesome, the best in the airport! We had the chicken bahn mi, caramel chicken and a kids teriyaki chicken meal. The bahn mi was good but the ratio of bread to filling was off and it was slightly dry. The caramel chicken was a hit, very tasty. For airport Asian, it's not bad. Not the best value, but better prices than PF Chang's, and definitely a step up from Wok N Roll. I didn't think the portions were all that large, however. The entrees I have ordered are the honey chicken and caramel chicken. Both use white meat and light breading (which is nice, given the propensity for fast-Chinese to be more breading than meat, and very poor quality meat at that). Pretty sweet-tasting, but not overwhelming. They use a good mix of decently fresh herbs as well, which adds a nice touch and also some color. read more

While nothing to brag about normally, airport food tends to be more expensive so this is a good value. We were excited to find out there was a Pei Wei in the Minneapolis airport on our way to Denver, so my husband, teen daughter and I thought we'd grab a bite before our plane took off. The cook nonchalantly went about his business while two other employees chatted with him and waited for him to get done so one could pack up the meal. I have no idea why the other guy was even working as it looked like he just stood around. Intend on waiting 20 min for your food and paying a lot for it. We spent $44 on three meals and drinks, and they got our daughter's meal wrong. Because it took forever to get our meals, we didn't have time to wait for them to fix it. It took forever to get my breakfast sandwich and I have to say it not really that good and the bacon was so greasy the bread was soggy from the grease. Was in between flights and wanted something light, so I ordered the Thai soup, and two spring roll/lettuce wraps yesterday. I paid and waited and waited, and overheard the kitchen workers yell : "We're outta lettuce wraps." There was a girl waiting for HER lettuce wraps too - she haven't been served her order, and was waiting for 25 minutes. She was angry and said "this is absurd, I've been here waiting for 25 minutes".... I couldn't understand why they did my order first.. more about that below. Finally the remote buzzed in my hand, and the man handed me my bag, but she was still waiting for hers though. I took my order and headed to my gate area. Well, that was a mistake, because when i opened the bag, there were two dried out pork egg rolls there, no spring rolls. The egg rolls were old and wrinkled, I thought of that movie. quote: "Me so Chewy, you burp me long time" They should call this place Pei Wei Herman. Make sure you double check your order, or they'll decide what your 'grab bag' is gonna be - it probably helps them clean out the kitchen at the end of the day.
